I’d heard the rumors, but now it’s confirmed: Park Min-young (Ja Myung Go) has been chosen as the lead in Sungkyunkwan Scandal, the “campus youth sageuk” drama that follows a group of popular students studying at Sungkyunkwan, an institute of higher learning established in the Joseon era.
Park will be the next young actress to dress as a male, as did Yoon Eun-hye in Coffee Prince, Park Shin-hye in You’re Beautiful, and Moon Geun-young in Painter of the Wind. Her character enters Sungkyunkwan in place of her sick younger brother, and she’ll form a romantic relationship with Micky Yoochun‘s character. She’s a bright student and smart character with the ability to solve problems.
Park is the last to be cast (she replaces Jung Da-young, who had been cast earlier) and joins castmates Micky Yoochun, Song Joong-ki, and Yoo Ah-in. The drama began filming on May 27 and is looking for a premiere date later this year. But first, viewers will be able to see her acting in the special four-episode drama Running, which premieres this Thursday on MBC.

As long as she can act she can have all the plastic surgery she wants and she was believable in this wonderful drama. Love her.

HOHO. When I heard this drama, immediately I really want to watch this drama. The synopsis made me get stuck in my mind so I have to make sure me and my family will not miss this different drama. Park Min Young good luck.

However is the main actually YooChun. I was expecting YooAhIn as I loved him in some of his previous drama. JoongKi is quite ok also in WISC. I hope YooChun character is like hongki’s ones in U’re Beautiful bcuz we had other actors that is more experienced in drama plus Park Min Young.
I hope it turns out well. Hope this does’nt fight with Seunggi drama cuz i don;t want ratings fighting or should i say i don’t want me to stuck 2 dramas at one time. Juz like CS and PT..
@ mad-oax: yeah, this is true…but at least her surgeries look pretty natural, especially when compared to, say, seo woo or seo in young. (disclaimer: i think seo woo is a pretty good actress and seo in young was cute with crown-j on wgm, so i’m not dissing their talent or anything…just sayin’) =/
I think she’ll be great if her cross dressing consists majority of historical outfits, just like Son Ye Jin from ‘Great Expectations,’ ‘Moon Geun Young of ‘Painter of the Wind,’ and Lee Yo Won of QSD.
I don’t think people have to worry whether she’ll come off better than Go Eun Chan of Coffee Prince and Go Mi Nam of You’re Beautiful.
Go Mi Nam’s role was more challenging because of modern setting and Go Eun Chan’s role was even more difficult without the glamor and makeups for her natural role in modern settings. Cross dressing performance should be easier with the historical drama settings..and it has been done many times recently by Han Hye Jin in Jae Joong Won. All of their performance seemed good.
Since this drama is seem to be taking place in Joseon era, I think she’s good enough to pull off a good performance.

I think she`ll able to pull it off as a boy, she can be fierce when she needs to. I love her in Ja Myung Go. Fighting!! I only hope the main lead is Song Joong-ki or Yoo Ah-in. That`ll be great!!

I await this (in eager anticipation). It’s good to know she CAN act, too. I’m still really really iffy about Micky. Although the rest of the cast – SONG JOONGKI SONG JOONGKI – is just clawing at me to put this on the top of my to-watch list. LOL.
