p.s. I forgot to answer one of your questions. I was scrapbooking. I don’t like to do it, I am a card-maker, sewing type of girl, but all for the love of my son do I scrapbook. I want him to have fun memories!!!
I used to crochet, but it hurts my hands so I stopped. I still will cross-stitch in the winter time, but not so much.

Can you hear my heart seriously has me addicted. The plot picked up real nicely and HJE finally shaped up her acting. I’m loving the bond between brothers, the bond they have with Woori, Choi Jinchul’s and mother’s battle of wits… Everything except that weird new woman that looks like Woori’s mother. Her character is kind of… useless?
I know, right? I was wondering why they brought the actress back at all. She doesn’t add anything to the show.
yeah..but I love her character….so goofy and I love that she can put Shin Ae in her place…looks like we may have a mini cat fight between them tomorrow from the looks of the preview
She will be unfolded slowly, at least she helps fight the devil, gotta trust this writer. ^^
I like her character with Bong Young Gyu, they can be together again as a bickering couple. SO CUTE!
And I love that she puts Shin-Ae in the right place, go lady!

I was worried that at the end of that hand-kiss by WR and JH, the story will start to drag. But the screenwriter is great in balancing angst with cuteness! Can’t wait for tomorrow.
My favorite drama for this year i guess and I wasn’t expecting much from it.
I like the new character who looks like Woori’s mother. She is quirky and cool and she totally looks down on Shin Ae! I hope they develop that character more. I go flip flopping between the two brothers… I don’t know who to root for! I am really digging the drama as a whole!
I’m curious as to why she looks so much like her mother. o_o But Woori’s mother couldn’t talk. A twin sister? Woori’s real aunt?
I was so eagerly awaiting the English subs on last weeks episodes! I loved, loved, loved the scene in the dance club on the dance floor in Ep 17 and the scene in Dong-joo’s kitchen in Ep 18 the best. Of course I think I love any scene when romance is involved.
However, I don’t quite understand what Woo-ri is planing on doing as she speaks in Ep 17 during the dance floor scene:
Woo-ri stops dancing after declaring she wants to dance until she forgets everything. She hugs Dong-joo, pulls back and says to him, “From now on you really can’t say anything at all.”
She hugs him again and while hugging him says, “Cha Dong-joo… I… If I become the worst woman in the world, you can’t hate me, okay?”
They break apart and he says, “You said for me not to say anything.” She nods in affirmation.
He hugs her, keeping her close and thinks to himself ‘Bong Woo-ri. Can I say one thing more?’ He holds her head gently to his shoulder, ‘Just as we are now. Stay by my side.’
They continue to hug. She looks like she’s about to cry, caught up in her misery caused by the knowledge she gained of who Bong Ma-roo’s real parents are and what that means for Cha Dong-joo.
The hug continues as they are both oblivious to the raging dance music, flashing lights, and dancers all around them. They cling to each other in love, compassion, and fear of the unknown. Both knowing that they need the other, but neither stating so, instead quietly making their own resolution to defend the other, no matter what the cost.
I didn’t get that club scene either. I thought it meant she was going to move more towards Joon-ha even though she didn’t love him in an effort to somehow protect him since she knows he is really Ma-roo but then in 18 she had that moment with Dong-joo. So wtf was she talking about there as far as becoming the worst woman?! And why did she have him buy her all those expensive items suddenly??
I never know where that show is going anymore but I’m in until the end.

IMHO she meant she is bad because she is letting go of Ma-roo….which has been her aim her entire life. Instead of wanting Ma-roo to reunite with her family…she wanted MR to stay as he is…because JunHa becoming MR means Choi will get his wish and will throw out DongJoo and his mum…
At the end of it all, her heart is set on DJ…because she doesn’t want him to be hurt anymore…she felt selfish.
Point is..her actions (though partially JH’s wish) just made MR/JH more pitiful…he has no family (he has forsaken his original family, used by his new mother, borned to an evil father and useless mother) and no love (Woori obviously only loves DJ)…

I stop CYHMH after episode 8 because the subs was so slow and because Best Love just took over … I am keeping them for after Best Love but I am afraid if things go bad for Best Love …my poor heart might not be able to HEAR cyhmh !
Yeah, go back to it later. The delay is killing me, but I’m so hooked! Those subs being seem to be a second priority for everyone. I estimate it’s taking them four days to get them subbed and released.
Viki has been putting the softsubs out pretty damn quick. I know ep 17 came out like the next day after it aired. Darksmurf is a lot slower but I guess that is because this isn’t a popular show sadly.

