I just wanna say that I really, really, really like PASTA!

It's the first drama that I really, really, really like after Beethoven Virus (2008).
I like Wish Upon A Star too...but I like PASTA more! :)

wow! i'm early for open thread, lol..

it's been a hectic week, but got lots more to come since finals are coming up..haay..

T.T wish upon a star ended already, and i don't know what to look forward to on mondays and tuesdays anymore, (although i watch then on viikii tuesdays and wednesday, LOL)..it's just sad, i'm surely gona miss the kids and KANG HA!!!

(OT) anyways, i'm watching unsubbed episodes of danbi on youtube when nichkhun of 2pm and doojoon of beast visited philippines. i am proud to be a filipino, and i love my home. i can proudly say that we are nice, warm, hardworking, hospitable, and lovable people but nothing is perfect so we also have flaws, things that i am not proud of (corruption and how poverty pushes people do bad things.) i hope, for those who saw the danbi episodes, that it didn't taint your views of the philippines and it's people.

x's: i can't wait for oh my lady because of siwon =D

xx's: have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Gosh, I am super pumped for Cinderella Unni, Personal Taste and more! I've never been so hooked on a season's dramas so much... Winter 2010 delivered in both jdramas and kdramas have been awesome so far. Hopefully the spring season will be just as good ^^. Still, Marry Me, Wishing Upon a Star, Pasta and the slew of weekend dramas were actually (zomg) enjoyable... And I'm actually watching - not skimming- Magererannai Onna (sp?)! And though I only enjoyed Ady An's acting in one single episode (episode 18) I actually finished AC... Wowsie. Little kid and second lead male made it worthwhile.

Did anyone else have a problem with Pasta's ending? I didn't exactly dislike it.... It just left an empty feeling in my stomach - which is where my dramas go after I eat them up.

Happy Friday everyone! Tomorrow is the first day of spring and I couldn't be more elated! (being on the east coast I'm ready for some sun) I bought a lovely tecolote ranunculus the other day. Free water ice from Ritas on Saturday too if you're on the east coast and know what I'm blabbering about. Enjoy some sun if you got it this weekend!~

Happy Friday everyone!!

In norcal for the weekend again. First couple weeks at the new job have been alternately busy and slow - still tryin to get a hang of it all.

Was on a jdorama kick for awhile and watched some older ones (actually i should say i was a matsuda shota kick and watched jotei and love shuffle for him). Really enjoyed both in different ways. My twin highly suggested SMM so I started that the other night and after the first ep I'm already hooked!!! I love the puma noona storylines haha! So... thanks twin!!! :)

Ok, off to run errands. Not even 8am and so many posts already!!!

Happy Friday also. With the loss of an hour of sleep because of the time change here in US, I am planning to sleep all day Saturday. Otherwise, I too love the drama "Woman Who Still Wants to Marry. I just wish there was an extension to the drama. But that's okay,it was a good drama.

I got to read the whole review with JavaBeans and PurpleZ.

Have a great weekend.

Hey JB, happy weekend! I noticed that after both Pasta and Woman Who Still Wants to Marry finished airing, there was/is a one-week break inbetween, before their respective follow-up drama aired. I was a little surprised to see this happen. It's probably happened in the past, but I didn't notice. I was wondering though, what do the broadcasting companies air in this empty time slot, coz there doesn't seem be be a "special episode" extention of the drama that I know of. Do you have any clue? Is this unusual?

@6 Amg1 -

I am sorry that a “Throll Mosher” was not kind to you, I do not know was up her behind, but hey! keep up the good work, and If guys do not like a contributor keep it to yourself and do not be nasty, this person reminds me of the other one that got pissed at JB beacuse she stop recapping “Pasta” if you do not like what is in this site go some place else, JB Rules for all you haters!!!! Peace to all!!

I was surprised to see it, but I think I understand where it comes from (maybe partially).

Chuno is almost a new kind of k-drama. Given its wuxia style and slick action sequences, Chuno probably grabs the attention of people who may not be that familiar with k-dramas and sageuks in general. This is a good thing, of course. It is always good to see more and more people discover and enjoy k-dramas, even if they start with Chuno as their first.

