Happy Friday!

I'm at college! School doesn't start until next Tuesday so I have some time to savor my dramas before putting them on hold. Honestly this is really going to suck. My Girlfriend is a Gumiho, SScandal, Playful Kiss?!

Ah well. Hopefully I can exercise some control this semester. I'm going to be in so much trouble if I don't. X_X

when feeling bad I look to dramas as well but I also look to "Cuppy cake" any random version on youtube will do. Did a quick search for a Kdrama related one to post here.

Looks like the guy from Goong :)

I think that character in 1% is the best little boy trapped in a man's body ever. Kang Dong Won deserved awards for that. A little more whiny and he would have been annoying instead of petulantly cute. A little more pouting and he would have come off as infantile instead of funny. He was amazing!

just watched Heartbreaker - yes, yes I know it is not korean ( it's french "L'arnacoeur "with vanessa paradis ie mrs jack sparrow) but it's an excellent rom-com!! the main attraction of K-dramas for me is the excellent chemistry and right balance of romance and comedy and this movie has it.....kinda like my girlfriend is an agent.
please don't kick me off ...:) after all this is OT ?

Happy Friday! Just wanted to drop by as I lurk and occasionally write something here and there. I love love Dramabeans. I still love the recaps and your great sense of music.

I am behind on dramas as LIFE is happening right now. *sigh. So all the dramas I want to watch I read the recaps for now and watch later. (I usually don't do this but internet has been weird and lack of time makes me do it.)

I am excited as I am heading to China and Korea later this month with the folks. They have not visited their homeland China in a long time. My korean language partner said she will return earlier to Korea to take me around and great me. I am excited. I have only 4 full days in Korea -1 day trip to Busan and 1 day trip to Kongju (due to my Korean friend teaching there and not being able to leave there-just had a baby).

My parents cannot eat too spicy so it will be interesting. We got HK, Macau, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing and then go to Seoul. I am excited about the prospect of GOOD food! I want to do alot but with the folks I cannot do them. So bummed ie got to Korean Show???!!! My pace will have to be slower as they are not that fast. But my language partner said we will have fun at night and "play" as much as we want without them! Yeah!

Everyone TGIF have a great day and in USA great Labor Day weekend! Those going back to School--good luck and do well!

Haeve a great day! (Good for me as I have finally overcome my laryngitis for the past WEEK!)

Had my first class of the new school year yesterday. It wasn't too bad. But this heralds the beginning of a very stressful semester.

I'm sitting back and recovering from wearing my new pumps to work for the past few days, since my previous pair of work shoes has all but fallen to pieces. I don't have work today so I get to finally wear my sneakers to class! I'm not sure if I bought the wrong size (there is a little space left behind the heel but if i go smaller, my toes will pinch) or if I walk funny or if my feet are just weirdly shaped (wide at the toes and narrow at the heels- sort of like chicken feet), but my heels kept on slipping out of my pumps! My entire body is sore from all the pressure of trying to keep my shoes on my feet! And from keeping the cuffs of my pants from getting tucked into the back of my shoes. Thick socks, heel grips, and insoles aren't helping at all. =( Vanity is oh so painful!

Can't wait to come home and relax to some dramas!

if your heels keep slipping out of the pumps then i say the size is to big. if you go smaller and your toes and being pinched, i say you should've gone with another pair of heels altogether (and perhaps a different maker). heels shouldn't be that uncomfortable!! before you buy, try putting both pairs on and walk around the store a bit. if its uncomfortable, just go try on different heels!

there are comfortable and classy heels out there!

Required fields are marked *

What you can do is get those gel sole inserts. It'll give you cushion on the ball of your feet as well as push them back a little, which will fill in your shoes more and keep them from slipping out.

I usually do that if I really love the shoes and rather not try to squish my toes into a smaller size. I just hate it when I'm in between sizes.

There are also those little pads that stick to the heels to give you padding and more grip. I use them a lot b/c my heels are narrow, too...

Required fields are marked *

Thanks for all your help! I've actually tried them all but to no avail- maybe i need to double up on them? They fit quite comfortably when I'm sitting down and standing- but the walking! *sigh* I should just wear sneakers to work and change into the heels there.

I'm flat footed, and I've got what Nike calls Native American foot (very narrow heel with wide toe pad). Nike made us a shoe called Native Air and shipped them out to all the reservations... but as we are descended from Asians maybe some of y'all have this type of foot, too?

