Hi! My first time posting but I've been reading a lot. You're a heck of a writer.

Anyway, thank goodness you didn't touch the 2PM controversy. These days, this is one of the few K-sites I come to where there's peace and quiet. Kudos to you! :)

2PM's controversy
I know I shouldn't read those so called translation, rumors, fan accounts, etc etc...but I can't help it! It's so damn amusing, I just need popcorn ( or ice cream as international fans would say :P )!!
And yes, thanks God for dramabeans, where we doesn't have to read those news.

Just got back from watching Alice in Wonderland in 3D. :D

and have to go to the office on Saturday, hiks, because I can't keep up with works -- they just keep coming and coming and coming, and this particular senior at the office is making me mad every single day.

anyway! Happy Friday all!!!

So, I found out yesterday that I'm going Gwangju to teach for a year! I leave in three weeks, and I'm super excited and a little nervous :)

And, this is a total long shot, but it's driving me crazy so I've got to ask. There's this piece of instrumental music used a lot in The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry; it's used right at the end of ep 11 and the beginning of ep 12, and it's not on the OST. It sounds like a song by Explosions in the Sky to me, but I can't identify it. Anyone else know? Or agree?

I've been noticing in the last couple of episodes what great music this show has. It's not using it like Coffee Prince or Soulmate, but it's just really good music.

OK, I'll not ask about the 2PM anymore, I'll just have to search-search-search...(and subsequently gains cross-eyes & epistaxis at the process. >.<)

uff...still work on Saturday? bummer...I can already imagine (the horror if I were you)

Was the movie nice??? Because I think they based that (movie) on the EA vid-game "Alice in Wonderland", w/c has the same bizarre surroundings, but less creepy & gore-y...

me-here has 2 researches: 1 of which will have its defense this coming Tuesday (and that's my finals exam, dammit), and the other would be completed by the ends of October this year (*agony&despair*)

I really want to watch You're Beautiful again, but am afraid that I'll get sucked right into the drama again, and ignore all the essays and assignments that have piled up in my schedule.

I think I always have a love-hate relationship with dramas that are addictive...the desire to watch it, and the desire to not want to watch it because of its ability to distract me from anything else I'm doing, or supposed to be doing. Not watching dramas is like going on a diet...I will always be thinking about the dramas I could be watching, and at the same time reminding myself of how much time they take up, that could be spent on school work.

Have a great weekend, everyone =)

Looking forward to WUAS next week!!! It's my highlight of the week now...I really hope that they tie up the loose ends nicely, with 4 eps remaining.

I don't know that it based from video game! Well it does look like vid game's scenes -- and yes there are bizarre surroundings, and bit creepy..
It's quite nice actually, not the kind of movie that I regret to watch but i don't know how to describe my feeling about it... it's entertaining, but not so much...
I guess younger people will more appreciate it. ( hah, i feel old now )

Err, sorry can't help to describe it properly! hehehee.

Good Morning Everyone:

After so many frustrations I finally am going to enjoy this weekend. I finally got caught up to my favorite Kdrama - The Woman who Wants to Marry. I have watched all (all sub) up to eps. 11. (ep 12 and onward all sub are on hold). And your reviews are just so great for me to really understand this drama clearly. I just read your review on ep 11 (I totally agree with everything you had written in there) and are waiting patiently on what you will write on future eps.

Have a great weekend....

Happy Friday!! (or Saturday in some parts of the world)

I'm finally getting my pc back. I have so much downloading to catch up on!
I did finish watching Autumns Concerto this morning (i stole the daughter's school laptop, naughty me!). it was the ending i wanted, but the execution was.. off. didn't make any sense to me HOW they got to WHERE they did. satisfied, yet disappointing. this twdrama was my drug of choice for the last 3 weeks, but i'm glad it's finally over. i did enjoy watching it, but i don't think i'll re-watch it anytime soon. i don't think i had dry eyes in any episode.. it was exhausting.

LOVE the recaps of SMM from Girlfriday and JB. they are so awesome!!! i appreciate the similar writing styles.. the recaps flow so well between the two ladies... THANK YOU!!

shout out to my twin: *waves* hi! hope you have a great dinner w/ my fave guy on paper!!!

@ gallivanter

congrats on the teaching gig.. have tons of fun and keep in touch!! love to hear more of your experience out there!

Yay! Finally, it's Spring Break even though it's still snowing outside. Grr. I can finally catch up on all the dramas and books I've been watching/reading. Well that, and I have to start reading Hamlet for my 'Writing About Literature" class and writing a five page paper on two poems. Shoot me now.

But I desperately need this break; it's gotten to a point where I've been stressing out about reading a chapter for homework and that's ridiculous.

I hope everyone has a good weekend!

@Gallivanter: Congratulations! I hope you have an amazing time. I've always wanted to teach the English language for a year or two. Good Luck!