But with a bigger and broader audience base, of course, you will get people who may have different opinions about relationships and shipping in general. Certainly, on Soompi forums, you see those issues come up and the arguments there can certainly be heated as people take things personally.

For whatever reason, some folks who like TH and who therefore want TH-UN to be the pair, they tend to internalize snarky criticisms of TH (being bland) and UN (being a helpless but immaculately clean damsel), and they take it personally. At one point on the Chuno Soompi thread, people had to be reminded that TH and UN are FICTIONAL CHARACTERS, and so no "real" living person should be hurt if someone says, "TH is bland."

Anyway, I don't mind if people don't like the recap, or if they rip it. It is good to get a wide range of opinions, and differing opinions helps me get better too.

What I do mind is rudeness, because it is disrespectful to dramabeans and to JB in particular. Personally, it is embarrassing to me that such rudeness would be found on a recap that I do for dramabeans, and I hope that we wouldn't see that kind of thing in the future. BUT, as for differing opinons - I am all for them.

(Also, don't tell anyone on Soompi (shhhhhhhhh!!!!), but I MAY be changing my own mind about the OTP being DG and UN. By the end of this drama, we might in fact see a change. I may be wrong, I may be right, at this point, I honestly have no idea. See? That's why having different opinions is so great!)

=)

yes, go for it. dating someone younger should NOT be considered a bad thing, whether he's your bro's friend or not. *hint hint to twin* :D

i am thoroughly enjoying You're Beautiful. I'm on ep 4 and i'm so HOOKED!!! i can't believe i waited so long to get on this beautiful bandwagon. i think imma make Lee Hongki my new ICOMYM obsession along side w/ Kim Bum.

two more weeks until my 3 highly anticipated dramas start.. Cinderella's Sister, Oh My Lady, and Personal Taste. and i love all the gratuitious topless stills of all the men.. it's like, you get an idol w/ chocolate abs and then FLASH 'EM all over. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

@ Amg1

it started w/ a kiss was pretty good. yeah, i'm admitting it!! my recent TWdrama that i completely LOVED was Black and White, but it's not anywhere near similar to Smiling Pasta.. it's a suspenseful police/crime drama.. or try Autumn's Concerto aka Next Stop, Happiness. that was cracktastic too!

{JB, your recaps truly helped me understand the characters even better as my Korean is so-so - thank you!}

if you guys have any recommendation, preferably something that's almost finished to prevent me from obsessing about it each week, it would be much appreciated - thank you! hehehe.

Gosh, it seems a lot of the kpop groups are visiting the Philippines. I had the chance to watch SHINee when they were in Manila. Too cute!

**Waves** to all Pinoys.

I do wish ABS would hurry up and show You're Beautiful, perhaps they are waiting for the school year to start around June.

I love Full House, Smiling Pasta and yes they were based on the same story although I kinda think Coffee Prince and YAB have a lot of similaries as well.

I am currently watching Down with Love a Taiwanese drama that stars Ella Chen and Jerry Yan too funny.

Bloody Monday 2 and of course finished Wish Upon a Star. I am so looking forward to the new Hong Sister series and You're My Pet that stars the love of my Kdrama life Jang Geun Suk. Will be watching LMH's Personal Taste and Cinderella's Sister coz they look promising.

JB thanks for all the updates. What'll I do without you?

It's been a busy week for me too... at least I'm done with my test and can concentrate on work and my hobbies. Right now I'm hooked on Fringe, anyone else who's following this show? I was skeptical at first and it started out slow, but now I'm won over :P Though, I gotta say that without Peter Bishop (Joshua Jackson is hawt!!! <3) and his father the show would ne nowhere as captivating.

Chuno is ending next week after that I'll be out of dramas to watch, just in time for all those new dramas~ Gonna camp for Cinderella Sister, Personal Taste and maybe Oh, My Lady.

