Good day.

-Cried over Can you Hear my Heart, lightning caused my Main computer's power button to not work anymore (goodbye all of my songs... too bad I'm not tech savy; anyone with this issue ever? I have a Dell Studio XPS 435), found my old school FTTS CD, preparing for a friend's wedding...

I guess that ~they~ say is right, life has it's ups and lows :D

What's up peeps!

Question for CYHMH viewers:

-How are you taking JH/MR's scaryness? Just going with the flow or is it ruining your fantasies of brotherly romance as it did with me?

I think MR is broken because he cares about D, but he is hurting so much because of all those crazy parents they have.
I allways have this feeling that at the end MR will end up dying. I hope I'm wrong

***** Can You Hear My Heart Spoiler Alert*****

Oh, JH/MR is making me too sad! Although with Episode 24 he shows he still cares when he panics on the telephone. Unfortunately, he gets angry again when DG's Mom says that she is calling him because he is DG's doctor and then he hangs up in anger. But he does go to the hopsital to see him because what he has done to DG is eating at him.

I read what DG says at the end of Episode 24 in the preview for Episode 25... And because of what I read, I have hope. I won't say anymore, but I do have hope.

I hope that DG and JH/MR need to reconcile and put an end to the crazy parents issues. Of course, if that happened, where would the show's tension be. We still have six more episodes to go, so I am prepared for a tension roller-coaster ride.

Finally a big, huge thank you to all the English subbers who worked really, really hard to get CYHMH subbed so quickly this week!!!!! I was happily surprised to be able to watch it in subs on Wednesday the 22nd instead of today Friday the 24th!!!

Poor JH/MR! The lonely instant rice scene made me so sad for him. Poor guy is all messed up. I have hope that he comes around and realizes that his "dad" really loves him and accepts his disability. I really really like this drama. DJ and WR are so cute together.

Alvina,

Your data may not be lost. Power supplies usually have built in protection to blow a fuse in the event of a surge to prevent damage to other parts of the PC (computer).

One thing you can check is if there is a black switch on the back of the PC where the power cord plugs in to it. You may just need to flip this switch and then try the power button again. Another possibility is that the fuse blew in your surge protector (power strip) if you had the computer plugged in to one. Power strips usually have indicator lights that come on if a power sureg blows the fuse. If you are not sure, you can plug a lamp or something into the strip to see if it is still working. If you did not have your PC plugged in to a power strip, I would recommend that you do this in the future.

Lastly, if you had no power strip and there is no little black switch on the back of the PC, your power supply unit (PSU) may be dead. If this is so, you can try replacing the power supply before giving up hope on the PC. You can find replacement power supplies online for under $100 that should meet your needs. Please see below for a link to the service manual for your PC:

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/435MT/en/SM/index.htm

Don't be scared to try and replace this part yourself, you just need to exercise caution when touching the internal components to prevent ESD (electrostatic discarge) from damaging the PC. We generate electricity naturally (like when you walk accross the room and touch a metal door knob and get a shock), and it can hurt the PC. To prevent ESD, just touch a piece of the metal frame of the PC before touching any PC components. The service manual should have instructions.

If all else fails, and you cannot get the PC to start even witha new PSU, you can remove the hard drive and place it as an extra drive in a different PC, which should give you access to the data at least. If you have a friend with a PC, you can maybe take the drive out and place it in their PC as an extra drive to try and access the data.

Hope this helps!

Hope this helps!

Thanks for coming to the rescue "MJP's Hubby"! :D
I never had the need to learn the mechanics of computers when I was living at home/dorm lol. Goes to show how scary necessary they are.

I'm thinking it has to do with the PSU, like you said... I'm pretty sure it's not as simple as a malfunctioning power button. If I cant figure it out though, I guess I'll just call tech support to replace some parts *shudders at fee*