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20980046/

Anyway, my point being, I buy an open toed heel in a half size too small. It stays on my foot, and the front of my foot has wiggle room. Also, strappy backs or tie backs instead of the leather rubbing against the back of my ankle seems to help. And take your shoe off when no one can see what you're doing!

I've watched the first two episodes and the general feel that I get from is obviously Goong-like. It's a cute little drama and you should watch it if you have time. But I don't think you'll miss much if you skip it.

I was thinking the same about playful Kiss. The actress did well her job and she is very captivating but the main lead lack something. sometimes he is doing well but sometimes seems that he is sleeping.

anyway if you have to watch something, try Sungkyunkwan. I am not fond of sageuk but this one has something that catch your attention. and there so many interesting characters. The actors young and of course soooooo good looking. well nuna is going to look for some pics of these young actors all the week end..arff

First episode is so-so.Second episode is OK. Female lead is really cute and fits like button. It is more Goong-esque with every episode ending with cute little teddy bears.

Even though I find the teddy bears thing adorable, I feel like it was a trademark of the two Goongs. So I'm a little bothered by it that it was used again for PK. Maybe he should've picked a different animal or dolls or something for this drama.

0

MGIAG chicken feet stuff toy trumps PK teddy bear anytime.. LOL

Speaking as someone who did not enjoy the TW version, but mildly liked the anime, I thought it was decent. It's definitely of a different feel from the other two competitor dramas so if you're in the mood for a cute young romance storyline then I'd say watch it.

As many people pointed out, Ep 1 was quite slow but it definitely picks up more in Ep 2. I think the main reason that I like this much better than previous version I've seen is that the girl isn't as frustratingly dumb and the guy isn't as much of a huge jerk. Though it is only 2 episodes in so we still have some way to go.

Acting-wise, I think female lead is very cute, not annoying. As for KHJ, I really had no expectations of him to begin with, no bias like or dislike and so far I think he's doing a decent job. Definitely not as terrible as a lot of the comments I've seen about his portrayal and I'm saying this as someone who was praying that Kim Soo Hyun would get the role. So I hope you don't let those comments turn you off or affect your viewing.

0

Required fields are marked *

It's generally actually quite decent. I've seen worse acting, and I prefer this female lead over the other versions I've seen, although the Japanese female lead was kinda funny too.

The music's cute at times, but strangely abrupt at others. It does give off a Goong-esque vibe, not to mention the adorable bears at the end, but I liked Goong, so it's not an issue with me.

The pacing could be tighter, but basically, it's not as bad as people make it out to be online and certainly doesn't deserve ratings hovering around 4%. I find that it has its own merits as compared to the other versions and I'm pretty willing to give it a chance, especially since it's cute and light.

People who axed it too quickly probably did so cos they already knew the story, but I found the build up apt for people who didn't know the story at all.

Required fields are marked *

@15 I agree, I also generally prefer Manhwa. But maybe it's because I already know a lot of manga/jdrama and well, if the plot it's the same, is not so interesting for me. But I think in korea they still watch it, like BOF which had a lot of fans.

That's also why I partially disagree with you (it's not an error if I posted here), because BOF had a LOT of audience and of fans and everyone already knew the plot.
So I think that there may be other reasons for that 3,something%, even though I don't know what they could be.
Anyway I've still not started it, I'll wait after the strike ends because it's frustrating enough to have Gumiho and IAL stopped (but I really hope they won't stop even for a week, sigh).

Recently, there have been a lot of K-dramas/films being adopted from Japanese mangas and dramas.
MatsuJun dramas are popular (BOF, Kimi Wa Petto), Yamapi's Dragon Zakura.
wonder if they'll get on to remake more J-dramas.
then we'll be seeing more of MatsuJun's, Yamapi's, and maybe..Ikuta's?!
I'm all for good adaptations, and it doesn't bother me that we get a new version K-drama style. I did love Manhwa turned dramas like Goong. I just hope they do justice to the remake.
BUUUTTTT, I really hope they wont do another God of Study and touch on the highly popular Gokusen series.
And no one should try remaking Kamenashi's Nobuta!!!

I do not think you have to be handsome to have good acting. My problem with him is he screw up his face a lot of the times-same expression in most scenes.Maybe that is what you mean by ugly. I am watching it because of Shin Mina. Did not like her in Naked Kitchen but this role is perfect for her.