Have a good weekend everyone! I'm gonna get LOTS of sleep~

Hey JB- After a dreary workday and still another day to go before the 'weekend', your site is where I go to just relax and energise my self.Everyone wants to make a difference in other ppl's lives, you manage to do so in so many people's lives with your cheery blog.On some days, something as trivial discussing dramas can bring a smile to my face.:-)

Well I still have to watch 'The woman who still wants to marry' and 'Wish upon a star'.:-) They both seem to sound so breezy and fun to watch based on all the recaps I've read.:-)

On another note,I'm on a Japanese drama spree. It started with Perfect Girl Evolution and I don't know where or when its gonna end.:-( And I've got Kame fever real bad.:-(
Damn you dramas,it's gonna take me years to catch up.Is it just me or does Kame look like a thinner version of T.O.P minus the guy liner.

I am really missing seeing Jang Geun Suk in a drama lately. He is my totally age inappropriate crush (7 years younger!). But I wish the kid had a good nickname. I always think of him as "Jang Geun Suk, Jang Geun Suk" in my head, but I would much rather call him by a nice and cute pet name, which would suit him better. "The Adorable One?" "The One with the Strange Fashion Sense?"

Anyway, he and Lee Min Ki are my faves. I used to send pictures of Lee Min Ki to my sisters on a daily basis, even though they don't watch kdramas, because I had to spread the joy... Really, how can someone not feel happy looking at JGS and LMK?!! I like how both JGS and Min Ki are so talented and hard-working when it comes to acting, but do not take themselves too seriously and come across as just really nice, goofy guys. Love love love them, and hope they are both back on tv soon.

Anyway, I am very that WUAS is over because I will miss the dreamboat that is sexy lawyer Kang-ha (did I mention he was sexy?). Although the last ep was certainly flawed, I love the fact that Pal-gang did the proposing and was really touched by KH's love declaration. I am going to miss those two! They were both great characters who grew a lot in realistic ways. Thank you very much for those awesome recaps, JB! Ah, what to watch next?

Happy Friday! Since I don't have to work today, it all looks good to me. Plus, the sun is shinning in southern CA with a high in the upper 70's. Life is good.

Question -- Where can I watch the last two episodes of PASTA with English subs? Because the last two episodes aired so long ago, and subbing seems to have just stopped, I'm a bit worried that I'll never know EXACTLY what is being said since I'm not fluent in Korean.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Before I off and collapse in a happy heap, I wanted to answer your query on TW-dramas. I'm no expert, I'm TW-American but I generally prefer k-dramas overall quality, but there are some gems in the TW-ouevre.

1. It Started with a Kiss - Joe Cheng and Ariel Lin - unparallel chemistry and acting from both leads - endearing and funny story. One of my faves.

2. Fated to Love You - Ethan Ruan and Chen Qiao-en - started of strong but ended weak (in my opinion ) - the highest rated TW-drama in many years, it was a phenomenon in TW when it aired.

3. Prince Turns Into Frog - Ming Dao and Chen Qiao-en - very lightweight and breezy, the drama goes from okay to very good due to the chemistry between the leads, a Cinderalla story with lots of heart, esp. when Ming Dao becomes a butt poor refugee from China.

4. Black & White - my fave drama from TW last year, one of my top dramas of 2009 in any genre - it came out before IRIS, and I loved it way more than the eps of IRIS I saw. Fast, slick, amazing direction and cinematography (the entire drama was completed beforehand) for a TW drama, with Vic Chou and Mark Chao as the OTP. I love the soundtrack, too.

There are many more dramas that I'm sure other more knowledgeable OT-ers can recommend. I would have recommended Autumn's Concerto except it fell apart big time in the second half (also in my opinion), but I heard everyone loves loves My Queen (noona love for Ethan Ruan).

I've just finished re-watching TWWSWTM & started re-watching WUAS!!! 2010 is such a banner year for beautiful KDramas...& am having the best "drama-viewing-time" of my life!!! Too MANY wonderful DRAMAS...too LITTLE TIME!!!
My biggest setback this year though, is not being able to finish watching Assorted Gems & Creating Destiny!!! Please suggest a website w/c has complete Eng.-subbed episodes??
Have also settled to watching RAW...the last episodesof TWWSWTM...but can't do so w/ Pasta & Chuno because,it's so hard to comprehend w/o English subs nor DB recaps!!! Been waiting for 3 weeks for English subs from Dramasub or Dramacrazy...but to no avail!!!