I’ve been pondering over the dance scene too. In my mind, I tried to rewind their previous chats, interaction scenes. I had an answer…I forgot it now after watching so many aah so good Kdramas…it got lost there but…I can remember why or what Woori has in mind about being bad. I suspect its about Maroo. While she loves Maroo oppa she also wants to protect Dong Joo. She heard the plans of Maroo’s evil real dad…to find his own son so he can give him the company & not to Dongjoo. Hearing that she realize what grandma meant fearing for Maroo…so she decided not to reveal the identity of Maroo. So she met the doctor, both knowing she knows now he is Maroo, & let him spoil her then told him she wont look for him (Maroo) anymore and that’s another very sad scene of them. Woori sacrifices the knowledge of Maroo’s identity to protect Dongjoo. With the same reason, grandma wants to protect Maroo. Both of them protecting thir loved ones from Maroo’s evil dad & greedy, sefish, shameless, guiltless Shi Nae.

Me too. I don’t know why I stayed with the drama. In the beginning, I hated every character. Also, every time Woori cried oppa, opPA, OPPA, Ma ru OPPPPPAAAAAAAAA, I thought I was going to pull my hair out. In spite of that, I just kept watching. I am so happy I did. It just kept getting better and better. I can’t wait for tomorrow.
Also, do you think Nam is going to be like a long lost twin sister or relative? I like her because she is a different kind of character. She’s fun, but I still don’t know her purpose.
It is addicting. And as it relates to that woman, they needed a reason to get Woo Ri into Energy Cell so there can be more character interaction. There wouldn’t be any reason for Dong Joo or that other girl to offer her a job but this new lady comes in…quirky and awesome…and draws Woo Ri along as well.
And she is going to be revealed as – dun dun dun – Woori’s real mother, I am guessing!
I doubt she will be Woo-ri’s real mom but hey its a kdrama so you never know! I’m trying to figure out if she is going to be a possible future wife for Young-gyu. She has some weird reactions to him. They sure would make a strange (but possibly cute) pair.
I agree. It’d be a bit too much to have her be Woo-Ri’s real mom. She may be a twin sister though or just a regular doppleganger.

Now I’m curious who her (Woori) dad is. I can see the sunglasses lady liking Woori’s “dad”. She’s added more fun to CYHMH with her spunk. Really love it when she gave Shi Nae the flick!

Adore Best Love! Waiting for recaps of City Hunter…
As a new fan of Dr. Adorkable, Pil-joo, got interested in his previous drama so I read recaps of Who Are You? by JB last night. Will marathon episodes later.
I’ve been avoiding watching Best Love because I’m already watching City Hunter and Lie To Me… and I can’t take the “wait a whole week” for my next episode.
But thanks to the great recaps I got in … hook, line & sinker!

I have yet to watch City Hunter, Midas, and Romance Town. How can there be so many good dramas and so little time???
Midas got pretty boring in the middle when they started to talk about business and all; i only skimmed through for noh min woo haha; i would recommend City Hunter and Romance Town though– both are really good so far !
pfft that’s exactly what i did, watch all no minwoo parts and lee minjung parts haha.
Midas is a show that reeeaaaally wants to be better than it is but it isn’t. if you’ve seen giant and a man’s story midas will seem lacking, but if you haven’t midas is a fine piece. The business stuff is filler and there are parts that just don’t seem to connect. but they didn’t seem too rushed for time at any point.
We all know why you’re watching Midas…

I’m rewatching Giant with my yeodongsaeng who is going mad for Lee Bum Soo as KangMo. I went a little mad too but this time around I’m all Seung Mo when originally I didn’t like the actor after his Bad Couple selfish jackass role. Anyway, it got me thinking about the Vengeance Jung Yeon scene when she tells Kang Mo if he had any regard for her he should’ve come to her first. I had always agreed with her and I still do but I finally thought of Kang Mo’s reasons. He had other secrets to protect and he didn’t feel like he should ask her to truly side with him when he’s out to destroy her father.

Why do you think that Lee So Young is pushing Choi Jin Wook away? Is it because she knows her lying will hurt him? Or is it because she is liking the boss, or actually the boss’ little girl?
Would a woman actually turn away a man she likes a lot because she likes a little girl so much she would want to date the dad? That doesn’t make sense to me.
I’m confused… i don’t remember saying that. On the contrary, i’m completely behind Jin-wook and So-Young. if you disregard The Age Lie for a moment, their relationship progresses in a very… normal way, you know? Somethinq you would see happening to your friends, to people around you.
Sometimes i feel k-drama stays away from the ‘normal’ love stories and ‘normal’ lives, cuz the writers feel we get enough of that in our own lives… but its nice to be watching two shows in parallel, where the leading men are attracted to the woman in their lives, in such an obviously different manner. There the Ddokobot who feels that ‘His wrist monitor is going 130, ergo it must be love’. But how he deals with that, with his infallible Potato-man charm is what gets me pining for a new episode each week.
And then on the other hand there’s Jin Wook, falls head first, asks questions later… i’m really glad the lie came out right when it did, right at the 10th episode, because that leaves eight more episodes to deal with ze angst and ze ambition. I had this nagging fear that it would come out right around the 16th ep, and within another two eps, they’d wrap the show in a bow and send it off. :/

