Following teen idol drama Dream High, we have the more serious crime drama titled, appropriately enough, Crime Squad. Below are shots from the drama’s poster shoot earlier this week, featuring its cast of cops.
The drama stars Kim Seung-woo (IRIS) and Song Il-kook (A Man Called God), each of whom embody two very differing working styles. Kim Seung-woo plays a cold, clean-cut, buttoned-up police chief, while Song Il-kook is decidedly scruffier as the hotheaded cop. (After seeing the latter playing sageuk kings and sleek modern badasses, I have to say I really like him rumpled-up and sporting some ‘tude.)
The other cast members include (below, from left to right) T-Max rapper Kim Joon (returning to the acting scene after his debut in the hit teen drama Boys Before Flowers), Sunwoo Sun (Will It Snow For Christmas), and Jang Hang-sun (Baker King Kim Tak-gu).

Not pictured here are two of the ladies, Park Sun-young (Sons of Sol Pharmacy) and Song Ji-hyo (currently appearing in the variety show Running Man). Song plays a reporter intern, a character that the actress describes as “very bright and strong-willed.” After a run-in with Song Il-kook’s character (with whom Song reunites after acting together in the hit sageuk Jumong), she accompanies him to the scene of the crime and nabs a story, and afterward, they continue to cross each other’s paths in unexpected ways.
Song Il-kook explained that he took the role because he wanted to work with Kim Seung-woo, and if these guys have any chemistry together, it could be fantastic to see them clashing and playing off each other. On the other hand, the PD-writer creds have me a little worried, since Kwon Kye-hong last directed the convoluted melodrama Bad Love… and that inspires very little confidence. I can’t find much info on the two writers, which inspires even less confidence. No, wait, I think Bad Love still trumps inexperience.
Crime Squad premieres on March 7.

Actually lots of ppl may dont know this. Song II Gook who is more popular with SIG is the most famous ichi-ban Korean Actor Internationally. Ppl around the world watching his Sea Master, Jumong, Kingdom of the Wind, Lobbyist, A man call God. He has the highest rating vote from many web site… i definately will wait for this… my first priority..
oh i miss yo yo man hehehe , i think i will see it i hope i like it …. hmmmm jumong i like him a lot i still call him jumong
i trust kim seung woo to not make a bad decision. ^^
There’s Kim Seung-woo, I’m tuning in.
I ‘m never into crime dramas — Iris, Athena , Plan B but this one intrigues me with the look of Song Il-kook. Really depends on how many episodes they are planning, but will check this out.
Who is the female lead? Are they having loveline in this? If not, and only crime things, mehhhhh.
Aw man, if PD destroys this awesome lineup with his crappiness, I’m gonna be so pissed. Hopefully he’s learned a thing or two since Bad Love.
Hmm… I’m hoping it will be good. I can’t take another – wow, the cast is really great — but the story stinks drama.
I hope KSW and SIK have some great chemistry.
awww kim joon
but this looks interesting and I like the cast, but the story is crucial.
*crossing fingers*
I like KSW and SJY…So might give this a chance.
Kim Jooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnn~ ♥
I’m curious to see how this drama’s gonna work.. I might give it a shot. ^^
There are good casts here, but every drama need a good scriptwriter to make it believable and consuming .
Hope the scriptwirter keep us audience with suspense.
Sunwoo Sun is in this?….hells yea!…i do hope this fares better for Song Il Kook than his last two dramas…also hope Kim Joon has a better return drama than his fellow F4ers
Sounds interesting..loved SIK in Jeumong.
Re: F4 – hope Kim Joon does well here, whether the ratings would be high or low. Though Lee Min-ho’s Personal Taste got higher ratings than KHJ’s Playful Kiss or KB’s The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry, I’m still placing PT 2nd to the last in my 2010 drama list (MMM being the last). KHJ was fine as Seung-jo (JSM carried the show anyway), but Kim Bum! aaaw I want my own Ha Min Jae! I’m halfway through TWWSWTM, and I’m sorry I missed it last year. Definitely (one of) the most underrated 2010 drama.
Song Il Gook: i missed him so much & i always wanted him to love Ye So Ya in Jumong (played by Song Ji Hyo),
looks like my dream’s gonna come true
As for Kim Jun: i hope he brings some funny moments to this serious drama & good luck to him acting with some great actors
DAAAAMN! I’m not gonna miss this one. Kim Joon is mine. <3
omo is it just me or does song il gook bear some resemblance to song seung heon?!? i must be crazy because i never saw that before.
i’m strangely excited for this. the bubblegum in cute
or wait, does he look more like jay from trax…
reunion of song ji hyo and song il gook! oh my, i’m ALL IN for this one. haha.
well, it might be fun to watch. I think I will give it a try
Standing on the snow in those shoes? She must be freezing!
Right! Another “realistic” crime drama. Short skirts and high heels for the lady cops…
I am expecting a lot from this drama , all the more that I think Park Sun Young is the best korean actress . Thanks for your post .
Song Il-kook, a dynamite man. Hubba~hubba.
song ji hyo and kim joon in one drama! woot woot~
i’m not into action. the only reason i watched fugitive:plan b was because it had comedic and other elements and it was just awesome! other than makjang style kim tak goo or trendy saguek sungkyunkwan scandal, i mostly watch romantc comedies. thhat’s as far as korean dramas go. i’m not saying i don’t like crime or mystery series, but for those, i’d rather watch american series, like dr. house, csi miami, or bones
Glad to see Song Il Kook back to looking normal. Seems interesting enough for me to watch at least the first ep.
song ji hyo~~~~
Song Il Kook!!!~~~ my heart skipped several beats over his return to the small screen <3 Soooo looking forward to seeing him. Also can't wait to see him reunite w/Song Gihyo.
in my eyes gookie can do no wrong! he so frakkin’ adorbs here with tht cute not there but there ‘stache! bring on the gookie goodness i sez!! <3 <3
also bring on the ye soya jumong reunion!! gooooosssshhh im soooo excited for this… they do make a damn fine pair and hopefully we will get to see a full blown modern rom with this time around not any of tht modest saguek roms (or in their case a non romance???)
damn…………….Song il Gook reunited with Song Ji Hyo????????
I loved them in Jumong, and I was so angry that he loved Soseono, and not Yesoya.
Now its their time to proove how awsome they are together, love them both, i will deffinitely watch the drama
Kim Joon also really nice
great to see Song Ji hyo ad Song Il Gook back again……………they are lovely together
Are genres in Korea getting more diverse?
I honestly can’t tell. It could just be my exposure to K-dramas. When I first got into all this, it seemed like it was all saeguks, melodramas, and romantic comedies.
Dramas like “President”, “IRIS” and “Joseon X-files” seem to be exploring genres that are new to Korean television.
With SIG? Can hardly wait to see this.
Cop: “Song Il Guk, the bad guys are running away. We gotta get in the car!”
SIG: “Gimme my bow!”
*cues awesome Jumong music*
Criminals: “Awww shhhhh . . . ”
SJH: “Payahhhh!!!
Oh yes. Belleza is watching this.
Good one Belleza ^__^
Ahh, I love seeing Song Il Gook is looking so good-looking and normally better than that before in “A Man Called God”, my opinion, ofc.
How relief that Song Il Gook look so normally and better! He’s very POPULAR because he has many good dramas that his fans are still crazy about him, lolz. I hope this drama will be great, yups! ^___^
hot ajussi yum! will watch
