    Happy Friday!!! :)

Finally able to catch up with City Hunter. :)

    Raccoon eyes, I have. :(

    • 1.1 ahjummabunny

way to go izzie! raccoon eyes are something to be proud of in these parts! Happy Friday!

      • 1.1.1 izzie

        Bunny!!! :)

LOL! And then I go to work all sleepy and “floating.” I did the 14-episode marathon in just a few days that the City Hunter already appears in my dreams. I can’t remember any of the details though. :( *sigh*

        Eye luggage.

        • 1.1.1.1 ahjummabunny

lol. Don’t worry you’ll have sudden flashes of memory from time to time. I haven’t marathoned any drama recently. I’m soo envious!

          • 1.1.1.1.1 MJP

            Izzie! *HUGS*

I just did a two night marathon of Star No Koi. Now, I’m staying up late again to watch the first episode of the Japanese remake of “You’re Beautiful”. It’s called “Ikemen Desu Ne”.

I don’t have eye luggage, but eye redness and soreness.

          • 1.1.1.1.2 izzie

Aw, MJP! *hugs* Omo! Red and sore eyes are scarier than eye luggage! Please take care. We’ve got loads of kdramas to battle, still. :)

        • 1.1.1.2 malta

LMH in your dreams?!!! That sounds familiar! :D

          • 1.1.1.2.1 izzie

            :)

            I don’t remember much. But everything’s kind’a dark. ;)

        • 1.1.1.3 ricky the royal highness/wannabe kick-ass spy

I should ask for some royalty money whenever anyone else uses ‘eye luggage’. I gave birth to it, ya know. Hehe

          How are you, Izzie?
Were you aware that some scenes in Myung Wol The Spy was shot in Singapore?

          • 1.1.1.3.1 izzie

“I gave birth to it, ya know.”

            Was it a normal or a c section? :P

I’m doin’ great, RTRH. Thank you for asking. :) How about you?

I haven’t heard about that Myung Wol news before. BTW, I’m guessing, you’re might be having in mind the “other izzie” in here who lives in Singapore. (I got to DB first, by the way. Hehe.) I’m at the same rock as samgetang. ;)

          • 1.1.1.3.2 ricky the royal highness

            HAHA~

I gave birth to it via spore formation. Hehe :)

Okay so there’s actually TWO izzie’s? I’m sorry for mistaking you for her. I haven’t the slightest clue where samgetang’s rock is located though.

I went through a rough patch today but I’m hanging on.

          • 1.1.1.3.3 izzie

Well, it’s the humid rock with tons of zipping kamikaze jeepneys. ;) That’s where we are.

“I went through a rough patch today but I’m hanging on.”

Whatever it is, I pray that you go through unscathed. :)

          • 1.1.1.3.4 ricky the royal highness

Oh dear, I’m soo bad in Geography. I can’t possible figure that out.

I’m fine now. I thought things through and am trying out some new options.

          • 1.1.1.3.5 Jomo

            @ izzie

            There is only one izzie!
            How can there be two?

Jeepneys are in the Philippines, right?
I have been there and may go back!

          • 1.1.1.3.6 pohonphee

            @ izzie: Australia?

@ ricky: same with you, I thought there was only one Izzie and she/he is from Singapore.

This reminds me the dialog between Ani 1, Ani 2, and Ani 3 on one of comment section on DB. That’s just weird but funny.

          • 1.1.1.3.7 izzie

            @Jomo: Ding Dong! :)

Oh yeah, there’s another izzie in DB. Although, I’ve seen her in only one thread, and KDL mistook her for me and got confused reading that she’s from Singapore. I had to butt in the conversation to explain to KDL that it wasn’t me.

            @pohonphee: nope. it’s the Philippines. :)

“This reminds me the dialog between Ani 1, Ani 2, and Ani 3 on one of comment section on DB. That’s just weird but funny.”

I’ve been considering changing my handle into a unique one. But my heart can’t let go of this handle. So I remain izzie. :)

          • 1.1.1.3.8 ricky the royal highness

I read the conversation between the Ani’s. It was funny. Weird, but funny nonetheless.

If someone copies my name, I’ll either change my name or scare that person off. Haha.

Ahh.. the Philipines. Okie dokie :)

          • 1.1.1.3.9 Jomo

            @izzie and samgetang –
I stayed in Makati in July 2006 for work.
Biggest memory – I was there when HP 6 was released and read it straight through for 2 days in the hotel lobby!

One of the waiters who was chain feeding me coffee at the hotel kept asking how it was going, and told me “As soon as I get home I am reading it, too.”

          • 1.1.1.3.10 izzie

LOL@Jomo. I spotted 2 addictions there: HP and coffee. :) The knock-out combination.

Y’know there’s another good spot to do book reading in Metro Manila – poolside of Sofitel in Pasay City, facing Manila Bay. ;) Their waiters are also ever-spoiling to chain feed you with your fave beverage. Then you can watch the sunset at the bay later on.

July… that would be well in the rainy season. I hope our crazy weather didn’t put a dent on your stay. :) If you’d come back for a vacation, I recommend to do it in our summer months (March to May).

btw, samgetang is from Makati. :)

          • 1.1.1.3.11 samgetang

@Jomo: COOL! you’ve been to our rock, as izzie would call it. When’s your next trip here? I have to confess I have not read any one of the HP books yet….just watched the films. Must read soon…

        • 1.1.1.4 pohonphee

I dreamed about CSW twice. In one of those dreams he kissed a woman but not me, grrrrrr.

          • 1.1.1.4.1 Cabbage

Maybe you left a video playing while you fell asleep…

        • 1.1.1.5 Jomo

Yeah, I did 4 nights in a row of past 1am on a worknight viewing because of Life is Beautiful.

It wears on the ability of pretending to be happy at work.

I just want to crawl back into bed when I go home, but there is my laptop grinning at me and beckoning me to watch more watch more watch more!

    • 1.2 YY

izzie, you are first!!!! OMG you are first!!!!! *faints from excitement*

      • 1.2.1 izzie

        YY!!!

        You can’t fainttttttt!!!

We are yet to talk about the Man of Still! :P

        • 1.2.1.1 ahjummabunny

          man of still *chuckles*

          • 1.2.1.1.1 izzie

Have you seen Jomo’s poem for the Man of Still? Hilarious! ;)

He’s so still that the emotions fail to exit his sturdy shell and gather within, get sensed by frustrated fans, and blurted out in poems.

So far, we’ve seen the effects on Jomo and YY. I wonder who’s next. :)

        • 1.2.1.2 YY

The Man of Still is amazing…..so inspirational; I haven’t written a poem before this one, and I watch him still the scenes in Heartstrings and what d’ya know, BHAM! I’m inspired! What a guy! What a man! Scenestiller extraordinaire!!!!!

          • 1.2.1.2.1 izzie

            LOL! YY!!! :D

Looks like YH makes your world stand still. What an appeal! ;)

And lieu of a shower scene, he drenches in rain.

          • 1.2.1.2.2 Jomo

I have never realized the importance before of scenestillers.

They can make or break a show, can’t they?

            Shin Shin Shin
            Unmoving Man
            Jealous scenery
            is not a fan

            Blends so well
            Might not see ‘im.
            Hard to tell –
            that chair could be ‘im.

          • 1.2.1.2.3 MJP

            Jomo!!!

            LOL!

I read a little of your post one one of the Heartstrings reviews. I get the impression that you don’t find yourself attracted to the “Man of Still” as much as you were to SSH or Aggie PIE or some of the others you have favored. *Vaguely remembers something about an obscure actor who did a car commercial that Jomo liked. Scratches head to try to remember name. Doesn’t work.*

Did you read the article about Grandpa and what he had to say regarding Kpop Idols trying to do acting?

          • 1.2.1.2.4 YY

            Jomo,great poem!!!!! *guffawing*

          • 1.2.1.2.5 izzie

            LOL! Great one, Jomo! :)

But these lines got me concerned…

            “Hard to tell –
            that chair could be ‘im.”

Since he can disguise as anything, should we be more careful with our comments? That computer monitor could be him!

          • 1.2.1.2.6 Jomo

            Izzie-
Actually, I have been warily prairie dogging every time I write anything not nice about Shin.
Surprised that the MOSDT (Man of Still Defense Team) hasn’t threatened me yet; they are not happy with criticisms of Shin.

            MJP-
            Orabaji!
I wonder if he is thinking of any specific idols? I wonder if he is alos thinking of THT?
Does YY know that PSH and Grampa are in the same show?
            Her head will explode!

          • 1.2.1.2.7 YY

OF COURSE I noticed, Jomo. Duhhhhh!!!!! I was looking at the splendour of PSH in his robe when omo! something drew me to that handsome dignified man standing at the side. I fainted clean on my laptop at the sight of that swoonworthy face!!!!! Grandpa!!!! PSH and Grandpa together!!!! Can you imagine how hard it’s going to be for me???? Grandpa looks beautiful in period costume, don’t you agree? *brandishing chopper* Say yes.

          • 1.2.1.2.8 Jomo

            YES, YY! He looks AWESOME!
But I try not to look too closely at him as he is clearly your MINE.

PS. The article seems to hint he will not be on the show for long…Please don’t mourn too much.

          • 1.2.1.2.9 MJP

So what is up with the shows killing Grandpa off these days? I wonder if it is because he looks too good in the suits and period clothing, the sets are stormed by heated ahjumma’s trying to get close to him? The writers have no option but to write his character out early so they won’t get too behind on filming the drama.

    • 1.3 Shiku

Hey You! Izzie not from Singapore

Why did you one up me and be first on OT and relegate me to second? Why? *wail*

Anyway I sympathize with raccoon eyes s I have my own golf ball eyes becoz I woke up in the middle of the night and watched k-dramas as I couldn’t sleep.

      • 1.3.1 izzie

        LOL.

        Uhm… because it’s fun? :)

We can split the cash prize, if you want… but I’ll keep the life-sized CSW-modeled trophy/statue. :P

Raccoon eyes… it’s only a matter of time before I progress to Panda Bear. :)

        • 1.3.1.1 Shiku

I will take the cash but you can keep the CSW-statue. So as a compensatory gift it would be great to get a Pil-Joo statue

    • 1.4 samgetang

      Happy friday…Lazy Saturday…Quiet Sunday!

WOW! Izzie, I think I counted roughly 30 replies after your #1 post. I had so much fun reading all of them…it’s like a well-played ping-pong game that’s so entertaining. Jomo’s Man of Still poem, LOL…love it, yeah! YY’s scenestillers, hahaha! Ricky’s claim on “eye luggage”…oh no! pls, let us use it, too! MJP’s 2 day marathon, yay! Malta and LMH dreams, too?! Pohonpee’s Ani chronicles, wahahaha! Ahjummabunny cheerin’ for raccoon eyes! Shiku’s golf ball eyes, LOL!

Sorry to be late in the game. Izzie, finally!!!! You’ve watched C/Hunter! Yay! Dont you love LMH’s cool moves and slick stunts? :-)

      • 1.4.1 izzie

        Happy Weekend too, samgetang!!! :)

Oh yeah. I’m in lurrrv with LMH (this is the drama where he is in his hottest, so far!), but also torn because of Prosecutor YJ. It’s v. difficult to fight the urge of pushing the pause button every time Prosecutor is onscreen.

btw, Bad Dad’s henchman, doesn’t he look a bit Pinoy?

