After dropping out of melo-fantasy drama Secret Garden (to be replaced by Hyun Bin, backstory here), Jang Hyuk is close to picking his next project: upcoming action-adventure drama Poseidon.
Think god of the sea, not Hollywood action film about sinking ships.
The drama, penned by screenwriter Jo Kyu-won (IRIS) and directed by PD Yoo Chul-yong (All In, H.I.T., Swallow the Sun), is about the Coast Guard. Er, I’m not sure if Coast Guard is right, since it’s not military, but more like ocean police. If there’s a better way to officially classify “cops on boats,” then that’d be them.
I don’t know any other plot details, but if the writer of IRIS is behind it, expect some intrigue, explosions, and guns. I don’t really care as long as he comes to work dressed like he is above.
The lead role was originally slated for Kang Ji-hwan, but his ongoing legal battle (over contracts) involved the production company for the drama, so they turned their eyes toward newly available Jang Hyuk for the lead. He’s currently reading the script, and looking upon the project favorably. If he goes with this drama (which I personally think is a better fit for him), it’ll be his first role in a year since Chuno.
Poseidon is aiming for broadcast early next year.

Can I make a request to the producers to pair him with Lee Da Hae again? It’s just I never found a better pairing with him in dramas other than Lee Da Hae. These 2 just have a connection that is so good. Can’t wait for this. It seems intriguing to be honest.

Lee Da Hae is so feminine…and if this is an action pack drama, am not sure if she will be at ease with it. But then she is a versatile actress so it will be challenging. I do love her in romcoms…

It’d absolutely make my day to see Jaejoong casted, but even if he doesn’t, at least it shouldn’t be Yunho. I still remember him trying to do that crying scene in the Vacation “Cassiopeia” episode, and Go Eun Ah NGing because she cracked up the minute she saw his face contorting.

as much as i heart kjh its a lil difficult for me to think of him pulling of this role…though i was excited to hear abt it…i was thinking more along the lines of it being like JAG…that role would have suited him i think! ( and had this image of him wearing navy fatigue and hello RAWRRRR! but im sure JH look good with or even better without it! )

well, i’m a bit curious as to how KJH would take on the role… i can’t visualize him as a coast police guard (or whatever it’s called) at all so it would definitely be interesting to watch. it’s a shame the whole contract thing messed that up… HOWEVER, i can totally visualize jang hyuk as one so yay! the question is, will this drama be interesting… hmm. i hope so but aside from jang hyuk, it doesn’t appeal to me much as of right now. i’ll have to wait for more info to come.
