Yeah i couldn’t get it to work for the longest time. The only way i got it to work was if i went through a proxy server where my ip address was hidden. I have no idea why i had to do that.

MJP try going to kproxy.com and then type in soompi website in the box and see if you can access it that way through an anonymous proxy server. Close the window after you are done surfing soompi. And if that doesn’t work, I can’t help you.

It’s almost sad how much Korean I have picked up from watching kdrama . . . enough to question the subs sometimes (like when they use the character’s name instead of hyung, oppa, noona or unni). I’m not anywhere near being able to have a conversation and I certainly can’t follow a complex story in a raw episode. I’m hoping the pile of shows this month will keep me entertained while waiting for other subs to post . . .

I’m loving Best Love. CSW has really surprised me in this role, in a good way. I’m loving him and YKS. I can’t wait to see jealous CSW lol.
I too loved Best Love. it is HILARIOUS! but im disappointed with low ratings. hope it will improve coming episodes.

I think the ratings are low because others dramas are just finishing up and have more of a solid fan base already. People that are currently watching 49 days are also the fanbase that would have attracted Best Love.

Hmmmmm about the rating for Best Love I kinda agree. I can’t believe i am admitting this. I am a city haller and love the cast. Tried watching in Viki, am stuck with the first episode.
I am not feeling it. “Sigh” I guess i was expecting a little too much. I will try watching it again after few weeks.
I haven’t seen best love yet, but i have watched first ep of baby-faced beauty…and oh my god I am really surprised how young jang nara looks! especially in that yellow dress! the funniest moment by far was when her skirt was ripped and that awkward scene between her and ryu jin in the lift!
I love Baby Faced Beauty! Daniel Choi is hilarious!
She does look extremely young! The elevator scene was also my favorite one – the expression on Hot Boss’s face.
So far, the drama hasn’t really grabbed me, but then I’ve only watched one ep, so maybe it will later… the lead guy is kind of blah so far, as (to be honest) is YN. But then many dramas are slow to start up, so we’ll see.
I totally agree!!! I wasn’t really taken with the beginning episodes. It really dragged. And that girl who slapped JN? What is with slapping coworkers in Korea? Is that allowed? The abuses that I have seen the common workers take in Asian dramas is a bit frightening for this American.
I was really disturbed to see one episode of an Arashi program when MatsuJun just out of the blue slapped this guy in the face because he doesn’t like the guy! Is there a cultural violence issue here?
I watched the first 2 episodes, just to check it out and I like it a lot more than I thought I would. I haven’t really liked any of JN other dramas that I’ve seen, so I wasn’t too sure about starting this one; but I found it funnier, and yet also more poignant at times, than I expected.
The elevator scene was hilarious! And the runway scene with DC made me LOL!
I really like baby-face! jang nara is adorable in so many ways and I just have to laugh everytime daniel choi shoots himself in the foot trying to get at JN lol… the soup was HILARIOUS. also… is it just me, or does daniel actually look good when he’s crying? the scene on the stairs with the jacket? I was like.. wait? you look hot right now? how is that fair? and when he says he was like F4? puahhaha… haha…hahaaa… I really like this drama. and ryu jin is *whistles* what can i say, I’m a sucker for men in nice suits… i just love his every time him and daniel have face-offs… he just stares and is like… “not going to react, not going to react… stay calm…walk away…”
I know she’s gonna end up with daniel’s character, but I think the ryu jin and her moments are going to get cute. I hope she does something awesome to get back at the bitch she works for…. but when RJ asked her if she’s responsible, why couldn’t she just have said, look, i left it on the desk in the care of Jang, and it was there when i left soo…. no it’s not my fault? seriously. why are drama characters so intent on suffering?