        • 1.4.1.1 samgetang

Izzie girl…oo nga mukha syang Pinoy, ano? Baka sya ang nagturo ng FMA kay LMH, hehe.

          • 1.4.1.1.1 Jomo

            btw, samegetang and izzie -
I would love to go back to Makati.

My boss and I have been angling for a reason to train over there, but none of my plans are working.

How cool would it be to meet across the globe?
At least now I know your time zone.

My family here in Buffalo hosted the 23 Philippine visitors to my company and had a BBQ with my kids and some neighbors. It was so much fun. We also got to go out with the gang to Niagara Falls. We live about 30 mins from there.
The whole experience left quite an impression on my kids.
I have voted the Philippines as the place with the nicest people in the world.

          • 1.4.1.1.2 samgetang

Oh, JOMO! I hope you can swing back here from your cave of dwelling….soon! And hope you can bring your family over. The sea, sun, sand beckons….

(BTW, izzie and I haven’t met yet in person…but now that you mention it…I think we might find time to do that soon. Right, izzie? :-)

Thanks for voting for us, by the way :-) It’s tough to be tagged as such…try to be honest and frank at one point and they will call you heartless monster, hahaha! We could use some un-niceness sometimes :-)

          • 1.4.1.1.3 izzie

@samgetang: isn’t that cool? FMA is gaining international fame. :)

I’ll be in Makati next weekend for my training in video editing. ;)

“We could use some un-niceness sometimes.”

This is what foreign photojournalists find odd and challenging about Pinoys. They find it difficult to get a reflection of any disaster from the faces of Filipinos – they always get smiles even from those submerged chest-deep in flood. Stranded people even wave hello at them, photojournalists.

@Jomo: thanks for voting for us! :) I hope you’d be able to visit PHL again and have a great time. And I hope samgetang and I could have the opportunity to return the favor to you by showing you around interesting spots in the capital, which mostly serves as a jump-off point for visitors to other places in the country.

  3. So3

    Happy Friday!

Has anyone watched the trailer of Scent of a Woman? It’s looking good :)

I can’t wait to see sparkling chemistry from KSA and LDW! Have been crazy searching for news and photos about this new drama these days!

Press con will be held on the 19th ;)

    • 3.1 ahjummabunny

I didn’t mind that cha seung won moved on to gong hyo jin, but I think I’ll have a hard time letting go of shin mirae. I don’t know if I’m ready to see seol gong chan with someone else either. Although, if he was with yurin right now she’d look like a completely different person too.

      • 3.1.1 So3

I didn’t think I would be very into this new pair at first… but after following the news and especially LDW and KSA’s interaction on me2day (something similar to twitter in korea), i totally think they are just adorable and am now so very looking forward to seeing them on screen together!!

      • 3.1.2 Linh

I’m with you there. I am not ready to let go of Jo Guk and Mi Rae either. What chemistry that was!

      • 3.1.3 ck1Oz

You have to watch the BTS shots.

There is no shower scene as I know of but he is snorkelling in the sea.He has definately grown up since he went into the army.

I saw some BTS videos. They are kind of cute together. Her voice is the same but the characters are so different.

I have more issues with the age difference. It’s another noona romance.

        • 3.1.3.1 zgznoona

I love noona love stories. I’m sure nobody is surprise about it. I’m looking for my dongsaeng

          • 3.1.3.1.1 ck1Oz

All the donsaengs are in the saguek dramas this fall :-)

          • 3.1.3.1.2 cmrprindle

The only noona story I’ve watched so far is The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry, and though I love it, it kinda depresses me, too. I’m walking down the street of that age but, at the rate I’m going, no noona-killers are going to do a drive-by. Besides, I look like a dongsaeng. :s

          • 3.1.3.1.3 hookedonmonix

I love the noona stories, too. It’s so common and acceptable to do the older man/younger woman thing- even when the age difference is huge (Audrey Hepburn played opposite Humphrey Bogart, Fred Astaire and Gary Cooper who were 30/30/28 years older than her). So, a woman in the 4-10 year older range is a little refreshing. Plus, as a woman no longer young myself, I like the idea that women in their thirties can get any kind of man we want, thank you very much.

        • 3.1.3.2 ahjummabunny

ck10z you’re obviously touting sageuks! you’re as obvious as two obvious things!

          • 3.1.3.2.1 ck1Oz

I can’t help it all I want is a new drama. But we have the warrior and princess man. Then there is The tree with deep roots.

            I am drama-less.

    • 3.2 SweetiePie54

I’m getting really excited for this! At first, I didn’t really care but I recently re-watched My Girl and My Name is Kim Sam-soon and I’m looking forward to a KSA-LDW pairing.

  4. absothe

    Happy Friday everyone!
I don’t have any good k-drama’s to watch, can anyone make a suggestion? (please no City Hunter or ripley, it’s not really my cup of tea).

    • 4.1 ahjummabunny

I’m in the same boat. I’m watching old dramas I just started personal taste and I’ve been watching it in 10 minute increments. I am also watching cain and abel in 1 minute increments. It’s really a dry season for me!

      • 4.1.1 Arhazivory

I’m in a different boat. So many dramas downloaded and don’t know when I’ll get to watch them. For eg. Coffee Prince, Fantasy Couple, Jumong, Queen Seon Deuk, IRIS and a few more are sitting on my HDD, staring at me with wide eyes as they plead ‘Watch me please~!’

-_-’ Time…..if only I had more of you.

        • 4.1.1.1 Silver

I’m jealous. Well, not of the time constraints, I have plenty of that, thank you, but I wish I hadn’t seen some of those dramas you’ve mentioned (well, okay, mostly Coffee Prince) because then I’d still get to experience that first time watching it, the anticipation, the excitement and the awesomeness of vicariously falling for Choi Han Kyul :P

        • 4.1.1.2 lvsanchez

Watch Coffee Prince!! Perfect summer drama! I watched it in the winter…. made me long for July

          • 4.1.1.2.1 Jomo

            Summer = Coffee Prince
I think it would be tough to find a drama that is better in the summer than Coffee Prince.

All that heavy foliage outside the cafe, the hot, sleepless nights of the OTP apart, the trips to the beach, the concert in the cafe… *sigh* LOVE it.

          • 4.1.1.2.2 Arhazivory

lol. Sounds like I’ll be watching Coffee Prince next then.

            Thanks for the suggestion peeps.

      • 4.1.2 absothe

Yeah, just when I have so much free time, I have nothing to watch.
I even started to watch american shows now. Suits, burn notice, white collar and even teen wolf!

        • 4.1.2.1 ahjummabunny

oh my god I’m doing the same thing. I didn’t start burn notice but I watched eureka this week and most of warehouse 13. How is suits? I might watch that on demand too, are you watching haven or breaking bad? They both premiere this weekend.

          • 4.1.2.1.1 Sarratiger

Suits is funny. Did anyone watch the premiere of Alphas? I’m disappointed. I like to sink my teeth in dramas with an interesting plot and dynamic characters but it doesn’t have enough meat on the bones for me to be a fan yet.

          • 4.1.2.1.2 cmrprindle

Eureka! Love that show. How was Warehouse 13? I never seem to be able to quite keep up with it, ditto Leverage.

        • 4.1.2.2 ahjummabunny

          @sarratiger
I watched a few minutes of it thinking wow cool then they were on the roof and found a shell casing! I thought if the person is so smart to make such an excellent shot why are they leaving a shell casing behind! I switched the channel. I used to whine about k-dramas not having second seasons but I’m kind over second seasons now they’re usually same old, same old unless a character leaves or a new one comes in.

        • 4.1.2.3 ck1Oz

Go watch 1N2D or Strong Heart. It’s hilarious and different from dramas.

          • 4.1.2.3.1 absothe

I would love to watch strong heart, but I can’t find subbed episodes. I already watched the one’s on viki, that are subbed.

          • 4.1.2.3.2 Lisa

            @absothe

You may find download and streaming links of the first 20 episodes of Strong Heart at this site

            http://z6.invisionfree.com/Strong_Heart_Forum

          • 4.1.2.3.3 hamsandwich

hmmm strong heart sounds interesting, I’d never heard of it before.

        • 4.1.2.4 malta

ahahaha. I watch almost no american shows. It’s been a while now. Just the news and some Daily show with Jon Stewart. I’ve been meaning to watch the last season of Fringe since it started, but too many kdramas have sucked up my free time!

I have this habit now if I’m watching something in English my eyes will slowly look towards the bottom of the screen like I’m expecting subs….oh wait I forgot! I actually speak English!

          • 4.1.2.4.1 ahjummabunny

I CANNOT watch any tv without caption. I don’t understand what is being said in english, my native tongue, but I can watch k dramas without subs and understand a lot more than I should.

          • 4.1.2.4.2 Shiku

It’s happened to me too checking for screen caps even though I understand english

          • 4.1.2.4.3 MJP

            malta,

I am the same way, the only American show I am watching is Bones. When I watch DVD’s which is rare now, I always put the captions on even though it is in English, because I want to make sure of what I am hearing. I did that before I started watching Kdramas though.

I love watching the dramas RAW. Sometimes though, I do get a bit anxious when it seems REALLY important to the story and I can’t figure out what they are saying.

With regard to K dramas, I am starting to understand more and more by listening and then watching English subs. I stopped taking notes though, which can be bad because sometimes I’ll hear something in Korean and forget what it was.

I am actually picking up bits of Japanese and Mandarin too from watching J & T dramas. If there are no English subs, I’ll watch Kdramas with French subs. Like right now, I cannot find a good copy of Biscuit Teacher and Star Candy except with French Subs.

        • 4.1.2.5 Shiku

How was Burn Notice? Am like a season behind

          • 4.1.2.5.1 ahjummabunny

then you have to catch up! they added a new guy I don’t remember much of it except it ended in New York! I watched the beginning of the first episode a few times but it didn’t hold my interest. I’m not there yet. But last season fiona had a few great episodes. I didn’t even watch covert affairs and I loved it last summer. I did watch in plain sight on demand though. Are you watching haven?

          • 4.1.2.5.2 absothe

I catched up on it again. Burn notice is getting good again, they are tying the loose ends, so I think it’s going to end soon.

    • 4.2 MadDino

I’m there with you. Right now I’m re-watching “You’re Beautiful” I’m so excited that DramaFever now has the version that isn’t edited. I never knew what I was missing out on. Oh that bidet scene, made me laugh so loud.

      • 4.2.1 zgznoona

is it so much different? I’ll have to check that.

      • 4.2.2 Silver

I marathoned it last weekend, prompted by Heartstrings. Oh Hwang Tae Kyung, how I love thee. :P

What missing scenes have you found? There are a few scenes that are hinted at in the episode previews but don’t turn up in the actual episodes. An elevator scene between Minam and TaeKyung circa episode 3 and also this scene where Jeremy asks Minam to take a break from things and go to England together but that’s more towards the end, after she is revealed as a girl.

        • 4.2.2.1 MadDino

So far I’ve only found a few. Mostly in the fist episodes. Maybe there are more in the later episodes. But I’m one episode and the last several don’t seem that much different. Scenes that I’ve noticed are where Minam is cleaning the statues. Where Minam first enters the house and takes a grand tour and then returns the MP3 player and then get caught in the bathroom and turns on the bidet. There is also a scene where she tells her manager the Taekyung knows and they come up with a few ridiculous plans to stop him.