Happy Friday to everyone.I am happy because it's been raining steadily all day including hailstorms but I am happy as larry because we need the rain in the Outback so no complaints here :-)

Playful Kiss had dismal ratings and I know a lot of OT reasders here don't seem to be pro PK or pro KHJ.However since I am on viikii all I can say is his fans must be on the Net cos' I had a splitting headache trying to tell viewers to hold on for the license hold.Shesh,no lack of support there.

Sungkyunkwan Scandal....who has watched it?Personally I don't like the lead actor(nothing personal okay cos' there are a lot of Micky fans) but the series is definately going on a to watch list.It is much better than I expected. There are a lot of cute actors including the bad guy....hmmmmm......

The actress is so gorgeous. How can she say that the male leads treat her like one of the guys in one of her cast interviews?Did you see how good she looked in the Anna Sui ads?

Required fields are marked *

I've seen both PK and SS

I'm striking out PK in my watch list 'cause it's boring for me. The actor/actress there lack the impact to make the drama interesting to watch. It's either they're wooden or overacting

With regards to SS, so far I'm loving it never mind that Micky is not that good in acting ... as compared say to the rest of the cast but at least he's better than KHJ. Hahaha!
Though SJ & YH are the obvious OTP, I'm wishing that they'd have a change of heart and go for a YH & YH pairing. Hahaha!

0
reply

Required fields are marked *

SS is fan-freakin-tastic I wasn't really expecting it to be soo good and in previous posts elsewhere I have already gone bat crazy about Song Joong Ki and his oozing of sex(appeal). I think he already knows she is a she. and is keeping it a secret. The hug was just a verification.

I was never a DBSK person so Micky meant nothing to me as casting. I think they are purposely making his character dry and morally perfect on every way. When he finds out she is a she, it will make for better drama, what will this uptight prick of a thing do for someone he respects mentally and also most likely at that point has grown a larger fondness for.

_______

Yeah I saw the Annaa sui ads. They were very impressive. If men like Kim Heechul and Lee Jun Ki didn't exist I would (cry) never believe her to be a good casting choice to play a guy.

_____

Also saw PK

I needed to rant so bad I wrote my first recap ever about episode 1, but episode 2 was worlds better. I still won't be looking to that show for anything great, but it doesn't suck as bad, mostly cause of the band Bye Bye Sea.

0

Required fields are marked *

I'm willing to keep Playful Kiss on my watch list mostly because the lead actress really vibes for me. I know it's slow but considering it 25 episodes I'm not surprised. I'm really just interested in how this goes. I can already see changes in the story. But I loved the way the Taiwanese version ended so I want to see if I get that same kind of emotional pull from this.

SS is definitely on my watch list. The first two episodes where really strong and I hope it manages to maintain the momentum throughout the entire series.

I also I'm glad the bears are back in the end since they were pretty awesome in Goong.

My first week in college is over and there are some good things, but bad things as well.

I have to say that I hadn't made much friends in high school and there's this one particular girl I couldn't stand. We could get along fine, but let's just say that never in a million years will I ever call her a 'friend'. She a class lower than me as she was held back a year in high school and I was supposed to be in college a year earlier. However, I decided to work my ass off for a whole lovely year first before throwing myself in school again. Surprise, surprise, she's in my class! The one girl I painfully avoid for a whole year in high school is in the same school, same class as I am. And there I was, thinking I could start afresh in college after some hard times in high school. Not to mention, another girl whom I shared classes with during 8 years of primary school is also in my class. Oh how wonderful life turns out to be.

I feel like I'm in a drama with me as the hardworking, clueless girl with hopes and dreams while entering college while they are the mean girls who look down on me while at the same time smiling as if we're best friends. And oh right. They're rich; I'm not. How lovely.

Aside from that, I'm appointed to work together with one of those girls as well for a project (luckily with some other people) and while all that really sucks, I feel like I can do well in college with what's ahead of me.

Aja aja, hwaiting as my mother says (from watching Full House) and so I will have to live my life as it is and just hope that things don't turn out too ugly. Keep smiling, keep distance as I always tell myself.

P.S. My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho is such a sweet break from all that chaos. I think I'll fall in love with dramas again <3

what a sucky coincidence! is it only one class out of all your classes? but cheer up! even if you go to the same school/class as these girls, it is still a different environment with lots of different ppl. and you make friends based on similar interests and sharing a connection, not because they're there like high school. And you may end up taking different classes next semester!

i find people are generally friendlier and less class-conscious in college- or at least they try not to appear class-conscious. Sure you have the girls with the gucci bags, but most won't look down on you if you have a no-name bag. Forget those girls and make friends with people who will care about you and aren't two-faced jerks!

