Let’s just hope this is just a temporary look for Kim Tae-hee, who goes for a short cut in My Princess. Trust the palace’s resident Bitch in Waiting, Yoon-ju (Park Ye-jin), to be the mastermind of the style change: She tells Seol that she needs to change her hair for a more “elegant” look.
As the newly appointed director of the royal foundation, Yoon-ju is put in charge of preparing Princess Seol for her introduction to the media (although she snidely told her last episode that she’d better enjoy it before she’s inevitably kicked out on her butt), and is now guiding her as they prep for the upcoming official press conference. It figures Yoon-ju would assume she has the last word on elegance, though I wouldn’t have thought she’d want to go about turning her rival into a Mini-Me.
Seol apparently wears a wig in the scene, so I’m hoping this brief lapse in style will soon blow over. According to a member of the production team, we can expect Seol to put up her first signs of rebellion against Yoon-ju, who’s starting to reveal her true colors; we’ll soon be seeing the ladies clash in a battle of wills.

I don’t feel like the do is lacking in royalty or elegance, but it’s not her. She’s sweet and spunky and cute, and the do is too boring-subdued-classy for her. I feel like, with short hair, she can’t play a game of keep away or get slung over a shoulder, or drape herself in ice and eat a gallon of ice cream with a gigantic spoon.

Sorry, I only skimmed over the comments, so hopefully no one’s mentioned this yet. But, could Yoonju be subconciously attempting to control Seul in a very narcissistic way? I mean, Seul is taking every thing that she believed should have been hers: the Professor’s undying love; a marriage to the prince of chaebols that would have made her princess (his inheritance would have been her inheritance and her childrens’). It was supposed to be HER that was unchained and freed from being a common person and boosted into the highest echelon of wealth and status. Instead it’s Seul who gets the fairy tale.
Seul now becomes Yoonju’s puppet while at the same time Yoonju masochistically/narcissistically considers Seul to be something of a double for herself – her stand-in until she can take the reins again.

If that’s true, it’s extremely creepy. Though it’s not out of character for her. Yoon-ju really creeped me out in the end of ep 6.
I don’t know if the writer would go to such a dark and complex place though – s/he doesn’t seem to be too deep (I mean this in the kindest way possible – this show’s light and fluffy moments are what make it so great).

I braved this thread (didn’t read text) to say that I don’t like the look of this. What’s with the scowly face on Seul? I signed up for a drama w/Seul and my Hae Yeoung/SSHeon smiling, flirting, joking, running out of hot water, stroking eyelashes, and accidentally falling on top of each other on different beds around Korea in every other episode.
This drama better not make me ask for my money back.

I heard the writer of Secret Garden is going to co-write My Princess too. Definitely don’t have a good feeling about it…because I don’t really like Secret Garden’s plot. Yes, the idea is very fresh and original, but in the end it still went back to the same old cliche stuff…she completely ruined it. My Princess has a typical plot, but it has some refreshing twist to it so I’m afraid that she’s gonna ruin this too.