          • 4.2.2.1.1 Silver

Ah yes, LOL, the Oldboy inspired scenario and the Sorry Sorry dance. Jang Geun Suk channeling Choi Min Sik gets me every time :P I think I saw the uncut version from the beginning then because I saw all the scenes you mentioned, including the bidet. I wonder what happened to the scenes in the preview though. Is there an even more uncut version or were they just discarded? Hmm.

      • 4.2.3 girlatsea

Omg, finally! I don’t how long they had the edited version up but I watched about 4 episodes of it a few months ago before I stopped because I didn’t like the fact that I wasn’t watching the “real thing”. haha yay! One of these days when I get the time, I’ll marathon it.

      • 4.2.4 hookedonmonix

Does anyone know why scenes were edited out?

    • 4.3 Sethe

I’m really liking Myung Wol the Spy and Warrior Baek Dong Su so far.

Neither of these was really on my radar before they started, but I saw the positive impressions of them on this site, and decided to check them out.

I don’t usually gravitate toward sageuks, but Warrior Baek Dong Su is pretty awesome so far. I’m liking the characters, and feel that there’s a good chance for some excellent conflict and character development in the future. I love the assassin kid, and the Crown Prince is pretty badass. Plus, I guess I just love sageuk hair (for men), and the overall disheveled look (men in contemporary dramas are just so… pretty).

Regarding Myung Wol the Spy, it just makes me smile. It’s kind of loopy and goofy, but in a fun way. I never saw the appeal of Eric before, but I’m kinda liking him here.

      • 4.3.1 ahjummabunny

I’m glad to hear you like them sethe. I’m wating for a few to build up before I watch or even read recaps!

      • 4.3.2 ricky the royal highness

I started laughing out loud when the big shot North Korean Officer said “why don’t we have him here?” and then it all went vibrating-ly goofy in a good way after that.

I can’t wait for them to get married!!!

        • 4.3.2.1 Sethe

I must have missed something. Who’s getting married? (Oh, and by the way, I also love the North Korean guy Ryu… SO HOT.)

          • 4.3.2.1.1 ricky the royal highness

Myung Wol is assigned to turn Kang Woo over to the Northern side, right? So she’s supposed to do that by marrying him first :)

The Ryu guy is like Eye Candy at this moment. I want the In Ah character to turn his world upside down and create more goofy moments for us.

      • 4.3.3 Shiku

I also hadn’t planned on watching warrior Baek Dong Su but its interesting and the older characters kick ass.

I also love saguek hair on men as it makes them more masculine.

Started reading the recaps for Mung Wol the Spy and it made me laugh so I may just watch it.

        • 4.3.3.1 Sethe

I hope we’ll see more of the Sword Saint, right?

And how creepy is the dude who always licks his sword?

          • 4.3.3.1.1 Sethe

‘kay, and I could go somewhere dirty with the idea of a man “licking his sword,” right? Smirk.

          • 4.3.3.1.2 Shiku

He is creepy and kind of annoying. I liked him in previous sagueks like IYSS and Retirn of Iljimae. Here not so much

      • 4.3.4 JJ

i’m liking warrior baek dong soo also, it’s interesting tho likewise not in my radar for epic but now i’m hooked! it’s a gud drama esp with ji chang wook & yoo ??? forgot the rest of his name sorry :(

      • 4.3.5 Cynthia

        I’m watching Warrior BDS, too.
It’s excellent – the two young boys in particular are turning in a fine performance.
One thing for sure – I’m amazed at how strongly the boy who plays “Assassin Boy” (for lack of a better description) to me, is a DEAD RINGER as a young version of Song Il Guk! Fascinating….
        :)

    • 4.4 SweetiePie54

I’ve been re-watching some old dramas- The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry, My Girl, My Name is Kim Sam-Soon. I recently started Giant which is am liking so far and I’ve watched a couple episodes of Royal Family which has me intrigued.

      • 4.4.1 ahjummabunny

oh royal family and giant are excellent! My sister and I just remarked that giant could’ve been done in royal family time. That show get’s a lot done!

      • 4.4.2 amee

the woman who still wants to marry is one of my personal favorites.

        • 4.4.2.1 cmrprindle

I am all but legally obligated to 2nd this, lol! :)

    • 4.5 JJ

i agree no ripley/city hunter for me too, likewise not my cuppa tea/nor coffee :) how about my love by my side, it’s a nice drama; twinkle/twinkle (i hvnt finished tho) warrior baek dong soo – v interesting indeed i’m following & an old one be strong geum soo, then a new one still airing i need romance, this is cute, so hope this helps!

      • 4.5.1 ahjummabunny

I’m watching my love by my side and added be strong geum soon to my netflix key. I should start it in two weeks. how far along are you with my love by my side? can you spoil me a bit?

      • 4.5.2 amee

yes, i need romance is really great! it’s a simple story and doesn’t feel like your average kdrama.

    • 4.6 Lisa

What genre do you prefer? That would make it easier for us to make suggestions.

    • 4.7 pororo

I want to suggest my favorites. :)
      1. Redbeen bread/Sweet buns(2004) was the best rom-com I have ever seen.
      2. We are dating now/Hojung(2002)
old ones but personally, I prefer these to recent dramas.
They kept me watching joyfully till the end without unrealistic mother-in-law, birth secret and chaebol.

      • 4.7.1 ahjummabunny

i really didn’t like we are dating. The story is so interesting but it just dragged too much for me.

      • 4.7.2 MJP

        pororo,

Did you watch those streaming online? I’m going to look for them.

        • 4.7.2.1 MJP

I found Sweet Buns on Youtube with a Vietnamese woman doing voice dubbing over the Korean.

      • 4.7.3 pororo

        @ MJP
Ayo~ I’m sorry, I shoud’ve double-checked before recommendation. Just found most of links for Sweet bun were broken. I thought streaming service for this drama was still available with english subtitle.
Too bad. I wanted to share good dramas, which made me giggle like a teen girl and warm up my heart.
I’m not sure if you already watched those as well, though. May I give you the list of other dramas I really enjoyed without an unnecessarily dramatic mother-in-law, terminal illness and birth secret instead?
        , ,,, ,,,

        • 4.7.3.1 pororo

hmm, how come the list is not seen?
          ok write down again. :)
Romance, 18 vs. 29, Hello teacher/Biscuit teacher and star candy, Save the last dance for me , Snow white ,Dae jang geum, Starts falling from the sky, Prosecutor princess, Smile you, Legend of Hyang Dan.

Jdrama: Haken no hinkaku, my boss my hero(remake of kmovie but I think it’s more enjoyable)

          • 4.7.3.1.1 ahjummabunny

You know I’ve been thinking about save the last dance for me’s ending. The show is all random harvest and then they add love affair but without the art. I always feel like the drama has one scene too many.

          • 4.7.3.1.2 pororo

correction: ‘stars falling from the sky’
Maybe I need to add one more drama. :-)
My Love Patzzi was more entertaining than Snow White.
I really liked Kim, Rae Won’s curly hair and Jang, Nara’s character in it.

            @ ,ahjummabunny
I think I get what you mean.
‘We are dating now/Hojung’ and ‘Save the last dance for me’ might have dragged and had somewhat repetitive scenes.
But if there’s something that I really like, then my critical sense does not work properly. :)
I was caught by So, Ji Seob being innocent in thought and act and greatly enjoyed funny situations that the female lead was faced with from ‘We are daing now’.
And also ‘Save the last dance for me’ entertained me with pure and dramatic love like a fairy tale despite a corny story. Especially, I was enthralled by soundtrack ‘Give My Love by Edward Chun’. :-)

            Thanks!!!

  5. Arhazivory

    Happy Friday everyone.

Gonna bathe my dog. I can bet by the time I’m done, the thread has over 100 replies. lol.

    • 5.1 ahjummabunny

Aww dog bathing must be so naaiice! Happy Friday!

      • 5.1.1 Arhazivory

It’s nice…up until he starts flashing water everywhere. lol.

        • 5.1.1.1 ahjummabunny

oh, I thought you did it outside with a hose! I think that’s the best thing to do with large brown dogs.

          • 5.1.1.1.1 Arhazivory

Actually….its outside in a tub. But as it turns out, the shampoo is lost so bathing is postponed. -_-’

          • 5.1.1.1.2 ahjummabunny

ha ha! That’s good for us but bad for the presumably smelly dog.

  6. Janet

Is anybody watching New Tales of Gisaeng? – I was loving the later episodes, but Episodes 49 & 50 got a bit too crazy/weird for me.

    **SPOILER ALERT**
What’s with the ghost possession stuff?????

    • 6.1 deulhee

what the heck? Busy-ness has kept me from watching (although i find even if i miss 2 episodes, i can catch up quite quickly) … but ghost possession? that… sounds too desperate for material

      • 6.1.1 malta

haha, ghost possession sounds like American daytime soaps

        • 6.1.1.1 ahjummabunny

are you thinking of passions? I can’t think it would fit in with a young and the restless storyline. I loved passions.

          • 6.1.1.1.1 malta

Passions was soooo my guilty pleasure!!!!! I cringe just thinking about it. I would never, ever admit to anyone that I watched Passions back-in-the-day and gleefully at that. It was way cooler to watch General Hospital and fangirl over Lucky. Oh memories :D

        • 6.1.1.2 KDrama Fan

I like it. Dad has shown what an awesome actor he is because of it. Also the Ah fanily have become much tighter because of it.

    • 6.2 zgznoona

I think they got inspiration from Hello Ghost to write the extension due to the delay of Scent of a Woman.
But it is SOOOO WRONG. Seriously crazy!!!

  7. Ohemgee

    Thank. Goodness. It’s. Friday…

    City Hunter marathoning time!!!

And the end of RoTo! :(

  8. Roxy

It’s friday, friday, gotta get down on friday! Everbody’s looking forward to the weekend- *stops* eww i hate that song! :(

Anywayz, hi city hunter and heartstrings people! What do you guys think of those dramas so far?

    • 8.1 Autumn

City Hunter has been pretty awesome so far, although I find it fun and enjoyable, I am not rabidly obsessed with it like a lot of other people are. Heartstrings, on the other hand, is flawed but also very addictive. I suppose I’m just more easily affected by youth dramas than other genres.

      • 8.1.1 Roxy

I know, heartstrings has this nice and youthful feel to it, and i tend to go more into that side.
As for City Hunter, i guess you can call me one of those “rapidly obsessed” people lol. I watched until ep 12 and decided to wait until all eps are aired. So i’ve been satisfying my city hunter needs by watching mvs and it’s quite working so far…a bit. Well i hope i can hold on lol.

      • 8.1.2 Kate

I’m totally addicted to Heartstrings. It’s so sweet and refreshing (especially as a break from the intensity of City Hunter). Youth dramas are just awesome. I loved Dream High and even the much-hated on Playful Kiss. I’m kind of a sap.

City Hunter has been great so far. I think they balance everything really well, never keeping things too light or too heavy for long. LMH is doing a really good job.

      • 8.1.3 ricky the royal highness

        Hello Roxy!

