Thank you! I’m awful with the birthday thing. I do countdowns and remind every single person I know. But yay!! It’s december. It’s freaking freezing outside. Yesterday too. Windy!! I was trying to walk my dog, and we both half froze to death on our way to the park.

@ Tangled Aw, that’s crap. I was supposed to be born on July 4th (U.S. Independence Day for any non-US people here), which would have meant having my birthday on America’s Most Important National Holiday. Every year. Forever. Fug that noise! I came nearly a week early. I was NOT sharing my birthday. Luckily 4th of July isn’t a season (unlike Christmas), so it doesn’t interfere with the celebration of me. Woot!
Totally with you Lahlita. My doctor was aiming for April 13th as my due date; it’s the Thai New Year, Songkran. Ugh. I can’t even imagine. I’m gonna come off sounding selfish but no way could I have handled sacrificing my birthday to attend to all the traditional new year stuff. Aren’t birthdays the one day you can afford to be a little me-focused?
Just like you, I was like, uh, no and popped out a full week early. It’s still a holiday, but a more minor one with no obligations and I get the day off!

Warning: Rant!
Why are people so mean sometimes? Yesterday, this woman came to the computer lab, and started complaining about three people who were working on a project a table away. Apparently their very very low whispering was bothering her. I asked them to please be even quieter, and they very nicely moved three tables away. A few minutes later they actually left the lab, but before they left they said bye to their friends and actually got audible! gasp!
So the woman started berating me about how I wasn’t doing my job in keeping people, and she was going to do something about the noise, e.t.c. Lady, the already left! I smiled politely and didn’t think much of it.
A few hours later, when I was closing the lab, she started again about how, working in the lab isn’t that hard, and if I couldn’t do such an easy job maybe it isn’t the job for me and that I should be fired. She used such incredibly venomous tones, and she looked so mad that she was practically spitting out the words.
This isn’t even the first time she did this. During the summer she yelled at me for five minutes straight, about how I am incompetent, and a disgrace and how I should be fired! Because get this, I laughed with a patron while helping her! She has such a cutting, poisonous tone that it just shriveled me up inside. I cried.
I am friends with all the regular patrons and some even tell me they come to the lab only when I am working. I try so hard to be helpful and nice to everyone. Heck , I even helped her several times with the most basic of computer tasks that even my computer illiterate mother (not lessaofpern) can do! I was extremely patient and polite too I might add.
So, because of this I ended up staying later to close, missed the early train, waited for the bus in 30 degree windy weather for 40 minutes, gave up and walked through deserted streets and finally got home at 12:45 a.m.
Phew, I am all better after the rant!! The unicorns roses and sunshine are back! Tra la la Tra lala *skips down to la la land*
I swear, I’m gonna make my way up North just to have a talking to some of the people who live there! How DARE they talk to my dongsaeng that way! I’d give ‘em a what-for they’d never forget! You call me next time and I’ll let ‘em know just how far they can take that stick that’s shoved… okay, I can’t say that in front of my little sister.
I’ll tell them to go buy some ice cream and have a nice day. Then I’d teleport myself up to that computer library, make you go outside, and physically adjust her attitude.

Yeppeo-goon is 6’1″? He was just 5’11″ a few months ago! Unbelievable. Shopping for him must be frustrating. When my cousin was 14 he went from 5’9″ to 6’5″ in a little over a year. His bones were growing so fast that the doctor had to put him on pain medication. My baby spent that entire year in a medicated haze. But he has been at 6’6″ for four years now so we think he’s done, thank God.
I’m curious about the anti-gravity science project. How are they illustrating gravity defiance? They do sound like total nerds, which is adorable!
I never have to shop, boy has eight grandparents who’re all sending all sorts of clothing for him once I complained about keeping him in clothing that covers his ankles. I love family.

And this weekend and next week will be no fun because I have a bunch of papers to write and finals next week. I’m only thankful this semester is practically over so I can finally start watching these two dramas.

LOL @ the song title as I was going to say exactly the same thing. Boiler broke down. It is snowing in London. For those who don’t live in London, boiler working = hot water and heating. Broken boiler = wearing thermals and puffy jackets indoors, going to friends’ places to shower and turning the oven on to get heat. Woe is me.

