Kang Ji-hwan follows Coffee House with musical role

Kang Ji-hwan started out in musicals (he debuted in Grease), and now he’s returning to that medium briefly for the musical production of Caffeine (which has nothing to do with his similarly titled drama Coffee House, which is currently airing on SBS). The musical will run in both Korea and Japan later this fall.

The musical depicts the love story between a woman barista and a man sommelier and first ran in 2008. Performances will begin in August in Korea, and he will act in the Japanese shows from October 16 through November 7, for a total of 23 shows. Directing both the Korean and Japanese shows is Sung Jae-joon. The performances in Korea will be held at Seoul’s Art One Theater; Japanese shows will take place at Tokyo’s Globe Theatre.

That ought to keep him quite busy through the end of the year; Kang is currently busy playing an eccentric writer in the offbeat romantic comedy Coffee House, and plans to begin rehearsals for the musical once Coffee House is off the air.

i just watched ep 1 of coffee house and m not feeling it that much. the characters, the actors, i seem to be not feeling the chemistry adn connection. maybe it's because it's just episode 1.

personal taste started okay but the latter part was really draggy.

i watched the last scandal and triple (post you're beautiful), and i really liked it. i read in your blog about a possible part 2 pre-suicide. could have been great! i see a lot of subplots still possible.

i have the same kind of sentiments while watching triple. light, but forgettable. but it makes me curioius though, as to if hwal will show his feeling for haru. (m at ep 11).

bottomline is, there really isn't anything that can top you're beautiful. m a die-hard fan. and hope there is a season 2!

I apologize for being inappropriate but that picture of him is just way too seducing. It honestly makes me want to just rip his shirt off. LOL. Damn that man is sexy.

Wow, it's ridiculous how charming he is, it even comes across in a still photo. I'm honestly still on the fence with Coffee House, I'll probably end up marathoning it when the subs are done. I'm still kind of surprised at how low the ratings are, I would have thought he would be a bigger draw. Maybe the fact that it's a bit unorthodox: that (seemingly) the female lead is not the typical kdrama heroine or the pairings are a bit weird.

The shows in Japan will be spoken/sung in Korean, right?

(I can't imagine relearning an entire musical in a foreign language..)