I agree with you. Heartstrings has a lot of flaws but I’m drawn to it. Is it too much to say that it feels like a Korean version of Glee?

And Kate, I think we come form the same tree – I’m a sap myself. I really don’t have any reason to watch Playful Kiss but I find myself re-watching it from time to time. The drama is weak but it keeps on calling my name.

        • 8.1.3.1 ahjummabunny

Is it just me or does the lead from playful kiss look quite like yamapi?

          • 8.1.3.1.1 Cynthia

You mean Kim Hyun Joong? Who’s yamapi? Or are you thinking of Yonsamma?
            :)

          • 8.1.3.1.2 ahjummabunny

yamapi is yamashita tomohisa from proposal daisakusen, buzzer beat, code blue 1& 2, kurosagi.

          • 8.1.3.1.3 Cabbage

Yes, and that’s one way to measure your fame – Kim Hyun Joon is now SO popular in Japan that he’s NOT mistaken for Yamapi anymore.

        • 8.1.3.2 cmrprindle

YRH, it’s like candy. You know you shouldn’t have it, or not much anyway, but once you’ve had a bite you could really do with some more. And sometimes there are cravings…

          • 8.1.3.2.1 ricky the royal highness

            Yeah, I agree.
The drama itself is very sugary.

  9. Anu

I watched upto 4th ep of heartstrings last week….I have 2 say that it did exceed my expectation….the traditional music is soooo nice…I wish they explore more into that…:)

    I want it 2 b wednesday soon!!!

    • 9.1 pigrabbit

I agree! Even though it’s lacking in some respects (what happened to all that traditional music v. rock??), I can’t help the addiction! It’s very interesting to watch.

    • 9.2 zgznoona

I feel the same. I really enjoyed the combination of music, but they have change the music for the tears… and I didn’t feel those emotions at all…Maybe there is something wrong with me? not sure since with CYHMH I was crying all the time.
I guess we can compare apples and oranges :)

      • 9.2.1 Roxy

Exactly. My biggest disappointments are the lack of intrumental/combination of music that we heard in the first couple of episodes. Really it was supposed to be about youth and college but yet, why do we always have to see that ballerina’s face everytime? She’s dull and boring, no offense. Now yong hwa and shin hye have this crazy good chemistry on screen, so why not take advantage of that? And whatever happened to Kyu Won’s feisty “i don’t care if he’s the campus’ idol” attitude that we saw in the beginning. i don’t want her following lee shin around, i think we had enough of that in Playful Kiss!

They want to improve Heartstrings’ ratings? Bring ki-young to fall for Kyu Won fast and make Lee Shin jealous!

        • 9.2.1.1 zgznoona

You too felt like if you were watching Oh Ha Ni this last couple of episodes?
          I miss Kyu-won’s strong character

          • 9.2.1.1.1 Roxy

Yea, i thought she was a strong female lead, i’m disappointed… But we’re still only 6 eps in, she can still change.

          • 9.2.1.1.2 izzie

There’s still hope. She’s not yet 100% aware of her feelings. Shin can still beat her to that.

And yeah… bring on the Ki-Young factor. Full throttle! :)

  10. 10 tinyviolin

I’m about to go to Mudfest for the first time…..worried and excited! Plan to avoid the hordes of Army guys throwing rocks and headlocking each other ~ will run straight through the muck then chill on the beach!

A lot of people I know are down on it, but I have to go once, right?

Plus, I completely plan to force my friends to attend the Pusan Film Festival with me.

Getting up in three hours to take a bus. We’ll see how this goes….

    • 10.1 tinyviolin

….bummed I can’t catch up on “my shows”, but a girl’s gotta get out sometimes….

    • 10.2 ahjummabunny

I’ve seen advertisements for mudfest I think it’s a bit mad. I’d be the friend you couldn’t force to go to mudfest, but I’d accompany you willingly to the film festival. Have fun and take photos of other mad people, or not.

      • 10.2.1 tinyviolin

I think it’s very crazy, in some spots. The place where waygookins go to get frenzied.

But I’ve been promised we’re avoiding that ~ ~ I’ll report back after the weekend. ^_^

        • 10.2.1.1 Sethe

Wait a minute… what’s Mudfest? Is it in Busan this weekend? What am I missing out on?

          • 10.2.1.1.1 cmrprindle

            Ditto. What is the Mudfest?

          • 10.2.1.1.2 Sethe

Found out what it is. Some people I work with were just talking about it, and apparently it’s just what it sounds like. As one of my co-workers described it, “a bunch of people getting drunk in the mud, taking their clothes off in the mud, throwing up in the mud, pissing in the mud…” Sounds like a blast! (Although, I might have enjoyed it a lot in my college years, actually…)

Oh, and I thought it was in Busan, but they said it’s about 2 hours outside of Seoul.

          • 10.2.1.1.3 cmrprindle

Wow that sounds like the last reincarnation of Woodstock, but with planned craziness vs. accidental crazy.

          • 10.2.1.1.4 Sethe

Woodstock — my thoughts exactly. My co-workers were going into detail about throwing mud at people, and people’s faces being covered with mud, and how the mud was all filled with vomit and excrement, and I was thinking… well, I actually didn’t really know what to think, because it’s probably the truth that such a thing would’ve appealed to me back in my early twenties, disgusting as it clearly is. Something about human community, or whatever…

        • 10.2.1.2 MJP

There was a mud festival in Michigan that I had read about a few days ago. Cute pictures.

I’m back! It was pretty crazy, but a lot of fun.

The whole thing was set up along a strip of beach in Boryeong, which is outside of Seoul. We went up with DiscoverKorea, which provided pensions and the most delicious chili cheese dogs Evar.

There wasn’t any piss or excrement in the mud, LOL. They had raised basins set up at the front filled with mud, and paintbrushes to paint yourself and any random strangers you wanted. There was also colored mud (red, blue, yellow) and a slide. We basically just got muddy ~ got some drinks, hung out on the beach, went swimming, then did it all over again. Again and again. There were fireworks later on in the evening, too. Of course.

It probably got a lot wilder in some spots, but it wasn’t near as manically primitive as I thought it would be. There were tons of Koreans and adorable little kids running around, as well. (How fun would this be as a kid?? God bless those parents.)

I got horribly sunburnt, and I know my co-workers are all going to gasp like they’ve never seen a sunburn before. :)

I probably wouldn’t do it again, but I’m glad I did it once.

          • 10.2.1.2.2 cmrprindle's phone

Tinyviolin that sounds like gobs of fun! I can’t imagine trying to keep track of kids in that, but it does sound like a place the wee ones would love. Heck, minus the pee and poo I think I’d love it, too :D

          • 10.2.1.2.3 MJP

Ya! I am so glad you had a good time. It sounds like a lot of fun!!! I’ve heard that mud is good for the skin too, so it was healthy fun, minus the sunburn.

    • 10.3 izzie

OMG! Pusan! I miss that place. :( Argh!

I’d gladly accompany you to the Film Fest, if only I have the time.

Don’t fret much about missing your dramas. You can always watch them online. What you can’t miss out on is real life and fun experiences. Gotta live those scenes you see in the dramas. :)

      Have a great time! :)

      • 10.3.1 tinyviolin

Thanks! It was fun. And Busan is pretty great ~ but I honestly miss Seoul!! I live south now, and everyone says they “like” Seoul but they would never “live” in Seoul.

Who wouldn’t like to live in Seoul. Really.

But it’s pretty fun down here, as well! I fully plan to go to the Film Fest this year. I must go once to that, also, at least!

  11. 11 tuqaz

    Happy Friday!

Just finished watching Babyfaced Beauty. Cute ending!! Need to finish watching th last 3 episodes of CYHMH, because I want to start watching Heartstrings! :)

    • 11.1 malta

Last half of CYHMH is awesome. Stock up on tissues! I might still be crying from that show…But in a good way cause my heart’s been through the ringer, but I’m smiling.

    • 11.2 zgznoona

CYHMH was just perfect. I cried in almost every episode (particularly towards the end) but it was so worth it. And I enjoy it more because there was no psycho female second lead, and I could understand the behavior of all the characters. btw I want to take Ma-roo oppa, I mean dongsaeng, home

      • 11.2.1 Lisa

I just marathoned CYHMH this week after reading so many good comments on it. Aside from anything else, it has the best bromance scenes ever.

        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAEl09OZlpc&feature=related

Maru is by far my favorite character, so multidimensional and played so well by Nam Goong Min. I found myself fastforwarding to his scenes and shedding tears when he did.

Here’s a link to a fanmade video of Maru and Young Gyu (dad)

        http://www.youtube.com/watch?

This FMV is of some of the important scenes

        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHeTtvaRAyA&playnext=1&list=PL96F1055D5836DBB1

        • 11.2.1.1 zgznoona

after watching the videos I feel like watching the drama again. It’s been so long since I watch the beginning…
Nam Goong Min did great job

        • 11.2.1.2 dramabliss

Ditto. Marathoned CYHMH this weekend, that is.

          Yes, the bromance scenes rock.

Although I felt that the scenes in the last two episodes were kind of drawn out (as if Show had a lot of time to kill in their hands), I love the drama and think that it has the best ensemble acting among the recent batch of kdramas. Young Gyu and Grandma were played really excellently.

A few hours into withdrawal, complete with eye luggage (with apologies to RHRH), the images that come to mind are almost all Ma Ru’s. This is my introduction to Nam Goong Min and am very impressed. Is it only me but doesn’t he have a strong resemblance to Jung Yong Hwa? Though, he can certainly work those facial muscles and eyes, unlike his Great Stillness. :)

I also think CYHMH will make a good teaching resource for discussion of issues such as handicaps (hearing impaired and mentally challenged), the elderly (dementia) and family (what really makes a family?)

          • 11.2.1.2.1 Jomo

Totally agree with you on your thoughts.
MR Oppa’s journey was central to all the healing on the show.

It would be nice to remove JYH and insert NGM for that role, if we could take some years off of him.

  12. 12 Celexa

I heard a reference to Hong Gil Dong on City Hunter and now I want to watch it. DramaCrazy has it available but the first episode looks very grainy.. does anyone know what other site offers the series?

TGIF everyone… I’m marathoning Hong Gil Dong while I wait for the next episode of City Hunter!

    • 12.1 Anu

I found 2 episodes in epdrama…but then nothing!!! So I just read the recaps in here!!! I feel like I watched the complete series now!!;)

      • 12.1.1 ahjummabunny

ms. javabeans’ recap of hong gil dong was really excellent. I think I’ll send her an amazon gift card for christmas.

    • 12.2 izzie

I’ve downloaded all the eps from mediumquality.blogspot.

I’m yet to watch it. ;)

  13. 13 Narae

    hi everyone, happy friday :)
i’d rather have marathon raccoon eyes than the paper-writing raccoon eyes i have now >< (also, promised boyfriend to hold off on watching city hunter, because when i described it to him, he was like "ok, that sounds awesome" and he NEVER wants to watch kdramas with me XD)
i know this has nothing to do with dramas, but did anyone go see harry potter? was it good?

    • 13.1 Roxy

Yea alot of people had been talking about the ending. Personally i’m not included in the hype about HP but i heard some people were crying while watching the movie…

      • 13.1.1 ahjummabunny

if it’s anything like the book there are some sad bits!