Required fields are marked *

Please don't let that girl ruin your college experience! Maybe she will grow up and become a really neat person... or maybe she'll drop out. College for me was so different than high school, and I enjoyed it so much that it breaks my heart to think that someone isn't having a good time.

If worse comes to worse, make straight A's your freshman year and get a full ride to a state college on the other side of the state.

0
reply

Required fields are marked *

Thanks for the encouragement everyone!

@asianromance She's in all of my classes, so unfortunately I won't be able to avoid her. I live in Europe and here you'll have to spend a whole year in the same class with the same people. I never felt nervous/scared or anything like that when I'm with her, but the fact that she has totally different standards in everything that makes it hard for us to connect. I, for one, do not have a jacuzzi in my backyard!

@brookeeve Indeed I am aiming at those A's already, because I am sure that such thing won't happen twice - me meeting her again in another college. Another comfort would be that it is said that only 60% of all freshmen will survive the first year. Let's just hope I'll be part of the 60% next year.

Aside from that, I'm enjoying college fully. It's a great experience and while I have to wake up at 5:30h every morning to catch my train and shovel breakfast down my throat, I have to say that even that makes me enjoy life a tad bit more. Especially when I get to see sunrise every now and then while heading to my future.

Hi all. Gosh, new semester starts next week. So not ready after 3+ months of juts lazing around. On top of that I am studying for my GREs. Any tips or strategies of how I should study for it other than books? I already bought a couple of review books and have finished one. It's good but I feel it didn't help me understand the verbal section much.
Dramas I am recently watching are Gloria and a Joker(Japanese). They are quite good really liking Joker so far. Have watched only a few episodes of Gloria so can't really say. Other than this rant I just wanted to wish you all Happy Friday and long weekend! :)

When I took my GRE the thing that held me back the most on the verbal was the analogies. I still can't get those things at all.

Besides the books, there should be some on-line practice test questions. Also, you might be able to find some practice tests at the testing center of your school. And definitely, definitely practice with a Kaplan practice test book. They are seriously the best test prep you can get.

It's OT Weekend! Just sayin' now, before I descend into Cosma-scouring madness with the ICOMYM members.

I made my choice and I'm happy with it - I'm watching PK live and reading JB/GF's sublime MGiaG recaps.

Since PK recaps are coming after MGiaG recaps, I've been asked to prepare some appetizers before JB/GF delivers their sure to be awesome PK recaps:

http://ockoala.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/playful-kiss-episode-1-and-2-recap/

I'll try to do it the day the episode airs, this was a combined one because I wasn't sure if I'd like PK enough to bother. Now I'm sure I do like it enough to continue.

Episode 1 was like a giant set-up scene, but episode 2 was charming and funny and sweet, just like the source story itself.

Jung So Min has got the entire drama on her shoulders and she's like Atlas, that baby is strapped on tight, she's so good. But Kim Hyun Joong in ep2 is better than in anything he did in BOF.

Best meta moment - when Seung Jo's mom tells Ha Ni that her son must be really irritating at school, with his arrogant attitude and dead fish eyes. I dies laughing. Dead fish eyes, at least KHJ has a sense of humor.

Btw, I'm not sure where PK viewers are in Korea, but they are EVERYWHERE in netspace. No joke, I posted the recap yesterday, didn't tell anyone, and my hits blew up, tripling in a day.

I'm only saying this to show that PK appears very popular aside from its abysmal ratings. Looks like the cute idol dramas like PK, You're Beautiful, MGiaG, SKKS - all garner less than blockbuster ratings but have a wildly popular life online. Which is not ideal, but better than just being a giant flop.

Oh, and my recaps are not real recaps, just a short summary of what happened. Imma waiting to devour what JB/GF has to say. Squee, watching PK with them will be so much fun! :-D

This at least give me hope that the production team will at least be comforted by the fact that they will make a profit selling to the international markets.