Good luck dealing with British Gas. They never show up on time. The part about the snow, some of my family lives in Manchester and when it snows a little bit, they say the roads become awful. I grew up in New York and you needed at least a foot of snow to fall, before you were allowed to complain about it

I was out shopping with a visiting cousin after the boiler broke down cos it was warmer in the shops than my flat. Saw a nice pair of Mui Mui heels. Had to remind myself that I have a broken boiler and that a warm flat and hot water is more important than new shoes. But then remembered I had vouchers for that particular department store which I could use to buy the shoes … because the vouchers can’t be used for the boiler. Score!

Maybe you can rig a set-up like MG in MSOAN – now THAT would grant some major kdrama addict cred. I swear, every time they run a scene at his place I mostly focus on the heater set-up. I keep trying to figure out the venting – I’m pretty sure its too long a run for the diameter of the vent, but oh well – its just a drama.
Is that a burner/stove that MG has? I always did wonder how she cooked the bean soup on that thing if it was just a heater. But yes, feeling MG’s pain re cold apartment at the moment…
Huh. Could be, I guess. I just assumed it was a heater. We used to boil water and cook soup occasionally on top a woodstove when I was a kid – also worked well as a cheapo humidifier.

I’m kinda curious to see what your impression is of Seo In Kook’s new MV “Take.” I couldn’t stop laughing… So Ji-Sub and Jung So-Mi are so awkward!
I thought it didn’t work, but as a child of the 80′s the first one didn’t work either. It was only a really cool effect back then. And I am guilt of chuckling at this version too.
Just kind of sad that there aren’t any really addicting dramas out…
I hate feeling! Thankfully, Secret Garden is on. Though it’s pretty much halved my productivity…

LOL Out of the blue last month I got a nosebleed. It kind of freaked me out too. Then I thought, what might have triggered it? How characters in K drama always get cold after caught in the rain always make me “are you kidding me?” or “no don’t say you will faint caused of cold after this”. But not after I experienced it my own in few days back, 2 times I caught in rain, 2 times I got cold after it.
This fact made me LOL through my high fever and dizziness and I think I guess I’m living in K drama land now. And half doubt my self : what if my sickness is only some process of internalization of k drama? ha, ha, ha “K drama what have you done to me??”
LOL!!! These things happened before too, but we never understood why. Thanks to Korean dramas we have our answers now

I can relate Semigemi. Only, for a slight difference. My finals are supposed to end on the 17th, but since I only have papers, I’m cramming to get them finished by the 10th so I don’t have to stay an extra week. As much as I love college and being free from my parents, the people in my dorm tend to get annoying after awhile.
But it also works out because Athena starts airing a few days after I move back home.

It’s not that bad; there’s just these people living above me and my roomie who like to stomp their feet or bounce a basketball…whichever it is, I just want it to stop.
My second year of undergrad I got an old apartment with my then-best friend. She and I were totally thrilled that our upstairs neighbors were hot guys who preferred to walk around without their shirts on in the hot Memphis weather. One night, I heard some weird sounds coming from the bedroom above me, and my first assumption was that the guys had put a trampoline in that room. I pulled my roommate in to listen with me, and then we heard… some other noises. We figured out that it was not a trampoline. I had problems looking at the guy for about a week afterward, especially because my roommate felt the need to tell him about my thoughts on the trampoline.
ROTFL!!!!!!!!!!!Trampoline!!!!! LOL
My birthday was yesterday, so looking forward to this weekend. Time fly so quickly. I remember the break-up. Something feel like I am going older and need to look for a husband and have babies…haha. HAPPY FRIDAY…

It’s weird how a week can feel so slow once I started watching kdrama, and how much I miss a serie once it’s over (if it was a good one).

I should be working on my proposal…but mostly waiting for new Secret Garden eps and rewatching You’re Beautiful clips. I had the ‘brilliant’ idea of putting Shin Woo in one of my fanfics, and I now have to refresh my memory on his mannerisms. Lol. I care more about that that my work. That’s addiction, right?