I apologize… I was asking questions, not meaning to infer you made such a statement. These are my thoughts put into question format.
I should prefice my questions with the fact that I am thinking of the latest episode when they are on the stairs and she tells him she doesn’t want to date him. When he leaves, she squats down and starts crying. He comes back and sees that she has feeling for him and hugs her (the cute love scene). But the next day she is pushing him away again. I was wanting to know your thoughts about that scene, if you care to share them, of course.
I love all the recaps!! it makes my days at work go by a little quicker. I do wish for one thing…that the other guys win the main girl. For example in Best Love…it would totally be awesome if the ending of the drama AeJung really does go for Piljoo instead of it obviously looking like she is going to end up with Jin. Or in Baby face beauty if So young really does end up with the President. probably would make me jump for joy to see dramas end up not too cliche.
I’ve been thinking about my love life and feeling a bit miserable. I couldn’t remember a time when there were two guys vying for my affection. but then I remembered the thing we always forget as viewers that when you like someone you don’t notice the other people at your side sometimes you’re even irritated by them. So then I was cheered because I too have rejected a second lead!!!

i totally agree. Lately they have been choosing these awesome second leads. They really do need to make one with a twist with the second lead taking the main girl. Well…thinking about it..they did kinda. With Dream High where the hottie country boy wins the main lead when we all thought that it was gonna be the tough guy who wants his daddy to love him (sorry i already forgot all their names haha)

city hunter is sometimes kind of baffling, but i love the action though… yoon sung’s a little too soft for my liking as opposed to the ruthless guy i thought he would be really toughened up after 28 years of revenge in the mind, but turns out he was soft from the start, he’s still hot though…
romance town’s logic baffles me … soon guem’s going shizo and i don’t understand gun woo. masters and maids go on a date and maids meet up with friends and go out all the time. but all is cute in the illogical little town and i still love you =]]
I was thinking that also, Yoon Sung was brought up by a rutheless killer… yet he never heardened his heart in all the years he was training? I want more of the playboy action and less of the wimpy abandoned boy.

I never saw the real City Hunter, so I’m sorry I can’t compare.
But I read this statement here (was it GF or JB?) that Lee Min Hot would be miscasted in terms of roughness but emotionally he would fit. That dazzled my mind and now I exepted it right away. So this kind of City Hunter doesn’t annoy me at all.

Lee Min Ho has a sensitivity to his acting – it was apparent in BOF. If he was a ruthless personality like his psycho/damaged step daddy, the character would be flat. (Kind of “Terminator” in feel).
I really like that LMH’s character rises above his ruthless upbringing and retains an inate sense of humanity and goodness without being sappy.
He killed a cook with a spoon! He played with the kids and NaNa in the water fountain. He’s a lonely individual who desperately wants to have a real connection with people.
The writers are doing a terrific job so far in character development and pushing the plot forward. City Hunter is my favorite drama of the May offerings – it’s hitting all the right buttons for me.
I just wish the wardrobe department would toss out those damn pink pants!

If you’re in the mood for a movie, i suggest Finding Kim Jong-wook. Gong Yoo at his adorkable best! And the gratuitous shots of Jodhpur make me feel proud, in a dorky way 
If you are not opposed to Taiwanese dramas, try last year’s Down With Love … lots of laughs and love MOST episodes.

Okay, a few more ideas, then … I watch Wish Upon a Star when I’m down because those darn kids are sssoooo adorable, they are an instant pick-me-up for me.
Also, sometimes we just start with Delightful Girl and come forward through all of the Hong Sisters dramas.
City Hall is also a fun watch for me (love the love in it!), or I go to Baby and I (K-movie with Jang Geun Suk) or Miss Golddigger or Marrying the Mafia (k-movies that are NOT PG-13, so expect some languages and sexual innuendo) … they all make me laugh. There are so many more, but maybe one of these will ht the right note for you.

Jodhpur was the city Im Soo-jung went to in India! My university took us there once, to study the architecture of some of the palaces… I will never forget that trip. Breathtakingly beautiful city
Anyway, there is this movie, called Dilwale Dulhaniya le Jaenge… roughly it means, “Only the strongest of heart will get the bride”. Yeah, bad translation, i know. But its a really really good movie. That one movie, single handedly made its leads the two most important actors in Bollywood… yeah, Shahrukh Khan is pretty much our Cha Seung-won.
Anyway, its about these two people who go on the Eurorail after graduation and get stranded in Switzerland. And of course, since its a romance, they fall in love. And of course since its a Hindi movie, they have a highly exaggerated premise where the girl is forced to come back to India and get engaged.
So its up to the guy to come down and whisk away the bride. Corny plot, i know, but its a really good movie. Still runs in theatres here, after nearly 15 years! Give it a try, if you like. its on Veoh.
I’d say marathon some oldies like Ms Kim makes 1 mill, Attic Cat, any Hong sisters drama you haven’t watched yet…ooh and Soulmate never fails to make me laugh either