    • 13.2 ahjummabunny

aww . . . I love stories like this. I actually lured my brother to k-dramas with city hunter, but then I didn’t like the show. I haven’t even seen the last harry potter film. It’s number 1 on my netflix q. so I won’t see the new movie until next week.

    • 13.3 zgznoona

I planning on going today to see HP.
The book make me cried so I would be surprise if people cry with the movie.
Just to think the series is over it’s sad to me, I felt a sense of lost after I finished reading the last book when it came out.

    • 13.4 Linda

i saw it today, and as a huge huge HUGE harry potter fan i can only say that the movie was good, not great, just good/average. I teared up in some of the parts but thats only because i thought about how it was written in the book. I honestly felt that the movie didn’t follow the book completely but it was true enough so that the sense of wonder and finality of the series was there.

      SPOILER**
I thought voldemort’s death could have been done better.. i mean it took 7 books and 8 movies to kill the guy/monster yet his death wasn’t all it could have been. I wished there was something more to it, something with more oomph, but i’m happy at how it was.

I also had a great laugh at all the aging done on the actors for the flashforward. Everyone looked hilarious.. besides Draco who looked pretty hot ;)

      • 13.4.1 zgznoona

I can’t wait now. I wan to see it.
totaly random thought here: Am I the only one who had voldermort fashbacks whenever I saw Cha Dong Jo in CYHMH?
He was so white in the drama and with the his red eyes, and his features… I totaly saw voldemort
A sweet and adorable versio of him of course

      • 13.4.2 Cabbage

It doesn’t say much for the movies that I prefer the spoof version in A Very Potter Musical to the official version. And I think it’s even more accurate…

    • 13.5 ricky the royal highness

I’m going to watch it later today – In approximately 20 hours time. Let’s just hope that one sleepless night in the OT won’t cause me to fall asleep in the cinema.

    • 13.6 Shiku

I think I must be the only one in the planet who is immune to the Harry Potter books/movies as I have never read one book or even finished a movie yet I have watched LOTR trilogy, Narnbia series.

    • 13.7 Pela

Haven’t seen it as yet. :-(
Did anyone see the red carpet pics? Neville Longbottom turned out to be the hotties of the group!

    • 13.8 danni

Yeah, I saw it at midnight, but it was just ok. I don’t know why but it felt sort of anti-climatic. I think I was just too dissatisfied with the fight scenes, but I think most Potter fans will be satisfied

  14. 14 MsYumi

happy OT Friday everyone!!:) i am currently watching i need romance and i really really like it..:) :)

    • 14.1 ahjummabunny

happy ot! Happy Friday! You just gave me an idea about what to watch I’m currently languishing.

      • 14.1.1 MsYumi

        hello ahjummabunny! :) give it a try i’m sure you’ll like it :) it’s very realistic…

        • 14.1.1.1 skelly

I second this. INR is addicting, I can’t stop wondering and worrying what mistakes these characters are going to do next…! I know I am addicted when I watch the raws for a show, when I understand about two words of Korean. I waiting for Dramafever to load up the subbed version and satisfy my curiosity.

    • 14.2 zgznoona

      Happy OT Friday.
I’m just waiting for ep 10 of INR to come out… It’s really funny. Maybe I don’t get to connect emotionally with most of the characters, but it is more realistic in the way it describes relationships, and I love that.

      • 14.2.1 SweetiePie54

I really like this drama and I’m glad I decided to watch it. It’s not perfect, but it’s light, frothy and fun and definitely different from other k-dramas which I appreciate.

I haven’t watched episodes 9 or 10 subbed yet, but I’m a little disappointed in the interactions between Inyoung and Sung Hyun when they start dating. They made him seem a little puppy dog-ish and whiny and I don’t like that at all.

      • 14.2.2 JJ

i’m liking INR too glad i’m not alone :) it’s a cute kinda drama!

    • 14.3 yumi

I am also watching and enjoying I Need Romance and wish there was a forum to discuss/respond to this drama.

  15. 15 asianromance

Wow, I’m actually up in time for there to be under 30 posts on OT at the moment.

Marathoned the mainland China series, Rent a Girlfriend Back Home for New Year and DIDN’T regret it (often when I marathon stuff, I end up regretting it..i.e. You’re My Destiny- WHY?!!!!). This may be the first time I finished a mainland China production that isn’t directed by a Taiwanese person or have a Taiwanese actor/actress as the lead.

The first few set-up episodes played out tw-idol-drama-style but at a painful half-speed, but once they reach the guy’s hometown, the story gets going! Admittedly, the drama has some glaring flaws (dumbass reason why everyone is mad at the second female lead and ending each episode practically mid-syllable- okay I exaggerated a bit…, but it’s the same feeling), but I loved the interaction between the two leads and the family moments. If you’re Chinese like me, then it is interesting to see the old homes and old traditions. It’s also a good look at the clash between the strict traditional ways/adherence to Confucian culture that still exists in the countryside and the modern, liberal one and then, the reconciliation of those two cultures. I recommend this drama for those who have found mainland China rom-coms lacking and want to find one to enjoy. (of course, those who only watch Korean rom-coms will be disappointed.)

I told my mom about the drama and apparently, renting a girlfriend to bring home for the new year is a phenomenon in China and has been for the past 10 years. O_o

Also watched Myung-wol the Spy yesterday and am totally in love with the Ryu character. He hardly does anything, but he is just so frickin hot! I just want to reach into my laptop screen and pull him out and pounce on him! I don’t think I’ve been so physically attracted to a kdrama character/actor in awhile! What other dramas with Lee Jin Wook do you all recommend?

    • 15.1 ahjummabunny

do people really rent a young woman to bring home? Is it a way to stop arranged marriages or something? It seems pretty bizarre outside of entertainment!
lee jin wook was in powerful opponents with chae rim and lee jon hyuk. I love that drama call me a cheese head, but I love it! he was also in city of glass which I can’t find online but if you find for download or something I’ll write you a very thankful note.

      • 15.1.1 asianromance

The renting goes both ways: a young woman can also rent a young man to bring home. It’s a way to get one’s parents to stop worrying about you being single and unmarried. In a weird sort of logic, it’s a way of comforting one’s parents about your single status and to let them know you’re working on your “filial duty” to marry and reproduce and to not fret over it.

A lot of these renters have traditional families in the rural countryside whose members tend to marry young, but live in the city to work. They don’t have time to date in a serious manner (i.e. a woman trying to build up her career as quickly as possible before she decides to settle down) or don’t have the resources to date or marry (i.e. guy living in Beijing on a meager salary). This also works for guys who have real gfs who refuse to go to the countryside to visit his parents. And this also works for those who are gay and don’t want their parents to find out yet.

        • 15.1.1.1 ahjummabunny

ah that’s a nice thing for the kids to do
I’m finding out more and more that I’m really a bad daughter! I remember once my mother wanted to look at wedding dresses with me and I promptly left the room, the poor woman must be cursing me!

          • 15.1.1.1.1 asianromance

I think your mom would have rather you ditch her during wedding dress browsing than bring home a rented bf!! Thinking of the cursing that would have ensued if you tried to pull that over her!

I’m glad this phenomenon has allowed some young men and women to make some extra cash, but it just all sounds so wrong! However, I’m lucky enough to have a family who only bring the subject up maybe 3 or 4 times a year. A fellow Chinese-American friend of mine has to deal with a lot of full-on nagging to finish her studies quickly so that she can hurry up and marry. Her family isn’t even all that traditional, so the pressure for those in China from uber-traditional families must be huge.

I’m surprised the parents haven’t caught enough to question the status of the gf, but I guess people in the countryside don’t pay as much attention to such news.

        • 15.1.1.2 zgznoona

a problem might arise if the same person gets rented by two different guys from the same town/village.

          • 15.1.1.2.1 ahjummabunny

            that’s a great premise for a drama!!!!!

          • 15.1.1.2.2 ricky the royal highness

If we want to turn it to a makjang drama, then they can be siblings. or the parents could be related.

      • 15.1.2 grateful1

Hi Bunny~ I was pretty sure that I’d seen the title “City of Glass” on one of my DL-source sites, and sure enough, it’s a new addition to the collection at holdenpage(dot)net. I hope you enjoy it. Let us know whatcha think after you’ve watched it!

        • 15.1.2.1 ahjummabunny

          Dear grateful1,
I am most grateful and so that will make me grateful1, which makes this thank you note a thank you not to myself, when it should be to you. Or does it work for both of us? In any case thank you.

          • 15.1.2.1.1 grateful1

You Silly Wabbit….. I’ll just take it that you’re grateful 2(too)! Glad you finally found this. :D

    • 15.2 galen

I liked the premise of Rent a Girlfriend, and the interactions with family, but the OTP made no sense to me. The end-game came completely out of the blue, and all the previous angsting was simply swept away. What???

Plus, all the Chinese idioms made my head hurt. I would be like “what was that?? I think it’s something like that, let’s live with that approximation. Moving on….”

    • 15.3 kappy

Just regarding Ryu of MW the Spy, I agree. Quietly charismatic, smoldering, whatever you wanna call it, he’s NICE.

Happy OT everyone.I need to say it first because the thread explodes the next few hours.

Oh remember last week when I said I forgot how to do a drama marathon?

:-) I am up to Ep 10 Drunken to love you.Man now I know why you guys love Joseph Chang.Oh gosh I am not a TW person but totally went off KD this week because of him.

Didn’t even bother watching CH/Heartstrings/RT subbed.Just watch it raw.I’ve got Myung Wol on standby all because of him and repeating some scenes.

Now I’ll go back up the thread and see what you guys have been up to.

    • 16.1 ahjummabunny

wooow is he that good! Hmmm are you downloading or watching segments?

      • 16.1.1 ck1Oz

That boy.beats.even the Kdrama hero for being a great awesome totally supportive.I.want.him husband :-)

What does that tell you? He’s not even that good looking or perfect looking. However his character and the way he plays it.OMG.

You can download it but it doesn’t come with subs.Or you can watch it with segments.I am a Mandarin subber anyway so don’t really bother about the subs.Oh by the way even his voice is awesome.

Can you tell?I am in love :-)

        • 16.1.1.1 ahjummabunny

I’m envious! I love it when I fall for a drama guy but I haven’t for a while now!

        • 16.1.1.2 malta

I think Joseph Chang’s a cutie. It’s how he acts- his expressions, mannerisms etc. It also helps that he’s playing such an awesome guy who’s so great to his little mountain pig. (Shout out to Rainie – I see you! :)

He’s like a magnet. (plus, he’s a really, really talented actor) I bet he walks into a room and everyone, certainly the women, want to talk to him….I could continue contemplating the awesomeness of Joseph Chang, but I’ll stop….for now.

          • 16.1.1.2.1 ck1Oz

I am neglecting not only KD but OT for Joseph Chang.

            A guy with height,not scrawny,great voice,great actor playing a husband I’ll die for.

He is so sweet I just want to squeal whenever he appears.

Oh yes another reason why I like him-the lead is not indecisive about liking Xiao Ru.No noble idiot.I love you and I ant you and I am going to pursue you.HOT!!
            sizzle

Okay back to ep 10 now.Catch you after I finish ep 13.

        • 16.1.1.3 mcalkdrama

Joseph Chang. I love him. He is so awesome. Fangirl puddle right now.

    • 16.3 ricky the royal highness

He’s a breathe of fresh air.