@32 Sobia -- Just must say that 7 years younger is not totally age inappropriate. My husband is nearly 7 years younger, and we've been married 21 years and have three children. I cannot imagine my life any other way than it is now. Really wonderful. Of course, this has less to do with the 7 years age difference than the man himself. :-)

If popseoul and allkpop are yanking my chain....well, if it turns out to be a false alarm, at least I was made momentarily so happy I curled into a ball under my desk and cried.

And I know I threw out HJW was my first choice as lead as well - and I believe the collective vote that week was in fact HJW by a landslide, with KSA a second.

If someone can find the original casting news release in korean, we can verify the news for sure. All I know is that I woke up and it was all over the blogosphere, I think it's in fact true, but may not be etched in stone, i.e. she may still pull out if there is a conflict with her filming schedule for a new film.

I just got the IRIS banner - with LBH, KTH, and JJH, and I'm already imagining a banner with JWS, CSW and HJW and drooling (me).

Can I say, now that HJW is on board, JGS should be cast as the newbie NIS agent in love with HJW and trying to become THE man like JWS. I'm going crazy with the fantasy casting today. :-)

For those who haven't watching Pasta's ending you might not want to read my comment. I tried to keep it vague, but it might still spoil it for some people. If anyone has a problem with it, just write something and I'll come back and delete it.

@13 Meh
I was a bit surprised at the Pasta ending, but I liked it after thinking more about it. I especially LOVE the conversation the chef had in his office. The particular line where he talks about how he would feel if she left. As for her decision once you think about her mom and what that place means to her it seems to sort of make sense, although I came up with that one on my own.

I am going to finish WUAS tonight. I love it when it is Friday and I have something really good to watch. I am following Rich Man which despite the poor public reviews I am enjoying it. I also started on OBGYN. Looks pretty interesting so far.

On Japanese Dramas I am following Code Blue 2, and Perfect Girl. I watch the first one for Yamapi, and I actually really like the second one's take on the manga. BTW, I watched Rondo which was a Japan and Korea combined effort. It had romance, suspense, action and most importantly good looking leads. (ah, I am so shallow) Highly recommended.

For Taiwanese dramas I am following both Down with Love and PS. Man. Both are great and really funny. I am so excited that for once there are actually TWO Taiwanese shows I like.

@11 Amg1
in addition to Ockoala's wonderful suggestions, I would also add:

1. My Lucky Star: starring Jimmy Lin, who has been in the acting business for 15+ years (for all that he looks young, he's not a yuppy idol), and Yoo Hana (most recently in Sons of Sol Pharmacy). It is a taiwanese drama closest to the quality of a kdrama. Great chemistry, great acting, and great writing for a taiwanese drama.

2. Hi My Sweetheart: at first I wasn't going to touch this drama because it looked cheesy and ridiculous, but once I started watching it, it was deeper and more charming that I expected. I was blown away and laughed many a many and cried many a tear. It stars Rainie Yang and Show Luo. It's about a tough loner girl and a dorky boy.

3. Pi Li MIT: if you're into high school mysteries. The acting is pretty average and some of the events in it are sort of unbelievable...but the director is great at creating the mysterious atmosphere and the mystery is riveting.

A very popular favorite is Devil Beside You, though I personally didn't like it.

I'm also excited abt the IRIS 2 casting. I didn't watch IRIS 1, but IRIS 2 is getting me hooked with Ha Ji won and Cha Seung won. Don't know which kdrama I should watch next now that WUAS is over. I can probably only follow one at a given time, so I'm wondering which one to pick.

w/ my concurrent watching of SMM, i'm leaning more towards puma noona.. but then, you bring up norcal, and i'm all for snagging bro's friend... i'm so divided. can you do both? lol.