I just finished watching WISFC last night
did you love it? honestly that is one of my favorite dramas I’ve seen it 2 times already and probably will watch it once more some time soon. I don’t even like melos but I think the writing in that drama is just great.
I really liked it! I don’t mind a few melos now and then. On the contrary, I welcome them. But only if they’re done well as WISFC is.
Kang Jin is one of the sweetest and memorable Kdrama heroes I’ve seen so far. I think he is right up there at Kang ah level.
I hope Ki Joon, the idiot, gets struck by lightning twice, for making Ah Jung and me cry.

OMG…… I was so wrong. I am so glad i check out City Hunter Ep.1 since JB, GF and Ockoala were recapping it. Now i am totally hooked. This is THE drama of the year for me. Loving every bit, the ost, cinematography, and the cast is amazing. Never been a fan of LMH. Now i understand why he’s getting so many love.
Miss Ripley, i am so not disappointed.
I love City Hunter! I began watching it because of LMH and have been enjoying every episode. I’m torn between wanting a more ruthless Yoon Sung or the good guy Robin Hood.
I’m still waiting anxiously for the next episode.
i’m actually loving his character to bits! he’s up for revenge but not the ruthless one i was familiar with. he has heart and brain and a desire to have a normal life, avoiding getting blood on his hand because he thinks there’s no way the children of the ones he kill will let him off. the cycle will continue on and on. thus the intense that happens in Ep4 which i love to bits. *SPOILER ALERT* YS saving his supposed target from his one and only surrogate father. love it! cant wait for next week seriously!

I don’t know what your exact situation is, but for me, total and abject failure at something was what I needed to (finally) get me off a path that had been making me miserable for a long time.
I’m not one of those “look on the bright side” people, but sometimes having a possibility removed both forces you to, and makes it easier to, figure out WHY you got into that thing in the first place, and WHAT might make you happier.

Yeah I’ve failed at quite a few things, even had people younger than me “tell me how it’s done” (shrugs) but everyone makes mistakes, failing is just a stepping stone to success.
Trust me my cooking sucks. Before I moved out of my home my family was wondering how would survive.
I currently tried to improve my cooking but I gave up coz the food was tasteless despite using spices, etc
So I currently survive on trader Joe’s precooked meat, rice, and fast food. Not really healthy but I have no time to cook
Maybe I should attempt to a few korean recipes for a change.
If they are available to you, buy the Trader Joe’s macarons. They’re a little expensive, but they’re awesome. I wish they made more flavors other than chocolate and vanilla.
Fool proof method to being a bad cook and having no time: Buy a slow cooker. You can even get tiny ones that feed 1-2 people. Set it and forget it, delicious foods can be had whenever!
nah the cure for the downs is the ups dramas! The dramas that made you smile until your face hurt or say awww aloud so often people think you’re in pain.

I know it sucks but failure is something we gotta put up with from time to time (and often more than once…sucks even more,lol). I have to agree with Sethe in that failure may be a necessary evil because I think it really does give us an opportunity to realize that there are other possibilites out there. There may be things you may not have known were there or may have ignored simply because you were focused on that one goal that fell through. Take some time to regroup and look around. I’m sure you’ll something out there better for you. I hope reading our messages helps cheer you up because like MJP said we’re here for you. Best wishes!!!

Well, i predict some Coffee Prince level angst here. But ya know, somehow i have this niggling feeling that McSexy the president knows about her age… they make an entire story arc on Hyeon-i finding out that ’78 is her birth year, and no her IQ, then why did they go so surprisingly quiet on that issue once she did find out? My guess is, she told appa. Or she will stand up for So Young when her father tells her about it.
I know! He’s the only reason I watch Baby faced beauty (ok, besides the hot president..). He’s just so earnest in that role, and he was hilarious during the belly dancing scene LOL. Couldn’t stop laughing!
Lol, i know right? I loved the scene where he comes back to the stairs when she’s crying. Normally a k-drama would play out the angst and she would get away with being the Noble Idiot. But they really caught me, when they had him come back.
Plus, the way he comforts her, like a true oppa… its even more poignant cuz we all know she’s the noona in that equation. But the way he looks out for her and takes care of her and stalks is overly protective of her… i find that adorable.
Omg yes I love the scene where he came to see her crying. They made it light hearted, but yet you could see he was obviously touched to see her tears.
I love the scene when they were in the car playing go-stop in the rain.. It’s really romantic, and reminds me of being stuck with my crush in the rain a few years back. I could totally relate to Jinwuk in that moment.
Oh, i know! He looked so vulnerable in that one scene, like one word from her, a millisecond of eye contact, anything, would break his resolve…. it killed me! At times like this, i really wonder; what exactly goes on in an actors head when he acts out a scene as emotionally charged as that?
i love the car scene too! really romantic. i think its my favouritest love confession ever!
@Bourbon: IKR. I have always wondered if the actors get confused between real and reel, since they probably have to call upon real feelings to act like that. But then again all the camera crew around them probably zaps away the romantic atmosphere.
Agreed. when someone that adorable, even though its acting, tells you something like, “I can’t see anyone else but you”, how do you stop yourself from feeling that happy little bubble inside? They have to be really really professional to be able to disregard it in real life!