I was flabbergasted by the end of ep 8/beginning 9.
Completely blown away by what WR said to MR, and equally so with his response. Another drama that has me totally unexpectedly sobbing OUT LOUD. I knew this show could tug at my heartstrings because of the earlier episodes with the child actors, but the adult actors are affecting me with the same force. The fact that he is so beautiful doesn’t hurt!
And evil Dong-ju oma is totally creeping me out with JH/MR scenes. He needs to pull himself away from her NOW.
i know! that scene was totally heartbreaking, i think i was in tears as well. mr would have made things so much easier if he just told the truth, but…argh. I think he and woo-ri belong together, he was the one who made him smile!
actually I quite like evil dong-ju, and sometimes I don’t mind the scenes he is in with woo-ri, but I hope he ends up with a different girl instead. perhaps the girl who fancies him?

Dong Ju is cute torturing WR! She WILL find out before anyone that he is deaf, or maybe her dad.
There IS something creepy about the mother and “son” scenes. He does need to pull back some. The whole “I will scoop the ice cream onto the spoon then hand the spoon to you” thing… really? It is just creepy. And when she picks out his clothes and hangs out in his bedroom… yuck.

The Omma and Son(JH) scenes totally make me uncomfortable ! They just give me some strange vibes , not really the Mam/son relation but something more …er… they just look fishy !
I think we all know what is coming down the road with that one… There is a VERY unusual attachment between the two of them. They aren’t related at all. But it doesn’t not bode well, the road these two are headed.
Oh, i love it too! KJW is getting better with his acting. I can’t wait for the weekends. I watch each episodes twice. I just hope it will not be a long drama and become dragging, just like what i felt in Gloria. And also i don’t want Maroo Oppa turn into a bad guy =)
Moreover, the supporting casts are great, specially Dong Joo’s Mom, Dad Bong Young Gyu and Grandma Soon Geum. I hope the 3 will win awards =)

The whole cast have hair issues.Even Seung Chul and his fritz.He was so skinny in Smile,You I was a bit shocked he had muscles.
I love the show….love it.I wasn’t expecting it to be so heartwarming.
Their closeness is what I believe a combo of odd script writing (possibly intentional) and the fact that I find Lee Hye Young is weird when playing a mother character (unintentional, like in MiSa).
I’m wondering without having to dive into them… was there any type of weird overtones going on in Boys Over Flowers or Fashion 70s? Ah.. everyone is on the same page with this…. I’m just glad she had little to no scenes in today’s episode.

I do like this drama esp. the nicely designed solo scenes of DJ – e.g. counting fish at his home and how he learns to appreciate the world around him. a really nice concept that is executed very well throughout the drama.
his interaction with JH is something i find very refreshing too – i have not found such kind of chemistry among brothers in any other dramas that i’ve seen (not only k drama).
DJ’s interaction with WR’s dad is yet another fascinating feature. I feel warmth watching the scenes.
1/3 into the drama and I’ve been enjoying it. Am happy to have found this drama together with 49 days! Both have their gems!

I’m loving CYHMH too! As for WR’s hair, I think this hairdo shaves years off her age. I saw a pic of the actress with long hair and almost couldn’t recognise her (I thought I was looking at Baek Ji Young). But they could’ve gone for a cute short bob instead of that bowl haircut.
There’s just too many dramas to watch. I’m torn again between studying and watching dramas. I’m worried about my future. Lol

I have not watched baby-faced beauty or best love because there’s no subs T.T
However, 2 nights ago I was making a midnight snack and I needed to accompany it with a drama but I had already finished the latest episodes of the dramas I’m currently watching(49 days, crime squad,and a bit of midas). So then I saw Pasta, and thought |”oh what the hell, I need to watch something while eating” and now I am in love with lee seon kyun and am seeing alex in a new light. Kinda disappointed the no one ever finished the recaps for it..
I knooww. The couple is sooo cute in that drama. I didn’t even realize the drama was about nothing because they are sooo cute.

Recently I’ve been having a lot of questions in my head because of my newfound appreciation of kpop, like “How come when I admire so-and-so’s beauty, I get called out for being shallow?” “Why are cute concepts taken for granted and usually belittled compared to more ‘serious’ concepts?” “How should I define real music? What is real music, anyway? Is there fake music?”
…and so on and so forth. Haha. I’m bothered that I’m even thinking of these questions because it means I might be taking music a little to seriously.
Anyway, I’m genuinely excited for Best Love! JB’s recaps got to me again, lol
No, I completely understand where you’re coming from. The k-pop/m-music landscape has changed soo much in the past decade and it’s absolutely valid to have those questions..
In my case, I dont think I’m shallow. Looks, anyone’s looks, I think fits that person. I look at appearance as a sort of art form, it has it’s own meaning, perhaps different sorts of appeal. Some art(faces) dont appeal to me as others do. Does that make sense? lol.