Happy Friday friends!! ^__^ I'm on a mymomisafob.com (fyi; it's a website that features funny/adorable stories of things that our crazy fobby asian parents do) kick right now...so here are a couple that are too precious to not share...

-------

My adorable grandma needed to make dinner for some very important people from the American Embassy and she couldn’t understand the English grocery labels, so she bought some canned meat, served it, and it was a hit.
Later that night, my grandpa looked in the trash and lo and behold…
…the guests had a Purina meal fit for a pup!
-------------------

Mom: (in Vietnamese) What’s the name of that boy who’s half Japanese that you’re seeing?
Me: Eliot.
Mom: (repeats in English) AAAALien. I call him ET.
-------------------

So about 10 minutes ago my mom got a notice from Sam’s club for the bill and she was so excited. I have never seen her so excited about a bill before. So I was curious and I looked over and saw a late fee for almost 125 dollars
Me: Mom! Why didn’t you pay the bill!
Mom: Sam clup give me the free money!
Me: No, you have to PAY or else that fee will get higher.
Mom: What? I thought the late free?
Me: No FREE has an R, FEE means you have to pay.
Mom: Dang sam clup try to trick the asian people

-------------------
My friend and I were talking about some guys we met while in the car with my mother:
Friend: “The blonde one was hitting on you.”
Mom: “He PUNCHED you!?”
-------------------
so my mom phones me the other day…
mom: richard! you got a christmas card! it’s from a girl! i will read it to you!
me: no it’s ok. i will open it when i get home next time
mom: no it’s ok i already read it! here. (she reads slowly, having trouble with some words) oh wow, so i looked up this word—awesome—it means extremely impressive! and she even says… sunshine and rainbow! wow she is totally into you.
me: …um mom, you don’t have to open my mail ok?
mom: it’s ok. i really don’t mind. have you eaten?
-------------------

My mum went down to the shops to get some groceries while I stayed at home to study. This is the conversation we had on some of her ‘observations’.
Mum: I saw some teenage boys…about your age.
Me: yeah…
Mum: Their jeans very bright and tight.
Me:…
Mum: Almost like girl jeans.
Me:…
Mum: Do they know they buy girl jeans?
Me: I’m pretty sure they do mum, in fact a lot of boys buy female jeans because they think it looks better on them than male jeans.
Mum: oh…
A moment later
Mum: Where they find space in jean to put thingy in?

@yen_nguyen - I know how you feel right now. I just graduated last year and my last semester of senior year (which i was suppose to be enjoying) was ruined by fears of unemployment (and having to live in a box for the rest of my life...). But eventually everything fell into place...i graduated, found a job and so did most of my friends. Depending on your field, it may be more tough then others...but there are exceptions to everything (I've have history major friends land jobs...so there's hope for everyone:p) I think the most important thing is to keep trying, keep faith and not give up. Good luck!!

@ SERE (..for whenever she gets in here) - *waves*...if you are who I think you are, then I am who you think I am *winks* -lol-

@Jenny - there's a website called dramaonly.com (or something like that..) if you go into the previous OT or previous WWSWTM discussions, there should be a link to it

Boo, you guys talking aout graduation just reminds me that I'm graduating the first week of May. NOT READY. :(

I feel so far behind some of my friends.. Of my two housemates, one is a nursing major who has had a job lined up for over a year, and the other is a sociology major who has an internship and has been interviewing for jobs recently. I feel all alone as an international studies major.. Why did I pick a major with no clear path?

On the other hand, I've been doing a lot of research recently on North Korean refugees for my term paper, and it's making me want to join an NGO. Almost. I don't actually think I want to join an NGO, but at the same time I want to do something to help, but I have no money.. :/

Ahhhhhhhhhh~ I'm only 21! I'm too young to make important decisions about the rest of my life.. And if I don't have a job (or at least a plan) by the time I graduate, my parents will never let me live it down. I'm only allowed one year back home after graduation, and I'm pretty sure they'd make me pay rent. (Not that I want to live at home anyway. I don't like having my parents close enough to run my life.)

In other news, tonight is Asian Food Night with my Korean language buddy (she's Filipino-American, but we take Korean together). We initially started out with the mission to make Korean food, but we appear to be branching out into Asian food in general--tonight is omurice! I'm super excited, because I was watching a Jdrama last night and the guy made omurice for his daughter all the time. It looked so delicious.

I know I shouldn't complain, but I am dying for new Pasta subs with my new VIA access from withS2. maybe this weekend (crossing fingers)

I've been soooo lazy this week. Way too much drama viewing and not much housework.
Currently following Pasta and Wish upon a star, enjoying both, can't wait for final episodes. To fill the void I took a nostalgic trip to visit Sam soon and Co. Just love that drama!
Oh well, off to do the laundry, maybe drop by later and catch up with the thread.

it's been a sad week- two of my friends had family members who passed away. even though I'm glad it's spring break now- i can't help thinking abt what they must be going through, especially the one who had just lost her brother. it's times like these when i wish i was a little kid again and death was vague and just looked like someone is sleeping.

