Wow will I be the first for once? It's been pouring rain all day and night and it looks like it will be that way all weekend. I saw Taeyang at a fan signing the other day, but I didn't get to get mine signed because you had to have some ticket. I was really sad, but at least I saw him and captured it with my camera and boy is that man FINE. His smile makes me melt!!! Well since it's raining I finally get to wear my rain boots. I want the weekend to end so I can see the last two episodes of Coffee Prince. I've been on edge since ep 14.

Happy Friday OTF:)

Happy Friday people! What a fast week this has been for me. Going to Italy next week, anyone have any suggestions about behaving in the culture, e.g. restaurants, tipping? Excited, but a total novice.
How much do I love Bad Guy? It really came when I had just the mood for something like this. Here's to hoping it continues to be good! And I still like Gun-wook very much. They better give him justice and a satisfying ending, he's in so much pain and discontent with everything. Then again, I wish Tae-ra and Tae-sung wouldn't get hurt, either. Don't really know where this drama will end. And that's a good thing!

Just saw the most recent episode of Bad Guy and I've got to say - Moon Jae-in - WTF.

Otherwise, the weather's been horrible - blazing hot one day, pouring rain the next. I woke up in time to be late enough to not bother going to my morning class... instead went shopping and bought myself a ton of things. I'm not quite sure why. It's the first time I've done something like that. I guess you've just got to have one of those days...

Oh hey I finally get to join one of these things..

I'm so glad the weekend is here because I finally get to rest up. I got diagnosed with a mild case of dengue fever last week but had to continue working on several work deadlines while recovering. Thank God it was just a mild case and I shook off the fever after a two day's rest. I didn't get any rashes or anything.

I'm currently into Japanese Dramas these days. None of the current Kdrama fare interests me enough as of this moment. I'm waiting for the Hong Sisters' new drama and Athena (for Choi Siwon and Cha Seung-Won of course!).

But anyways, any Korean and/or Jap movies or drama suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, JB I'm really enjoying the Kdrama Glossary entries you and GF are doing. It's very entertaining and informative ^_^

@ Stee..Have fun in Italy. Unfortunately I can't give you tips coz I've never been there hehehe but if you have any questions regarding traveling to south east asia then let me know (unless you're from around here already LOL).

Really appreciate the huge effort that is clearly put into this website, especially the recaps!

It's a terrible thing when your days become regimented according to k-dramas, and I don't know anyone else here in Ireland who indulgences in them like I do!

Oh man, I'm a serious Coffee House addict now. (it invokes excessive amounts of squeeing and mad crazy giggles!) I can't even begin to imagine how it's going to end! On the other hand, I'm quite eager for it to come to a close quickly just so enough time for a relationship between Jin-Soo and Seung-Yeon isn't afforded.

Really excited to watch Bad Guy and King of Baking as well!!!

Thank you so much! :)

After starting (and quickly stopping) A Man Called God, I craved Song Il Gook in a role where he didn't possess the awful gelled hair and the weird costumes. I considered Terms of Endearment, but... yeah, it's Terms of Endearment - where Han Ga In becomes both the worst liar in the world, while being so gullible and naiive that she continues to spout the most insane lies ever. argh, I only watched that for my pretty-boys, Song Il Gook and Ji Sung, frankly.

Anyways, I avoid Period dramas (hence Jumong and Sea God is out of the running). So I pick up Lobbyist, which I dropped a year before since the characterization of Jang Jin Young's Maria stopped resonating with me. I love main characters who slowly go off the deep end, while chasing revenge. It's entertaining, it's interesting, and when done right, it's downright fascinating. But all the men in Maria's life are thoroughly seduced by her, and keep on helping her, etc. even when they see some of the tragic consequences of the games which she plays. I started hating the OTP, since Gook kept on coming back... and I wasn't sure if there was any genuine feelings on Maria's part.