I got love for Daniel Choi! His dorky smile is too adorable for words. But I gotta be honest and say that Ryu Jin (the president) really brings the sexy, lol. I first saw Daniel in Cyrano but I didn’t really notice him there. I think bourbon’s right and he was really made to play this character. I can’t wait to see what happens now that So Young confessed! I wonder if maybe he’ll make a confession of his own (you know the whole “my family’s loaded but I decided to go out and do things on my own” thing) out of solidarity for So Young’s situation. Yes…No…Maybe?

i dont think its purely LMH because i’m not so obsessed like this with Personal Taste. but LYS character definitely up the awesomeness of him so i think LMH as LYS is definitely the major reason behind my addiction.
but, without the tight pace, the intriguing storyline, the awesome osts, the cool action scenes, the cute interaction with the ahjusshi the cook, the interaction between YS and Nana, the funny interaction between YS and the prosecutor, i could go on and on… i dont think i can be this hooked! this drama has really been great so far. there’s hardly any scene i want to fast forward. it has everything i want in a drama; romance, cute, action, mystery, character complex and heart. and a fast pace.
i hope City Hunter will just continue to get better and better like how it has been doing so far.

Heeeey K Drama Fan! Heard the shout out all the way in the library where I should have been studying for my exams hehehe! Loving NTOG. Like … said I’m ecstatic that the angst is over. Sa Ran acts SO much better when she’s smiling and being cute with Damo (especially since I don’t have to put my face up to the screen trying to figure out what sad/angry/pained/really just blank look she’s pulling). The actress is so pretty and it’s a real waste to let her looks and acting skills go to waste by giving her scenarios she doesn’t have the capability of pulling of yet.
Damo’s acting has gotten a lot more natural as well and you can see he’s enjoying playing his role.
I hope there are loads more scenes with SonJa and SaRan’s sister, because there was a time I was watching just for them….they are the cutest thing ever! I also hope that RaRa can get some love soon because the character is so loveable and the actress who plays her is acting the hell out of it!

Just watched the Man Who Can’t Get Married – korean version – this past weekend and loved it! I didn’t see the japanese version, so I guess I wasn’t spoiled by seeing the original and then seeing a supposedly less stellar remake. It was refreshing to watch a drama without villains thwarting the leads and the actors and actresses were all lovable. My only gripes are 1. it lasted a bit too long – the last half dragged just a smidgeon and 2. i wished that I felt more of an emotional connection with the characters. However, the drama has enough laughs and charm to make me not care too much.
I was wondering whether I should watch this. I’ll add it to my [frighteningly long] queue
I LOVED “The Women Who Would Marry” as much as GF & JB. It really hits all the right reality buttons – you might want to read the recaps for it here – the ladies really added to the enjoyment of viewing this.

Oh I’ve watched and read TWWSWTM, and am in the midst of a re-watch. I was interested in the “sequel” b/c I was looking up what Kim So Eun had done post-Boys Over Flowers, and so I cam across The Man Who Can’t Get Married. But then I saw the not great reviews and put it waaaaaay back on the list. Like way down.
Somehow I missed the latter half of your comment *headdesk* Ironically, watching TWWSTM made me feel like the older noona, never to find true love in my “old age” which is still kinda far from the ages of the women in the show.
I loved Man who cant get married too…I know a lot of folks didnt like it cuz it was a directly based on the Jap version but since I didnt watch that one saw I was able to enjoy the kimchified version without any comparisons…my one issue was Ji Jin Hee overacting in certain parts though I loved his character…I really miss Kim So Eun and wish she would pick up a new project soon

Finally: Dokko Jin, you’ve won me over. Although I will say, Pil-Joo is awesome and probably one of the best second leads I’ve seen in a Hong Sisters drama in a while. I never thought that Go Mi-Nam would go for Shinwoo or that Mi-ho would go for that doctor but I think I will be a little heartbroken here.