    • 16.4 hapacalgirl

Hi fellow Drunken To Love You fan!!.

I love that drama so much, which is rare since TW dramas are really hit or miss with me and I tend to like KD more. But this and Sunny Happiness have been such winners . I am on episode 13, and I have got to say that Jie Xiu is one of the best written male leads I have seen in an asian drama and not just TW dramas, the fact that Joseph Chang brings him to life with his natural acting is just cherries on the top. Seriously every girl should have a Jie Xiu in their life. I originally watched this because I have a soft spot for Rainie Yang and most of her dramas (not all but most) and knew absolutely nothing about Joseph so he was such a pleasant surprise. In my opinion this has been some of Rainie’s best work and I love how toned down this role is and how nuanced her acting has become compared to many of her previous roles but Joseph definitely steals the show in this drama.

    • 16.5 Pela

Did someone mention Jospeh Chang???!!! I’m here to swoon.
Aaaah, he is just the right mix of boyish and manly but without being pretty.
I intend to get started on Myung Wol the Spy cos Eric seems similar.

    • 16.6 AnitaLotti

As Non-Asian I was always in awe about Asian Medicine as people in dramas never seem to stay sick for very long in a drama (expect for bad things like cancer). Take cold medicine for example: People feel bad, take a mysterious pouch of herbs and sleep everything off. Even in a drama thats pretty impressive.

Can you imagine my absolute horror when I watched the latest episode of Drunken to Love. Our heroine falls in the pool and the hotel director hands over an entire thermos filled with water with ONE vitamin C pill as “cold medicine” !?! And thats it????? I am still aghast and its four days since I saw the episode. The myth of asian cold medicine has seriously suffered.

Is there somebody knowlegdable who can restore my faith?

    • 16.7 Cabbage

Hee hee – I also followed someone’s advice on an OT and started watching Drunken To Love You. It hooked me and may be one of the best dramas I’ve ever seen. (I don’t need to say Asian dramas, because korean, jap, and taiwanese dramas kick all other dramas out of the water.)
What I love most of it is the delicate way we’re given just enough information at intervals that we’re one up on the characters, but we don’t have to yell at the screen to “just hurry up and get it!”
No, wait, that’s the second best thing. The best thing is the intro song.

    • 16.8 dramabliss

Yay, glad to see many DTLY fans here.

I like Rainie’s look in the drama (especially her hair). The more mature look fits the role well. And I join in the adoration being showered on Joseph Chang.

      For those interested:

Recaps are available at ockoala’s playground.

If you cannot find English subbed versions, raws can be downloaded at

    Hello! Happy Friday all!

    1. Okay. As much as I love Yoon Sung, dude needs to man up. “I like you too much so you avoid me.” WHAT? Either have the courage to decide to avoid Na Na and then follow through, or get past this noble idiot crap and make out with that girl!

    2. Random thought: I just caught up on You’ve Fallen for Me this week. Was it just me or was an instrumental version of “Enter the Sandman” playing in the background during one of the band’s studio scenes?

*PS- anyone following the Emmy nominations? I just have to express my anger that Community wasn’t nominated for Best Comedy again, and my joy that Parks and Recreation and Friday Night Lights were nominated for Best Comedy and Drama respectively. Thus endeth tangent.

    • 17.1 ahjummabunny

the last time I watched the complete season of an american show was last summer and that’s because I didn’t know dramas aired all week on tv!!!! and when I found out they had already started.

    • 17.2 asianromance

I am also upset that Community wasn’t nominated! This season had some amazingly clever episodes, like the Conspiracy one, the clipshow episode, and Dungeons and Dragons. I guess ratings matter a lot for nominating shows.

I’m also angry that John Noble didn’t get nominated for Fringe, again!

    • 17.3 Shiku

I second that. I love Community and I think its better than Glee. Never got into FNL or Parks though

      • 17.3.1 Kate

Community is so funny and offbeat and clever. There’s a joke in pretty much every line of dialogue and all the characters are awesome. I loved all the episodes mentioned…also, Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas. <3

  18. 18 newbie

    emm..i have a question…
why do some names appear green and some orange?

    • 18.1 ahjummabunny

orangey names have links to other sites.

    • 18.2 ahjummabunny

Hi Newbie welcome! I hope you’ll change your name soon.

      • 18.2.1 newbie

if 8 months of earnest drama watching whenever time permits takes it out of my name, i guess im not a newbie anymore…
but i’d like to keep the name anyways…”:-)”

        • 18.2.1.1 ahjummabunny

lol okay newbie! It’s only that is is a very on the nose sort of nickname isn’t it? what are you watching earnestly these days?

        • 18.2.1.2 newbie

          @ahjummabunny
CH! what else other than the overwhelming performance of hottie LEE MIN HO!

        thanku your royal highness!!

  19. 19 Kate

Hey, has anyone been watching Park Shin-Hye in Hayate the Combat Butler? I just started it and it’s pretty ridiculous (in a good way).

    • 19.1 Silver

I watched the first episode. I’m not sure if I can take the TW drama format and style but overall, as a PSH fan, I’d say the cute outweighs the bad. And George Hu’s also quite cute, i dare say. It’s probably going to be one of those dramas I keep stashed away for a rainy day or rather a KDrama dry spell. I do like the premise though, it makes me wish it were a K drama.

And also speaking of Park Shin Hye, why hasn’t anyone come up with the idea (that I know of, that is) of making Cyrano Agency into a drama? I would love, love, LOVE to see Park Shin Hye and Uhm Tae Woong OTP’ed in a drama based on the film. Just sayin’

      • 19.1.1 asianromance

What a great idea! I agree! Let’s have Cyrano the drama!

I wonder if PSH and UTW will ever end up paired together in a drama in the future! That would be awesome!

      • 19.1.2 Kate

Yeah, it definitely sticks really close to its manga origins. Even the intro is part manga. But I do love PSH. I wonder if it’s hard for her to act in Korean when everyone else is acting in Chinese. That must be weird for the other actors too, since they probably don’t know Korean.

Anyway, not sure if I’ll keep watching. I think it’ll end up being one of those dramas that I have to be in the right mood for. Like…a really peppy mood.

  20. 20 pohonphee

It has been long time since my last post on OT. Lately, every time I read OT on DB: “jeez, it’s weekend already”. I thought i just start my week yesterday.

    Happy Friday everyone :)

    • 20.1 ahjummabunny

are you complaining about the weekend???? Happy OT!

      • 20.1.1 pohonphee

Oh no, no complaint for weekend :) I think a machine that can make time go faster has been by my side lately, just like I want it.

        Happy OT ahjummabunny :)

    • 20.2 Jomo

      Hello STRANGER!
Have you been off the grid?
      Welcome back!

      • 20.2.1 pohonphee

Jomoooooooo miss you much on OT *hugs*

    • 20.3 izzie

Welcome back, pohonphee! :) Happy Friday too!

      • 20.3.1 pohonphee

Hello izzie :) :) congrats for your 1st! he, he, he

I never get the 1st trophy

        • 20.3.1.1 izzie

Thanks! :) I was at work when I first spotted the freshly-posted OT, so I got excited and broke some company rules. :P

I know it’s not a big deal, but there’s a bit of excitement at posting and waiting to see if someone beats you to it. LOL.

“I never get the 1st trophy.”

I’m sure, one of these days, you will. :) Sometimes just for the heck of it, I try for the first reply to the first comment.

It’s also fan to watch OT explode to more than 1,500 comments, like it did recently.

Will we be able to achieve a 3,000-commenter-OT? I think that would necessitate airing of at least 3 killer dramas to fuel discussions. But sometimes OTers surprise. ;)

          • 20.3.1.1.1 pohonphee

Many people are annoyed by “1st comment” comment.

But I enjoy to see 1st comment annoyed people. ha, ha (sorry JB :) )

They are even funnier than 1st comment commenter, don’t they know how hard to be the 1st commenter on DB? especially on drama recap.

          • 20.3.1.1.2 izzie

Haha! It’s fun to watch how the string of irked commenters follow the first “1st!” comment.

And then there’s the “1st!” comment that is not on the first spot. And then another string of comments follows it rubbing in the fact that it wasn’t actually first. :P

    • 20.4 cmrprindle

Happy Friday, phonphee! Welcome back ;)

    Waah, 어랜만이던이~…

Besides reading recaps of “49 Days”, and of “Romance Town”, “YFFM”, & “Spy Myeong-wol”, guess what I’ve just found…

Baek Ji-yeong, everyone’s Ballad Queen and OST singer, sang for the 1st part of the OST for Joseon Romeo & Juliet “The Princess’s Man”. It’s title is 오늘도 사랑해 “Loving You Today”.

    • 22.1 ahjummabunny

I like baek ji young too. speaking of singers where can I find music from jang jae in to buy or download?

    • 22.2 ahjummabunny

your o raen man i dan i greeting
is making me sing kim yon woo’s song that starts oraen man ya . . .I love that song his voice breaks so nicely at the high note. I played it so much that my neighbor asked me the name of it but my zune doesn’t support hangul so I couldn’t tell him.

  23. 23 zgznoona

    Happy OT to everyone.
This week I feel exhausted and I felt behind on my drama watching, even though now I have less dramas to follow.
Btw CYHMH had a great ending?

bunny, before I forget, last week you impressed me. You have to explain me how did you figured my hometown. I can’t help it, I’m a curious person.

    • 23.1 Roxy

I think we wrote two letters and then we were internet buddies and then we both got very busy with college and I’m not on facebook, nor nearly as cool as most new yorkers are on tv.

          • 23.2.1.1.1 zgznoona

            lol
You’re cool enough to like kdramas. That’s being pretty cool in my book

    • 23.3 Sethe

Euskadi eta Azkatasuna? (Or is that totally inappropriate and/or out of date? Haven’t kept up with Basque politics, sorry… No offense meant, just curious, really.)

      • 23.3.1 zgznoona

Not too sure if independence makes sense in a time of globalization and UE. Particularly if is sought through violence.
Getting transcendental, here. I better go back to talking about kdramas

        • 23.3.1.1 Sethe

Yeah, my frame of reference is a year I spent in Fuenterrabia back in the 90s, in high school. At that time, there were the “Spanish” and the “Euskadis,” and ETA was all over the place. Obviously, I’m not super-knowledgeable about all the politics, but seeing that you’re from Zaragoza, I was suddenly nostalgic and curious.

          • 23.3.1.1.1 zgznoona

I went to college in Pamplona, and my first weekend there was quite scary. I went for a walk Sat afternoon through the downtown and in every corner there was a police officer wearing asault wear

          • 23.3.1.1.2 Sethe

My high school (which had the Euskara track and the Castilian track) would often contemplate huelgas (hope I spelled that right), to protest various ETA bombings. (I did suspect that this was only to have time off from school, but I guess the point is that there were plenty of opportunities to protest ETA violence at the time.)

  24. 24 YY

Hi everyone. I’m watching “You’ve Fallen for Me” and “Myung Wol the Spy”. Getting rather bored with the first. Love the second! Hilarious and quirky. Han Ye Seul is one of my fav actresses and I like her playing the spy role, reminds me of her role as bitch Anna in Couple or Trouble, which is one of my most fav rom-coms ever. The side characters in Spy are so funny. Refreshing and original drama. Eric’s cool too but Han Ye Seul is the heart and core of this drama. In Christmas she was just so subdued as the good girl. She really sizzles when she’s cast in a badass role.