Thanks for the help though!!!
~~~~~~
About JH/MR: I know I've said this on soompi, but he reminds me of a sad little Hamlet. His phone call did offer me that smattering of hope for his soul, however. And, his conversation with his "father" at the stairs was also very telling (OT- I will be very upset if Jung Bo Suk does not recieve an award for this role).
The detailing of all of the characters have highly impressed me though. Their personalities are not static and they dont seem to make (script-wise) irrational decisions.
Def. my favorite of this seasion... :D
I totally agree that many of the cast deserve awards for their performance.
CYHMH is definitely top 3 dramas this year if not #1, and there is still a lot of time left in 2011. That show is just so good...It's way up there on my all time best list too and the show is not even over yet!
The writers were so patient in building up Ma roo and that stellar bromance with Dong joo that now that Ma roo's such a bad guy I'm completely torn by all the bad things he does and then how bad and lonely he feels afterwards. Ma roo is one of the best most complex villains ever portrayed in a kdrama....I want him to turn around so badly >.< We'll see I guess...
CYHMH is also one of the longest kdramas I've watched (I'm 16-24 episodes kinda girl) while it's airing and it's completely worth it. I can't rave about this show enough, but I'll stop now. :)
i love bromance, but for me, i feel what JH gone through his life...sympathy for him, but he shouldn't hurting DJ, recent preview for episode 25, JH, really go all out, to destroy DJ mum's by destroying DJ...wooo..scary, JH feeling's for WR, surface, which i like, because, i like to see both DJ and JH, fight over a girl...i know..i know, i'm a fan girl..hehehehhe....
I actually would love to see Joon Ha and Dong Joo to somehow both get Woo Ri at the end(threesome?). For me, Woo Ri is the only the is really stopping him from going all out villian. Dong Joo and Woo Ri together are like a bundle of cute.
And I like jealous men. :D
I never liked Ma-roo anyways. To me he has always been a selfish bastard. I do think he will reconcile with Dong-joo at some point though. He was concerned after he found out about his accident and is just trying to hide/deny that he still has feelings for the guy. The mother is the one he really wants to destroy anyways.
I like scary/angry Ma-roo actually better than passive, surrogate mommy obsessed Ma-roo.
My first post on this site, and its a technical one :). Anyway assuming there is no damage to your hard drive it is removable and install able. that is to say you can pull it out of your broken computer and install it on a working one. another possibility is that the problem with your computer is restricted to it's power supply so simply replacing it will fix your computer, fortunately power supplies are cheap 40 to 50 dollars if you want to go this route you i would suggest going to the dell website and looking for it in replacement parts. End technical discussion, love this site love this community happy Friday everyone.
Ma-Roo was a bastard to begin with. Even though it killed him, he's still someone who abandoned his family. My mum and I are totally into this drama and she's of the opinion that he's pretending to hate Dong-Joo to save him in the end. But I think that his hate for Tae-Sook (sp?) is far greater than his love for Dong-Joo, and that guy will go to the depths of hell to make her suffer.
This drama is definitely my favourite so far for 2011.
I kno this isn't really the forum for it but I want to talk about taiwanese dramas for a sec. Drunken to love you, awesome. It flows well and isnt predictable. Hayate butler, what was the point of casting her if you were just going to make out to be a cartoon character. Mei le go, I love this pairing. Mike He playing the same role he always plays but it works. Going to try Material Queen next. Any thoughts
I'm loving Drunken to Love You, my only current TW-drama. Rainie Yang has improved so much as an actress, I am amazed. Script is good, chemistry is there .... waiting to see how they wrap it up.
Required fields are marked *
Second that. Rainie has improved so much with her acting that I'm basically jaw-dropped during the first episode of DLTY.
And Joseph is my new found gem. I'm so gonna dig out his movies and watch.
The relationship between Jie Xiu and Xiao Ru are so realistic and cute that I can never have enough. IMO, it's so much better than Fated to Love You.
Joseph reminds me of Will Pan (I think I have the name right) in Miss No Good with Rainie. Not necessarily his looks, but his mannerisms. I'm worried its a mark of their skill, but loving them just the same.
I am watching the following Taiwan dramas:
Drunken to Love you (Rainie Yang and Joseph Chang)
Love Keeps Going (Mike He and Cyndi Wang)
Hayate the Combat Butler (Park Shin Ye and George Hu)
Material Queen (Vaness Wu and Lynn Hung)
So far I like all of them. Material Queen seems to be a good premise. The beginning started off a bit slow in spots, but they were building the framwork for the show, so I didn't mind too much. If it continues to drag in future episodes that will be annoying to me because I have very little patience and tend to skip forward.
Well, it's not a matter of patience, but of a toddler who needs my attention. It's pretty time consuming to greet everyone individually. Today I am in the playroom reading stories, building train tracks and towns and ramps. I want to spend more time with the toddler communicating, so I had to drop something. I don't want to continually put him in front of the computer to watch cartoons all day. I want to spend time with him because I love him.