As for what is “serious” vs what is not, it’s hard to gauge what will be respected. I think it goes back to that whole underground vs mainstream debate. What makes the “underground” automatically more meaningful and better in niche audience’s mind? Does that even make sense?

Yea… the underground vs mainstream. I used to work in Liverpool in another life and there were these kids that always used to hang at the coffee shop near my house. All they’d talk about were “posers” and how no one understands the “scene” anymore. How Nirvana “sold out”, how Sex Pistols isn’t a rock band, and Jethro Tull is “mainstream”… Still confused to this day…

Music is like any art…it’s subjective. I listen to all kinds of different things and my devotion to any genre is often questioned because some people think you can’t like hip hop AND industrial. There’s a place for happy bubble gum pop and a place for Moody rock and a place for romantic ballads. Like what you like, liking something simple and fun doesn’t mean you don’t have complex tastes.embrace it as one facet of who you are and not what other people want to label you as….sorry for the big dose of philosophy
psh k-pop is awesome. and why can’t we appreciate good loooking people when there ARE SO MANY in the industry? *dies* I agree that not all pop is created equal and some doesn’t really feel like people put much effort into making it original, but a lot can be said for a really great pop song. Like every new big bang song released in 2011… hehe I’m in love with them.
about the cute concepts versus serious? i think it’s the same with any art form, i’m an art student, and i know artistically if you make something angsty or serious people automatically think more highly of it, which is stupid. just because you put a dark tone on something doesn’t mean that it’s any more meaningful that if it’s happy/pretty… i love fluff though… so there’s that. The thing about pop though, is that part of it’s nature is to be light and fluffy and easy to consume, so we shouldn’t judge it for not being deep. being deep does not make a good song (this is also coming from someone who doesn’t really like ballads).
the indie stuff out there is also very good, I don’t think you can say it’s better, it’s just a different genry (I’m in LOVE with Nell… but that doesn’t mean I think Super Junior isn’t worth listening to)…
basically this was not a very well made answer sorry… but K-pop rocks! is what I was trying to say, and so what if it’s cute and the boys are pretty? that’s part of the draw

Same here. I thought Pasta started out cute, but then it got soooo boring, and the nothing that happened (ever) sadly included the development of the characters.
I didn’t like either of the leads anymore by the end because they got on my nerves with their refusal to grow, and in fact never watched the last few eps at all.
The relationship just didn’t work for me at all, with the characters remaining as immature as they both still were. It felt unequal and more annoying than anything, with the constant repetition.

3 more days till I turn 33 and watching all these dramas focusing so much on a woman’s age isn’t helping me be cheerful at all. I love Baby faced beauty, love it to pieces but I can’t help feel sad cuz I’m an Ahjumma and I need a job too. I feel like the past 11 years have been wasted on a job that is going nowhere, maybe I should go back to college and try something new. Sorry for being so depressing. I need some cheering up maybe I should pull a cake binge like Tae Hee in Birth of the Rich. I really loved her character.

it’s hard, isn’t? i decided to do postgrad studies in another field as i wanted to leave my previous one (like you, i spent mote than 10 years there) BUT the thing is, i’m sure it’ll be a challenge finding a job considering that i don’t have any experience in the new field. i’m really so envious of people who made the right choice at the start and are established and happy with their job/career in their thirties. ah, life!

This is going to completely shock you…
I worked at the same company for 20 years! Yes 20 years!!! I “retired” to take care of my then newborn son because he kept getting RSV at daycare.
I so PRAISE GOD for my wonderful husband who is allowing me to stay home with our son and focus on raising him. This is my current job. I am training as I go.
The work I did for 20 years is now obsolete. I have to go back to college or trade school or something to get educated in a different field. I have hopes and dreams of being self-employed.
I hope you are able to follow your hopes and dreams to get educated and a job in a field you enjoy!
Please Be ENCOURAGED to know that you CAN DO IT!!!
And you are not alone. Don’t spend too much time watching the dramas though, as that in itself will cause depression.