Anyway, I’m intrigued by “You’ve Fallen for me”‘s older woman-younger guy’s relationship. She rejects him in the drama, but it’s early days-ep6 only- and I’m wondering, will she fall for him as the drama progresses? I’m inspired by that possibility to come out with this quickie poem; hope you like it!

She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not:
A Tribute to Shin and Mopey Ballerina
    ____________________________________________

    Somebody please
    Help a wretched soul
A mind and body in turmoil
She says she doesn’t love me
    But deep deep down
I think – nay, I KNOW she does

    She loves me
    She loves me not
    She loves me
    She loves me not

    I give her a necklace
And drape it round her neck
I kiss her on the lips
    Hold her close so close
    I can feel her heartbeat

    I love you I say
Please say you love me too
    Her eyes are troubled
    But her lips are moving
I do not love you she says
    You are a boy
    You are not a man
    Say no more
    Let this be the end

Her words like shafts of ice
    Like a thousand knives
    Lash at me
    Tearing my heart into shreds
    Crumbling my dreams into ash

I stand alone in the rain
I weep for my father and my pain
I look up and she is there
I clutch her like a dying man
Clinging to his last breath of air
    I weep on her shoulder
    I weep for my father
    I weep for my mother

    She loves me
    She loves me not
    She loves me
    She loves me not

    It does not matter anymore
    I love her
    Then now and forever
    And that is enough
    To last me until tomorrow

    • 24.1 ahjummabunny

okay I’m usually anti han ye seul but you’re right about her doing bad better than good. I think she probably has more fun with those roles too. I’m glad to hear a lot of people are liking myung wol!!

    • 24.2 zgznoona

I think she already like him, but it is afraid of the idea. What other reason could she had to call him, out of everybody to come rescue her in the middle of the night. I also thought she look kind of disappointed when he said he would get over her.

    • 24.3 Jomo

      YY,
      I love your poem.
You are making me feel bad for him and I DON’T WANT TO FEEL BAD FOR HIM!
I want him to give up and let SH have Ballerina.
I think it is awesome that you are showing more feelings in your words than he shows!

12 years is too much of a distance for a Kdama show…
9 years was the biggest for a younger man/older woman from What’s Up Fox and THAT was a big deal.

    • 24.5 izzie

      Your poem is daebak! :)

This has emotions way too much for me to be able to reconcile with YH’s face. *shakes head in frustration.*

If they’re gonna put this in the drama, they’d have to make YH look at endless horizon and put the poem on voiceover, and add some wind to move his hair for drama so we don’t mistake the scene for a still shot. :P

      • 24.5.1 Jomo

I am confused as well, sometimes.

So then I decided, YH thinks he is the movie “Pictures of Dorian Grey” and somewhere in a room there is a moving picture of Shin with expressions and emotions, while the Man of Still stays true to his nickname.

That is the best I could do!

        • 24.5.1.1 izzie

LOL! that Shin portrait could be stored with the Bae Yong Joon portrait that does Shakespeare. (ref. JB/GF’s comments about BYJ’s acting in DH.)

*sigh* The Man of Still can get botox and no one would be able to know the difference.

          • 24.5.1.1.1 Jomo

Don’t remind me of BYJ in DH.
I had nightmares for weeks after seeing him *shudder*

He really has a nice physique under all those neckscarvey outfits. He should have done shower scenes!

          • 24.5.1.1.2 izzie

Bae Yong Joon, Jung Yong Hwa and Kim Hyun Joong in a shower scene… that would be kdrama’s answer to the Trevi Fountain.

          • 24.5.1.1.3 Jomo

            @IZZIE!!
            LOL

            :) :)

          • 24.5.1.1.5 izzie

@Jomo & Cynthia: Hmm… lemme give that a try. BYJ, JYH and KHY in the Trevi Fountain, with Mr. Hand Towel tossing Mickey Yoochun to the water (ref. fountain-tossing in My Princess). This is going to be a lot of work, unnies!

    Happy Friday …
Why is it when I wait for open thread I always get caught up on other things…so sad..the ipad rocks expect for one thing I can’t watch my dramas on it***sigh** it’s youtude for me …found Smiling Pasta instead of Pasta giving the T-drama a chance….what else can I watch on youtude with all the episodes?

    • 25.1 ahjummabunny

hmm a long time ago i love you a thousand times used to be on you tube. is there hulu on the ipad?

      • 25.1.1 malta

I don’t know anything about the ipad, but I think Hulu, oddly enough, has been the site that’s most help the spread of Hallyu in America…About 1 year ago I watched Personal Taste on Hulu. I was like “what’s this?” Well Malta, it’s the birth of an obsession. I definitely marathoned Personal Taste. My second kdrama, also on Hulu, was Coffee Prince. Then I was a gonner and stopped watching American television.

        • 25.1.1.1 Janet

My first kdrama was Coffee Prince on HULU!!! and I was hooked forever to kdrama.

But, I hated those skittles commercial……

          • 25.1.1.1.1 Janet

            or was it DramaFever??

          • 25.1.1.1.2 JJ

nadu, me too i hate those skittle commercials! when i first got hooked to kdramas it was lovers in paris & am a gonner too, i nvr watched any american ones anymore, nor listen to american songs only korean songs! bias eh? i guess u can say that but i just happen to love korean dramas/songs/actors/ etc. food to the point i even went to korea for a trip

    • 25.2 Roxy

You mean on youtube? They have Lie To Me, cute drama :)
      YEH is an amazing actress.

    • 25.3 hapacalgirl

I think with the ipad, the sites with videos have to be mobile compatible to play on it, since it is technically a mobile device. Also I think it doesn’t support flash, but I am not sure. For me youtube and some other video sources work, but I viki doesn’t on my ipad2.

      • 25.3.1 ahjummabunny

if that’s the case crunchyroll is mobile compatible. My sister watched the last 30 episodes of gloria on crunchyroll using her ipod.

        • 25.3.1.1 mim

Oooh I am going to have to look into this. I always feel like the iPad would be perfect for kdrama watching, but didn’t think it would work cos of flash.

          • 25.3.1.1.1 Lisa

I upload videos on mp4 format to my ipod. The subtitles need to be hardsubbed (imbedded) on the video, though. You could do it yourself by buying a converted online or downloading MVs or dramas that have already been hardsubbed and mp4 formatted. I’ve downloaded a few from d-addicts

    • 25.4 cmrprindle

Why is it when I wait for open thread I always get caught up on other things…

I know the feeling, Keiki55. Happy Friday to you. I hope you’re day worked out in the end.

  26. 26 malta

Anyone watching Material Queen? It’s on Ep 4. I’ve really enjoyed it so far because it’s different than most dramas I’ve seen despite some drama tropes.

Chu man, the female lead in MQ, is like Miri from Ms. Ripley… Both are orphaned, specifically abandoned by their mother’s, and as a result they both want status and money in the world. That is where the similarities end though. Chu man is just such a compelling character…I’m excited to see what will happen in the show.

So if you’re not use TW-dramas Material Queen is a good one to check out although it doesn’t really represent most TW-dramas. The music on there is really good too and introduced me to Van Ness Wu! Makes me feel like there are so many good things out there that I just don’t know about.

I now have TW music as well as K-pop and J-pop on my ipod…

    • 26.1 kaleido

Yes.. I am watching both MQ and DTLY… I enjoy both of them. MQ is not your typical Tdrama… I found MQ very refreshing. I am very surprised to see Lynn’s acting has improved.. in fact i think she is doing a great job as Chu man… Van Ness is ok….. he was better in AC.. hope his acting get better as the drama progress..

  27. 27 SweetiePie54

    Happy Friday!!!

I’ve just started watching Twinkle Twinkle/Sparkling and I am wondering what your thoughts are on it. I’m only a few episodes in and I’m liking certain aspects of it, but I have feeling Geum Ran is going to go into crazy, evil, woe is me, I was switched at birth so I am going to take it out on the girl who had my life that should have been mine, bitch territory (she just has that look about her) and I HATE when that happens. Is it worth watching?

Also, has anyone heard of a drama called Terroir? I read a brief synopisis and it sounded interesting. Does anyone recommend it?

    • 27.1 ck1Oz

Only if you’re desperate. There are worse much worse dramas out there.

The story is okay. The wine talk is interesting. The male lead can act but he is not a very emotional person so it’s not a lively drama. The female lead is also another good actress..The 2nd lead guy is the actor marrying Eugene in a couple of weeks but his character is not very believable.

Like I said it you have absolutely nothing to do and you have watched every good summer drama this year-then go watch it.I guess.

The story pace is definately not fast. The romance aspect is quite meh.Watch it for the wines I guess. That part of the drama is not bad,I live within 2 hrs drive of 3 world renowned wine regions and that aspect of the drama is really quite informative.

      • 27.1.1 SweetiePie54

Thank you for the insight. I was going to put this near the top of my To Watch list but now I’ll leave it way at the bottom :)

    • 27.2 Jomo

Watching TT and you have nailed who GR is.
I do a lot of skipping in this show, but I LOVE the OTP.
I love the Editor with JW.
      LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE them.
Since it is such a long series, I will genuinely miss them when it finishes.

      • 27.2.1 SweetiePie54

It was the OTP that got me interested. I’m only a few episodes in, but they have good chemistry and I’m looking forward to them getting together Maybe I’ll stick with it and just fast-forward when need be.

        Thank You!!

    • 27.3 cmrprindle

SweetiePie54….I read the beginning of your post really quickly and instead of seeing “Happy Friday!!!” I saw “Sweet Friday!!!” Not a bad switch, though, I think!

I love TT to pieces. Jomo’s correct that you have nailed Geum Ran to a tee, but she’s well-played. The move is not always subtle from poor-girl to you-stole-my-life-girl, but she has these moments of characterization clarity where you feel for her. Even though she has turned into full blown Evil 2nd Female Lead, I can still hold out hope that she will go back to the person she started out as and actually get better. Really, the whole thing is well played.

And, to second Jomo the Wise again, LOVE LOVE LOVE the OTP. Unfortunately, I have a bad case of 2nd Male Lead Syndrome too. He’s just so adorable. If he ends up with our 2nd Female Lead w/o her being fully reformed, I’ll be thoroughly disappointed on possibly every level. He deserves better, and she had room for major improvement from the start.

    • 27.4 Cabbage

I really like it, but I get bored waiting for subs to come out and get distracted easily. Don’t watch it for the romance, that’s for sure, but the mother-daughter interactions are interesting. (and heartwrenching, but mostly curious.) And the second male-lead is adorable.

Oh, yeah, she’s eeeeeevil. But, for me, a good villain is important to a good drama. A wishy-washy villain makes for forced conflict. But someone like the stepmom in Shining Inheritance – that woman would tear out your heart, crush it into pieces and dance the cha-cha on it for good measure.

Kim Hyun Joo is so lovely, and has such human reactions to what’s happening to her. She always falters, but she always overcomes.