This fact of the dismal ratings for a show that's not so bad makes me care so much more for it to succeed. It's like I'm hoping for it to be that big engine that became the little engine that could. And seeing all the negative comments against it makes me root for it even more, especially from spiteful people who is celebrating its failure. This is coming from someone who was pretty nonchalant about it in the first place. I guess because regardless, a lot of hard work from a lot of people went into it for it to be bashed so badly.

ockoala... are you not watching MGiaG? Just reading recaps? Don't get me wrong... the recaps are super fantastic. But but but... the show is really really really good!! Or maybe you're waiting till it's all said and done and gonna watch it in one go? I don't have that kind of patience. I gobble up the episodes (and recaps!) as soon as they're available. And then rewatch and reread ha. I'm absolutely nuts, i know.

Hi lovenyc52!

No, I'm not watching MGiaG, just reading the recaps. It sounds like a great drama so far, and I intend to watch it when I'm done.

I've just got too many dramas on my plate (IAL, Giant, Gloria, and PK) that I've got to draw the line somewhere.

Also, between MGiaG and PK - I made the choice to watch the latter weeks ago bc I simply love the ISWAK story. Now, with all the bile being flung at PK and its low ratings, I'm cheerily and happily watching it because it's like a hidden gem for me. It makes me smile, and I'm excited to watch the next episodes.

No joke, Jung So Min might just be the best version of Kotoko.

While KHJ won't touch Joe with a ten foot pole, but darn if he's not giving it his all and doing such an improved job I thoroughly enjoy watching him.

The scene where he chased JSM around the school yard was, sigh, made me happy.

Wow, you really do have a lot on your plate...

I want to watch PK too... but MGiaG has taken over my life and is holding me hostage and I am unable to watch anything else besides HnH2. Maybe I can sneak in an ep here and there of PK this weekend :)

i agree with the school yard chasing!! it was so great!! they have chemistry!! and thats all a drama needs :D

I totally agree with you about his fans. The word is rabid, goodness they were aggresive.
The amount of complaints and wailing on both FB viikii and viikii proper gave me a splitting headache.

I watch with C-subs, and Mom literally says "he has these dead fish eyes" and I almost spit out my coke, because at the every moment Seung Jo looked up with dead fish eyes at Mom and Ha Ni.

Most of the time in ep.2, his eyes were less dead fish and more like sleepy fish.

"Best meta moment – when Seung Jo’s mom tells Ha Ni that her son must be really irritating at school, with his arrogant attitude and dead fish eyes."

That's hilarious how the translator chose to translate this line, but in fact, that's not what was said in Korean. His mom said Seung-jo's "성격 이상하잖아. 거만하고 눈 맨날 쫙 내리깔고." Translating it word by word, it's "He has a strange personality. Arrogant and always lowering his eyes."

Here, Koreans use the phrase "lowering your eyes" to express two different, opposite things.

1. When a person is looking straight in the eyes of someone older or a more senior member, the elder may tell the person to lower your eyes to indicate that he's not worthy or of an equal status to look at the elder straight in the eyes.

2. It may also be used to show (which is what I believe intended by Seung-jo's mom) that Seung-jo is always looking down on others.

Happy Friday all OT-ers! Certainly mine's been somewhat happy, what with 2 episodes of MGIaG and then PK. PK actually turned out more decent than I expected (refer to comment above), so I'm holding on for a while.

Regardless to say, I spent all of my time squealing while watching MGIaG. Got so worked up at times I practically destroyed my pillow - The Cute is awesome! Whatever would I do without DB and my daily fix of drama recaps? Now I can't wait for Episode 9 & 10. Thank goodness the drama hasn't been affected by the union strikes since SBS coughed up the dough!

It's been rather dismal around my place lately, dough-wise. Attended wayyyy too many Korean-related concerts and activities. Before 2010, it was like an underground, subversive sort of culture thing. Then - BOOM! Exploded into popularity. Not that that isn't a good thing, but...it's certainly eating a hole in my pocket, is all I'm saying.

Still, Happy Friday! The weekend awaits. Going to stretch out and watch...oh wait. ALL MY DRAMAS SCREEN DURING THE WEEKDAYS!!!...ah well.

Happy Friday everyone!!...began another college day this week and a crucial one at that with more classes (harder ones) and grad school preparing to do....so far so good but hopefully i can keep up and stay at this pace...hws everything going in drama land??...i've decided to keep watching MGIAG a friday thing and so i havent watched it yet but seeing all your reactions are making me very excited...caught the first 2 eps of PK and to be honest i liked it despite the fact that i didnt have to many hopes for it....i wont say its phenomenal but its decent enough especially when you compare it with all its adaptations and i think the characters are more likeable here (particularly Jung So Min's) than in the other versions i've watched...yes KHJ isnt exactly that wonderful but he seems bearable in that he has lost some of the awkwardnes of a fist time actor that he had in BOF though his acting could be much more plus this role does seem to suit him better...i think everyone online seems to have mixed feeling some like it and others dont but for the most part it looks like e it has gained more goodwill since the second episode.....and yes it looks a lot like Goong but doesnt feel like Goong to me butI loved Goong so even if it did it wouldnt matter....i however i do wish they had omitted out the teddy bears.....so all in all im will to give this a chance....on another note has anyone seen SKS??...hw is it??

