I posted a batch of stills from My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho a few days ago, but here are a couple more. And honestly, I think (I hope?) that my favorite thing about this drama is going to be Lee Seung-gi. Specifically, wimpy Lee Seung-gi! Because who else is tired of macho men and perfect princes? (But I see a lot of comic potential for the scary-beautiful gumiho role as well, if Shin Mina can deliver.)
Currently, the drama is also hosting a contest event on its official website, which is asking for fans to design potential logos for the show. (This seems like it could be an attempt to get fan participation revved up in anticipation of the site, but I wonder how we can be three weeks away from the premiere and still not have a main logo designed. Maybe two birds, one stone?)
Lee said, “We’re busy filming without much time for rest, but I’m so curious to know what happens in the next script. I want to see the completed drama right away. I think it may be the birth of a kind of comic drama that we haven’t seen yet.”
My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho premieres on SBS on August 11.
This one’s my favorite. Who else thought immediately of Totoro?

Shin Mina doesn’t come cheap you know – so there had to be cutbacks in the art department. It’s okay, because I believe in the mad Photoshopping skills of the average South Korean drama watcher. Plz someone do one with a tail worked into it.
I’m getting quite excited about this drama.
JB, yes, I’d like to see a wimpy hero. I like underdogs and for some reason LSG’s character is giving me Ho Sang’s vibes (from Flowers for my life). Think when HS spends the first night at the parlour, but he’s scared and asks Ha-na to stay with him or, well, pretty much any moment in the first few eps of the series.
I LOVE THE THIRD PICTURE OF LSG!! LSG may be dorky, but he still comes off as being “perfect” most of the time haha – so it’s really refreshing to see him being this character =)
Sooo looking forward to this lsg is kinda cute and i’ve only seen sma in the naked kitchen them combined with the hong sisters should be a fun watch

Besides Lee Seung-gi’s adorkableness, I am actually getting really excited about Shin Mina’s character too, because she really is going to be something different from the usual kdrama heroine types. I mean, did she steal his shirt in preparation for stealing his liver? What more craziness can we expect from her? Do gumihos get happy endings, that don’t involve the consumption of human body parts? I sorta love her already, and am really intrigued as to how this story is going to unfold.

I have seen all the stills you posted for this upcoming drama. While I do like Lee, I actually really like Shin Mina’s eyes in most of the stills. They are scary, freaky, weird and expressive all at once. This drama seems to be quite fun!
I’m getting the feeling, just from your coverage on this site, that the vibe between the lead couple of this drama might be reminiscent of Cha Tae-Hyun and Jeon Ji-Hyun in My Sassy Girl. In a good way.
I’d watch for LSG’s smile alone. We didn’t get to see much of it in a lot of Shining Inheritance.

While I was reading this post, Neyo song “Beautiful Monster” was playing on my ipod.
I’ve only seen LSG in Brilliant Legacy and Shin Mina in A Millionaire’s First Love (took me a while to remember where I saw her-wow, that’s bad) and found both of them to be in the “meh” category of ratings.
But I think LSG might just steal my heart in this drama…at least I hope so

Lee Seung Gi shows so much potential as a comedy actor….and i think hosting a show with Kang Ho Dong helps him so much to improve his comedic timing and so.
Now he can throw witty comments in Strong Heart, and being funny MC…I don’t think he was that funny in early days of 1 Night 2 Days.

I love the new crop of male heroes who are flawed and downright wimpy. Down with the aloof chaebol hero!
Kdrama got a lot more interesting starting out with the string of OCD heroes starting with YKS in Who Are You to Hwang Tae Kyung in YB to Park Gyu in Tamna the Island. How cute was HTK fear of rabbits as well as Park Gyu’s fastidious bathroom behavior.
More recently there’s Ki Hoon from CU who is well intentioned but totally ineffective and weak when it comes to helping the girl loves. If CU had better story and execution, I think KH ‘s character could have been really interesting. The idea of a wimpy hero may not work yet for melo but it could in a comedy.
I AM SO EXCITED.
This is my next drama after Coffee House. I can’t wait! It’s good to have a short break in between.

I’m going to give this a shot b/c of SMA (while I think LSG is nearly perfect for the part of the “dorky” male, he never particularly showed much screen presence or charisma whenever I have seen him on variety shows like X-Man).
Anyway, maybe “My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho” will turn out to be a good one, but I think it may be asking too much for another good drama so soon (“Coffee House” and “Dong Yi” are the best 2 dramas I’ve seen since “Coffee Prince”).