This is my first posting ever. But my three year anniversary with Korean drama just passed in May. And you know how we got introduced by none other then yeah you guessed it (Stephen Colbert). It was the day Rain appeared. I was so mesmerized by Rain that I went to go look him up. So the first thing I ever saw was the Full House clip when Han Ji Eun sang the mama bear papa bear and song it was pure love since then. I remember feeling sad because I was like “Oh I wish I knew what they were saying and then “Ding Dong” eng subs WHAT!!( Pulse rate is no longer 60-90 Range) I think I watched half the serious that night.
Since then I have watched TW Dramas and Japanese Dramas but I have to say K Drama holds a special place in my heart because it was around the same time that I was being led by the LORD to be a screenwriter, so I really get inspired by Asian drama take even take notes about things that I like whether it be plot lines or strong character
But anyways was just wondering what was your first K Drama experience?

I used to tutor Korean students in English and one day, I had a student who was so distracted by BOF. She just wouldn’t focus and kept checking her phone. So I decided to have her write the subs for each episode as a way to teach English. The problem with that was that I had to check it by watching the show–and by episode 9, I was hooked. On the other hand, Kdramas turn out to be an excellent way to teach English!

Ahh.. I remember my first Kdrama Experience like it was yesterday. It felt like my first love. All thanks to a gem of a drama called Delightful Girl Chun Hyang. I was still in college that time so I practiced excruciating restraint to watch only ONE(!) episode daily. I watched more than 50 dramas since then, but in the spirit of loyalty, I re-watch DGCH every six months. They say you can’t forget your first love. They aren’t lying!

I saw rain on biscuit packet at the supermarket this weekend. I think rain looks like a frog when he is without guyliner and sexy dancing.
My first k-drama was a melodrama loving you a thousand times. While I flipping through the channels an episode was airing and it caught my interest because the wicked stepsister was actually a wicked stepsister. Fortunately, Lee Soo Kyung is a comedic actress and while I was waiting for new episodes of her melodrama I watched her funny ones and then I watched the dramas of the leads in each of her dramas and the leads from those dramas until I was watching dramas at work and trying to convert everyone to dramas and finally finding this blog.

I was always interested in Manga and then got into Taiwanese live action versions of manga.
Then knew Boys over Flowers was famous and that a drama was coming out soon and decided to watch it. Fell completely in love (particularly with Kim Bum
)and watch it on the bus on my tiny ipod screen on the way to school with my friend…
I got so obsessed by the end I was watching them without subs… lol.
Also got my Mother obsessed (and she in turn her friend) who both marathoned Boys over flowers in a weekend (a feat even I probably couldn’t do…)!

Hey I just celebrated my 1 year anniversary/obsession with K-dramas and I blame hulu.
Rather I blame Kim Nam Gil aguek and his fine sexy self in Bad Guy although after the final two episodes I wanted my 17 hours back.
Anyhoo I ended up watching Queen Seon Deok with non other KNG and I have been in the Saguek train since then.
I have watched a few modern ones e.g. you’re beautiful, sign but I just love sagueks for some reason
Currently watching Emperor Wang Guhn (200 episodes seems long but you get pulled into the story) and King Geunchogo.
king geunchogo was my first official saeguk but I’ve given up watching and reading the subtitles instead.
You should try Gyebaek coming after Ripley starring Lee Seo Ji. I think it will be pretty be awesome coz he is a good actor and they have good writers unlike *ahem* KG.
Or you could watch EWG. It is really good and you can watch at your own pace
I think that kg was written well but they had trouble logically transitioning the women and creating conflict. I don’t know if I’ll watch another true sageuk. I want to watch seoul 1945 and maybe I’ll watch queen seon deuk or Jumong. MAYBE.

Hulu was what first started me on kdramas too!
I live in Iran and our national TV showed Dea Jang Geum, one episode a week, so 54 episodes took a loooong time!! then I didn’t know I could find it off the internet, and because it was dubbed I didn’t concentrate on it being korean. I also saw The Book of Three Han: The Chapter of Jumong, the same way. after that they showed a few others(and they still do), oh yeh and I saw Thank you too(really loved). about a year and a half after that when a friend found out I liked them she suggested I watch Phoenix( which was the drama she was watching in korean with eng subs). so I gave it a try and liked it, so I watched it again with my mom, by the time it was over, another of my friends who had also got the drama from that friend said she had found a really lovely drama on the internet (BOF). I wasn’t sure at first, but when I started I knew it was over, I think I watched it three times within the time span of a month, twice myself and then once with my mom:)
since then me and my friends have got a whole lot of people addicted in collage, it’s like an epidemic, and it only takes one drama to get them hooked!!
my exams finish in a month, and I have already arranged on a date to exchange dramas with my friends, I can’t wait!!! ^___^
My first KDrama was a movie, which was sadly remade for the US audience. It never lived up to the original.
I fell in love with the cinematography and the solitude of “Il Mare” and have been hooked on Korean movies since. Now TV drama’s my first KDrama was BOF! I know… thank my daughter for that!
Technically the first k-drama I watched with any regularity was “As High as the Sky, Wide as Earth.” I had no idea that there were daily dramas so I missed most of it week to week, and to this day can’t tell you what the overall plot was about without checking with DramaWiki first. But it was the first k-drama I tried to watch on the regular, and the first on that had me hunting down more info on dramas in general.
However, I don’t credit that for getting me interested in dramas. The seeds were sown by a HK-drama called Monkey Goes West which was made many, many years before I was born and shown on PBS. I still love Monkey, as I have always called it, dearly. It blended dramatic shenanigans, fantasy, mythology, costumes to make any child glad and a storyline that I could both follow and get with. Who knew that so many years later the seeds of Monkey would flourish into a k-drama addict!

