Kwon Sang-woo has gotten himself into a bit of a pickle for a hit and run accident, for which he was booked (but not detained) by Seoul’s Kangnam Police Station on June 24.
According to the police station, the incident occurred at 2:55 am on the morning of June 12, in an alley in the Cheongdamdong neighborhood of Kangnam. The Cadillac driven by Kwon hit a parked car on the front bumper. Kwon allegedly then backed up, colliding with the patrol car that was approaching from behind. He drove on for about 300 meters to a nearby parking lot, then hit (again!) a tree. He apparently gave up all hope of a smooth getaway scene and got out of the car, and then ran off.
(Okay, I know this is a criminal charge, but OMG SO FUNNY.)
Two days after the incident, on the afternoon of June 14, Kwon went to the Kangnam Police Station and was questioned. Kwon’s explanation for his behavior was, “The patrol car was following behind me and there was a sudden accident, and I got scared.” He added that he had not been drinking. There’s no way to know if he had in fact been drunk, so he is only being accused of a hit and run at this time. (Although if that’s the way the guy drives sober, dude has no business behind the wheel, period!)

It’s plain stupid. Action does speak a lot more than words, and I am disappointed in him.
I find that totally irresponsible; firstly, if you drink, don’t drive, paid drivers are easily available. Secondly, stand up like a man, like all his characters in dramas, bad image for a star of his status; otherwise, no integrity to carry any drama roles. Audience will not be fooled.
lol I would guess it was likely more to do with exhaustion and over work than being drunk, this is Korea after all, land of the workaholics. The guy should use a driver or his company get him one.

It must’ve been alcohol… a lot of other drugs (like dope) can be tested on by a hair sample. So even if he came in two days later, it could still be proven that he took something, and perhaps even reveal some earlier usages
KSW is the perfect example of a big star who is all form but has little or no substance at all.

Why do some people become happy when sth like this happens to a celeb? It seems they are waiting for a big figure to stumble and fall for them to feel a little better about themselves.
i thought the same thing, this is funny but it shouldn’t be. this guy, i use to like his acting back in the day. but dang this guy is a dummy, i wonder what would’ve happened if he hit a person. this totally ruins his tough image, and makes him look like a wuss with bad morals. if he stayed this wouldn’t have been such a big deal. luckily no one got hurt. hopefully he will never drive again.

@Fatemeh: Nobody is happily waiting for this to happen to a big star. He is a public figure, no matter what the public portraits him with all the cool images he has played, and a lot of people look up to him. It’s a sad news, and people will talk about it for a while. Even if you are nobody and things like this happen to you, your hometown people, if they know, will talk about it for sure.
You can be scared to run away from the scene, but the first thing you would do is to call someone like your wife or your manager to talk abt it, and those people advice him to not show up till 2 days later? or himself decided it? Does it take you that long to overcome your scare? It must be alcohol. If you lie, lie well, or else don’t lie at all.
um like the cops in the patrol car that he hit couldn’t/didn’t just run the plates on the abandoned Cadillac (so common in Seoul…) and figure out whose car it was?? Which in all likelihood they must have… something doesn’t add up. I say he was called in and or had to turn self in.

He must have been drunk/drinking. Otherwise he would have tried to get away. Since he ran away, he can now apologize and not have any proof against him being under the influence. Sorry, but there is no way you can be “scared” into hitting 3 things sequentially.
It’s pretty hilarious to imagine though, since no one got hurt. I can just imagine him running down the street. Pretty dumb, but I think he will get out of this one. I just hope he pays the normal consequence. Just because he’s famous doesn’t mean he should get off easy. It’s not a cool thing to do at all.

Just want to add, this KSW is a professional liar without blinking his eyes. As I recalled before he got married, he said his wife was pregnant, but within a period of less than 10 months, he got a son!! Who is he trying to kid?
He waited for 2 days lapse before coming forward and pleading for leniency? Wonder any CCTVs at the alley which might have captured his hillarious actions and any possibility of him nearly hitting someone (police or pedestrians) before hitting the trees?
It is pertinent for the police to press charges on restless driving with an intent to causing harm on others. It would be so brave of him to go through a full body check-up i.e. blood test, urine test and take sample of his hair to test for drugs!!
This is the first sign of a leakage of emotional instability, and I believe we are going to hear a lot more about him in the future!! Wonder will he be threading the footsteps of Nicolas Tse?