OMG, Secret Garden! So wonderful. I was just imagining last night while watching it, how it would be if Jang Hyuk remained the Joo Won rather than Hyun Bin. HB is just so fantastic, I just can’t see it. Also because Jang Hyuk is so much more masculine than HB is, I don’t know if it wouldn’t fit right or if it would just be even more funny to see the body switch. Can ya’ll imagine? 2 6-8pg papers. One analyzing Margaret Atwood’s written voice. The other an introduction to an anthology on plays having to do with the American Dream (using three plays we read for class).
1 3-5pg paper analyzing a social movement (I’m thinking I’ll write about the women’s suffrage movement here in the USA).
1 Portfolio including a 2-4pg cover letter and the final drafts to all papers from the class.
1 Instruction set (for a business communications class) explaining how to put together a lego creation. <–best assignment ever. I mean come on, any class where you get to play with legos for the entire class period is pretty cool.
But I have until the 10th to finish it all. Ugh. Being an English major has it's downsides in all this work, just because I want to work in publishing.
I'm catching up on all the dramas I neglected this past week and trying not to cringe at the amount I'll have to catch up on next week cause there's more than I thought…

just had myself a confrontation with a bunch of JERKS at the car dealership i just bought a vehicle from. talk about lack of service after the sale!!! they has it! i sat around their office for SIX HOURS on Black Friday while they “fixed” the heat and heated leather seats so we could finalize the deal on purchasing the vehicle. was guaranteed that they fixed everything.. so i signed and gave them a check. only to go out and find that they did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to fix either problem. was informed that they had to order a part to fix the heated leather seat so they will fix both things when that part arrived. to make things convenient for me, we would go on a saturday, so i didn’t have to miss work or school. they would call to let me know when part arrived, as i am 4.5 hrs away from the dealership, so i don’t waste a trip down and the part now be at the shop yet. well, it’s been a week and i hadn’t gotten a call, so i called today since no one called me.. and the part is there. but they can’t do it on saturday, because they are booked up. WTF??? i am supposed to be on that schedule that booked them up!!! but because “sales” promised me and not “service”, “service” doesn’t have the time to fix my vehicle, even tho “service” is the one that was supposed to call and let me know the part was in… but “service” left that for “sales” to do, so “service” is supposedly not at fault for “sales” not calling me back.
much longer story cut to just long: DON’T EVER BUY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP!!! they totally lack customer service once they have their check. and they are JERKS!
and i still have to miss work and school to bring the vehicle down to get fixed… there i go, driving for 9+ hrs in one day to sit in their offices for god knows how long. AGAIN.

Anybody know how to synchronize subtitle file (srt) over video file? It seem that the subtitle is slower than the video. I use VLC as media player.
You can use Aegisub (free download), loading the subtitle, the video & the audio from the video file into the program, then using the “shift time” option under the timing tab. It is pretty easy if there is just a consistent short lag, somewhat more time consuming if the lags are intermittent.

Like! I’ve serious trouble with the ending. Or I’m reading too much into it.
The only thing I can figure out is the ending was left open for perhaps a future second season. (Didn’t the main actor recently go into the army?) Therefore the writers didn’t want to tie things up neatly – darn them! – so they could come out with 12 more episodes to explain what the heck happened.

On the topic of movies, I just watched ESP Couple (aka Sensitive Couple) and loved it. Highly recommended. Nice blend of sweet and sad, but not a tearjerker.

just wanted to share the dream I had last night, which was essentially Yoo Ah-In exploring the forests of South America. Lush rainforests, huge, gorgeous waterfalls, raging rivers, and the hotness that is Guh-ro makes for awesome scenery
Unfortunately I wasn’t with him – it played out more like I was watching a documentary or TV special. I could totally see him as the lone explorer type, though. *sigh it was particularly hard getting up this morning – I didn’t want the dream to end!
Hopefully it will be one of those reoccurring dreams
Weird I just dreamed about Joong Ki two days ago, since he is like everywhere doing some endorsements.
Can we say the feeling of not enough sleep caused by dreaming Guroh & Yeorim is the side effect of too much Vitamin Y and vitamin M? i have fallen completley in love with park shi hoo watching him in qor. that also got me marathoning prosecutor princess (which i thought i would never, ever watch after the dreadful 1st ep) and now i have three more eps left and im hook, line and sunk…damn it, i should have spent a longer time to watch this!