He said his best friend was his wife.

anyone here been keeping up with dae sung’s accident on tue? my condolences to the family, and RIP Hyun, but I can’t help but feel sympathetic towards what Daesung himself must be going through. his interviews have always shown him to be a sensitive and sweet guy. I hope he’s able to stay strong despite the anti-fans.
I pity him! These sort of tragedies will only make or break a man. And I sincerely hope he’ll pull through. This reminds of Lee Min Ki (Dalja’s Spring) when he got into an accident. His career suffered greatly. I’m not a big fan of Big Bang, but Dae Sung is such a nice guy in Family Outing.

Having said that Daesung is definitely going to suffer so much.

it’s really such a sad situation for everyone involved. this was actually the first time i really shed tears for a celebrity. daesung just genuinely seems like someone with a very good heart and it pains me to see what he’s going through right now. he will probably feel guilt his whole life, and that’s one hell of a burden. i just hate the heartless k-netizens. they are a scary bunch and have pushed so many celebrities to the edge of a cliff. i just hope daesung feels enough love to keep himself from suicidal thoughts. my heart also goes out for Hyun and his family. he was so young. i really hope they catch that bastard who left him there to die.
I have been paying very close attention, and I’m a little upset with the victim’s family at this point. When everyone was thinking that Daesung was going to hurt himself over this, they were all understanding and patient and claiming that they supported him, and then once he apologized to them they were suddenly hurt that he didn’t apologize sooner and they don’t like him now?
I felt very bad for the family when it happened, and now I feel like they’re just trying to milk it.
Wait… I guess that I am not totally up on the latest news. I thought there was a witness, a cab driver who said that he saw the victim had already been in an accident and lying on the road, bleeding profusely before Dae-sung accidently hit him with the car?
It was my understanding that they were now trying to find out whether or not he was already dead before Dae-sung hit him.

Why is the older generation in kdramas always played by the same 6 actors?? Every mom, evbery dad, every older politician or corporation CEO… seriously, it’s getting to me, even though I really like some of these actors. But I just want some fresh faces every once in a while!
think old hollywood “the bachelor and the bobby soxer” Myrna Loy is clearly the MOM but because her wattage is still pretty high she’s the Aunt. It’s the same thing, no one wants to be the old until they have to be and some of them are just great at that kind of character. Character actors are necessary. Think Thelma Ritter and Choi Jae Hwan. I am going to become Choi Jae Hwan fanatic by the way. He’s a dear.
Well, they use them because they are good at what they do, and because they are available.
These actors don’t have very large roles in most of the shows, and compared to US TV series, the series don’t last very long.
If they do one Kdrama, it may only be 8 weeks of work.
So, if they want to be a “full time” actor, they have to do multiple dramas all year long.
I actually like seeing them again and again, and comparing them to their other roles.
one of my favorites is the haraboji characters played by Byun Hee Bong. I love the way he speaks.
Well, yes, they are good – at least some of them; and sure, if I were them I’d take as much work as I could get, too. But, take Choi Jung Woo, whom I really like. He’s a great warm dad and also a great cold dad, but now I’ve seen him as everyone’s father in close succession, and suddenly he’s a corrupt politician too…
Exactly the same is going on with Chun Ho Jin. In the same drama even.
And if *anyone* has a grandmother, any bets it’ll be Kim Young Ok.
I really wouldn’t mind seeing these people occasionally, but it’s a bit too extreme as it is, and there have to be more older actors than this in Korea. Shouldn’t they get the chance to make a living too?
Kim Young Ok does play haimo a lot! I think they take turns each year. For instance, in 2009 you couldn’t watch one drama without seeing chun ho jin but before that he hadn’t been in a drama since 2007.

So, I haven’t watched the latest Best Love episodes, because the subs haven’t come out yet, so I’m being forced to cover my eyes from your wonderful comments in fear of being spoiled.
However, I was at work the other day thinking about BL (when I should have been working), and as much as the drama has ruined me for other shows, I’m still not in love with the name. So I started coming up with names that would better fit the show (don’t laugh at me! lol). So i guess my question is, if you could come up with a different name for the show, what would it be?

