No episodes of Wish Upon a Star this week

(Sob.)

SBS is showing the Olympics, and therefore the episodes of Wish Upon a Star slated for this Monday and Tuesday will be pushed back to next week to make room for a special broadcast of Vancouver 2010 Prime Time.

Of course I understand since the Olympics is big stuff — and ratings are high in Korea, with the first Korean gold medal being won in short track speed skating and Kim Yuna’s high profile — but how bummed am I? (WHAT IS PAL-GANG GOING TO SAY TO KANG-HA’S SURPRISE CONTRACT PROPOSAL? TELL MEEEEEE.)

For now, Episodes 13 and 14 are rescheduled for next Monday and Tuesday. They’d better not pre-empt next week, too, although next Tuesday is the night of the figure skating ladies’ short programs…

OH HELL NO!!! [insert a multitude of swear words here] This SUCKS! Stupid Olympics! Stupid preemptions!

I will say, I'm amused how quickly this post got over 100 comments! There's a lot of disappointment out there. Misery loves company?

I can't believe we have to wait another full week! Possibly two! Now what I going to do with myself?!

Noooooooooooooo.

OK, ok, survival countermeasures are in order: self, you still have to watch ep 11-12; remember, you'll go cold turkey if you watch them right away which means wait a few more days till you watch ep 11. Maybe I should even start another drama? Just to keep me occupied? hmm, decisions, decisions.

I woke up this morning all chirpy; excited to watch another episode of WUAS, then I read this. :(

I follow the Winter Olympics, in fact, I'm looking forward to Kim Yuna's performance, but I never thought it will interfere with my drama watching.

I will need a turbo shot on my coffee now.

Like everyone else who's commented, I am totally bummed about this! NOOO, I was looking forward to further development with Palgang and Kangha relationship... damn! I don't know how I'm gonna cope --- MBC better not mess with The Woman Who Still Wants To Marry or I will snap...

Kim Ji Hoon in that pic... HOTNESS!

But then that news just went on and ruined my week.
You know I'm just a boring office lady who has nothing to really look forward to but Wish Upon a star every week (yes yes, it's sad, but then I'm too tired during the weekdays anyway to do anything else besides sleep and watch tv)... Oh, the plight of a drama fan.. you get so involved that when the drama ends you suddenly don't know what to do with all that time in your hands..

=(

This is devastating news. I didn't see this notice last night, so I got up this morning prepared to watch ep 13 raw... and there isn't one!!!! I cannot wait another week. It's not humanly possible. I look forward to this drama so much. I love the Olympics, but I still need WUAS!!!

Noooooo! And I just started watching this series last week! I watched all twelve episodes in four days, getting so excited for this week's only to learn that the Olympics will be taking over. One would think I would excited, considering I am Canadian but I just watch my Stars falling from the sky! :( Boo

Haha I was just re-reading some of the recaps and news stuff, just to get over my disappointment, and I re-read the casting news for Wish Upon a Star. Remember that Han Ji-Hye was going to play Pal-Gang?!?! I shudder to think how that would have been like... Han Ji-Hye is good in some roles, and not so good in other ones, and so far I'm LOVING how Choi Jung-won is acting Pal-gang out - with sensitivity, but with a lot of pluck too.

OLYMPICS (granted it's once every 4 years...) WHEN WILL YOU BE OVER!!!?!?!

I know it has nothing to do with k-dramas, but an open thread on the Olympics would be awesome! I have so many comments about all the competition so far and it's only day 4!

First and foremost, RIP to Nodar Kumaritashvili. :( The worst part for me is that TPTB knew the venue was risky to begin with and still went with it. It's only after something tragic happens that people will listen.

The Moguls were so fun to watch. I'm so happy Hannah Kearney is the first US gold medalist. Not only was she excellent, but she seems like a great person. I loved her post win interview. "I just wanted to be part of an NBC montage." LOL! And congrats to Alexandre Bilodeau on being the first Canadian ever to win gold on home ground. It was so sweet to see him with his brother.

Short track 1500m... it's the race everyone in Korea is talking about! Ugh.. Lee Ho Seok is such a dickhead! Korea could have sweeped but noooo this idiot ruined it not only for him, but for Sung Shi Bak. Ho Seok is and always was a dirty player. He also ruined Ahn Hyun Su's chances of getting to the Olympics. HATE this guy. Whatever, serves him right. Now he's Korea's public enemy number one.

Speaking of speed skating and dirtiness, what's up with the Chinese ladies' team trying to taunt and mess with the Korean ladies?! I read from US online sources, not even Korean, but US sources, that said the Chinese were recording the Korean practice and this angered the Korean coach and he threw water bottles at them. The water bottle throwing is laughable, but the Chinese team was totally egging him to do it. Recording another teams practice is allowed, but the reports say the Chinese have always recorded from previous competitions like Worlds, so there was no need for them to keep doing it at the Olympics. It was a blatant attempt to mess with the Korean team and unfortunately, the Korean coach fell for it.

On to the marquee event of the Olympics, figure skating! The pairs started off with a bang last night! Of all the top teams, only one faltered greatly. It was so sad for MMMT. Maxim looked crushed. I'm torn because I love both Shen/Zhao and Savchenko/ Szolkowy. S/S has better choreography, but there is something about S/Z that is so magical. It sounds so corny, but it's true!! The LP is going to be a nailbiter. I love whatever S/Z do, but S/S's Out of Africa program is divine!! Even if you don't like figure skating, please watch at least the last three teams scheduled to compete tonight in the Free Skate: Savchenko/Szolkowy, Pang/Tong, Shen/Zhao.

