Birdie Buddy to unveil trailer online

Birdie Buddy is still adrift and without a broadcaster (so, ostensibly dead), but its producers aren’t just letting it fade away. At least, they’re trying to keep people interested, and have announced that they’ll unveil a teaser video on Youtube on March 18.
The project began filming a whole year ago, at the end of March 2010, and has spent the past year in filming and post-production. After an unnervingly long stretch in which the drama failed to get on a broadcast schedule (it had been shooting for last summer), Birdie Buddy had briefly gotten the green light for a March 2011 premiere…until that was taken away and the drama cut loose.
The series is based on a manhwa and first attracted notice for casting pop starlet UEE in her first leading role, after she’d done a pretty convincing job playing an entertainingly bitchy singer in 2009’s You’re Beautiful. Her character grows poor, but she has a particular talent in golf, which pits her against her privileged rival (Lee Da-hee), the “golf genius” who grew up on golf courses, as her family owns a resort.
Meanwhile, Lee Yong-woo plays the dreadlocked American love interest, while Yoo Inna (who has since broken out from roles in High Kick and Secret Garden) plays Mi-soo’s country-girl friend.
UEE said, “I felt some pressure for my first lead role. But in order to get closer to my character, Sung Mi-soo, I spent the past year living as her, not as UEE. Now, all that’s left is for the viewers to see it.”
Director Yoon Sang-ho praised his star, saying that she’d thrown herself into the role, but without getting too exaggerated in her acting: “Through this video, audiences will be able to see for themselves.”
It doesn’t appear as though the drama is any closer to getting on the air, however, and I wouldn’t necessarily renew those hopes for that to happen. I do wonder whether producers will pursue nonconventional routes, though, since it’s a shame to shelve something that’s already filmed, buffed to a shine, and ready to go. Who knows, maybe a straight-to-DVD set will be the way to go. UEE’s got fans who’d buy that, right?

This is just so sad. I'm sure there have been worse dramas out there that have actually made it to air. So somebody, put us out of our misery, and PICK IT UP already!!

haha, that's actually what I was thinking of. Though of course I've still seen many, many terrible dramas in the past... so even if it's about golf, it can't be *that* bad.

I honestly think this will never air. Sad as it may seem....I don't think Korea is ready for a golf drama. Sports drama rarely do well so I doubt this would too. But who knows it may prove me wrong.

I wanna watch this show, she is kind of cute and can make people interested in her work...the story doesn't seem boring...mmm, i will be waiting the trailer in youtube.

Wow indeed. What a lame picture. It's really cheesy, and I'm guessing the drama is equally cheesy from the overall plot and the dreadlocks.
Even for Park Sung-woong, my interest in this has gone from little to none. I'll just hope he picks another (better) project soon.

God just air in youtube for us to see. No stations is going to pick it up knowing it would get low ratings. Hardly any known actors in here. UEE is popular but people wouldn't tune just to watch her act.That's another story. Though i do hope the best for me. She has grown on me. She has such a sweet personality outside.

I've got to admit the premise of this drama is so uninteresting for me.... None of the actors I particularly like too. I feel bad for the production team tho....

It's not as if I'm terribly upset that this drama's not airing.
But it just feels like quite a waste for them not to do something with a show that's already filmed and edited. Yea, releasing on DVD would be something though, even if it'll never hit airwaves

UEE can't act... this drama is all but redundant by now.
If they aired it on Youtube they'd get more viewship (and possibly more revenue) than having it air during the twilight-zone of K-TV.

The real actors do act, the good ones at least. (if you think that they don't then you need to start watchign some real hardcore dramas/films.
Idol actors are pretty famed for their crappy acting skills (Eunjung IMO being one of the few exceptions) but it's your choice to watch these crappy idol dramas when you know full well 90% of the time it's going to be positivly cringe-worthy.
UEE only has one facial expression (O.O)... how would it ever be possible for her to be a 'decent' actress? LOL
Even in YaB she was outstandingly terrible.
This drama, for me, has long been 'KILLed'
Oh God, I could rant for ages about idols trying to (and failing to) act.
Just stick to being pretty & miming on stage *cough* Yoona *cough*
[this coming from a fan-girl of Yoon EunHye who is know for her apparent 'lack of' acting skills.. I still love her though]

I know she's not the most talented idol/actor out there but in my opinion she did a great job in you're my destiny (can't say anything about cinderella man ; didn't watch it )
though I do agree that EunJung is one of the few idol-actor

I have to agree with her on Yoona.
You gotta watch Cinderella Sister. It was painful. The worst drama and worst acting i have ever watched in my K drama history. Yes, i did finished watching all the episode. I bought the DVD so sat through 4/5 hrs. Fast forwarding most of time. And Yes, I hated Yoona's acting in 9 end 2 out. I am sorry, i don't think i will ever watched any of Yoona's drama in the near future.
I agree, she not great of a singer/dancer either. I don't find her pretty either. She is very lucky to be famous in my book. She is selling her ayego pretty well though. She can stick with that.
OMO, i sound like a hater, trust me i don't. I am sure she's a nice person. It just that i don't think she has any talent. That's all. Eunjung have a great future in my book. And damn, the girl can sing.

but judging her through 9 end 2 out is kinda stupid :x she has such a small role in it , how can you judge her by this?

Trust me I'm not trying to defend idols (even my dearest bias in kpop "Changmin" completely sucked up just ike Taecyeon did ! I can say that out loud ) the few one that I truly think that can act is EunJung ; Jiyeon ; Siwon ; Yoona . but that's true I will always be up to give them a chance

I'm usually one to spew venom Idol-Star-in-Kdrama-wards but not in UEE's case.
I think she's freakin' fantastic and full of promise.
It's a shame her first project as a lead sank like this, but I'm still rooting for this chick. Hwaiting!

I was wondering what was wrong with Lee Yong Woo's pronunciation. He talked as if he's an elementary school student. So he is an American love interest here.
I guess his pronunciation gets a pass in that case, but his acting is noticeably bad in the trailer
It looks like Uee did a pretty good job. Her acting in the trailer is better than I had expected. But for some reason her face shots didn't stand out. It could be the poorly done camera and lighting work. Close up facial expressions aren't too effective. Or it could be that she's not good moving her facial muscles, because it comes off bit strange. Have to watch more to see what happens.
But she looks good on big frames.
Some of the lines seem very awkward. I wouldn't expect someone off the street to talk like that in Korea. This is the similar feeling I got from the script of My Fair Lady episodes 1~4 or so. Actually, the way lines flow in this trailer makes My Fair Lady episodes 1~4 line seem very smooth.
I can sort of see why it's not getting an airing slot. That's a shame because I thought Uee could be a solid leading actor. But it seems like the writer and the director may have failed her in this one.
