A couple new promos are out for spy drama Athena, and oh, I see how it’s gonna be: They’re going to milk this “character cut” business for as long as possible.
First we had main hero Jung Woo-sung in his set of cuts, and now we’ve got fellow lead Cha Seung-won. This drama has a seriously large cast, so we could be doing this for a while — still yet to come are Su Ae, Kim Min-jong, Lee Bo-young, Lee Jia, and Choi Siwon.
Cha plays Sohn Hyuk, an agent who once worked for the CIA. He has a “fateful meeting” with the agents of the NTS, who mobilize to rescue the Korean president’s daughter when she is kidnapped in Italy. (The NTS is the counterterroism organization for which most of the main characters work.) He is a key force in Athena, which is a secret organization (like IRIS in the original series) that aims to seize power. I’d previously been unsure whether he’d be a straight-up bad guy or a dark type of good guy, but this article describes him clearly as a cold, villainous character “with neither blood nor tears” who has been grooming his organization’s agents to be human weapons. Yeah, I can see it.

That’s CSW’s real tattoo of his daughter Rachel as an angel. Which frankly undercuts his villiany just a tad. So let’s not talk about it and pretend it’s a shark or something. Cannot wait to see his tackle a dark and vicious character. I might have to watch an episode of Athena followed by any episode of City Hall to temper my desire to hate on his evil.

They can milk these pics as much as they want, I was in it because of Cha Seung-won and I cannot wait. Just throw some pics at me until the show starts, I’ll be happy.
honestly, i’m ok with his tattoo.. what i don’t like is his mustache. sorry, facial hair just doesn’t look good on everybody.. ^^

WTF is with this “character cut” business? Every time I hear it, I think the character’s literally been removed from the drama.
@5 ockoala: I don’t know if it really undercuts the villainy thing. We can try to take it from the “Angel of Death” perspective so it could fit with the villain look. But, that kind of kills the whole children as gifts from heaven thing that Kelela was talking about. I wonder if they will just keep it covered during the actual series.
Anyways, this bites. I wanted him to be an awesome bad guy that’s really a good guy. But hey, if he makes an awesome bad guy, I will enjoy every minute of watching his body. I mean him, as in, his acting.

i really want to say that “I am Rachel”….. but they said that the rachel in the tattoo is the name of his daughter.
Finger on the trigger, yet again. I don’t understand how the Korean entertainment industry can consistently keep making this error when most of the people involved have served two years in the military. You rarely see this mistake done in Japan.

when i watched CSW in a drama series ‘in-laws war’ with choi jin-shil sometime 1996 or 97 i fell in love with him, and now 2010 already i still love him…this must be true love..and my husband can’t do anything about it haha

Does anyone even read the previous posts? RACHAEL is his daughter, he explained his tattoo some time ago. Anyway, he is most definitely smexy. I for one, believe he can pull off the tattoo as well as facial hair in a grown and sexy kind of way! Looking forward to watching this drama.

Jung Woo-sung acting is also silly and sometimes forced. The script does not help him either. He is so obviously deemd the star that directions are all contrived – always giving him slow motion shots and the camera staying him for longer than is necessary when he is not doing anything. Yukkky poooh
Athena the only time I wanted the bad guys to win. CSW is one hot bad guy. I like the picture with the tattoo it goes with him I could stare at it for hours…
I only watched Athena b/c of CSW. The plot was slow and boring at times, a bit unoriginal. And I kept hoping the bad guy would win cause he was the only one that was interesting. Honestly he was the only thing that kept the show going… even when he was taken out he went out with a bang leaving you heartbroken. If he somehow came out on top, the show would have done much better, and been much more interesting. I like the other lead actor but his character was such a goofball and annoying I kept hoping his character would get a beat down.lol. It’s just too bad the plot was good but not wow!
UMPF! the SEXIEST man ever and TOTAL package! I find him crazily attractive; i like his clean face BUT freak’n love his facial hair and tattoos. Personally I love his long legs and walk! I can die happily watching him catwalk jeans all day!
NOW totally gonna watch this! He’s such an awesome actor, does a very fine job and has lots of charisma. Still has me fool whenever he alter roles from good guys to bad guys in his films.