I didn’t “always” want to be married. It would come and go in spurts. I enjoyed being single, but often found myself feeling lonely. I always had male friends, but not often boyfriends.
I actually always had a desire to adopt children. I had a thought to be a single adopt-o-mom, but realistically never came to fruition.
I think the older I got, the more I thought about marriage. I did get into a very serious relationship, “dating with the intent to marry for one year,” which failed six months into it. At that point I decided that I would remain single.
Ba Ha Ha!!! I met my then future husband in the midst of recovery from that broken relationship. He would just quietly be my friend, looking at me with love in his eyes. And foolish me would push him away, while he would quietly wait.
It took three different people in one day all saying the same thing to me “He’d make a good husband” for my eyes to be opened. This is my drama come to life! I married a second lead!!!!! I don’t regret it either. This may be why I tend to find the second leads more desirable.

It’s not always easy living with another person. Many marriages today fail because it’s hard to put the other person or people first all the time. We live in a “me-first” society.
It’s okay to want to remain single.
Second leads are awesome! I have turned a few away, with regret hmm. I think it’s because I have no delusions about marriage and I don’t have enough companionship know how or desire. I’m the type of person who wants to do separate things on a date. I know it won’t be realistic to want to live that way all the time in a marriage and honestly I wouldn’t but I would always think “why am I living this way?”
I don’t know about that. I have two girlfriends who are married. Both of them lead pretty separate daily lives from their husbands. It depends on the husband. Mine likes to be around me as much as possible, but theirs like to be off doing their own thing.

Have not had a chance all week to watch a single episode of ANY drama
but thank God for DB, because I have been able to read the recaps. I have been doing something that I never done before, which is to read the recap first then watch later. can you see my hands trembling? My Kdrama withdrawal symptoms are getting pretty bad! 
The only plus point this week has been that I have been blasting my KPOP and throughly annoying my husband (who had decided to work from home for a while), while in the middle of my cleaning frenzy. 
Either this will drive him insane and back to an office building, or by the end of the month he will be singing KPOP tunes. I don’t know, he’s putting up a good fight so far. 
I’m the opposite —the fresh air is killing me (I’m an allergy sufferer) so I guess this means I should stay inside and watch tons of dramas =DD

While waiting for Best Love to start in the beginning of the week, I went back in time to watch My Girl, one of the first dramas by the Hong Sisters, and must say that even though it’s one of their first dramas, it’s really excellent. The gags and jokes are well delivered and the meta is completely on point. The plot is pretty good and Lee Minki totally sells his role as the cold, distant hero that becomes emotionally involved in his con. Plus the drama has the super attractive Lee Junki. He tends to overemote and become teary when not needed (he must cry like every other episode) but whenever he’s on the screen… sigh.
Haven’t seen Best Love yet, but planning to do so over this weekend!
I’ve been watching hong sisters dramas too. Technically I’m only up to hong gil dong but I’m watching my girlfriend is a gumiho and the last few episodes of you’re beautiful at once. I can’t seem to find a reliable source for hong gil dong but I read the recaps. My girl was one of my favorite k-dramas when I just started, in fact it’s one I recommend to everyone who’s a beginner, I didn’t like couple of fantasy very much. It did have the makgoli obsessed anna which in turn led to makgoli obsessed me, but mostly I thought the two leads were duds. You’re beautiful I think lost traction after the secret was let out ( the first time I gave it up after 4 episodes, second time after episode 12 and now 2 minutes into episode 14) but it’s grown on me a bit. I’m surprised I’m liking gumiho so much.
Ah I’m the exact opposite ~ loved fantasy couple but didn’t enjoy my girl (the girl got too clingy and annoying). I agree with You’re beautiful though – it lost the spark for me when they discovered she was a girl. I think it would have been much better if they dragged out the secret more, or didn’t concentrate so miuch on jgs’ storyline in the second half which, for me, dragged the series down.
you know I had the same issue with my girl when I watched it recently. I loved her coolness ( I’m the cool type) in the beginning and it was funnier then too. Thinking about it this a common hong sisters thing. They do move the girl from person to suction cup pretty quickly. I guess from print to film the need/urgency/desire they’re trying to translate, doesn’t.
aww yay My Girl! I watched it for the first time a few months ago and I loved it! The Hong sisters never fail with their parodies, I LOVE their parodies! Lee Jun Ki was good…. but I am ALL about Lee Dong Wook!! Broody chaebols are the BEST!! I need to get to Delightful Girl soon… I want to know what JB keeps raving about.

