Posters are out (a whole mess of ‘em!) for MBC’s upcoming A Man Called God, and I can’t decide if I think they’re cool (a la Batman Begins) or unbearably cheesy (Batman & Robin).
In the series, star Song Il-kook is back in a modern role after a couple high-profile historical ones (Jumong, Kingdom of the Wind), and he certainly looks fierce and ready for action… but the rest isn’t really working for me. This also seems an odd choice to follow weekend family drama Assorted Gems, doesn’t it?
A Man Called God is an adaptation of a manhwa of the same name (which explains the comic-book-y feel) written by deceased manhwa artist Park Bong-sung. In the revenge story, Song is a modern-day hero who takes on the enemy who killed his parents. The drama will premiere on March 6.
Also featured below are Song’s co-stars Han Chae-young, Yoo In-young, and Han Go-eun; supporting actor Kim Min-jong isn’t featured in these particular posters but will play Song’s rival for Han Chae-young’s affections. Jo Jin-woong (who played Bruce in Sol Pharmacy) will take on a villain role.
Verdict: Kinda G.I.Joe-y?

The visible purple socks is really really a turn off, and can’t they get a better pair of pants.

Yes, that’s what I first thought too, Dao Ming Si in Meteor Garden’s hair. I might just watch it for Kim Min Jong as I am a fan of his.

I think he’s trying to pull a Hwang Tae Kyung/Goo Jun Pyo/Batman/Mob Boss. Cause the suit and the pose? It looks like he’s planning to raid a nightclub or something.

SIG looks like a caricature here . I agree he is too thin. I saw an earlier poster where is is all covered up and in black leather jacket -i thought he looked cool but in these photos in the article I’m changing my mind. He is too emaciated for comfort -I like his physique in Jumong . I have not yet commented on the hair -but they should try something original .Overall -I’m shocked !

i love revenge dramas period! people shouldn’t judge the drama by its poster! and i don’t really get the negative comments…he’s an actor after all, they do experiment to a different degree and and not limit themselves into one dimension.
And about the Batman Robbin thing, I think that’s not it. take note of the title, i think it’s more of a reference to Jesus Christ (it’s his signature pose) specially on the first and last poster!
He looks better without the suit…and the hair..an old Goo Jun Pyo…LOL

i only watched the Lobbyist, but really liked Song Il Kook from there. it’s like his publicist is trying hard to make him look like a d-bag.
have we considered that this series might be a comedy? right now that is the most plausible explanation for me.

I’ve been looking for a new korean drama to watch.. and this may be my next one.. the posters look HOT…. Now i need to read more into what the plot is actually is instead of just looking at posters…

oh my. What the…Ok, no. Most of them are cheesy. And also? BADLY photoshopped, case in point #1 #4 #8. The others are okayish. The best of the bunch is #6 just because they kept it simple. But oh god, the designer in me is having a little apoplectic fit.
I think he looks great, they really worked very very hard to make this happen.. I raise my thumps up to his hard working.. As far as the hair (it has to do with the story, I think they have to match it, so we can’t talk about as a bad hair style). Although he lost some weight from his face, he still look very handson and his body looks great.. I just hope that it work out great for the drama.. can’t wait to watch it..
