Aw, yeah! Small screen heavyweights Yoon Eun-hye (My Fair Lady, Coffee Prince) and Kang Ji-hwan (Coffee House, Hong Gil-dong) together for a romantic comedy? Count me in! That is, if all of the dramas premiering in May don’t wage a war in my brain and make me implode from abusing fourth-dimension travel.
Yoon and Kang have signed on to upcoming SBS Monday-Tuesday drama Lie to Me [내게 거짓말을 해봐] which I guess is more accurately, “Try Lying to Me.” But that doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, as far as titles go. It used to be called Sweet Scandal for a while, but decided to go back to its original title. Either way, it’s a rom-com helmed by PD Kim Soo-ryong (Green Rose, Father’s House), along with writer Kim Yeh-ri, who was the youngest writer on the team for Heading to the Ground.
The drama is about a single woman who propagates a con that she’s married, for reasons yet unknown. Yoon will be playing the lead Gong Ah-jung, and Kang will be playing Hyun Ki-hoon, who is “misunderstood” to be her husband. I don’t know why she needs to be married, but I’m assuming she uses him as her husband-beard in order to convince someone of the fact? I certainly hope this contract-marriage-as-a-con can be as laugh-out-loud funny as I want it to be. Ki-hoon is described as the standard k-drama hero: a gruff hotel chaebol. Boring on paper, but Kang is great at comedy, so I’m sure he won’t be your standard issue Darcy. Well, I’m hoping that’s the case anyway, because he’s great at quirky.
Kang has reportedly cleared up his issues with the Korean Entertainment Producers’ Association, finally allowing him to sign onto a new drama, free of contract disputes. Let’s keep it that way, buddy. For jb’s sake, and those of us who have to buy her drinks every time you pull out of a drama.
Lie to Me follows Midas and premieres on May 9 on SBS. Damn, May’s gonna be busy, busy, busy, busy!

If you can find a copy of Be Strong, Geum Soon, you need to watch it…the drama that launched Ji Hwan’s career…greatacting by Ji hwan, good story line… a little long but who cares? hehehe…more Ji Hwan screen time.
90 Days, Time for Love wasn’t that great story -wise but the acting was superb.
If I could already sense the chemistry between the two in the Baeksang Awards 2009 photo, imagine what it would be like if they both appear in a romcom!
I like intense actors opposite YEH…KJH is one of them. Since most of my wishful thinking with regard to possible pairings and dramas have come true like this one, I am routing for a YEH-HB and YEH-LMH pairing in the future.
Please let it be an excellent script directed by very good directors! This formula worked excellently for YEH in Coffee Prince.
Well, SBS is supposedly putting everything on this drama. They want to be back in the race for the top stop of best station against MBC and KBS. They practically said that they want this to be their best drama EVER. That’s why they wanted Yoon Eun Hye and great PDs. (Hence the PDs from Green Rose and Secret Garden). Also, the writer should be quite good because she was selected after an audition by the station.
But the thing I don’t get is, they should have started earlier or postponed the airing if they want the best quality for the drama. Unless they have like the very best editing staff and staff in general..

I actually think that they prepared everything for filming, they just didn’t reveal the cast u til now because SBS wanted to cause YEH is in it but as soon as the news revealed, the Pd asked to delete them all cause YEH is still in her movie promotion and they kept secret until now… Can u believe it or not, YEH left for Thailand to film over there a day before the news was revealed…

i seek to differ and I think the pd for secret garden is really quite good. pls recall some of the different shots of Hyun bin’s house and the special effects. it takes someone of an artistic quality to produce that.
yep YEH has not failed in any of her dramas yet. I cant remember the ratings for that vineyard show but even for My fair lady the ratings were ok.

i dont think blames should be made..besides,i love both of them..yoon eun hye and kang ji hwan..filipinos love your show..hope to see another one..flaws is not easy to avoid…the story is nice..saying that it is the worst plot ever is unfair…if it is the worst how can others love the show…