Maria - Jang Jin Young didn't do any of the "See me raise my eyebrow? THAT MEANS I AM PLOTTING" stuff. She actually *acted*. And a little too well, since I could never tell if her actions were genuine or not... unless her facade was broken when she was alone.

I have to say that Lobbyist has one of the best "first-meetings between OTP" scenes, when Maria and Harry meet again in the US. It was definitely one of the most unique ones ^^

hey guys! happy friday!

i am not watching any current dramas, instead i am missing kim rae won, and so decided to try "what star did you come from?" i appreciate dramabeans' recaps and reviews, because now i could tell what had been missing in dramas like this. it is such a pity because it could have been very good, but it was not well written. i love both kim rae won and jung ryeo won here.

also the glossaries and the pop culture posts help me a lot too. thank you again dramabeans and enjoy the weekend everyone!

i keep telling myself i'm gonna start a jdorama, but alas, i'm the biggest liar (or procrastinator) that i know--so i have yet to start Nodame.. even tho i really really do want to. next week, i'm starting.. i really really am going to start... watching a drama again.

i start school again on Monday.. i've been out for 7 yrs.. scared, excited, anxious to go back.. hopefully no more nightmares between now and then. i'm really looking forward to being in a city that i can actually go out to eat decent food too, so a total plus for going back to school. ha!

so psyched for SHINee's comeback!! MY Jonghyun looks amazing! in the teasers.

been waiting for your recap of Coffee House episodes 13 and 14... :) i always enjoy reading your comments...
you have no idea how many times i visit this site everyday.... and by the way, you totally influence me when it comes to choosing the dramas i should watch... Thanks to you i watched SOULMATE (I visited your drama ratings and saw it's one of your favorites)... now it has become one of my favorites too! I LOVED it a lot!... that was one excellent drama...

Happy weekend to you and to all your faithful readers! ^_________________^

I think that Coffee House is only 16 episodes. It seems impossible for the writers to neatly wrap up the story in 2 more episodes. There doesn't seem to be any possible way to create any believable new romances and I am really afraid that they will do something awful like killing off JS (heaven forbid!!!).

Good morning and Happy Friday!!

I went to a churrascaria last nite in BH and consumed an unreal amount of food. as in i am still full right now and can't even think about the dinner plans i have tonight. ugh. but man o man have i missed that place. their brazilian cheese bread (pao de queijo) is freaking amazing and they have the besssst picanha ever. not to mention their caprese - sooo fresh. yes i had caprese at an ayce bbq joint haha. it's seriously a place i can only go to once a year or else i'd die from food overdose. it's just so damn good ha.

anyway, i'm in a drama slump. i can't find anything i want to watch lately. i guess i'm just waiting for Athena and MGiaG... chillin till then.

@lb_tmi me too!!! they look so good, and the song sounds really good :)

First time on one of these things. Finishing up my film class, helping out with the editing and publicity for the short film we shot. it's been a really fun experience, and I'm thinking about maybe writing a script in my free time once this is done. My practice exercise will be rewriting the ending to Personal Taste because for some reason it just doesn't sit well with me. Yes, everything was fine at the end, but the way they got there just seemed wrong to me. The characters departed from their usual personalities (or at least, the ones I expected) and then came right back as if that little personality glitch never happened. I want to get rid of Jinho's silly breaking up with Kae-in, and I'd like Kae-in to have a little more fight in her. it might work, it might not... we'll have to see.

Happy Friday!

I've been waiting for this day all week---so I can do MORE work. *sigh* It's been busy and stressful and I haven't had time to really focus and work on this project for work- a project that I'm not sure if I can even pull off. A lot of things kept on popping up. It's nice to have some time to make some progress and to be left alone. I love people, but sometimes i need to be alone to recharge.

I ended up watching a good chunk of My Country Calls last weekend after hearing some good things about the humor. The humor is great and cleverly delivered, and i love how the drama is more like a parody version of a police/spy-genre show. The only down part is that the heroine can be quite annoying. I loved her shameless and scatterbrain self in the beginning, but i thought there should have been more character development by like ep 12 or 13. The real highlight is Ryu Jin's narcissist character!

