Woo-ri takes the lead in Alice
The upcoming movie Alice touts itself as a Koreanized Alice in Wonderland tale in the style of Tim Burton, and recently cast Bong Tae-kyu in one of the lead roles. Now the 19-year-old Woo-ri has been cast as the lead character of Mi-no, who is the Alice of this version.
Alice reinterprets the classic story and places it in modern Korea, but with a genre-bending style. The film will boast a cast of unique and quirky characters; leading them is Woo-ri’s character, who is a high school student, and Bong Tae-kyu as a killer. The story gets going amidst haunted ruins, strange presences, and murder.
This is Woo-ri’s first project in three years; she is probably best known for her role in KBS’s Supermom. Directing is Kim Chul-han, who directed the 2009 movie Outlaw starring Kam Woo-sung and Jang Shin-young.
Alice is scheduled to begin filming on September 2.