I caught the first episode of Material Queen and it's intriguing. I like the way its a bit whimsical. The music is really good so I want the OST.
I've been keeping up with Who's the One too, which I recommend. Johnny Lu and Leroy Young are both so cute and the heroine is so relatable. The OTP is really sweet.
So far so good. The girl had to spend some years behind bar for trying to sell fake jewelery to finance her wedding. Her boy friend got away while she took all the blame for him.
The lead guy is a second son in the biggest jewelery co and is proposing to his girl friend in the same resto where the lead girl is trying to con her latest victim.
That's where they first met. He got rejected because his girl goes for someone better than him (his big brother) while the lead girl got captured and sent to prison because her escape was hampered by him.
This is sounds heavy but the drama is actually very cute, light and funny. I love when the two lead together. They are so cute.
It's so good watching a drama where a) the main characters aren't idiots b) the second leads aren't just plot devices and c) villains (or daddies) are hella scary, instead of just being tools. Oh, and d) the main characters aren't doing the whole I-love-you-but-I'm-not-admitting-it-and-you-aren't-admitting-you-like-me-too-so-let's-just-go-around-in-circles-for-half-the-drama thing.
I also love how awesome the girls in this drama are. Saehee is great, and Nana is slowly getting there in the brains department. And Daddy is just so Badass. In the best, freakiest, jump-in-your-seat-when-he-appears way. Lee Min Ho is clearly the highlight though; *sigh. I don't know how he manages to package cool, vulnerable, heartbreaking and charisma in such a hot character.
Nana's conversation with Yoon-sung over coffee in Ep. 10 just about killed me. She said exactly what I've been yelling at so many k-drama heroines to say. Love her maturity in these last few episodes--and, yes, her brains!
Also, if Young-ju and Sae-hee are my favorite second lead pairing ever (they TOTALLY still have a thing for each other, he just needs to get a handle on that work-life balance he boasted about earlier), then Ki Joon and Eun-ah are the best third pairing, bar none. Her confidence and assertiveness on the judo mat (totally stalking Ki Joon, rawr!) are so sexy!
@ Melonhead I agree all the characters in CH have a purpose of being, and are not there just as doormat like in so many kdramas lately.
I think finally we are getting to see and feel who Nana is, I was worry at first that writers were not going to develop her character enough, but boy they sure did in ep 9 and 10. I love her maturity level, her confidence when she talks to YS, I love that sees through his BS, and I love love that she knows who YS is, and the girl is smart.
Hi! Here's something that I found interesting over at Soompi's site. At the end of his recap for ep.10 he includes a YouTube of Jet Li doing the "dropping down the building using just my hands" stunt - totally where CH got it from.
Our LMH looks totally cooler/hotter doing it, though.....
I too have been looking for news about this, and haven't found much.. I read on Dramacrazy that it would come out this summer - but no cast have been announced yet!?? On the other hand, I've found quite a bit on the Japanese Hana Kimi re-make, as well as the You're Beautiful re-make - Ikemen desu ne.
I know, it's so weird. The first one was really good too, so this one has to be even better. It seems to be just another vehicle for the star who's a member of AKB48, one of Japan's top girl groups.
And to be honest, I highly highly doubt anybody can do Nakatsu better than Ikuta Toma. He's the best part of the entire show.
AnitaLotti,
I'm a bit hesitant with my expectations because, well, to me the Japanese dramas are so lacking many times in the romantic lingo, physical touch area when compared to Korean dramas. Plus, they have such short attention spans that I don't know how they will squeeze everything into 10 episodes.
they always seem to end the dramas just when they're getting good.
that's so true. Japanese dramas take about 10 episodes before the first hug, and then we don't get a kiss AT ALL. it's frustrating, and actually quite telling of their culture.
Charm,
Hello! I think most of it is censorship. If you watch some of their movies... Just like the U.S.A. movies. Also, the anime is very, very graphic at times. Hence, I am not an anime watcher.
0
Well, the Japanese can produce a good drama though most of the really good stuff is a bit older. Hana Yori Dango, Pride, Kamisama mou..., Nobuta wo produce, With Love and Buzzer Beat to name just a few have been rewatched by me countless times. With a "literary/visual" guideline they should be able to do it.
Is Nobuta Wo Produce good? They keep adverting it on dramacrazy, but my only interest in it has been b/c the same guy from Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge is in it.
CMR,
It's a high school buddies show. It produced a song that lasted on the music charts for 65 weeks.
Cmrprindle,
Nobuta Wo Produce is one of my favorite dramas. If coming-of-age theme is your thing, then you might like it?
I love jdramas. I follow kdramas more because of this website (haha) but most of my super favorite dramas are japanese ones, ie Orange Days, Long Vacation, Kekkon Dekinai Otoko, and Nodame Cantabile.
I'm going to try City Hunter once again this weekend starting with episodes 9 and 10. I think because of all the great reviews, my expectation was really high and therefore, when I watched it, I was not impressed and a bit disappointed.