Well have watched both the dramas that aired this week and have loved them. I really wasn't expecting much of playful kiss after reading so many bad reviews about it being a mixture of BOF and goong but it was good. The first episode was slow Kim hyun joong barely has any lines in the first ep but the second ep was so enjoyable to watch....I think i read too many bad reviews about it that by the time I watched it I just fell into the cute romance of the show. Especially the female lead she is sooo cute and so much better than the taiwanese version. The second male lead is over acting a bit...and kim hyun's character is progressing at a faster rate. In terms of likeness before actually falling in love. I am really looking forward to the love angle of the show from the korean version. In the taiwanese version the main lead was really cold even after marrying the girl and from the looks of the first two eps kim hyun joong's character isn't as cold as the taiwanese version.

spoiler
the band singing and the pervert guy dancing funny was so funny. I was laughing like hell at the stupidness of that scene and the one in the school where the whole class was moving their heads while the band was singing...LOL

SS was a surprise package I really wasn't expecting to watch it but watched it just for soon ki and loved it. I am really looking forward to the drama so much and hoping the ratings of both these dramas go above 15% beacause they are the two really too good. Just for the fun of it...

Hello everyone and happy friday

sorry forgot to say it....had to rant about PK
the rating of PK were very low. To be serious I was expecting it to be low but not this low. It is very different from BOF because BOF had some good acting and a lot of hunky characters where as PK is completly relaying on Kim hyun Joong. Which is too much and also it is competing against baker king ad gumiho so its very tuff competition. Compared to BOf who was competing with east of eden which was a messy show to begin with....

Also PK seems to be good and am really looking forward to the dramabeans and girfriday's updates

Some J-news

HnH2 - I'm in to win it, but man the last few eps (after ep 4) have been annoying me. I think it's time for Hotaru to grow up. Seno is still the cutest thing since Hello Kitty. And I love Buchou to death, but I will be content when this drama ends and we put a finishing touch on it. No HnH3, please.

Natsu no Koi - must catch up.

Hammer Session - totally forgot about this, but it's like Dragon Zakura crossed with Kurosagi - with Moko playing Abe and YamaPi at the same time. Woah baby. And Moko looks identical to Huang Xiao Ming, the smirk, the styling, everything. I keep thinking - why is HXM in a J-dorama?

As much as i love HnH2, I have to agree with you about Hotaru growing up. Every time it seems like she has taken a step forward, she takes another step back so we basically back to how she was in episode 1 and 2. in HnH, i felt like she grew up a bit by the last episode. But in HnH2, by episode 8 out of 11 (?), I feel like she should be making a bigger stride. I mean, it's almost the finishing line!

Woo-hoo, I made it! Thanks for your well-wishes, Unni. My aunt is doing very well. She's pretty much recovered, but I just wanted to be with her. I bought some of her favorite wines, and we cracked open the bubbly and got our drank on ... while her almost-18-year-old son (darling boy) sat there all rejected-like because he's not old enough to drink. Hee.

Speaking of man-children, I knew him when he was a sweet, juicy 1 1/2-year old, and now he's almost 18 and 6'3" and it's weird. That kind of puts my crush on noona-killer SHINee's Minho in perspective. *shudder* I need to quit that.

Hi Carinne

I don't know if you are doing this on purpose, but can you stop with the all bold of entire paragraphs or entire comments.

I feel like someone is shouting on the top of their lungs at me when I read that. I makes me inclined to think that person is a douchebag and ignore the comment. The all italics is less annoying, but no less douchey.

All caps, bolding, italicizing is used to emphasize a point, be it a phrase, word, even a sentence. Unless your entire annoucement is that life-changing and oh-so-important, my suggestion is to use it judiciously, lest you become the Carinne who cried wolf and people just ignore your comment.

However, if it makes you happy, feel free to continue to do so. Just offering a constructive opinion.