It’s 58 degrees Fahrenheit over here… which I guess is 14.44 Centigrade, according to Google. It might rain tomorrow.
It won’t get cold here until next month, and then it’ll quit being cold two and a half months after that. Watching dramas kind of makes it colder, ’cause I feel the need to wrap up in a big old scarf and a floppy hat after watching Mary Stayed Out All Night.

So far I have found MSOAN to be a little disappointing. The
infantilization of grown women to the point of being shocked
at a kiss has really gotten old in Kdramaland for me. The cliches are all there but the actors are in a tunnel looking for the light……… and the fun. if it were not for the cast I would not have bothered.

I was just wondering how easy it is to find certain k-dramas on dvd? I’ve been trying to find Dal Ja’s Spring on dvd.
Is it simply popularity that determines dvd releases? I noticed that My Lovely Samsoon and City Hall have been released to dvd. Also they have English subtitles, which I would need….
I hope Secret Garden has a release with English subtitles. Especially, if it continues to be this strong throughout the series.

Anyone like to watch dramas stoned because I have something I’d like to ask.
When you watch dramas (stoned) do you tend to focus more on how people look, the way their lips move…their facial expressions and body language in general than what they are actually saying?
Because I’ve realized several things because of the way I tend to watch dramas
1. They wear A LOT OF MAKE UP
2. Some people are just so beautiful
3. Does everyone wear contacts or have something that makes their eyes look…sort of watery?!?!

I’ve noticed everything that you have noticed while I was sober. Yeah, they do have weirdo contacts, yes they are amazingly pretty, and if make-up were a continent they would have already planted their flag and written their constitution.

I think 2009/2010 has been a good year for K-Dramas but along with the “Good” dramas we have the ones that totally “Fail drastically”.
I was checking the episode ratings for the drama “Take Care of the Young Lady”, a drama that IMHO was “Great” since
Yoon Eun Hye is my “Favorite Korean actress”, most critics claim that this has been her worst piece of work and she was criticize all trough the run of the drama, granted not her best work but better than most IMHO!
“Take Care of the Young Lady” TNS Ratings:
Average: 15.5%
Top : 19.0
Lowest: 13.6
“Sungkyunkwan Scandal” TNS Ratings:
Average: 10.1%
Top: 13.7
Lowest: 7.2
“Pasta” TNS Ratings:
Average: 15.2%
Top: 21.5
Lowest: 11.9
“Playful Kiss” TNS Ratings:
Average: 4.9%
Top: 8.2
Lowest: 3.0
“My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox” TNS Ratings:

I think if we look at the numbers alone I can say with all the “Pride” in the world that even when “My Fair Lady” was not Yoon Eun Hye’s best drama she still beat all this other dramas in “Ratings” alone, but if we apply the above wine example than we know why “Playful Kiss” have thousands of followers in cyberspace while their ratings where abysmal!!!
I loved Take Care Of The Young Lady!!!!! Everyone is talking about OSKA in Secret Garden, but I thought his acting as the Butler was fabulous. I really liked his character. Eun Hye was also a great spoiled Miss

erm… u know how addicted i am when it’s almost midnight, i’m having exams on the 8th and 14th of december, but i am still surfing dramabeans and reading all the replies on open thread!!! and checking every hour for MSOAN ep 7 subtitles!
i suppose when one is procrastinating, every drama looks freaking good!! i must say that MSOAN story line was getting disappointing but the angst was upped in ep7 and i so want to watch it instead of studying
so is ep7 really good? or am i imagining it so that i don’t have to study? ha.
i wonder if i will slave over studying or slave over kdrama this weekend
december is suppose to be a good month, birthday (happy birthday december babies!) & christmas but no…. i had to voluntarily go and take professional exams. and this paper that i am taking on the 8th is really giving me nightmares. i think i might just go and fail it.
at this point of time, i really just want the exams to be over so that i can enjoy december. i’ll spent my birthday and christmas in the states! my hubby better give me 2 presents (hee he knows better).
