Lie To Me: Episode 15 Open Thread

EPISODE 15 WEECAP

Ah-jung gets the word that she’s fired and runs out of the party barefoot. Piggyback time! And then to drive the Cinderella motif in further, someone retrieves her shoes, and Ki-joon puts them on her feet tenderly as he literally makes the crack, “They’re not even glass.” He calls her a crybaby (ain’t that the truth) and promises to make it so that she won’t cry anymore. Care to make a wager on that?

The next day she gets help from Jae-bum to find out if she can repeal the decision, and finds out that she can gather evidence to present to the board. Both Ki-joon and Dad have to hear that she was fired from other people.

Yoon-ju finally decides to leave for Paris. Why is she still in this drama? She confesses to Mom that she should’ve given up cleanly, but she kept doing bad things, and becoming a bad person. Yes, that is an accurate assessment. So… again I ask, why are you still here?

Ki-joon feels useless to Ah-jung’s cause, and in the end helps by staging a one-man demonstration outside her office, passing out flyers to get people behind her cause. It’s no “Donna Martin Graduates!” but Ah-jung is touched by the gesture anyway.

She practices her big speech and then presents her case to the board and Ki-joon waits anxiously. The rest of us do not, because we know this conflict is neither here nor there, and she’s certainly not going to end the drama jobless.

She does the big fakeout and then laugh-cries that she got her job back.

Even Ki-joon’s aunt tacitly gives in to approve of Ah-jung. Why do you switch sides every other episode? Because you’re a plot device rather than a real character?

Ki-joon buys ice cream for Ah-jung’s whole office to congratulate her big return. He makes Park Hoon wear a Pooh costume because he’s sadistic like that.

Time for new conflict: Ah-jung has cold feet about marriage. Buuuuuuut… that makes no sense.

Meanwhile they decide to surprise Dad and Not-Mom with a surprise wedding. No one thought that springing a surprise wedding on people might go badly?

Yoon-ju declares that Ah-jung has won (thanks for the news, Sargent Slow on the Uptake) and leaves for Paris, with goodbyes from Ki-joon and Sang-hee. I’m confused about who Sang-hee’s in love with. I think he is too.

Ki-joon proposes that they write down their top ten qualities for an ideal mate. His are:

1. Even cereal is okay! A woman who makes breakfast.
2. A woman who will exercise with me in the morning.
3. A woman who knows how to accept an apology if I say I’m sorry after a fight.
4. A woman who can cry at a sad movie.
5. A woman I can spend time with, even if our hobbies are different.
6. A woman who is honest even about the little things.
7. A woman who can drink like a guy.
8. Even if the years pass, a woman whose wrinkles are pretty, without having to maintain wrinkle care.
9. A woman who’s planning on at least 1 boy, 2 girls.
10. A woman who knows what kind of woman Hyun Ki-joon’s woman is.
P.S. A woman whose hands and feet are pretty.

Ki-joon’s aunt calls Ah-jung over and gives her a big scare, prepping her to become World Group’s trophy wife. Ah-jung tells her that she’s not going to quit her job, and starts to feel the pressure of what it means to marry Ki-joon. She starts crossing off everything on his list.

He can sense she’s in a bad mood, so he brings her over to his house for a surprise… and shows off his new decor, a la Vegas Light Show. How is redecorating your house a present for her? He shows her his secret model-building room. He lights up the model village, and the train arrives with a necklace for Ah-jung. Oh, that’s cute.

Ki-joon: I’ve only ever lived for other people, and this is a place just for me. Now I want to share it with you. Will you marry me?
Ah-jung: I’ve thought a lot about marriage… I don’t think that I’m your woman.

WHAT, now?

Now i know why you've been losing readers [which I still am confused about why on earth you still continue recapping though you two hobviously hate the series]and Koala's blog gaining over 800+ readers everytime the recaps come out, this blog is full of scary antis

usually i try to be nice but seriously, GTFO.
I love JB/GF and i like Ockoala too and i doubt ockoala would be proud of her readership (even if its one person) spouting absolute rubbish on other blogs

I've been reading DB for a good two years + and i aint going anywhere.
if you want to start crunching numbers then fine by me.

Just a cursory look at the soompi thread is testament to the maturity of this dramas fandom and no i am not talking about the spazz comments but the way they treat people with different views; -_______-
i can see why you think any criticism = "anti"
LOL.

1. You dont have to understand why they recap
2. if you dont like it dont read it.
3. they are entitled to their own opinion.
4. Stop being so butthurt and deal with it.

Just because they say the truth doesn't mean they are antis.

The plot just sucks. You can't deny reality. Those who say this drama is awesome are obviously in denial.

I really wonder about the people who still watch this dreck and like it.

Must be the same type who listen to the Bieber. lol

I never get the Bieber hate. PPl watch this is b/c they love YEH and KJH, don't make fun of them. Every drama has its audience.

Just make fun of the scriptwriter.

I love YEH as well, and I like what KJH did in "Coffee House" ("HGD" not so much), but it was painful to see the 2 try to act in this dreck.

Also, while I love YEH, she has fallen back to some of her bad habits of overdoing the cute mannerisms and not really acting (to get the best out of her, YEH needs a good script and a good PD like she had in "Coffee Prince.").

