You’ve Fallen for Me casts its second lead

Upcoming youth melodrama You’ve Fallen for Me, formerly named Festival, soon to be renamed with the English title Heartstrings as you voted for over at DramaFever, (Geez, that’s a mouthful and a half, and I’m still on the TITLE of the thing…) has cast its second female lead in So Yi-hyun (Gloria, Assorted Gems / Jewel Bibimbap).

The 27-year old actress will be playing a dance teacher at the college of performing arts, where leads Park Shin-hye and Jung Yong-hwa will attend. She also happens to be the object of Jung Yong-hwa’s affection, as he’s got a thing for Teacher, as in Hot-for-My. (They’re only five years apart in age, and their characters could very well be only a few years apart, since it’s set in college.) Either way, I always love this dynamic in dramas, whether or not the romance comes to pass, because it’s such a great source of youthful angst, and such a universal rite of passage to be in love with your teacher who’s out of your league.

She will of course be lovely and perfect and impossible to contend with, (It’s like a girl’s worst nightmare — to have your crush be in love with some willowy dancer. Gah, as if life isn’t unfair enough, really.) but she’s also harboring a lot of personal pain, from having to give up her dream. There’s probably an injury or something like that which prevents her from being a dancer, and teaching it instead.

It’ll be interesting to see what might develop between her and the theater director as well, played by Song Chang-eui, on top of which it’d be fantastic if the unrequited-love-four-square was completed by Park Shin-hye having a crush on him too. ‘Cuz maybe it’s just me, but I’d ditch rocker boy to go double or nothing on Director Hottie any day.

You’ve Fallen for Me premieres June 29 on MBC, following Best Love.

Heartstrings? Not bad I think. A reference to the various heartstrings getting tugged at in college? Corny but not bad. Way to go English voters.

And I meant people who speak English not Colin Firth English.

What do you mean by Colin Firth English?

By the way, is this girl also the second lead from Rebirth/Resurrection? I loved that character, but I'm not sure if this is the same actress.

Colin Firth is an actor from Great Britain/UK/England....right? He's pretty famous in America, too. Ani's just saying "Way to go [voters who speak English]" instead of [voters from England].

Umm, Colin Firth is like, SUPER famous. He's the one who launched the Pride and Prejudice frenzy since the 90s with his portrayal of Mr. Darcy in a English miniseries of the novel. But recently he also won an academy award for The King's Speech......but yeah I get that the kdrama watching crowd and bbc miniseries watching crowd might not have a huge overlap :P

Oh *headdesk* I know who Colin Firth is. Just didn't get Ani's phrase at first. He's the only Mr. Darcy, in my opinion.

0

Oh you're right Ani. I'm pleasantly surprised. Didn't think there were too many people out there who love kdramas AND Victorian literature adaptations.

0

Now there is where you are wrong. I LOVE reading Jane Austen/Charolotte Bronte/etc. and am super addicted to kdramas as well! LOL

0

Oh I loved Colin Firth's Mr Darcy, and Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite novels! And I happened to be an incurable Kdrama addict....

0

*happen. not happened.

Colin Firth as Mr Darcy gave me palpitations.
Did you remember him running down the steps after he changed post dip in lake ? HOT.
Oh his diction is to die for.

Why am I even going gaga over him on DB when my viki avatar is Hyun Bin in uniform :-)

Methinks most Koreans, much less people having the esoteric interest in K-dramas, know who Colin Firth is.

0

its nice to know that people here love bbc miniseries too.. i thought im the only one crazy over period/historical drama.

0

Yep. It's her in Resurrection. Though I won't lie, I get her confused with Chae Jung Ahn all the time.

this says that "I'm With Stupid" won the poll by a margin of 100 votes

But, then it says that they sent the list of top ten titles. So, the Kdrama Gods must've picked Heartstrings. Probably 'cause
1) it was second place, so not like it was unpopular
and 2) "I'm with Stupid" didn't really represent the drama's image?
So, maybe it'll be more dramatic than overly comedic.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that was the user-voted title.

I'd have punched someone if they went with 'I'm with Stupid.'

Why? Both are two sides of the same coin - "I'm With Stupid" is catering to the rockers, while "Heartstrings" is catering to the non-rockers/traditional folk. And if you want to punch someone, punch the idiots who decided to name their band The Stupid in the first place. They left that door WIDE open...

haha, I still prefer "I'm With Stupid" (which as you pointed out, did actually win in the poll). But since it was so close, they sent the top 10 titles to the producers anyway... so really, it could end up as *any* of those, or even remain "You've Fallen For Me".

Should be interesting to see which one comes out on top in the end! 10-to-1, the next post on this drama, cites a different name. ^_^

I like "I'm With Stupid" better, but since the synopsis describes it as a "youth melodrama" I can understand why they'd go with "Heartstrings" instead. The former seems more like a rom-com title.

I think I'm starting to have trouble keeping all these upcoming dramas separate.

I'm going to get nothing done this summer with everything that's coming out. X_X

I'd be a lot more excited about this drama if only we don't already have a ton of dramas with the same theme already aired, being aired, or in the process of trying to get aired.

So Yi Hyun was so good in Gloria, and she's super pretty. There's nothing wrong with having a good secondary couple along with the main couple. Some of the best dramas have that, like Secret Garden and well, Gloria.

Aww I really like her in previous projects. So bright, lovely and bubbly.

I just realised there is a strange coincidence here.
Her character in love and married to Lee Chun Hee in her latest drama, Gloria . While Song Chang Ui and Lee Chun Hee are known to be bff for like 16-17 yrs keke.
I totally ship Yi Hyun and Song Chang Ui together. Gorgeous couple <3

Park Shin Hye and Yong Hwa <3 cute couple
I love the previous title You've fallen for me.
But Heartstring? It's not bad especially there is gonna be lots of music in this drama. Shin Hye character plays gayageum right? If someone could play violin or cello , that would be great :). I'm expecting beautiful OST from this drama.

I love that actress! She did a great job in Hyena, Resurrection and Gloria! Love her quirky charm. She's like the girl that we want to be friends with!

BTW, Jung Yong Hwa's mate from CN.Blue and barely turned actor Kang Min Hyuk will be on the drama, too?

Since I am not particularly interested in this drama's premise (and since I know I am going to end up having to sacrifice watching at least one of these new ones coming out), I don't care what everyone else calls it; I will forever refer to it as "I'm with Stupid." As as been stated previously, they left that door WIDE open.

I'll probably watch the first few episodes, since it seems to have a solid cast, but with so much to chose from, there's just no way I'm going to have time to watch the whole thing. Unless it surprises me and ends up being REALLY awesome.

Way back in 2003, SYH played the "bitchy" rich girl in "Punch" - being poor Shin Min Ah's nemesis.

I know to each their own, but have you guys seen Jung Yonghwa in person?...haha

I've seen him up close...and he looks even more handsome in person (although I think he needs to stop dieting, getting too skinny). I do agree he's not that good of an actor...yet. I think he just needs to hone his skills more. On the other hand, I don't want him to put his music on the back-burner.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to this drama. I also wonder what his band mate, Kang Minhyuk's role will be? Drummer in "The Stupid"?

No matter what -- I can't wait to watch this drama because of Park Shin Hye (I am rooting for her!) AND Jung Yong Hwa!
