Actor Park Shin-yang (Painter of the Wind, Lovers in Paris, The Letter) is making his drama comeback after a two-year hiatus.
Park faced some legal trouble with the Drama Association (a pay dispute regarding 2007′s War of Money) and was forced to take a hiatus. He’s returning after a two-year break, and the new project’s production company has no affiliation with the Drama Association, leaving Park in the clear.
His comeback vehicle will be Heaven, a medical investigation drama, where Park will play the nation’s top forensic doctor. He will, of course, have quirks and an odd personality, to offset the awesome internationally-acclaimed doctor part.
Not a terribly new character, for those of us who grew up on procedurals, but Park’s an established actor with a broad range. If anyone can convincingly do ‘mad scientist,’ it’s this guy. The character is described as wary of others and untrusting, but as he starts to collide with the real world, other facets of his personality will emerge.
The rest of the casting is underway, and Heaven plans to start shooting in November.

I’ll never, ever forget this moment in The Big Swindle: He’s a dowdy book-keeper walking past a couple who insults him. Spinning around, in mid-walk he suddenly transforms from the meek disguise to his “real” personality of an alpha, dominating over the smart-mouth, simply by asking for a cigarette *politely*.
You can rewind that bit forever, and still never catch when, where exactly he switched between the 2 personalities. For sure he did – what a miracle bit of acting.
I love that scene too! I’ve rewatched that scene many times.. so amazing. Totally love him in that movie. I’m happy to see him in a drama again.
