hey all.
It’s been like a year since I’ve been on dramabeans regularly, and I’ve been missing OT like CRAZY (you’d not believe it).
After a whirlwind, happy-go-lucky 2009 year of fun and k-drama addiction feeding, 2010 hit me like a ton of bricks. Baby-raising, work and family all clamor-ing for equal attention, and I felt I had to drop everything to take care of my ‘real life’ responsibilities. I stopped all drama-watching, all fan-subbing, literally, mid-series and mid-episodes, and went cold turkey (with my addictive personality, any little bit of d-beans would have made me ever more hungry for more).
I know, I left a lot of questions in the air and a lot of ppl wondering if me, mrs. samsooki and little baby ji-hoonie were okay (yep, we are all fine – busy, but fine). For leaving a lot of you concerned and worried, I really apologize! As I said to JB, it was hard enough to stay away, but it was that much harder to keep my life separate from from all of you.
Anyway, I’m not “back” (lol! omg, if I were “back,” I’d be posting hundreds of times with all of the recent Sung Yuri, Binnie, and Jang Nara tantalizing traps that JB and GF have seemingly set for me. (Yes, my Jang Nara radar still works just fine thank you).
Updates…lessee… I still listen to k-pop all the time – every morning on the way to work, every night on the way back home (my current favorite songs on infinite repeat, iZi’s “응급실” (emergency room) from the DGCH’s OST and Wax’s 2010 cover of the same song from her album Unplugged Side B). If you get a chance, TOTALLY go find it and listen to those songs. But we’ve stopped watching k-dramas altogether, just no time with nearly every waking minute spoken for. Once we tried starting Secret Garden, but we got 15 minutes into Episode 1 when we ran out of time again. So I’m so lost when I read dramabeans these days. 49 days? Athena? My Princess? Coffee whaa?? I’m so confused!
Still, I am so happy at how dramabeans has grown and evolved, and I have to say, I TOTALLY called it on girlfriday. From the very first time she posted, I told JB how impressed I was at GF’s writing (seriously, I have proof, somewhere!!). Not that it wasn’t self-evident, but still….
So that’s really it. I promised JB that I would come back on OT as a civilian and let you all know that I’ve missed you all terribly.
I’ll be on OT from time to time, but for now, I just wanted to drop by and say hello and have a great open thread!
Bora lives! So does Jang Nara! And Binnie / KJW are STILL mine! haha! Does that mean I win, JB?

Glad to hear all is well, and likewise, all is well with us all. I managed to meet half the ladies in person, which is quite a feat actually. And I managed to track down Sere and Kender.
But OT has grown magnificently since we argued about tie-dyed dolphins and whether Min Mei was a bimbo or a goddess.

Hi Samsookie! It’s very nice of you to pop in to let us know you’re ok. I’d heard on the grapevine you dropped off because real life just caught up with you big time, but those among us more prone to worry or to conspiracy theories have been concerned over your apparent abduction by aliens…
As you can see, we are most of us still hanging about the ether! And still have a lot of fun in k-drama land. ockoala now has her own (very popular) site and some of us started/continue with our own blogs or contribute to Thundie’s Prattle, so our rants and musings are somewhat scattered now. But held together by twitter, where we mostly witter but occasionally break out into a raucous twitter party or a shameless twitter celebrity group-stalk!
When life cuts you a break, do drop by again. We’ll still be here, in all probability! Raving or snarking about the latest k-drama offering. May all be well and sunny with you in your Real Life!

BEST DECISION today was checking out page 2 of this OT. Viola, Samsooki is back (so to speak). Great to hear that all is well with you, Mrs Samsooki and Jihoonie. You will take great pleasure in knowing how sorely you are missed here at DB. I am sure one day you could pick up kdrama again, it’s just a time thing.
I can’t watch kdramas like what I used to be as having a new career in a new country but hey I just know when the right drama comes along, I’d be there.

I finished ‘Good Morning President’. Meh…the posters were misleading and the title should change to ‘the life of the chef of the Blue House’! But first time really think JDG is gorgeous, didn’t like him much in All About Eve.

i was searching for my next drama crack but was determined not to start 49 days tilll it was almost over n i could marathon watch it, but alas, after reading javabean’s talk about how amusing/hot jung il woo is in her post about his photoshoot, i just couldn’t help myself. n now look at me. and i should even be watching dramas right now, ive got exams in a few days *gasp*
WHAT AM I DOING???? well, at least theres no possible way for me to glue myself to the computer screen watching the next episode…and the next one…and the next one…ok, JUST THIS LAST ONE n then il go to sleep…OMG THEY JUST DIDNT, JUST THE BEGINNING OF THE NEXT ONE, i NEED to know how they get out of this one! HOLY COW LOOK AT THE TIME!!!
seriously. gawd, id happily spend the rest of my days watchin dramas and movies n reading books. i used to be such a nerd, cant even…..concentrate now…toooo….boring….
i’ve never really watched wgm season 1, but goguma is great. it’s boring for most people, but i think it’s the most realistic and it’s cute. the last episode is heartbreaking ;__;

Can you hear My Heart: Awww, I love it! The kids are great, the veterans even better. Seeing Jung Bo-seok and Kim Sae-ron together is like watching him in Kyungsook’s Father with Shum Eun-kyung again. Except well, he’s nicer.
Yoon Yeo-jung is always great in all her roles and here she’s a cross between Smile’s resident gangster Baek Geum-ja and Bad Family’s Mandu Ahjumma. Which = major WIN!
Lee Sung-min finally gets a role relatively more substantial than in Gloria and every other MBC weekend show, ever. Hurrah.
I really should’ve watched this after tonight’s Gisaeng episode. The latter was a total weepfest. But only in a good way, it was affecting and a cathartic episode. I now get why the writer took her sweet time getting to this point.

Also, I've just spent a ridiculous amount of time on Daum. It's just fans have submitted some really awesome BTS clips of Giant and shitloads of MVs, the usual romance ones. But among those is one called 'The Last Waltz'. Aptly using the waltz instrumental of the same name from the Oldboy OST. It's a masterfully made MV of the Jo Pil-yeon – Seong-mo story containing bits of dialogue and some of the greatest scenes between them with a wonderful vintage noir feel. It's just COLOSSAL. *whimper*. (Ommaaa….)
I won't link it here for fear of spreading spoilers, but I felt I should talk about it anyway. *shrugs*

I am a great fan of PP. One just have to get over the first 3-4 episodes and the rest are pretty riveting. That drama turned me into a fan of Kim So Yeon and of course Park Shi Hoo
I was in withdrawal for sooo long. I didn’t even want to watch other shows after PP cos it was an unexpectedly good show and it gave such an awesome ending some dramas fail to deliver.