I think I'll end up watching Heartstrings when it premiers next week though...
I enjoyed the ride with Greatest Love. What a smart drama with fabulous leads!
I think with the May drama glut that turned into the June thrill ride for me, City Hunter's over-the-top praise just hit at the wrong time ... it's is a good drama, it's just not a great drama.
The over-the-top praise for City Hunter is too much. I find myself visiting the comments less after reading the recaps from GF ,even she is in love with this drama as well. It is entertaining, certainly not great or perfect.There are some welldone scenes from the cast,good ost ,great cinematography,but you need a lot of suspension of disbelief.
Required fields are marked *
The reason why CH is what it is, is because it was based on a manga (although very, very loosely), so realism is less important than plot and character. Besides, the show's set in some alternate reality Korea, so it's best to just go with it and enjoy the ride.
It's also a good mix of rom-com and thriller, so for me, who's more of a rom-com person, it's easy for me to make the transition to thriller through City Hunter than through the other more intense shows like Iris or Athena.
0
haha
amen to that. any other show is not good enough anymore, either that or i dont want to be watching any other romcom so that BL will remain to be my fave forever. lol!
ive been reading CH recaps here though, it looks action packed and the OTP have good chemistry doesn't hurt that they're easy on the eyes either.keke.. might check it out once the drama ends :)
I watched just the 1st episode of City Hunter and because Best Love continued to capture my heart. When I first watched Best Love , I have to say from the 1st episode I was hooked! I never ever feel that way for drama even Coffee Prince or City Hall. And these are my favourites. I agree with you when you say either other shows are not good enough or dont want to watch as I am having serious withdrawal symptoms from Best Love! It is just EPIC in every way. Its Quality all over and never before has every episode been so cohesively beautiful, funny, tug at your heart sad, on the edge of your seat anxious and happy... yes I have clapped many times on this drama... Just LOVE IT TO BITS...
Ask me again in a couple of weeks which drama I will be watching? maybe then I can answer but one thing is for sure I am permanently Dokkofied. I dont think I can ever find a leading man who made my heart go duguen duguen quite like Dokko Jin... EVER AGAIN!!! He is just so well written, well acted and one hell of a special character!!!
I just saw the first episode and it didn't have the depth that I thought it did have, but it was still more satisfying than athena. I think the reason has to do with the music, which lightens the dark characters and situations. I really like kim mi sook, lee joon hyuk and chun ho jin so I'm watching to watch them.
When I started CH, I loved epi 1 and got stuck midway on epi 2 when he entered the BL as a MIT guy and wondered why? I forged ahead and have not looked back since. It's truly remarkable. I was unfamiliar with both LMH and PMY so this is my first drama with them. The only actor known is the SH character and that is because I watched some of "Sign" until the female medical doctor went on a plane of existence I cared not to follow.
I love, love GL. I'm waiting to finish GL this weekend. Not ready to let it go.... :( I get teary eyed just thinking about ending the drama.
I agree a bit about all the hoopla over CH...
When it first started airing, I decided to read the recaps first and watch later (cos I had room for only one crazy drama addiction at a time and Best Love was IT :-))
so I think it must have upped my expectations too much...
it was like reading a superb book and then being let-down over its adaptation..
the action scenes are well done and plotting is tight, but somehow the romance, cute parts or the epicness of the OTP don't really grab me...
(it's Harry Potter all over again, huhu... hmmm... 15th July can't come fast enough, though, hehe)
even the life or death stakes in this drama aren't so dire 'cos yeah there's no way the CityHunter's going to die especially if this is to be set up as a prequel to the original manga series... I'd worry more about NaNa living till the end or not :-(
Anyways, I blame GF entirely :-P for me not enjoying this series as much as most people are... for me, the drama itself couldn't live up to her delightful recaps and infectious enthusiasm, heh...
But since everyone's been gushing about ep 10, maybe it'll change my opinion :-|
I had just finished watching the french romantic comedy movie, Heartbreaker. It's about a man, Alex, whose occupation is to break up relationships where one party is "unknowingly unhappily". So one day he is hired by a rich dude to break up his daughter, Juliette's, upcoming wedding. He poses as her driver/bodyguard. And then you know, Alex and Julilette, fall in love. Unlike the usual rom-com, it's more leisurely paced, which is why I liked it. And unlike recent American rom-coms, the female lead here does NOT make me cringe.
I am so utterly addicted to city hunter, i watched the last 2 eps with a live streaming.. i didn't understand a word they were saying but i just couldn't wait for the subs to come out. who would have thought the drama would have turned out so good? I have hopeful that it would be good but its turning into probably one of my favourite dramas.