And I was going to ignore your comment, but since I've already written so much - check out the Honda CR-V or Acura RDX.

This is the Islamic view of creation. I might not be 100% correct, so don't send a mob after me. :D

Allah (God in Arabic) created both Adam and Hawa (Eve).
Adam was created from the soil. He was dark in color. Eve was pale. That is why we have both dark and light skinned people on Earth. They were both created at the same time. Eve was not created from Adam's rib. They were created equal.
They lived in Jannah (Paradise or the Garden). God sent them to Earth to test their faith. To see if they will do good or evil. They were not cast out of Paradise. There is no original sin. (Eve and Adam were both equally responsible for eating from the tree of life) Eve is not the sinful woman, that led Adam astray.

Our soul was initially with God. Then we are sent to Earth. Our life here, is like a blink of a eye. We come with a clean slate. A child is born with a pure heart. As you sin, your heart becomes blacker. We have guardian angels, one in front and one in behind to protect us. There is one on the right, that writes all your good deeds, and the one on the left, writes all the bad deeds.
On the Day of Judgement our souls return back to God to be judged. Then, depending on your actions, you either spend eternity in Paradise or Hell.

This is Lessaofpern on Miharatori's computer :D

If any Muslims want to add to this, please do so. This is what I remember hearing from a Sheikh a while back. If I am a little rusty, please forgive me.

Hope this helps. :D

I always thought the Korean one was pretty neat. I thought it was so random that the bear and tiger were only allowed to eat garlic and mugwort. Yummy, hungry for buchingae now...Lol

I don't know if that counts as a creation myth or not. Also I think the mongol creation stories are really interesting and unique. I remember reading one about the Devil peeing on the not-yet-brought-to-life forms of man and and that's why we aren't covered in fur (or something along those lines). Imagine what I would have never known had I not gone to college....

Good luck!

Currently on three dramas, MGIG, S-scandal and PK.
The winner for this week gotta be S-scandal, surprisingly great with fresh new faces hating each other, the lead girl was kind of blended in with the boys so it was OK.

MGIG this week-cuteness overloaded while PK is getting better in episode 2. I still think the show will get better, episode3 preview is looking good!

Happy OT Friday and Labor Weekend everyone!
I'll be traveling for a wedding so my kdrama watching could be limited. I plan to take my CHANGE dvds with me just to entertain but prob won't see anything new till I return.

Watched PK1 raw yesterday and I decided that I'll wait for JB's recaps. I have heard that 2 was but for now its very similar to Goong and I' m not sure how I feel about that, not to mention that KHJ looks to old to be in HS.

Regularly, I'm not watching much except GIANT(took a hiatus, on ep 25), Natsu no Koi wa Nijiiro ni Kagayaku, Joseon X-files and Bloody Monday 2 so life is exactly how I like it. I did pick up this quirky Mulder/Scully show called Atami no Sousakan. I am intrigued by it. That's all I can really say.

I am so unbelievably furious about what the netizens are doing to Tablo.

So Stanford can't even keep track of their own students, and the Dean of Admissions issues false certifications of graduation?

And Stanford Magazine is moronic enough to publish an article about a non-Stanford alumni who is now a famous rapper in Korea?

http://www.stanfordalumni.org/news/magazine/2009/julaug/red/rapper.html

Give me a break, this has now become a public lynching of the magnitude I cringe and am horrified to watch. Tablo attended and graduated from Stanford, period. That there is any doubt about his academic achievements becomes the "Is Obama's birth certificate forged" birther conspiracy redux.

Reese Witherspoon was a year behind me, Tiger Woods my classmate, Chelsea three years behind me - Tablo could have met them all at the time he attended. I don't know why the attacks against him continue.

I worry for the mental health of his family.

Required fields are marked *

Okay, Tablo fans, don't lynch me. This is just a personal observation of the events that led to the start of the accusations. But I might be absolutely, completely, totally wrong.

He may have started it all. No one has questioned Tablo's Stanford credentials until he did the CNN interview. One thing is clear in the interview, he lied. I think he was trying too hard to look cool to his audience, especially fans. He said he hated being in Stanford(his words were; I couldn't stand it) too much he had to find out a way to get out of there quick, which is by doing a 3 year degree in 6 months! Is that possible in Stanford? Now, how could you say you hate studying and being in Stanford when, in fact, you even did a master's degree?