this is a reload bcoz the internet spirits are not on my side. currently counting down to work’s end so that i can go home. 3. Today, someone said “I’m so slum”. Weirded out, (O_o) I asked when that phrase came into fashion… They said it’s to prove a point because “I’m so ghetto” sounds just as ridiculous.
4. Pakistan? Afganistan? Iraq? Are we done yet? What is going on? Can someone explain this growing uncertainty or shall I just wiki it?
5. HAPPY ALMOST MOTHER’S DAY!!!
1. Yeah, I got screwed with the whole finals plus dramas thing. I realized that I can operate without sleep and passed out by Friday afternoon. Well, not PASS OUT but more like slept until the cows came home.
2. Make a choice and live with the consequences? Regretting is tiring. So go to PR if you think you’ll regret it later if you don’t.

Yea… I dunno what she was talking about with “I’m so slum”. Slang is slang; I think that it’s cool to speak however you want to as long as it’s not hurtful. I hate when people try to coach someone else’s speech lol. But, that’s they’re happiness, I guess.
Truthfully Ninja, Ghetto, and Bum are just about the only “slangs” that I use. I have a hard enough time learning how to speak English (it’s my second language) so I understand enough slang, but speaking it would make me look like either a “wannabe” or would just make me look like an idiot. My friends speak slang like it’s no one’s business, they can speak “straight” (non-slang, yet not completely proper) English, which is why I understand some slang. I know where you’re coming from about not coaching anyone’s speech. I barely speak it well enough myself, who am I to judge?
As for graduating? OH HAPPY DAY! I’m gonna stay away from Grad School for a while. (I ain’t no sucka foo’. I see what you did there….. See, that’s why I don’t do slang. Half the time I think I’m speaking mumbo jumbo or messing up real bad.) Now, aside from working a 9-to-5 like most adults (probably more hours if I’m looking at part-times as well), I no longer have homework, papers, or exams to get in the way of me and kdramas (t- and j-doramas, and NCIS too). Yippee.
Now I look forward to the usual dilemma we beanies face: oh-em-gee, which is the hotter actor? Should I love the lead or the second lead? Oh nay! XD

The whole week has been a blur.My laptop crashed with over 100hrs of videos I needed to back up.I was marathoning in April and downloaded 4 dramas…all gone.
The ones that devastated me….I lost my BTS kissing scenes for a certain drama which I am not naming because Questions987 will play me out.And my 6 pack collection…SIGH.Do you know how long it takes to build a collection?
Other than that…Can you hear my heart has kept me occupied.

I never wrote here even if i’m following recaps and OT for quite some time but I think I may help for you’re HDD problem.
2 months ago i formatted my external HDD with over 700GO of drama videos and i was devastated like you.
I search on the internet and i found this software : icare data recovery.
With this one i manage to get back almost all the videos (if i remember right, i lost less than 10 videos) ; it took 8 hours to find the lost videos and 7 hours to rewrite them in another HDD so it takes quite some time.
For my HDD, i didn’t write back in it before getting back all the videos, it’s maybe the reason why i could save almost all.
Hope it can help.

you can ask around the soompi forums, but your best bet is WITHS2 or Darksmurfsub or other similarly est. subbing communities.
Otherwise, just take up something that you personally are interested in and will dedicate yourself toward. An idol group, a particular actor/actress, a music group, a particular program, etc.
There’s a lot of lesser known programs that go unrecognized or dont get subbed, which is a shame…
viki is good because of the ease of use, but, the subs often get deleted or the subs get lost… all that hard work *poof!* lol
The subs don’t get deleted…it gets subbed over but you can bring it back up if you know what to do.
Besides we are all waiting for the lock subs function to come back

viki is ok, but not all show are available everywhere. Also depending on licencing issues your work can be lost. For intance, i watched baby face and best love 1st ep with subs there, but the channels are no longer there.

