MBC’s new drama Queen of Reversals premieres tomorrow, bringing more romantic-comedy energy to Mondays and Tuesdays. As with its predecessor drama Queen of Housewives, the initial premise didn’t really engage me, but once I’ve seen a few clips I find myself enjoying the tone and humor of the show. At least as much as I can see from the previews (watch below).
In fact, I wonder if I might even prefer this series to the original; I suspect it will hinge upon my response to the main character, played by Kim Nam-joo. I found Housewives surprisingly fun, but could never get over my distaste for the main character. Here, however, Kim plays a totally different type; her Hwang Tae-hee is a dedicated careerwoman and “gold miss,” aka a professional woman who has remained single into her thirties.
In the first preview below, Tae-hee is shown as an exacting boss at the office where she is a manager. She finds herself interested in Jung Jun-ho‘s character, declaring it practically a miracle for her to find a man she likes at her age, and gets busy trying to lure him in. (It looks like he’s rather easily lured.) Complicating matters is the appearance of his ex, Chae Jung-ahn, and the company’s reckless successor, Park Shi-hoo.
One thing that this series seems to share in common with Housewives is in making Kim the more competent spouse; Oh Ji-ho was unemployed for a long stretch in Housewives, while Jung Jun-ho is described as a bit of a loser here. (I interpret that to mean that he’s not a go-getter or a dynamic professional type, unlike her.)
Queen of Reversals is set for a 20-episode run.

she totally does. She also looks like a cross between Hyomin (Sunyeo from MGIAG) and the singer IU. It’s so weird – I look at her and I see three different people…

So, am I the only one watching this for Jung Jun-ho??? I love him, he’s so funny!!!!!! His has very good comedic timing and can range from subtle funny to over-the-top, the man with a million faces. His hotness is all about making me lmfao!!!

I agree with you that this series seem a bit more preferable with a character that we can probably sympathize with more. I’m loving Kim Nam Joo’s character from the clips. She reminds me a bit of a slightly older Son Yeh Jin.
Who else loves the look on her face when she closed the elevator at 0:05. Reminds me of Hwang Tae-Kyung from You’re Beautiful. I would love to have an excuse to close the elevator on someone one day like that.

Oh thank god I wasn’t the only one who didn’t like the QoH characters. I watched 2 eps and I just couldn’t warm up to Kim Nam-joo’s character -or most other characters- no matter how much I try. I mean, whenever she -or they- did something I could relate to, understand or justify, something else happened, usually somethig of the past, and I just…gah, I couldn’t bring myself to like them. Or care for them. I was sort of curious to know what was going to happen to all the characters, who ends up with whom, but whenever I tried to watch ep 3, I’d remember how painful watching the previous eps were and so I gave up. I still have the eps, maybe someday I’ll manage to watch the whole thing?
Anyhow, Reversals seems more my thing, but heh, I have too many things I’m watching so I’ll probably skip it or watch later.

I’ll be looking out for this drama as I’ve seen Housewives and actually enjoyed watching it. I think I’ll be enjoying this drama as well as Jung Jun-ho and Kim Nam-joo has chemistry basing it from the previews and pics
just finished watching the first episode. Jung Jun-ho is way too skinny. He looks a bit odd being so skinny. He definitely needs to gain some weight back.