@ yen_nguyen: yenchan is right. things do fall into place in terms of job. it may not be as quickly as you want it or as ideal, but you'll make it through. from all my friends, they managed to find jobs within 6 months of graduation. a few of them are temporary jobs (i'm one of them) or 2-part time jobs, but they managed to have almost continuous work. One of my friends who was temping managed to get hired as a permanent after abt a year. Remember you have youth and enthusiasm on your side. I feel really bad for people who are in their late 30s, 40s, and 50s.

@ yenchan: I love your stories abt your family! it's been a tiring morning (working on my er diagram for a database class for the past 2 nights), but you made me smile! i also wonder abt space in those male skinny jeans. i'm already uncomfortable with skinny jeans as a girl...i don't know how guys do it. is it because they have flatter butts?

Its ALOHA FRIDAY!!!!!

And weekend coming with a new week looming and anxious for WUAS and the next 2 episodes!!!!

I've quit on Loving You A Thousand Times.....I'm tired of the way the story is going and the way the lead actress keeps hurting the man who loves her. I guess that's why the title of the drama is LYATT! :-(

If anybody wants to follow a fun drama check out Down With Love. Great acting by Jerry Yan and Ella Chen....the little boy from Autumn's Concerto is in this drama. It's slow posting on soju and even if I check it out on 2 other sites it's RAW version so I'm left totally out in the dark. However, Ella is so great that just watching her is fun.

Congratulations and best wishes to all the soon to be graduates from high school and colleges! May all your dreams come true and keep reaching for the stars cause even though the journey is rough.....you gotta give it your best shot!

Be safe and happy out there! Life really IS a BEACH! :-)

HOW did I forget it's Friday? 0_0

Guys, yesterday I started The woman who still wants to marry. As if wasn't watching too many kdramas at the same time already (I'm even ashamed to say how many!). Anyhow, I watched a couple of eps and it's really, really cute. I wasn't expecting it to be this good. Usually I don't like first eps or I find them draggy, but this one wasn't. I think I'm gonna marathon this till I catch up with all the subbed eps.

@yenchan
It's you!!!!!!!!!! *waves back and hugs* YaY! I should've realized it was you, but duh, I'm soooo slow. You should post you-know-where more often, you know that, right?

Nah...if its good people will still watch it. I'm a HUGE 2PM fan, but even I was originally going to watch it for MGY and Seo Woo. Okcat is just icing on the drama cake. 2PM drama will most likely be over by then as well. Their new CD will be out that month too. Breathe and wait for April :)

It's been a bit boring at work today so I was reading some Yelp reviews and came across an interesting one for Circle Club in NYC (which I've been to a couple of times). --> http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-circle-nightclub-new-york

Question: As an Asian, how do fellow Asians feel about the world FOB? Are you Asian American or well, straight from the mother land?

I was just thinking about it today. I'm not a FOB by any means, born and raised in the USA and the word fob doesn't bother me but I notice that more Asian-Americans use the word than other nationalities.

Which got me to thinking about the whole 2PM International Fan vs. Korean Fan debate and then about the Korean-Americans I know (what's the term? gwapo or something like that?) and how most of them joke SOO much on other Koreans and then got me to thinking about racism between AA (Asian Americans) and the ones born in their country (what's the term for that?). And how it sucks that AA's are meaner to them than other people. I can't count how many times I've seen a Korean/Chinese/Thai/ASIAN-American joking or making fun of a "fob".

And all this came from reading the Circle reviews on yelp, where almost all the reviews mention the word FOB.

Oh yeah, don't go to Circle, lol. Apparently they are all racist and only let in Koreans. At least that's what I get from the reviews. The two times I went there, I didn't have a problem but that could be due to other reasons.

@44: well, basically 2PM members including Taecyeon lost respect in the entertainment world. Just imagine how all of their colleagues (both actors and singers) will look at them wherever they go. I'm sure from now on, they will not be able to work their way to the top as easily as before. It's Korea we're talking about, once you show your lack of dignity, you will never gain trust and you will probably got criticized all your life.
And Super Junior, Shinee, and all other great solo singers are coming back in April. 2PM's album will got pwned by all those people because 2PM (I mean specifically those 6 members of 2PM) are talentless.
To be honest, if Cinderella's sister targets the younger audience, they will surely fail. It'd better be really melodramatic to attract the ahjumma population or it will flop.

To clarify, I don't use the word fob. Reason is because I think it's mean. :(

Also, when I say, I notice that more Asian-Americans use the word than other nationalities. , I mean that in my social group, the only ones I notice using it are Asian-Americans. My white/spanish/black/indian friends have never used it. :/