I have the same problem. Which I now solve by downloading from mediumquality.blogspot.com. At 15-20 kbps (gasp! I know, those “speeds” are possible), I can download an episode in 2 hours tops. Still beats waiting 14 hours to download a 700mb episode.
Sigh! Now if only I can solve the burgeoning problem of memory space. I’m downloading waaaaay too many dramas. Damn you, May!

Hey guys! Haven’t been here in a while, due to being busy… But mostly because I’ve been busy with school. Actually I’m not even sure WHAT I am doing here as I should probably be writing my paper and/or studying and/or a variety of things, anything BUT being on DB OT…
BUT. OH MY GOD. This is the worst time for the slew of great dramas to come out. I love Best Love. SLDKFJWEROIUSDFWERFS = my brain when I watch. Seriously. I haven’t laughed like this in a while. I think DB said this might end up being the best Hong sisters drama, just from the high par the actors are at. And I have to agree. Okay I’m gonna get bricked for this, but as much as You’re Beautiful was cute and everything there was a lot of moments where I was unsatisfied with the acting (I don’t think JGS was that bad, but there were shaky moments from PSH and definitely, definitely from JYH). I still need to watch My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho (kept putting off b/c I know I’ll get addicted). My Girl, yes, shaky moments. Hong Gildong, yes, SYR had shaky moments. Actually Delightful Girl… I don’t think had that many shaky moments. Or maybe haven’t watched that in a while.
But yeah, the acting, everything is spot on!! I can feel the “koala tea” seeping through this drama.. And I forgot about Baby Face. Will check that out.
Meanwhile, waiting for Lie To Me. And that other one, right? I forgot what it was called. Or was there another one I was waiting for? SDFLKWER TOO MANY GOOD DRAMAS COMING OUT. (And I still need to watch 49 Days).
Oh, I totally forgot about the finale of Midas and Thorn Birds, both of which I (surprisingly) stuck through. I think I stuck through Midas because it was easy to multitask to. But damn, Thorn Birds was dark. Even though it was birth secret to the nth degree, it was solid, well-acted and well-written in terms of the character development, imo. And I liked the happy ending with Yookyung reconciling with everybody. All in all, the two months or so are over and now it’s time for me to get readdicted (unhealthily) to dramas..

I have to force myself not to read the recaps too… I do exactly the same thing by reading the opening. 49 Days is killing me…my burning curiosity usually makes me read the Wednesday ep recap in full, then watch both eps before reading the recap for Thursdays episode. And I HAD to educate” myself on Best Love, but I’m going to refrain from recaps until after I watch from here on out…probably.

I watched Best Love episode 1 yesterday and I loved it! I’m dying to watch episode 2.
And I wanted to start watching Baby-faced Beauty but I can’t find the channel. :’/
I should really learn to start downloading dramas but the srt/soft subs thing intimidates me.
srt/soft subs are not scary things… they are actually easy to manage… there are some sites helping out in subbing by fans doing the subs, usually proper subs are out as early as the morning of the following day.
It’s really easy to download dramas and watch them with soft subs. You can download dramas at am-addiction.com. Also, find your drama’s official page on soompi. That page will have download links as well. You can download soft subs on various sites like withs2, viki, d-addicts, Haru2subS, etc.
In order for soft subs to work, you just need to put the srt file in the same folder as the video file. You also need to make sure the srt and video files have the same names.
For example, let’s say you have a folder named “My Kdramas.” And lets say you downloaded Best Love episode 2. Let’s say that file’s name is Greatest.Love.E02.XviD-HANrel.avi.
Let’s say you downloaded soft subs from withs2.com. Let’s say the file name is E02.110504.HDTV.XViD-HANrel-[WITH S2].srt.
The file names are different, so make them the same. For example, name the video file Best_Love_Ep2.avi. Then name the soft subs file Best_Love_Ep2.srt.
Now you can watch the drama with soft subs. Just double click on the video file and it will start playing.
That is, of course, if you have installed vlc media player on your computer. So make sure you have downloaded and installed vlc media player. It’s free and it’s universally acknowledged as the best media player available.
It sounds like a lot of work, right? Well once you’ve set everything up, it’s really easy. I usually just wait for someone to upload the episode and stream it. But sometimes you want to physically have a HQ/HD copy of your favorite movie/drama on your hard drive. You know, in case the video gets removed for copyright infringement. Also, you don’t have to wait for the videos to buffer. And the videos will be in crystal clear quality. So download dramas you want to re-watch over and over again!!!