But whilst i wait painstakingly every wednesday and thursday, i'm watching other dramas. I tried watching conspiracy of the court the other day and although thundie raved about it.. it just didn't click with me :(
anyhows i wanted to ask for drama recommendations? something within the 20 ep zone, something with a good plot, nice eye candy and addictive features.
Coffee Prince (2007), with Gong Yoo and Yoon Eun Hye aired earlier than Coffee House (2010), which had Kang Ji Hwan, Park Shi-Yeon, and Ham Eun Jung.
Coffee Prince belongs to my Top 5 kdramas and the OTP was just great. I love KJH but never got fully invested in Coffee House, I think partly because I could not warm up to Park Shi-Yeon (if you recall she appeared cameo in BL, the one who was first eliminated in the Couple Making show). My reaction to CH was kind of strange. I was actively resisting the OTP and from the start even to the latter half of the drama where it was clear who the OTP was going to be, I still kept hoping KJH's character would fall for his secretary, played by HEJ (who was Suzy's frenemy in Dream High).
Coffee Prince highly recommended. You'll see why GF is ready to fight tooth and nail for Gong Yoo. :)
nothing rly ever happened bet the OTP there, but i loved that series. i think the focus rly was about pasta - the cuisine and the ins and outs of the culinary industry and what happens in the Kitchen (and out of it).
Good thing pasta is my favorite food)and have always been crazy abt Italy) or i would have been bored to death watching it, i think i could cook vongole and aglio olio with my eyes closed now after watching that series..i have learned fr that that the secret to cooking pasta are the broth and the endless pan-shaking ergo a rly strong wrist. so geeky i know..heehee
I enjoyed it so much, no evil 2nd leads, cute Italian team chefs and chemistry between GHJ and LSG was awesome, pity they didnt use it to its full potential. after that i went crazy looking up past dramas/movies of LSG and GHJ. lol! LSG i snot goodlooking but gawd he is hot!
TGIF!!!! hope everyone has a nice weekend!!.....
BL was from beginning to end the romcom to beat this year, hands down the best. The Hong Sisters are the queens of romcom, their style of writing and mettas is what gets me all the time. I don't know how they do it, but they sure have a gift. I love the end it suited the drama very well, and is the first ending that has left me super satify with all my dear characters living happily ever after.
@De...you will LOVE ep 10 of CH....is just amazing!!!!
Guys CH ep 9 and 10 are available on Viki and fully sub...
SPOILERS FOR BL ALERT!
First off: Gah! How sweet! The ending left me satisfied and smiling! (That's what she said)
But I was thinking about the pacing. I wonder if it would have worked better if the surgery had ended episode 12 and not 14. Then eps 13 and 14 could have been about the aftermath of the surgery and truly considering the reality of his possible confession. His declaration could have ended 14, and then the final two episodes could have dealt with the public response, since that was the main tension running throughout the show.
Oh well. Loved the ending anyways. My new favorite Hong Sisters drama.
END BL SPOILERS
PS. So in my wait for BL, I finally stumbled upon Soulmate (about 5 years after the fact). Oh man. I watched the whole thing over two days and am already re-watching it. And trying to find all of the music to download.
So is I Need Romance (which is also described in Sex-and-the-City-esque terms) a worthy successor or should I finally catch up on Miss Ripley?
Hi everyone...feeling good and free...one less drama to follow live now...BL has ended nicely...so one less obsession....it's been so so tiring...May mayhem almost killed me...seriously salute JB nad GF...it's tiring just watching all these dramas , how they managed to recap them all is beyond me. Am planning to watch CH next but oh dear mixed reviews...I thought only good things on that show...and 20 epi in total...well I'm gonna wait it out then...and marathon it all later...
Right now am scouting for other dramas to watch....LTM still good?...it's gonna end next week so I don't have long to wait...but I'm rather hesitant abt the mixed reviews also...is there like a drama out there which is favoured by all!!!??
Exams are finally over!! yay! Now I can watch dramas without feeling guilty. lala~~
Ok, so, I started on Best Love at the beginning of the week and am up to ep 10 now and..um..what should I say...I really want to love it, but I don't. It's overall a solid drama with a wonderful cast, but, perhaps my expectations were too high, it's just not working for me.
I am more than half-way through the show already and I am still not sold on the romance between the OTP. I guess that's part of the problem. I mean Jin is hilarious (and freaking sexy) and I love watching his crazy antics, but he's also a jackass. There's just no way a girl would choose him as a love interest over Pil-joo. Speaking of Pil-joo, gawd I love him so much, he managed to make me swoon at everything he does and it pains me greatly that he's not going to get the girl.
I also feel a little conflicted about Ae-jung. I find her bland and am having difficulty connecting with her. On one hand, I sort of understand why she is the way she is and I do admire that she always tries to remain optimistic in spite of her situation. but on the other hand, I can't stand that she's always apologetic and helpless. sigh.
Despite all this, I do feel that I am enjoying it more by the episode, so yes, I will continue to watch on. :D