Soulmate fan #4 here! Happy Friday all!
I'm looking forward to finishing my country calls tomorrow, I think it will be my first kdrama dvd purchase when it comes out - LOL scenes everytime I watch it.

Speaking of LOL, have any of you guys seen the email thread javabeans posted on twitter? I was literary on my floor laughing, and when I could hardly breath my dad started worrying that I was actually crying. Anyway, here is the link:

http://jezebel.com/5582562/clueless-secretary-makes-for-hilarious-office-email-thread

In other news, I started working out in earnest for the first time since school got out in May, and now I'm so sore I can hardly move! But I'm going to the beach in 3 weeks with my sisters so I've got to keep working on it. My love of ddukbokki and ramyun threatens my plans though...

Happy Friday everyone!!!

So happy to be off work today, and the weekend is off to a great start. Weighed myself this morning and I have lost 7 pounds woohoo!!! Then went to a 90min massage with foot soak (lovely), and now plans for tomorrow with some of my favorite girls!!!

Can't wait for Coffee House to finish so I can watch it marathon style... The only drama I waited for week to week was Personal Taste, and the anticipation nearly killed me, so I have decided to just watch everything all at once. Will have to make an exception for Athena and SS though...

Currently watching TDrama "Fated to Love You"... couldn't really find a kdrama I could seriously get into, so this will do for now...

Hope everyone has a fun and safe weekend...

Finished 'Will it snow for Christmas?' and it was good. Love both the leading actors , the actor's mom , she was fantastic, also both leads in their younger days. Happy to watch this one.

As for CH, just end it fast,
the writer stretches JS /EY thing for too long, some of my anticipation has died down . Hope against hope, the shipper wars won't hurt the storyline and the ending, and please don't end it like 'My Love Patzzi' where the writer afraid to lose both ways. They are trying too hard to balance out the scene between JS/EY and JS/SY
( which I honestly don't understand why??????). This makes the drama losing its charms and getting ridiculous( at least to me).

Have a nice weekend to you all.

Any Summer Desire's watchers here? It's not everyone's cup of tea - it's either crap or crack depending who you are. Anyhoo, what I want to say is: Peter Ho as Ouchen is the man of the year! Totally falling in love with this character and Peter's portrayal. I like how he is able to show subtly the painful but gradual changes of his character over the several phases of the story from one obsessive guy to the most tender ever husband. (I couldn't care a thing about Huang Xiao Ming's Louxi on the other hand and his acting is just acting.) The second half of the drama is worth waiting and in fact, I feel like watching the Brontes. Will go back to re-read the book now that I finished watching the whole drama.

I'll most likely write more on this on the episode post...but i just had to get this off my chest. No spoliers...i promise. But....

I am not loving these angst episodes of coffee house. I thought my heart would break this week. Not to give anything away....but isn't EY acting out of character. I understand why the writer did this....but it just feels sooooo out of character for her.

haha. this is my first time posting on an open thread..
it's around 2a.m. here right now..i'm in korea for my summer vacation, and i think i may be suffering insomnia(either that or i've just been sleeping/waking up waaayy too late), so i was thinking of what to do,, and thought of dramabeans:P
javabeans+girlfriday:
both of you(and all the other recappers) are just epically awesome. i actually don't think i'd be able to do anything without this site.
this is my go-to place for when i don't have enough time to or am restricted from(mostly the latter) watching dramas..I am so glad that all of the people on this site share my addiction. i love you all:)
javabeans, you probably won't get a chance to read this, but if you do, how do you know all of these GREAT songs and artists?? i have discovered so much new music thanks to you:D since i'd never really listened to the openthread songs before(mostly just the ones in your recaps), i am now going through all of your threads to find more :) i hope you never stop:)

And just as a thought to put out there, how many people here are in their early teens(i.e. me)?? been wondering about that.
now i shall crawl back into bed, shut my eyes, count sheep(THAT IS A SCAM. NEVER WORKS. wellfor me anyways..- -), and hope i get some sleep:) night!

