I Am Legend finally has its leading man

Oh, cute: Lee Jun-hyuk has been added to SBS’s I Am Legend, making him the leading man to the drama’s star Kim Jung-eun.

His character, named Jang Tae-hyun, is a famous session musician (a professional musician for hire who often works in recording sessions for other artists). He’s curt and stubborn and has a lot of pride in his music, and because of his personality, he’s sort of a social misfit and doesn’t actually want to work with anybody. (Talk about professional identity crisis — the very nature of his job requires him to be available to work with others.) As a result, he tries to branch out into songwriting, instead of merely working under someone else.

Divorced Tae-hyun raises his 7-year-old son alone, and despite his attitude toward other adults, as a father he is warm and affectionate. He inadvertently gets involved with the band fronted by Jeon Seol-hee (her name is a pun on the word for “legend” and the character is played by Kim Jung-eun); she decides to make a comeback after her marriage to a high-powered lawyer from an uppity family fails.

Lee Jun-hyuk had a few supporting roles in dramas like A Star’s Lover and City Hall, but it was his recent turn as the youngest son in Three Brothers that shot him to mainstream fame. I had to quit watching that drama because many of the characters made my blood boil, but his storyline was one of the redeeming factors as he romanced Oh Ji-eun‘s character with confidence and boyish charm.

He is currently devoting himself to vocal and guitar training. He says, “I’ve always liked music, but I haven’t tried making it myself. Thanks to I Am Legend, I’m learning how to sing and play guitar. Since the character of Jang Tae-hyun is a skilled and famous session man, I’m practicing every day so that I don’t come across as awkward.”

I Am Legend will follow Coffee House on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Oh I loved him in both A Stars Lover and City Hall. But sadly I am really meh about Kim Jung Eun. Still, good luck to his first male lead role and this project! If Kim Suh nah had stayed on board, it would have been a wink wink at thoe roles on CH which didn't cross but you could tell his character had a tendre for KSA.

Oh, this is fantastic news. We KNEW he was a leading man masquerading as a second fiddle! What a cutie...and I'm with ockoala, I wish I were as excited about the leading lady, but I can't really say why. I haven't seen her in anything so I have no real basis for feeling that way.

It would have been weird / hilarious if Kim Sun-ah had stayed with the project...Shin Mi-rae would be hooking up with Ha Soo-in! :-D

Lee Joon Hyuk is so adorable! I put up with 10 episodes of Three Brothers for him before I had to drop the drama to save myself from high blood pressure. I'm so glad he's in something else now.

@ ockoala
Word on Kim Jung Eun! I've only seen her in General Hospital 2, and I didn't mind her so much after a while, but something about her still grates. Maybe her gravelly voice, I dunno.

ahh, and to think if sun ah was still with the project, she would be working with a fellow city hall cast member! i thought he was really cute (and acted well) as soo-in in city hall and knew he would gain popularity from there. hopefully he and kim jung eun will have great chemistry! (funny how his character in city hall kinda like shin mi rae too hahaha)

Oh yeah this man is definitely worth watching!!!! Hot and makes me drool all the time!! :) :) But sadly I stopped Three Brothers at like episode 27 because I just can't stand the mother and the eldest daughter-in-law. Watching them makes me lose my appetite..

So happy that Lee Jun Hyuk has finally finished the Three Brothers and starts something new! The family drama drove me crazy and it was really too long for young Lee, he should take on more roles in mini dramas and movies! Hope he will take on leading roles in movies as well.

I am so happy that he gets to be a lead now! He was the only one I was watching Three Brothers for, since he was so cute and charming in it. His character was the only refreshing one of the bunch, since all the other family members were really irritating. Am really looking forward to seeing him in this.

I sat up and took notice of this cutie in City Hall and really wanted to see more of him. However, like a lot of other people, I really feel 'meh' about Kim Jung Eun. Maybe she'll surprise me and I'll like her in this role, at least one can always hope.

I share the same sentiments of the City-Hallers; I would have loved... loved... loved... a Kim Sun-Ah - Lee Jun-hyuk tandem. But I will have an open mind.

I like the storyline so I will watch out for this.