By the way, anyone watching Asuko March?? It's surprising addictive and I think I am enjoying it more than someone like my age should. But alas, I fell for the second-lead in this one too. it is a curse I tell ya!
I really thought about watching it, considering that Takei Emi is the lead and she was fan-freaking-tastic in Taisetsu...but... then I realized that with the JP Hana Kimi re-make, Ikemen desu ne, & Ouran High School Host Club coming out..that I probably shouldn't... Maybe I'll add it to my list to watch later, since you say it's good! :)
PET PEEVE: what annoys me so much is that when i watch korean dramas.. the pants on the guys are always so short! the frustration of watching the hem of their pants being a few centimetres too short of covering their ankles.. making me have to see this awkward piece of flesh that i would have been happier not to have seen.
ugh! why?? is this a korean fashion statement or something? Lee min ho is a particular actor that i notice this has happened too.. both in personal taste and in city hunter. OR is it because.. the socks aren't long enough to cover the space between the pant's hem and the shoe when they cross their legs?
Hi Linda! I've noticed this too and I know it is definitely a trend! At first it was to just fold/roll up the pant legs but now it's definitely to just crop it off a bit lol
0
Required fields are marked *
hahaha i noticed that with LMH in PT also but i actually liked his cropped pants/long blazer combo there.
it is actually a trend right after the skinny pants on guys..ive seen it in a lot of fashion blogs, mostly in europe.but only a few people can pull it off (read : models and actors like LMH and CSW) i found it kind of gay at first but it kinda grows on you.. :)
could be...
- to show off their ankles. (but why? of all body parts?)
- to be one with the sufferers of economic recession
- it's just the start. next stop: pedals for men ;) and to make way for the comeback of Gene Simmons shorts.
- it's an anti-low waist move.
OI! you're taking victorian up a notch aren't you! Incidentally, during Elizabethan times men went out of their way to show their ankles it was considered all the rave. Victorian times dictated that men must never see legs, going as far as covering table and chair legs. I like the exposed ankle, I just wish that they wore socks or shoes that look comfortable. Usually the shoes look like they will bruise the ankle. I don't like to see men in shorts though I always think the shoes and shorts are off. The shoes are either too fancy or busy or too casual.
The way he just sneaks in and out while just BARELY missing being seen is so cool! It definitely kept me on my toes the whole episode!
Also Kim Na Na: I must say I am finally warming up to her character :P I don't want to give anything away, but I love how she's proving how smart she can be! Glad she's not playing the standard Lois Lane at all!
I'm not watching City Hunter. I am drawn to the Tdramas as of late. But still watching some Kdramas too. I am thankful that the May madness is wrapping up soon! I am dropping the multiple day a week dramas like they were flies as I just can't keep up with them all.
I've dropped:
You're So Pretty
Romance Town (still following recaps)
Current Tdramas
Drunken to Love you
Love Keeps Going
Hayate the Combat Butler
Material Queen
I don't know if you've seen some of the oldies, but here is a list of others that I liked.
devil beside you
easy fortune/happy life
fated to love you
hi my sweetheart
it started with a kiss 1 and 2
love contract
love or bread
mars
my queen
summer x summer
sunny happiness
together
that love comes/welcome love
why why love
There are still loads more of Tdramas I haven't seen yet. But those were the ones I've seen that I liked. I won't list the ones I didn't like
0
bananabee,
Material Queen is the first time I've seen Vanness Wu acting. I had never heard of him before. He is a very good actor. Apparently he sings too. I learned this today. Also, the actress is very good to, I think. I really enjoyed the first episode this week.
Happy Friday/Saturday to EVERYONE!!!!!
Due to time constraints, I will not be individually greeting everyone today. But please know that I will be reading all your comments if it takes me all weekend!!! :-) I will be popping in and out.
However, I notice that it's a bit quiet on the Ricky the Royal Highness, Viola, tinpra(with a new handle), Jomo, etc. front!
Viola did such a good job greeting everyone last week, didn't she?
Finally to my dear, best friend Pipit... I found some good news and some bad news regarding Kim Rae Won... Apparently for some CRAZY reason, he will actually be in the military for the full 2 years. I read an article on Soompi last night stating that he won't be getting out until August 2011.
MJP unnie, you're not going to greet everyone? That's...that's earthshattering. Mindlblowing even! Or it could be that the sugar from lunch hasn't quite kicked in.
I agree that this week's OT is quiet and a few of the regulars are missing. Maybe we've all burned out from the last 2-3 weeks of super-mega-posting? And what time zone is HRH in anyway? I was looking forward to Jomo and Viola revealing the 1st full episode of Yobosaya (sp?). Maybe they're working on it, in true k-drama live format, and that's what's holding them up.
And is it strange for actors to do the full 2 years of service?
CMR,
You know your writings have inspired me to think about returning to writing. Nothing serious, but just thoughts. I think about making up stories "fanfic" if you will about the DB OT folks. But I find that I don't want to offend anyone. With so many different cultures, I am just not confident it trying to be funny.