I liked Jab we met too… when it released, it brought this fresh wave of cinema, that we hadn’t even seen before. Maybe it was the fact that they kissed, maybe it was all the swearing, but it brought around a whole new era in Bollywood. Cinema’s been a lot more fun ever since.

My favourite film of his was Kal Ho Na Ho…usually I skip past the song (we can all appreciate why) but the soundtrack to that was epic!
I loved Shah Rukh Kahn in Veer-Zaara. I really, really liked that movie. Don’t know why, it’s not a comedy.

Hi MJP! Actually, Veer-Zaara is my favorite SRK film (of the dozen that I’ve seen). I have a few friends who are SRK fans but none of them really got into V-Z, hence my surprise in stumbling on some V-Z love here. However, the SRK film that I’ve watched the most often is Kal Ho Naa Ho because my 14 yr old niece (whose room is plastered with SRK posters) and I have a tradition of watching it and singing some of the songs together (those songs comprise over 90% of the Hindi that I know!).

Yeah, I really liked Veer-Zaara, because it was a challenge (emotionally) to watch. My heartstrings were really pulled into their (Zaara Haayat Khan and Veer Pratap Singh) plight of love and loss, suffering and lonliness, perseverance in the face of life without each other, then the renewal of hope and love once again. A very emotional movie.
I don’t think I have seen your favorite. I will check the library online to see if I can order it. Who knows maybe it is online somewhere with English subs? It will be fun searching for it!
MJP~ I just checked, and myasiancinema (dotcom) has Kal Ho Naa Ho w/subs if you want to download it. Just to clarify, it’s my niece’s favorite, not mine, but it’s my favorite to sing along with. In case you’re still recovering from 49 Days, know that KHNH is of the cheesy tearjerker variety– “Kal Ho Naa Ho” translates to something like “Tomorrow May Never Come” (hint hint).

I gotta admit I that I rarely get to Bollywood (or Hollywood, for that matter) these days, now that I’ve moved to K-Dramaland. I tried to lure my niece to K-Dramaland by showing her some MNIKSS toilet humor, but, alas!… she only has eyes for Shah Rukh. Maybe I’ll try again using the PANTYMAN as bait– I think she’d love him!
Today was my last day of classes. Next week is finals week. Only thing I hate about being in quarters is that we end so late. Excited to go back home to FL soon

Okay, so I just psyched myself up big time to greet the ahjumma at the deli when I went to get lunch…only to be thwarted by some random ahjussi standing at the counter! Or, really, thwarted by my own cowardliness and his very strong “Hi!” Plus Mrs. Yee wasn’t paying me the least bit of mind. Argh. I figured it was her son or something, although I’ve seen her son and he didn’t look like him. I digress.
Anywho, I order a sandwich from the spanish guy (who I could have greeted in my limited spanish, and I thought about it, but I was already thwarted), and went back to get a seltzer, all the while mentally kicking random ahjussi and wondering who the heck he is. I go back up front, comfort myself w/cookies, and wait for Mrs. Yee, the ahjussi, and a grandpa to finish their Korean conversation which basically rolled out that Ahjussi was new and introducing himself! I got thwarted by a stranger! (and my cowardliness, and now I’ve got Editor Song in my head telling me not to give power/permission to ppl to put me down…oh the k-drama)
So they’re all smiles. Ahjussi leaves, and Mrs. Yee notices me. Then she does a double-take b/c I haven’t been there all week (the funds, they have been low). She’s so up on a new neighbor and re-seeing me that she randomly slips into Korean when telling me thanks for my purchase and so decides to teaches me how to say it. So I got to speak Korean after all! I walked back to work as one big restrained grin!
And that is all. Coherent post later

Yes Viola it is armour fire resistant…in fact it’s just two crazy evil scientist discoveries away from nuclear bomb resistant. I had it specially made for when I had to engage in T.O.P. protection duty (which is annoyingly more often than you would think, fangirls out there are getting smarter and smarter and as you said the oppa-pout-wiggle can only carry you through so many unexplained bodies and mysterious disappearances). To brookeeve….because I respect you so much, the idea of letting you have him on this site even though me and him have been going strong for about three years now is hovering hopefully at the periphery of my choi seung hyun addled brain. I shall get back to you once I figure out whether I can honestly let this one go

Since people are interested in CSW and his adult son, This was what I READ about CSW long long time ago. He was a model when he was in high school. His wife, then college girl, saw him and had crush on him. According to her, she was so madly in love with him, she saw his face in every where – even in the (food) plate. But her family rejected to their relationship (because he is too young and stuff) and eventually one point of time she decided to give up. And then CSW wanted to push the relationship, so they started to live together. Only after his wife had their first child (after a few years), they were forgiven and accepted by her family. Sorry if someone said this already. Like I say, real life is sometimes more dramatic than a drama.

Now someone mentioned on OT a few weeks back said son is in New York.