I'm marathoning My County Calls also, and must agree with @asianromance that I expected a bit more. It seemed to take 7 episodes to set up, and I'm not seeing much chemistry between what I think is supposed to be the main couple. I'd rather he went back to his old girl friend & she went with the director. And I don't like the mother AT ALL. Anyway, 4 episodes to go, then I start Alone in Love, which my new KDrama buddy is watching, so we can talk about it. We have so far only watched one drama in common (Hotelier) so can only talk in Kdrama generalities. Watching Jdrama Miyashimon each week without subs because I actually read the first volume of the manga (my one & only manga cover to cover) & can figure out what is happening; it may become harder as they move into stories from later volumes.

W00t! Some Coffee House discussion I can join in! This is kinda long and ranty, so please bare with me...

****SPOILERS****

COFFEE HOUSE EP14&15!!! It keeeeels me!!  JS&EY- they’re so perfect for each other and so in love – you just want to ram their heads together and say: “Make out already!”

I'm probably in the minority - but I actually really enjoy where the story has taken us. I mean seriously, how real does the EY&JS situation feel? Two people like each other, but they keep missing the timing…and eventually they just have so much history and so much hurt that it’s hard for them to get together even though they really want to. When you're young, you think that every person that has chemistry should and can be together no matter what. But as you get older, you start to realize that’s not how life works. He came back to propose to her, but since she has already moved on…all he can do is to do whatever she asks. In order for her to move on, she wants to believe that he’s happy and ok – and that’s what he’s trying to do. He even gives her the choice as to whether to hear him tell the truth or for him to keep lying to her and she chose for him to keep lying.

In real life, we come with a lot of emotional baggage and unfortunately, sometimes, it hurts more to be in a relationship then to not be. To be honest, after all of their history together, I don’t think she can ever fully trust him – and what’s a relationship without trust?

As for JiWon – he’s ssooo random and crazy that somehow…someway….it actually just works. –lol- Like, she used to like the JinSoo who isn’t exactly normal. I’d imagine all the 100+ dates of hers really felt boring and pale in comparison to him. JiWon, even though he’s crazy, at least he cracks her up and keeps her on her toes. And with the last 2 years he’s proven his devotion to her and shown her a dependability that she couldn’t get from JinSoo.

Man, I don’t think I’ve enjoyed a series like this in awhile (the last time was probably with 9 Ends 2 Outs) where I don’t fastforward through any scenes and really like listening to the dialogue between the characters. The words don’t sound too cheesy or drama-like…they feel light, but full of meaning and more importantly – realistic! I really really rreeaaallly hope they don’t ruin the last 4 episodes because so far I’m loving this!

PS. What’s up with DongWook’s new hair? 0_o looks like a mushroom cap. Bring back the adorable curly locks please!

Hi all!!!
It's OT time again (tho technically Saturday now here, and still rushing for a grp. requirement, ha!)

I was supposed to be #14, but my sister's laptop's net connection f-ed off, I was so pissed!

I missed lounging here in OT land...

5 weeks of studying has left my head spinning, I wanna take a break! (taking a leaf out of Nichkhun, hahaha...hadn't watched WGM yet & Khuntoria what-nots...)

So basically an effing typhoon named after a halmeoni comes and goes...then what...poof! 말도 없이...
...ednuring 15 or so hours of no power, internet, cellphone signal, & telephone.

So mummy had copies of PT, CS, & OML...she finished PT thoroughly enjoying it, CS halting at ep.2 since she couldn't take all the HEAVY drama (and the pissy character of Eun-jo)...and OML, well, dunno when she'll start...she's currently watching one of Lee Gyu-han & Oh Dae-gyu's former dramas (forgot title)...

Suddenly miss Jay Leadja, hope his contract signing with Sidus goes well...

