I’ll admit I haven’t been particularly interested in the horse-racing movie Grand Prix, which stars Kim Tae-hee (IRIS) and Yang Dong-geun (I Am Sam) as jockeys. However, the poster and trailer are out, and I am pleasantly surprised — the film looks better than I’d expected. It even sent a few shivers down my spine (yay for smart insert song selection).
(This is the film that Lee Jun-ki had to drop out of mid-shoot when he was called for military service. Yang was brought in as a replacement.)
The trailer starts with Kim Tae-hee’s voiceover: “To be honest, I’m scared. But I want to go anyway. Let’s race toward the end.” Toward the end, she says, “Have faith. In me… and you.”
And dare I say that for the first time, Kim seems to be acting? Kim Tae-hee is one of those actresses I like but whose work really hasn’t been commensurate with her level of success. She’s an undisputed CF queen and seems incredibly sweet and humble, but I’ve been disappointed in all her roles. I know this is only a 1-minute trailer, but I wonder if she’s finally starting to break through… I’d love it if that were true.
Grand Prix is planning for a September release.

I didn’t like her acting in Iris but oh well. I don’t think i’ll watch this movie even though it looks okay. maybe if i find myself with nothing to do at some point.

it looks reasonably good, but with the tons and tons of shows constantly piled up, probably not something i’d go looking up with much excitement. i do hope kim tae hee suddenly finds the on switch and manages to really connect as an actress. she’s so pretty and smart and sweet, it’d be unfair for her to be a natural actress too, but i wish her luck.
Wow! I was really surprised to like this trailer! And I’m also not a fan of Kim Tae Hee OR horse-racing movies. I may end up watching this!

To be honest, I watch things that Kim Tae Hee is in because she’s incredibly hot. Any acting is just a bonus.

This is killing me!!! I love YDG, but this drama just looks so lame!!! Being a former equestrian doesn’t help. Most of the horse scenes in dramas use the mechanical horses and it shows….I’ll have to watch his movies and dramas and listen to his cds to get over this while this airs.

@ #13 Nokcha: don’t worry.. this is just a movie. Only 2 hrs max to sit through. I think YDG’s role is more of a supporting role but I’m just glad to see him act again. And I think KTH will do okay in this movie. I do like to see him in a drama ASAP though.. with someone who act better than KTH of course.

thats my point too! i know she’s an average actress, but somehow what i love most about her is her personality. she’s kind, sweet & humble. not to forget she’s super pretty and smart too. i dont care about an actress who got looks and talent but have bad personality like: flirting around and care too much for her looks, even lied abt her beauty.
@rway, how do you know she’s totally humble-grow up baby…, there are lots other side of them that we don’t know, that’s why I prefer actresses who really show who they are. I have come across this actress who is right now is doing fine with her latest drama, always potrays her sweet humble, naive etc..then I found one of her photo with her male co-star with very ‘unhealthy relationship’..then I read bcos of that photo I hear she broke up with her boyfriend.
Some of the young sweet demure actresses also have lot of ‘sugar daddy’ who patron their career.

i guess as long as there’s no proof or evidence she (or anybody) has double faces, i’m going to think positive. its not right for us to label every actress who seems to be preserve and quite to have double faces, right? in fact, anybody can hide secrets, including actress who seems like she has showed everything and friendly.
Oooh, I am sure that my top favorite Kim Tae Hee has improve by her acting because of this movie, hopefully so! =)