So, know that you are my inspiration to dream big!
0
Omo! MJP unnie! *hugs* That would be awesome! Maybe start with small stories in DB OT-fandom, using ppl who don't mind being written about. It sounds like it could be lots of fun. And I rarely think my stuff is actually funny, just that they look like they should be. I'm always pleased when someone says they are.
*does a chair-dance-of-joy!*
0
MJP! I LOVE YOU!
Thanks so much for the news! I really appreciate it. I know how hard it is to find even a few second when you have a little darling around you. You're simply impressive!
And talking about your fanfic: I won't be offended if you have me in mind. Did you know about that thing between me and Okiedokie? She was upset with me when she found out that her Henney and me were stranded on a desserted island.
I was too afraid to face her that I had to hide in the now infamous bathroom. And probably will stay there indefinetely if Viola didn't have the spare key.
So you see, I'm completely fine if you want to spin another story about me.
That's what bestfriends are for. You can count me in in anything!
downloading the eps has worked so well for me! You're right about the patience factor, but once I've gotten something I can watch it at my liesure, go back, pause, never wait for buffering...play while doing my hair, upload to my MP3... In other words it's been fantastic. Glad I'm not alone. It is eating up my disk drive, though. I think it was Jomo who said she was considering getting another portable disk drive to store hers. A fab idea I say.
0
But with Dramastyle or Dramabean you get stuck searching for the rest of the program at the hosting website. They are notorious for only posting the first portion of the episode and not the rest. It teaches good researching skills for the drama obsessed though! :-)
0
I must say, dramacrazy is where I learned that I love Wat.tv, and how to navigate tuduo in all it's chinese-ness.
0
@cmrprindle: I have a dedicated disk drive for kdrama too. :D (what an addict, right?) gosh! these things, they take up disk space like ant colonies. Actually, my disk drive was used for anything and everything I want to store, including personal photos and videos, but then I realized that my files won't be safe with the constant plugging and unplugging of the device so I got separate drives for my files.
... and then I also burn the downloaded dramas into DVDs (just like what I do with my personal files) for backup. *sigh*
- the paranoid addict that is izzie. :)
0
izzie, didn't I say that you were wise in the ways of drama-addiction! Fantastic ideas all. The best I've done so far with my tiny collection is to store them on the hard drive temporarily while I'm watching them, then burn them to DVDs and delete the original (to free disk space) but this isn't working so well when I'm watching one thing and downloading 2 more! And I realized I could download a lot more w/o fear if I just, y'know, had a dedicated drive... Besides, I'd been wanting a new disk drive for my music and such.
0
Can you please go to am-addiction and get the links.
The weekend is just starting here and doing good so far. We are having quite a bit of rain, but nothing major to cause flooding. However, it is causing the vegetation to grow very rapidly and delays the pruning and weeding process. The toddler is enjoying the rain because he gets to splash in the puddles.
Of course, we are all fighting a bit of an intestinal bug, so that is not fun, but nothing major.
I think that samgetang and Ricky TRH are both in the same region. So it's pretty bad around there right now, huh?
and ricky... I hope he's safe too! and I hope we hear from him soon.
0
Samgetang, Hi!
I hope you have or had a good sleep! I am not 100% certain, but I have figured out from Ricky TRH posts that he is 12 hours ahead of me. I want to respect his privacy, so that is all I know or care to know. :-)
0
Got a good night's sleep, tnks MJP! How's the toddler? Hope the intestinal bug is now gone....
0
samgetang,
Glad to hear you've rested well. How is the storm? Is it still battering your area? What dramas are you planning to watch if you are still rained in?
The toddler and hubby are sleeping. The bug is currently beating my body up. Hubby who had it first is 100% recovered. Toddler so far only seemed to have one bout of it yesterday morning. I've got to go wake the boy up in a few minutes for his middle of the night potty run, then I can go to bed.
0
Hi izzie...glad to know you and your family are okay; the typhoon has been beating on us like there is no tomorrow.
I've been stuck at home for the last 3 days now. Been only out in the nearby mall for food supplies and the like. The floods are terrible...monster traffic jams. I hope no one gets hurt in all of these and everyone will be kept safe and warm especially those in low-lying/flooded areas.
Hope the weather clears up tomorrow or I wont be able to search/get the fabric supplies I need for my design prototypes. I'm so dead! Wahhh!
Good thing City Hunter is keeping me company for now!Its OST rocks. Lee Yun Song is being struck on all fronts. But Kim Nana is the coolest chick in kdramaland right now. Best Love's last episodes I have yet to watch. Cant believe it's over. Where do we turn now for our meta addiction? Meanwhile, Baby-faced Beauty is entering angst territory with the possibility of color-blindness striking LSY. Otoke? And there's a face-off between the president and Choi Jin Wook. Cute! CYHMH...maybe I will marathon when all the other dramas are over. Lie To Me? I had to drop the last several episodes...it looks like its going downhill fast...I hate to see it self-destruct.