I don't get Kavaguti/Smirnov!! She's sooo creepy!!!! They're both so dull and only have big tricks. I don't want them to medal, but Russian pairs are always on the podium. ARgg! Pang/Tong were robbed! They should have been in third, ahead of K/S. But everyone knows the most over scored pair was Dube/Davison. They were terrible! It's true what they say. You always score better when you're at home.

GAH!! ... I cannot believe this! I mean, there I was, happily surfing my way to the next episode of WUAS...only to discover that there ISN'T ONE!!! ... Thanks, JB, for letting me know why - I was totally confused until I realised it's because they're screening the Winter Olympics. ...this is probably selfish, but I kind of wished they replaced some other programme's screen time with the Winter Olympics instead, since I was really looking forward to this week's episode (I mean Jaeyoung's evilness was just getting good! She was going to use Kang-ha's 'Achilles' heel' - Jun-ha! So how does that turn out??!)

Thanks for the update, JB. I normally would be screeching banshee upset and crazy, but due to other reasons I will enumerate in OT, I'm actually O.K. with this postponement.

And this is one of the fastest moving comment threads, considering its not something related to YB, JGS, LDH's cleavage or acting, or a free-for-all screaming of "MINE."

I see the entire gang's up and about: langdon, momosan, Kender, Sere, samsooki, mookie, celestialorigin, reluctantbutaddicted, and everyone who spent V-day night NoNoNo-ing about WUAS. *waves from me!* I feel for ya, I love WUAS, and I hope this doesn't negatively impact the rising ratings and momentum of this sweet drama. For my k-dramas, I'm going to use this to catch up on Pasta and continue watching Super Rookie.

Happy President's Day everyday (it's a weekend full of holidays).

OMG THIS! I finally figured out what was bothering me about his hairstyle in WUAS. TPTB are shaving his hairline! Wth? I'm baffled! 0.o Btw, he was hot in Why did you come to my house? and Flowers for my life. *fans self* Gah, I'm sooo shallow XD

@ ockoala

I really hope this won't mess with the ratings, either. Actually, I'm more worried about that than anything else. I can skip a week of WUAS (I can find other ways to keep myself entertained), but if the ratings go down or waver...well, that can't be good. Not that I'm happy there's no WUAS, mind you.

That is simply not fair to cancel this week episodes for the winter olympics.
I am not a fan of the olympics and quite disappointed for the cancellation of the weekly series. Would it not more feasible to cancel another prime time series
other than stars falling from the sky which has good ratings. I was so much
looking forward to this week episodes. What a bummer.

You mean that's actually a silver lining to the fact that I haven't watch ANY kdrama for months, and marathoning like mad for all those that I've missed (@langdon, I'm on epi 32 on Smile, you), and I have YET watch any NEW drama. I FEEL for all of you ( if this happened during YAB, you all would have heard me SCREAM)...but ahem...@Samsooki, you are either very tired or funny when :
"I am actually grateful for the break as I need the time to catch up. I actually wished for a 2 month hiatus on all dramas, so that I can finish the dozen or so dramas pre-2009, and maybe two or three 2009 dramas, and (wo or three 2010 dramas. It is kinda difficult to watch 5-6 current dramas AND catch up with previous dramas…."...2 weeks of break of kdrama is painful enough, I would NEVER even (more than could), imagine a 2 months worth....YIKES.

I was able to go two weeks or even months without it. (I was very careful not to become an addict like cingdoc. :0) But when I saw the heading, I actually went WHAT THE $#&@&*! This had never happened before. 0)
Well, I think I will go watch Why Did You Come to My House? to get my Kang-Ha fix. 0) Is that a good drama?

I then went to dramabeans blog and discover that because of the olympics, they delay episodes! NOOOOOOOO
if they delay next week too they will kill the show and me at the same time...I hope if they screw up the next tuesday they ll show on monday two episodes, hein???

hehe but doesn't samsooki also fastforward dramas? =p although i do understand the sentiment, sometimes the kdrama world feels like school in that - not only have i NOT done the required reading like i was supposed to, i'm also doing homework in class for the class immediately after! >___< (which is totally how i function most of the time, unfortunately)

i swear i was going to work after watching WUAS tonight, and now that there's no WUAS that -should- be taken as a sign for me to be more productive, but uh now that i've lost my cue i've also lost my will to work.

here is where the comparison between school and kdrama fails - voluntarily reading sparknotes in the form of recaps, not in lieu of required readings, but in addition to them. redoing homework over and over again (kind of like hyun-soo in love and marriage, but boooh, been watching his rather too-perfect self the last few days and am thinking i really need a pricklier kim ji hoon fix in the form of kang-ha) i guess there's nothing for it but to rewatch 11 and 12 T____T

I'm bummed out about WUAS being postponed until next week, and possibly further. I have really grown to love this drama, and find myself looking forward to the next two episodes over the weekend. I'm bummed out...but, like JB and some of you, I'm surprised that I'm as bummed out as I feel. Crap.

At the time I'm punching this out on my keyboard, there are over 140 comments...Wow! That's really an impressive response to JB's announcement of the episodes postponement. That makes me feel really good about WUAS, and confirms my suspicions that this drama connects with people as well as I believed it might.

I don't mind the Olympics; I even enjoy watching some of it, as time allows. It's a huge event, and makes our world a smaller place, at least for the time that it's on...and that's a very cool thing.

But I'm bummed that it's messin' with my WUAS. Crap.

P.S.--Man, our two stars look amazing in that pic. Beautiful and handsome, those two...really.

It's a fascinatingly difficult sport, with a certain zen quality to it.
Canada vs Finland in the last Olympics - that was EPIC! I'm quite looking forward to this year's tournament.