Hello again, hello my random ramblings, hehehe...

I would go into a coffee house diatribe of supreme joy about how much I am loving this show right now, but I am sure most of what I wish to say is being typed or will be typed in this thread anyway.

______

To anyone who gave up on Tsuki No Koibito(Moon Lovers) or never even tried it. Watch the last 2 hour episode. It was really good and should have been this standalone piece from the begining. It was a complete movie and told a great story. This speak volumes about the rest of the drama and it's total worth, but that last episode was fantastic. I actually cheered.

Gunwook, too, I guess. :).
but geez... it seems like the show is hell bent on showing the worst in everyone! which is fascinating and interesting, but not so good for my fragile heart.

@ 26 epyc

I agree with you about Peter Ho in Summer's Desire! I'm not especially caring about the female lead or 2nd lead and the story line.....seems pretty grade B stuff and she's really loose with her affections. Had never seen Peter Ho before but I like his portrayal and that really "cool" attitude. The other guy reminds me of a "pretty" boy. I got curious so I do know about the finale. :-)

Local station airing Giant right now....last night was episode 3....I'll watch the re-run today. Episode more about the older boy right now. I like the younger brother who is taking charge of his sister after mother died. Really good acting.

Been enjoying Spring Waltz....discovered it while looking for Daniel Henney! I'm not so much into his acting....he needs to loosen up and get into character. Or is it his voice that doesn't have enough emotion it sounds monotone no matter what the situation. Anyway....at least the male and females leads are making up for the lack because they sure have neat chemistry. I was laughing because Choi Si-won was a kid and looks so cute....he still has the same facial expressions as in OML.

Coffee House starts up soon....I think it airs Sunday. And then Bad Guy comes on next week on the 21st. I think I'll pass on CH because so far I'm not crazy about it. But I will follow BG as I only watched episode 1 when it first came out. Local station airs SBS dramas so I'm happy!

Have a good weekend!

Nihonjin no Shiranai Nihongo aka omg it's Japanese Ma Hye Ri (kidding.... maybe.)

Riding on the bus to her new job, Kano Haruko (Naka Riisa) has no idea the gaijin she scolds on bus etiquette will soon be one of her students in an advanced Japanese class. When you start watching this you might be turned off with the over the top characters. However, it's not just exclusive to the gaijin students, Haruko is pretty crazy on her own. She's got the spirit to want to be a great teacher, but apparently is not equipped with a google-able search engine to answer all the weird intricacies of the Japanese language. One other amusing trait of Haruko is her passion for "gal" fashion. (I was amused the magazine she is featured in said "In Sibuya 209, SALE" on the back cover, which is a joke off of Shibuya 109 building...the holy temple of gal fashion or whatever.) A little witty, a little crazy, and will have separate stories for each student weekly. Watchable.

@ ilovekimchee

i have been reading this guy's old posts for the past 2 hours. the way he writes is just hilarious.

as for transferring videos onto your ipod, i believe all i did was change the extension of the file to make it ipod compatible. so depending on the capacity of your ipod that may be enough. however, if your ipod isn't an 80gb or something, there is a converter that can decrease the size of the file as well as change the extension so that you can fit what you want into the ipod. not sure what you prefer - there are a lot of converters out there on the web for you to try. i'd probably go to cnet in order to find a more legit program.

@Leonardswench: I AM absolutely enjoying "Fated to Love You", so much that I stayed up til 4 this past morning to try to squeeze some episodes in. I enjoyed "Autumn's Concerto" too, and that's probably what got me into watching TDramas while waiting for my next KDrama obsession to come out... Ethan Ruan IS a cutie-- very charming and kind of reminds me just a little of Lee Min Ho... it's the little boy smile, the height, and the looking- great- in- suits thing that makes me think of Min-Hosshi...

Just saw the pictures of my forever love Jung Woo Sung and Su Ae for Athena. I would absolutely love it if I wasn't dying of jealousy. What I would give to kiss that man!