So much OT love, but I’m only here for a brief moment (again) so I can’t join in. In theory, I’m going to be working through lunch. I need to update a report before 3 so the prsn who prints it can get it to everyone before they leave around 4, and it’s already 12:30 here! Plus one of the guys I update for is hard to catch, but of course I have half a dozen questions for him.
Anywho, no k-drama news to report. I’ve been so tired and off-center from the new job and, mostly, my new schedule that I’ve only been able to re-watch The Woman Who Still Wants To Marry (in hopes of kickstarting the muse that said she wanted to write fanfic but is often too busy squeeing to get very far). I think I’m still only up to episode 6 in Return of Iljimae, let alone the other things I’d wanted to watch and the nummy new shows coming out this week.
The new job is good so far, but I’ve felt like I’ve been thrown into the ocean and told to build a boat with just the instructions and some unfinished boards more than a few times. So far, thank you God!, it’s worked out, but I miss having someone to turn around to and say “….so what do I do with this?” Everyone’s been pretty understanding, though, so it’s been okay.

Yeah, just today, my friend and I realized that the actor whom we saw in a filming at the Namdaemun area last year is Kang Sung Min. We didn’t know him back then and only took pictures while they were filming. Bless the crew for they didn’t stop us. We tried to search for Korean actors’ faces and compare the photo. And only from watching 49 Days did we realize it was him that we saw.

I recently rewatched “My Princess” b/c there was little else that interested me and I wanted to see how it held up under a 2nd viewing.
Have to say, it held up pretty well.
Yeah, it had the same weaknesses when it came to the secondary characters (or even the 2nd leads – when it came to PYJ’s character) and the general plotline, but most rom-coms don’t really have a great general plotline w/ the central issue/plot development being how do the 2 leads get together and how does their relationship develop/evolve?
The fun that was the relationship btwn KTH’s and SSH’s characters is still there (and luckily it takes up the majority of the screen time).
While this is in no small part due to KTH’s and SSH’s charm and charisma (and KTH’s much improved acting in the emotional scenes), a lot of it has to do w/ the cute/funny situations and dialogue the writer, Kim Eun-sook, scripted for the 2 (and for the 3, when you add in RSY’s the good prof character).
B/c of that, it’s still enoyable the 2nd time around. It’s hard to believe that a writer who was able to script such fun and witty dialogue/situations and who was able to show the development of the relationship btwn the 2 leads in a believable way for “MP” made such of a trainwreck out of “Secret Garden” – where the relationship btwn the leads was more annoying than anything else.
For instance, the couples in both series would fight and squabble but in MP, the situations were believable, you actually felt something when KTH’s character broke down (unlike when HJW’s ended up crying her eyes out) and there was plenty of good humor/light situations to counter-balance the “heavy” moments; in “SG”, it was just grating.
Furthermore, how the relationship progressed/developed in “SG” was simply unbelievable (HB’s character basically stalks HJW’s character and several times, basically forces himself upon her while all HJW’s character appears to do is hit HB’s character and give him the “evil eye” – and then suddenly the 2 are deeply in love? Yeah, right.)
Also have to give props to the MP soundtrack – which had the same “indie vibe” w/ female vocals of the “Coffee Prince” soundtrack w/ good songs from Taru, Lee Tzsche, Dalmoon, etc.
speaking of secret garden last week I announced one of my coworkers looked like hyun bin and I was admonished to get a photograph. I am ashamed to admit that all of my stalking only led to me seeming like a weirdo and chickening out whenever I got the chance to photograph the guy. He is definitely on to me because he always turns his back to me when he sees my phone.

