Blockbuster disaster movie Tower releases first stills

The first stills are out of blockbuster film Tower, which began filming last month and is currently deep in production. As previously mentioned, Tower is an action movie that centers around a skyscraper fire and comes to us from the director of that other anticipated summer action flick Sector 7, wherein a sea monster terrorizes the workers on an oil rig, led by Ha Ji-won.

Tower will have a different sort of action, though — less kill-the-beast, more save-lives — and stars tough leading man Sol Kyung-gu (No Mercy) as a firefighter, the gorgeous Sohn Ye-jin (Personal Taste) as a restaurant manager working within the building, and a sharp-looking Kim Sang-kyung (My Country Calls) as the building manager. When disaster strikes on Christmas Eve, people begin scrambling to save their lives from the large-scale fire raging within the tower, which sounds like it ought to be intense.

The scenes depicted in these stills are: Restaurant manager Sohn Ye-jin checks on the food in the kitchen in preparation for a large party. In another part of the building, Kim Sang-kyung makes his rounds checking the facilities as part of his team leader duties. Sol Kyung-gu arrives on the scene when help is called and gets to work.

The movie is scheduled for an August release, which just seems insane to me. I know that the Korean entertainment industry thrives on the whole practically-live-shoot-everything system, but beginning filming in May, shooting through June, doing post-production in July, and releasing in August? Sounds like mayhem for everyone involved.

It's fun. I don't know it's just exciting to be the first one.
It's only happened to me once. Although I wrote something other than 'first', which is kind of funny because there's really no need to announce it since anyone who comments can see that. lol

it's not fun at all, is annoying and Javabeans wrote once that she doesn't like this type of comments either.

ikr it's stupid as hell and i hope it doesn't become a trend here.

the person could at least write something about the post or else this comment is useless.

I don't recall this "first" thing happening before the whole layout change. . .

I agree. This crazy obsession of wanting to be "First" is just lame. I recall as well javabean states she doesn't like this kind of useless comment. Unfortunately this has become a trend as it's happening to almost every single post....people keeps refreshing the page endless times just to be "First".

Sounds a lot like the classic "Towering Inferno", but with a few tweaks, and much prettier actors.

Hmmm...watched that movie for the first time just a couple of years ago ;). Awesome 70's disaster flick. Part of my marathon of watching disaster movies like that one, Posideon adventure, earthquake, etc. Good flicks all....not much appreciated these days though.

Don't forget the sub-genre of Airplane Disaster movies. Those were so cheesy that you couldn't look away.

I totally read the title to this post wrong. I thought it meant it was a total disaster of a blockbuster movie that is finally getting released. HAHAHA. Oops.

i've missed Sohn Ye-jin, the plot sounds good enough and the cast is solid so i'm definitely excited to watch this movie (and wow how they can film and wrap things so quickly, what's the hurry?).

FYI, this is actually a remake of that movie The Towering Inferno. They announced it even before the finalized the casts. The Towering Inferno involves a lot of actors while in this version there are only 3 big stars so pretty sure it's gonna be the same plot but with tweaks yeah..^^

thanks for the info... Towering Inferno made such an impact on me because I can still remember it after all these years... I can't remember the actors involved, but can remember the story...

Yeah, I saw Towering Inferno (1974) too during the year it was shown (that dates me). One of the most memorable disaster movies ever. With two of the hottest actors then--Steve McQueen and Paul Newman--heading a stellar cast that included the likes of Faye Dunaway and William Holden.
I think it was a kind of tribute to firefighters.

Ah, okay, it looked like it probably was, but I know that sometimes movies and shows reuse titles, so I wasn't sure until read this article and then saw your response. I really liked the original, so it's nice to see it resurrected. I'm a disaster movie fan, and I'll definitely want to see this one.

I was like "Is that Sohn Ye-jin? YES! It's Sohn Ye-jin!" Haha, I'm getting better at faces. Well, except Lee Min-hot... that needs no introduction.

Lee Min-ho = Lee Min-hot. Doesn't seem like a typo to me :)

About this movie: Towering Inferno is my mom's all time favorite movie (yeah I don't get it either) so maybe I can actually get her to watch this one with me. Sounds like it might be interesting to see exactly how they are going to tweak it.

And I agree with all the comments about crazy fast schedule. I guess I'll never completely understand this.

Maybe because I was completely thinking "Lee Min-hot" while I was typing. XD

I hadn't watched the original movie so I had to google it. [Ohmigod it's older than me LOL.] And I agree with you on the sked--- no allowance for errors / accidents, with this type of movie? And won't CGI need a lot of time as well?

i hate to see that we are debating about stupid thing. people love to comment in dramabeans , they say whatever they like without the interference of others so if one write first writer another thing and don't critisize them
I want to say whatever i want even if javabeans or girlfriday doesn't like it because sometimes i read what they write and i didn't like. we have just to respect the others

I think "Eerie Romance" is the one scheduled for an August release while "Tower" is slated for 2012 or towards the end of 2011.