Because of the lull I can now catch up on my reading and Korean lessons online. Check this out --http://www.busyatom.com -- the lessons are so cool!
I have to sleep now...
Oh it's endless rain up here. But we're good. :) I'll be back in the metro on Monday. I hope there will be no more floods, since that will only add to the heavy traffic that I'll have to battle on my everyday commute to work - with that road construction thing going on at q ave.
But with the rain now... hmm... I'm thinking: coffee/hot choco, toasted bread, blanket, and kdrama marathon. :) cheers!
My sis was supposed to go up north today but decided otherwise..heard the towns there are flooded, too. They said the typhoon is on its way out but there'll be non-stop rain for the next few days due to monsoon rains. It's gonna be a wet, wet weekend.
Enjoy your kdrama watching...try City Hunter...it's good! Reminds me of SKKS...and not just because of Park Min Young, hehe.
Ingat!
Salamat! :)
We're hoping for a better weather tomorrow too, since we will be returning to the city.
I'm doing a re-run of 49 Days with my aunt, and then started watching Lie To Me (since I've only managed to download 4 eps of City Hall before I left for vacation) with my Mom. My cousin's daughter also copied the kdramas that I downloaded and doesn't come out from her room much since then. I've pretty much spread the addiction here. :)
I'm watching City Hunter next. :)
Ingat din!
JB & GF had too many dramas to recap and decided to drop LTM. But they made threads so as not to leave the fans wanting. (Gotta love Santa.)
Hi Madola
DB & GF decided to drop it as they had too many shows to recap. To appease the fans, they made it an open thread and they write a weecap with their views on the show
Hi MJP,
I fell asleep watching it, can't remember which part. Can't believe I did that even with the makeout session. A sure sign to skip it.
New here to the OT. First time commenting on one :)
I'm not really much of a drama watcher. I tend to just read recaps or skip through a lot of parts because I like getting to the point. But hearing about so many good reviews on City Hunter, should I give it a try? Will there be any moments where I will be tempted to skip through?
I'm even thinking about skipping through the first episode because I don't usually fall in love with a drama on the first episode.
I know, I'm a drama non addict. Cure my syndrome? D:
I think you can skip through a lot of the first episode, but I don't think you should. In fact you can skip the whole episode and read the recap instead. The recap really makes the drama seem a lot more bombastic than it is. I'm not saying it's bad, it isn't, it isn't cute either. It had one of the best first episodes for the season.
I guess I forgot to mention that I have been reading all the recaps of City Hunter so I know what happens, but is this drama good enough that it won't make me wanna skip even though I know what happens?
Hi Drama Non-Addict,
I recommend that you don't skip any part of ep. 1 cause is jam pack with information that sets up the whole story going foward and believ me, if you are in to superhero genere you would love City Hunter.
0
Required fields are marked *
based on that criteria I say skip the first one. If you read the recap you already know the background information.
0
reply
Required fields are marked *
I think you should NOT skip the first episode of CH. the first episode actually has alot of background information that sets up the whole CH story.
And I agree, its one of the best first episodes of the season.
So has anyone else been growing their own potato plant because of Dokko Jin and his darling potato? *g*
I have to say, though - either potatoes in Korea are a whole lot prettier than elsewhere, or Dokko Jin has Magical Potato Powers. My potato is spiky, non-leafy and weird-looking and not at all the pretty green plant that Jin got!!
One of my aunties had a potato plant, and, if I remember right, it was fairly big and leafy. Maybe it depends on the size of your plant, or the variety of your potato.
I think it's just at the beginning - the buds are ugly as hell. (But don't tell it I said so, I don't want it to be self-conscious... *g*)
If they'd had the GL potato grow in like this, though, Dokko Jin might have been scared off, ;-) Heee, I should take a pic to show you guys...
Oh yeah...it just needs more time, love, and possibly more water. If I remember right, and this is a verrrrry old memory, it gets seriously viney
0
I'll plant it in a flowerpot in another couple of weeks, and see how it develops. :-) Maybe I should give it the full Jin treatment and first threaten it with a boiling pot of water, only to then coo at it and pet it lovingly. ;-)
0
I just watched Dokko Jin go on some tear during the first episode, and my first thought was "How does Sylvia's potato plant work into all of this?" lol!
0
hmm I think I have a potato plant too. I actually threw the sprouting potatoes into my raccoon farm ( also known as my backyard) and there is a large plant where I threw them. Is it too good to be true?
But take the right kind of pot to plant in - I was having a mental meltdown when I saw the what kind of size and form GAH used, please bear in mind that it will need some space for the roots!!!
Just read in Korean news that Im Joo-Hwan (Tamra the Island) is hospitalized in a military hospital. Apparently he fainted during basic training and they detected some heart problems, so he's still under observation. Hoping it's nothing serious!