Currently loving 49 days, such an awesome show (was a fan of JIW before and definitely respect him even more with his turn as Schedular in 49 days. Episode 16 made me cry during his flashback, and I am not a crier in the least. I haven’t seen Best Love yet since I really only have time to watch one kdrama these days since work has piled up during my time away (Europe was AWESOME =) )and since I have been back in the states.
Another place to download dramas & subs is myasiancinema.com. darksmurfsubs are usually posted there and the dramas are downloaded via megaupload and/or a fileserver. Good place to find obscure/old dramas too, especially when the torrents don’t seem to have any seeds anymore.
Someone earlier mentioned Kpop. I was determined not to get interested in Kpop cause I had enough to keep me busy with all the Kdramas I was watching. Fate conspired against me. I was sucked in by GD & TOP’s Knockout and High High videos just in time to catch Big Bang’s comeback. And that was it – resistance was futile. I hope TOP likes noonas, cause he’s marrying me, he just doesn’t know it yet.

How do you put the srt and the raw videos together? Are there instructions somewhere?
You just name both files with the same name and when you play the video, the .srt will automatically play as well.
For example: If the raw video file is named schmazelEp01.avi, name the .srt file identically, schmazelEp01.srt. Hope this helps!
If you have vlc, just click video > subtitles track
If you’re have Windows Media Player, it’s like magic. No need to do anything else if it’s the same filename.
Just to make sure you could install a KLite Codec Pack if you don’t already have it.

Hi ahjummabunny! Thanks for the warm welcome! I have to confess that my addiction to kdramas is now full-blown. I mean, I was watching BSB eating samgyupsal and the next day I dragged my friends to this quaint korean resto near our office just so I can eat the same thing with all my favorite banchan! Dramabeans really sparked my interest after my friend introduced You’re Beautiful to me. Since then, my love affair with kdramas (and my love JIW <3) began, and it's still going strong. So glad I found this site, and all of you!
I live with an abundance of korean restaurants within 2 miles and I’ve never been to one. I usually make the food that drives me crazy with cravings at home. My favorites are spicy pork bone stew, jjangmyeon and jap chae ( all of which I’ve never tasted the authentic!!!) The main reason is you need a lot of people to eat with all the portions are huge and all the people I want to eat with are either busy when I want to eat or have no idea why that food with the funny name should be super delicious.

First time to eat those and my, so good!! My mom’s first time to eat any Korean food and she loved the jajangmyun so much, though at first she was hesitant coz of the color! Do you know what’s in it? YUMMY!!

I imagine jajang tasting slightly sweet, metalic and sour with a lot of onions. The metallic taste would come from the fermented/ pickled black beans which also contribute the tangy taste and the soy sauce will either be a bit sweet or helped along by carrots. I always make it with soy sauce, a little bit of bean paste, spicy pickled black beans, carrots, onions, garlic, and dried or pickled anchovies. Oh and five spice powder. That’s something we use in Guyanese cooking all the time and it smells great. I’m not certain if a similar combo is used in Korean cooking or even authentic Chinese cooking but it’s something in Guyanese Chinese dishes so . . . Anyway my little sister ( she’s 20) just got her first professional job and has promised to take me out to a Korean restaurant with her first paycheck so pretty soon I’ll know if my idea of what the food should taste like is actually so.

I’m a Fringe fan too! I’m a bit afraid I’ll be disappointed! Last season’s season finale was MINDBLOWING. Every muscle in my body was tense for the hour it was airing and for the hour after that.
Gaaah, how cruel are the Fringe people–Peter never existed??? WTF, and we have to wait til Sept! Personally, I wasn’t a fan of this finale–last year’s was so much better for me… What did you think of it?