Wait, do we all have to hate it ?
I watch it and I like it . I am not amused of the plot or something, neither is the drama I ll never forget and I am hooked of .
Its another cliche drama, with the same old plot.
Plus it has an OTP with the best chemistry ever. Nothing more, nothing less.
There is no need to be the best drama ever to watch it.

PS: And I hate Bieber.

Many thanks for you recap.

The writer is trying to buy time or what? Lets see. Tonite will most probably be about how KiJoon change Ah Jung's mind (there betta be lotsa cute antics and skin contact) and they end up together in bed.

I will unashamedly (?) admit I love this drama... I don't expect great literary works here, I just want to have fun. I will surely have a hole in my heart when this goes off the air. It is literally like watching love develop right before our eyes. Oh, for all of you who doubt... Koala ran a little article recently which I will share a snippet for anyone who didn't see it....

"As of today, LTM not only continues to be #1 at mysoju, Tudou, and Youku, it’s #1 at an unprecedented viewing amount. In the 50 days since the drama premiered, it has been viewed over 100 million times on China’s five main streaming sites. This heretofore unheard of online popularity for a drama in China (such high view volume in such a short period of time) has been discussed as highly unlikely to be beat anytime in the near future for any drama. No other drama has ever come close to this view volume in this period of time."

"MGIAG", "My Princess", "Best Love", etc. were light and fun - "LTM" otoh is just plain awful and may very well be among the worst romcoms ever (I didn't even go that far for "Secret Garden").

Seeing the 2 leads kiss (just b/c you like the 2 actors) doesn't = fun; that takes zippy, witty/fun dialogue of which this romcom has zero.

And yeah, I wouldn't take too much credence on the no. of downloads (esp. overseas where much is lost in translation); after all, they're the type to listen to crappy K-pop. (or turn mediocre shows like "Goong" or "Boys over Flowers" into hits).

Probably the same demographics that turned the Bieber into a giant star (not exactly high standards; heck, not even medium standards).

I mean what romcom isn't supposed to be "light and fun"? That's the whole purpose of a romcom.

Well, this drama and its online "ratings" simply proves that a) popularity does not equal quality, and 2) lemming-like people are, sadly, a bad, banal force in this planet.

But I guess I'm old and jaded and lack of plot/lotta kisses has no effect on me anymore. If I wanted that I would watch one of those Miami telenovelas from Univisión. At least there's a lot of skin and sexy times, hah...

I don't believe too much on the numbers on these streaming sites (whether they are based in China, Korea or Timbuktu). 100 million views does not = 100 million viewers. 1 person could be clicking on the same video 10x/100x/1000x/10,000x or more in a day and will be counted everytime.

I have heard that there are even some management companies and production companies in Korea that hire people just to click on videos or pictures or what-have-you just to jack up the numbers of certain actors/actresses/shows to fool people into thinking that a certain actor/actress/show is popular online.

This is one of my favorite websites and I like Lie To Me and I enjoy reading the wee-caps. I think that if you do not like the show then you can give your reasons without offending the people that like the show. The same with people that like the show.

recaps are very huge help for us! thanks for your effort to share...

though it is so frustrating that LTM is not what i expected to be... not so heart catching story as most sequence are so common but still i love "common corny love craze in korean ways" ...

so thank you YEH and KJH for the blossoms & bubbles of romance you bestowed in my heart.... glad to say that I will watch LTM till the last episode...

"colakiss" will be remembered always!

No I am ok with her saying no or at lest the idea of her having serious second thoughts. I never been a fan of the idea that once a girl gets married she pretty much loses all sense of self and lives totally for her husband and the children, pretty well becoming a non-person. Giving up everything she is so to fit with her husband, and that what they asking of her. Of course that perhaps is not what Ki-joon wants, but she not marring just him she marring everything else he is and that is his status and so on.
I never really understood this depersonalisation thing that goes on in regard to female who get married in Korea, the mother in law thing the fact she still has her own name not the families she marries into, the lose of identity and of self and even of sexuiity once she has children, so she not even a woman any more or something...all i can say is marriage her a girl in Korea must be one scary thing, judging by the endless mothers in K-drama who live sad empty and tragic lives, old before there time, who hate their husbands but are trapped...

Only the craziest show can make them do this. Kudos to LTM! This might just be their greatest achievement after all.

They pick interesting songs for background music in this drama (sort of like in Coffe Prince and Soulmate). Which is one of the upsides.
I swear I just heard a swedish band named Kent in the background when Yoon-yu and Sang-hee spoke. Singing in swedish about midsummer and potatoes. Did not see that one coming.

I am amused that the subs for LTM come out very quickly, it seems within 24 hours after being shown. But for a better show like The Best/Greatest Love, it was closer to 72 hours.

So I don't know what the subbers are thinking.

I just discovered your blog....LOVE your reviews/comment/ etc.

I really liked this show until about halfway through when it just started getting weirder and weirder. It's definitely a waste of YEH and KJW, both favorite actors of mine.

And, I never did figure out exactly WHAT she lost, and why finding the artifact helped her find whatever that was. But, whatever. I'm on to the next thing.....drooling over LMH in City Hunter. Pretty silly, since I have kids older than him, but whatever....he's a cutie, I just wanna pinch his cheeks. Won't elaborate on WHICH cheeks......