@Leona... I swooned at the photo posted by javabeans... casual and funky with his moussed-up hair.

Also, he's SO GOOD LOOKING!
Okay i'm shallow! but still. who's not going to drool at the sight of a face like that

Now, I`m thankful that KSA dropped this project, I`m a solid City haller and I want
good memories about this drama remain forever just like the actors character in the drama, I will also feel weird if KSA and So-in will have a lovey-dovey scene in I`am Legend.
I will just skip from watching this drama.

I agree most with City Hallers. It would have be awesome if Kim Sun Ah was the lead.

He's 8 years younger than Kim Jung-eun, but I think he looks mature enough to pull the romance off in a way that differs from the noona-dongsaeng relationships ^___^ Not that I don't like those XD Somehow I can't imagine him saying noona XD

I really think this drama is going to be lots of fun, I can't wait!

Fellow CityHallers I'm with you! It would have been awesome if Suna stayed on I Am Legend. We'll get to have our MiRae-SooIn love story this time... kkk
I'm happy for LJH. He deserves a lead role!
And super envious with KJE... so she'll get to kiss him now? MiRae should have stolen a kiss from him last year... >.<

I kinda liked KJE in Lovers In Paris, shame I didn't stick it through, didn't like the male lead and it was obvious she wasn't going to end up with Lee Dong-gun.
This sounds really exciting, especially with the rock music element.

Ditto comments of most City Hallers: wouldn't it be nice to re-team Shin Mi-rae and Ha Soo-in...... Anyway, the storyline really shapes up to be interesting with the lead character so written. The only thing that keeps me from it is probably KJE but I'll give it a try. She is not bad as an actress but I just don't find her endearing as a leading lady.

Liked him in Worlds Within, loved him in City hall and he's the reason why Three brothers is still on my to-watch list (guess I'll do lots of fast-forwarding with that drama, heh?). I'm SO excited now, but I'm with Ockoala and langdon813 on this; I'm meh about the leading lady. I'll try to be open-minded though.

That said, I'm really, really happy for Lee Jun-hyuk. I was waiting for him to land a leading role in a romcom. He's really good imo!

I overslept for this topic. Look, I claimed *mine* somewhere on this website somewhere. Therefore it is in stone or something. I am so happy he has another job, Three Brothers really wore me down man. Let's hope KJE doesn't kill the magic for us all.

i used to be one who said im happy kim sun ah didnt take this role... but as a loyal Cityhaller, now im sort of sorry KSA didnt pursue this... how nice for a soo-in & mi-rae team up... this guy was just adorable in Cityhall... can we get kim sun ah back please to be with Jun Hyun????

i agree with all cityhallers... this guy deserves to get the lead role... hooray for soo-in!!!

I will definitely watch IAL. I have always liked him in City Hall and Three Brothers. It is good that he is finally on the road to fame on his own merit. It would have been really a good one if Kim Suna is still the leading lady. But I do like KJE so I hope this drama makes good ratings. I am happy for LJH!

I don't think Kim Suna and Lee match with each other. It is a bit odd they have romance scenes (kissing?). I don't know the leading lady, she seems quite mature and is not that kind of "pretty girl" type. Anyway, so happy that Lee Junhyuk takes on the leading role and look forward to watching this drama!

Oooh!

Ah! i already remember seeing his face that it really reminds me of watching that drama "City Hall" -- I enjoy seeing Cha Seung Won and Lee Jun Hyuk, oh boy! =)

That's very great for him to join this drama --- Oh aigoo, I wish that my favorite actress Kim Sun Ah would work with him together that it'd be awesome, lolz. Oh well, I hope that Kim Sun Ah will have another drama to affect to me to become so excitedly, heh! (I'm still rooting for Kim Sun Ah)

I agree with most of the comments in that:

I will watch this for Lee Jun Hyuk
The storyline is interesting.
I surely wish Kim Sun Ah was still on board ( initial reason for watching)
and I am not that big a KJE fan.

This cute actor caught my eye in Star's Lovers as the ever loyal, protective and funny bodyguard of Choi Ji Woo. Surely "I AM LEGEND" is something to look forward to see because of the cast most specially with Lee Jun Hyuk as the lead actor.
