Lee Jung-jin (Bottom of the 9th with 2 Outs) is turning into a villain for his next role, a film called The Fixer [or Problem Solver, 해결사] in which he stars against Chungmuro regular Sol Kyung-gu.
In the film, a private investigator’s office run by Sol Kyung-gu, a former police detective, becomes caught up in the case of a murder committed by a serial killer. The investigator becomes a suspect in the crime, and the thriller unfolds as he sets out to clear himself of the false charge. Lee Jung-jin joins forces with people who torment Sol, and is a coldly charismatic mastermind in control from afar.
Lee expressed his feelings on acting with Sol, saying, “I’m happy to be working with Sol Kyung-gu sunbae, who always dominates the screen with his charisma, and I’m also nervous. Aside from him, there are a lot of other senior actors I respect like Oh Dal-soo, Joo Jin-mo and others. Since this is a film with top actors, I’ll work hard so that I don’t cause any problems.”
The movie will begin filming in March and release in the latter half of this year.
(Is it me, or are there are A TON of serial killer movies coming out these days?)

Oh I’m sorry… I just thought since he said, “Aside from him, there are a lot of other senior actors I respect like Oh Dal-soo, Joo Jin-mo and others. Since this is a film with top actors…” I thought it meant the movie would include other senior actors like Joo Jin Mo, and that’s he’s calling him a top actor…
Did I misunderstand? Is he just naming other actors that he respects?

I thought the same thing too; when I read this, my first thought was “Another serial killer-themed thriller??” Maybe because there seem to be a lot of these kinds of movies nowadays, this doesn’t really interest me even though Lee Jung Jin is in it, who I like a lot.
Well, if Joo Jin-mo is in it, count me in…i heart him 2.
Seems like only yesterday when he played bird boy in that god awful drama “April Kiss” with Sooae (9th with 2 Outs, Emperor of the Sea) and So Yi Hyun (Assorted Gem, Resurrection)
2004 was when my kdrama obsession started and I watched anything and everything without any filters or standards.

When I read these comments from Korean actors, it really highlights how differently they speak to their public as compared to North American actors. I don’t ever recall N.A. actors making such statements. The cultural differences are interesting.