I still think he's a nice guy. If you just forget that part of the CNN interview you'd still consider him an all-around cool guy. Can't say I will still listen to his music despite it because I have never been big on kpop(I'm only into kdrama and films) anyway and could not understand(I know very little Korean) his lyrics, and with Tablo it's all about the lyrics. I repeat, this was only a personal observation and a personal opinion. I may be totally off. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Ok, here's the thing - he was in a BA/MA program - which normally would be a 5 year program. And then he overloaded his course load. So a few years, he did what for most people would take many more years. In effect, because of the program AND the extra stuff - the extra three years a normal MA may have taken him 6 months. I have plenty of friends who took BA/MA or BS/MD programs and churned out the 2 degrees in record time. I had one friend who not only was in a BS/MD program, but AP'd out of most of freshman year, so yeah, it's not like it's impossible.

It may have been inelegantly phrased, but he's not wrong.

And if he hated college, he hated college. There you are. He had other goals and places he'd rather have been. I mean, I wasn't that fond of my college either, but I had friends and classes I enjoyed in fields of study they are noted for, and ended up working 7 blocks away in a great job that I was well educated for. OTOH, had I been able to, there are a few places I'd rather have been as well. I've seen that transcript of his, and the man is smart. He managed to find a section of the school where he could hone his ability to write, which is probably serving him well writing lyrics.

And NOTHING gives anyone the right to harass the guy's family. Nothing. Glad he hired the white hats, tracked the IPs and went after them.

Also, have you heard the new addition to the OST? It's by Code V, I d/loaded it last night and am so ridiculously addicted to it, though it's pretty sad, with heartbreaking lyrics (hello?!). I wonder whose crying song it is from the guys. James Lee's just too gangstah for this ish now, so maybe it's the other lovestruck fool's crying song. Either way, I love it. Schadenfreude, if you will.

I'm all about the instrumental OST. I guess lyrics are okay in small quantities that don't belt out with words like "loving" and "you" together.

Min-woos omonim is so classic I think it's borderline statistic: 1 out of 3 K-drama moms disapprove of your marriage partner. That's why maybe people should watch Playful Kiss. Cause the other mom is actually super excited to make her son get married. But I won't. I think I'm above the legal age limit for that show (also I don't have the time, sorry show)

Oh, absolutely. I don't care much myself for these generic manufactured-in-bulk-by-same-factory-kdrama-sloppy-love-ballads. But on the very rare occasion one or two out of the hundreds kind of work for me.
I thought this Code V was like that when I first heard it, but no, it's akin to the Fly to the Sky song from the Fashion 70s OST. That song alone would've had me fall in love with Joo Jin-mo, this is similarly so romantic it makes me swooon. If it's Cho Min-woo's song, I may even fall in love with him. *slaps self* No! -- Think only of SM, The Sensible One (the one whose eyes I drown in).

Hey, this is random but you know I'm digging Mr Lee's sexy tan. We know it's a result of him being not baked but flame grilled in the fiery pits of hell he just came out from, but when he's all scrubbed up, it looks like the tan of an American schmuck, who owns a luxury yacht or two and goes golfing for leisure. Two thumbs up!

In other news, my cat went missing two days ago. Yeah, cats, they do that, but not my cat. My cat's a scaredy cat, like reeeally, really fatally scared of people. If so, he'll need a cat bowtie collar in your finest/ugliest animal print available.

I thought I hated loving you, but hours spent watching Personal Taste I'm starting to hate the 2AM Like a fool song or whatever. They just play it at any opportune time. Sometimes I just laugh, because I must be a jerk. It happens.

Tomorrow is Monday and most of us have OFF and I'mma watch Giant like the minute it comes out. Yay!

Haha, dumb enough to give Jung-shikee a run for his money, sure. But the collar I recently got him is a more regal-looking brown velvet with a cute golden buckle and a bell. More neckerchief and tweed wearing Hwang Tae-sub style I'd say.

CanNOT wait for today's episode. The Hwang Tae-sub, Lee Gang-mo war has begun (er, Jung-yunee, get in line) and I love this version of Gangster Gang-mo so damn much. Totally heartbreaking when he was like: ''I want you to see with your own eyes how Lee Dae-soo's son turned out... I want you to see how I grow to success''. The latter words echoing what HTS said by LDS's grave back in episode 1, if you remember?
I'm not a poetry-loving person, I don't 'get it' and have no interest in it, but these two brothers and their individual relationships with HTS and CPY are PO.ET.IC. It's the only word that springs to mind.