  28. 28 Venus

    HELLLOOOO!!! everyone Happy Friday……. :D :D

Ok as u all know I’m beyond with City Hunter, however, I’m keeping track of Heartstrings and I really don’t know where the story is heading to be honest. Ep. 6 killed me way too much angst…I though for a minute that it was episode 15 or something cause the crying, the mopping, the stalking, the running around I mean it was a little bit too much. I mean what happened to KW and her lively, spunky character??? I LOVE that about her and Shin is DramaQueen I mean I know 1st love hurst and is painfull and you have the feeling that the world is going to end, but shouldn’t he had a stronger personality than this? I mean clearly the direction of the drama is changing. I know that going into Heartstring was going to be angs all over since is a teen melodrama, but we need balanced here, cause I can’t been seeing Shin and KW mopp around for the next 10 episodes. I mean this is not Dawson’s Creeks that we have 5 seasons to explore all teenage angsts.

    • 28.1 Roxy

Yea i hope the drama doesn’t go into too much crying. Heartstrings was at its best when it was just light and youthful. Lee Shin’s first love is dragging the drama too much and I hope in the later episodes we get to see more of Ki Young and KW-LS interactions.

      • 28.1.1 Venus

I agree Roxy….talk about dragging the story down…at first I was like ohh ok we going down this road, ok I take it is believable, but the minute I noticed she was NOT that into him, and Shin was basically forcing their relationship I was like NOOOO SHIN PLZZZ NO….but with ep. 6 and KW going after him like a lost puppy…I was like KW where is ur pride? ….ok I know is a drama, but can we get some emotional balance in the story? ….. I want to see more singing, dancing, challenges, and more quirky fun with all the characters I mean what happened to that?…..

        • 28.1.1.1 Roxy

Yep, i miss the feisty KW in earlier eps where she didn’t care whether he was the campus idol. I hope that she retains some pride later on and just STOP following lee shin around. But seriously, they should close the LS first love soon, it’s getting really annoying. And also, isn’t this a musical drama? We need more showdowns, challenges, singing, those stuff. LS-KW interactions are very little so far, and it’s disappointing. they should also start focusing more on the Ki Young guy.

          • 28.1.1.1.1 nonski

            righty righty roxy!

Heartstrings kinda wearing out on me already, hope it would change soon enough…

I would really like to see Shin drooling over Kyu woon and not the other way around.

and so looking forward to more musical events.

        • 28.1.1.2 ricky the royal highness

          You speak the TRUTH!!!

I agree about bringing in more balance in the story.

Aigoo~ I missed the first 100 comments in OT. *hits self*

    How is everyone?
I watched Myung Wol The Spy and I liked what I saw :)
It made me wanna be an awesome Hallyu Idol chasing spy myself (watch out Viola, I’m stalking you! Heh)

And it was a GIANT relief to hear Koreans actors speaking proper English. Kudos to Han Ye Seul & Eric. Koreans are soo much sexier when they speak good English :)

    Have a good one, people!

        Hello Pirate Bunny :) haha

    • 29.2 pohonphee

Nope, western people in K drama are better when they speak Korean than when they speak English. :P

      • 29.2.1 ricky the royal highness

        Hey pohonphee :)

Interesting name. Would it mean ‘tree’ by any chance?

I’m always envious of foreigners who get to be in K dramas. It’s like a secret wish of mine.

        • 29.2.1.1 pohonphee

          Bingo

I’ve clicked your name once when it was still orange :) (I like reading blog, if you find it is weird)

My country is near your country.

          • 29.2.1.1.1 ricky the royal highness

That blog was such an embarrassment. I think I was drunk when I made it. It’s going to be deleted soon once I finished ‘prep-ing’ this new blog.

        • 29.2.1.2 samsooki

I was an extra in a movie but they cut the scene where I was just walking in the background.

The shoot took 3 days, I spent a day just waiting around and then I walked around like 4 or 5 times over two days, both at like 5:30 am, and then that was it.

          Then… nothing.

          • 29.2.1.2.1 pohonphee

woot! you were an extra in a movie, like the one in Last Scandal? (I forget the name of the character)

            is it k movie samsooki?

          • 29.2.1.2.2 samsooki

No, it wasn’t a korean movie. It was a small hollywood movie called With Honors (1994), with Joe Pesci, Brendan Fraser and Moira Kelly.

          • 29.2.1.2.3 Shiku

            Did you get paid?
Sigh, this never happens to me.

          • 29.2.1.2.4 cmrprindle

Omo! samsooki, you were a (cut) extra in With Honors?!!! I love the movie so hard! *flails*

          • 29.2.1.2.5 samgetang

I love “With Honors”! This is Brendan Fraser…before he was made silly as George of the Jungle (yikes!)

Sorry your bit part was edited out from the scene, samsooki. How did you get that part, by the way?

        • 29.2.1.3 samsooki

Oh, and there was fake snow on the ground that was like shaving cream that hardens.

I wore black wing-tip shoes that had little designs in the leather and when I walked in the shaving cream snow, the white stuff hardened in the little designs in the leather in my black wing-tip shoes.

It would have been worth it but apparently, I wasn’t screen-worthy. =(

          • 29.2.1.3.1 ricky the royal highness

            Don’t feel bad, samsooki.

            What movie was that?
If I had the chance to star in a drama, I would be very shameless to admit that I hope DB will recap it and I’ll stalk the recaps to see if anyone talks about me. Heh

          • 29.2.1.3.2 pohonphee

@ricky: Don’t worry, if DB doesn’t recap it, you can recap yourself. And I stalk your recap, how is that? :)

          • 29.2.1.3.3 ricky the royal highness

            Yep, it’s a win win situation ;)

    • 29.3 Jomo

Speaking of English in a Kdrama…

In CH, Fake Dad is playing a businessman who works in the US. So why did they give his character a name that everyone cannot pronouce?
      Steve Lee becomes Steveree
Everytime they say his name, I expect to hear:
      Steverino

EVEN HE doesn’t say it right.

Why isn’t he Steve Kim? Steve Young? Steve Choi?

Ahhh such an unimportant detail but it irks me…

      • 29.3.1 ahjummabunny

I love the L to R thing in Korean dramas. I think the Yi that is used in Korean is closer to the Lee we say in English. I think it is very cute.

        • 29.3.1.1 Sethe

What’s interesting is that Korean definitely has two distinct sounds — one that is more like the English “L” and one more like our “R.” They’ll say “Lussia” for “Russia,” for example (first example I could think of).

I’m sure which sound English-speakers hear depends on where the letter is in the word and all that, but maybe Evil Dad should think of himself as Steve Ree (Rhee?) [while telling others he's Steve Lee], and then he’d pronounce it in the way we’d hear as “Lee.”

And what’s with the “Steve,” anyway? Why not choose an English name you can pronounce more easily?

      • 29.3.2 Cynthia

        Hah! You think that’s bad?!

Every time someone says “City Hunter” in the dialogue, it becomes “Shitty Hunter” – and I snerk just a bit…
        :) :)

    • 29.4 cmrprindle

YRH, sir! Happy Friday/Saturday to you! I was tempted by the excellent review of Myung Wol, but now that it’s gotten the royal seal of approval I may just have to watch this one live ;)

Y’know, if you watch Twinkle Twinkle, the young uncle speaks spectacular English. Like the timbre of his voice actually changes betw English and Korean.

      • 29.4.1 ricky the royal highness

I’ll try to remember to find him in that drama :)

        • 29.4.1.1 cmrprindle

YRH, here’s a clip of him speaking English. It’s from ep 29. I tried to find it in context of the episode so you could hear the tonal changes, but I can’t remember exactly when it happens b/c it’s the start of a new scene (maybe Jomo the Wise remembers?). Anywho, here ya go: http://gulliverstravelsmovie.com/watch-video/NEVUT6kmgD4/goingxxcrazy/yoohwans-english.html

    Happy Fridays!

One reason I love this website it that we’re not afraid to critique a drama. Sites like allkpop, tumblr, etc all converse about a drama in such a revered way when I often believe those dramas to be flawed.

I’ve been enjoying Heartstrings lately though! I admit that this drama isn’t the best written one (major complaint: the slow slow slow progression of Kyu Won & Lee Shin’s relationship. SIGH) but it’s surprisingly addicting.

I really hope the story will start picking up with the musical & the competition between the characters. & possibly Kyu Won & Kiyoung….?

    • 30.1 ricky the royal highness

Oh YEAH! Kw & Ky lovey-dovey, which makes Shin jealous? Bring it on!!

And the music. Please, I want to hear more of those wonderful traditional instruments.

    • 30.2 Roxy

I AGREE with the Kyu Won and Ki Young. Maybe with that, LS will realize that he misses KW. It’s his turn to be jealous.

    • 30.3 zgznoona

Sorry to say, I have a feeling it’s going to be Ky-young & Hee-joo. But Hee-joo is already jealous fo Kyu-won

Just worry that the drama is to slow to take care of all the stuff it need to address, and we are already in ep 6

      • 30.3.1 Roxy

Yea i got that feeling too, but if it’s Hee Joo and Ki Young what about the drummer guy? HJ was starting to soften up to him.

        • 30.3.1.1 zgznoona

          The always available Bo-woon

          • 30.3.1.1.1 Roxy

That’s true but i feel that the drummer should be with Hee Joo haha.

  31. 31 Jomo

    Hello OT Family!
So nice to be here with you…I haven’t been able to post anything much lately because:
I AM COMPLETELY CONSUMED BY LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL.

I love this show. I love this show. I love this show.

A few months back, someone on this site posed the question “Is it worth it to watch Dramas that have a lot of episodes?”
The answer was, “If you are going to spend your time watching 60 episodes of anything, would your time be best spent on 3 – 4 low quality short ones, or 1 really high quality long one?”

That is what got me to watch Giant and Twinkle Twinkle, and even CYHMH.

Life is Beautiful is 60 episodes. I am on 38, I think.

The entire cast is fabulous, but right away I fell in love with Kim Sang Joong who is Big Uncle. I am not exaggerating when I tell you I smile ear to ear the second his scenes begin until the end. I replay them after I watch them, and then go back and replay them again.

(By the way, it is the same actor as Fake (Triangle) Dad in City Hunter, so it is really hard for me to call him Evil Dad now.)

The reason he is so much fun to watch is the people he plays against: Little Uncle and Chief Officer.
They set up his character so well, YOU feel his disgust/dismay at him having to deal with these two.

I think they could have made a full length feature film with him as the star, but it works very, too, to be in this big ensemble cast. I guess he is the main comic relief, but also some nice hot romance, too.

The show has a highly publicized gay couple, which I also fell in love with, so if that is not your cup of tea, steer clear of LIB.

Who else watched this? What do you think?
    (PLEASE no spoilers.)
I am taking my time with this one, and don’t want it EVER to end!

    • 31.1 ahjummabunny

It really is a great show.I love all of the story lines except the nam gyuri storyline. I found her character sooo annoying. I mean deliberately being a bad sister in law???? Some of the storyline with the couple with a daughter irritated me and I didn’t like that the mother took in her husband again. It’s like brady bunch for grown ups. It really is good. where are you watching it?

      • 31.1.1 Jomo

        Downloading it.

Yes, the 49 Days girl’s story is contrived. She is set up as so sweet and confident. Why sould she care about her SIL?

      • 31.1.2 Jomo

By the way, I am finding the subs from WithS2 are outstanding for this show.
They include all the nuances of the language, explain the idioms, and use the names that come out of the actors’ mouth, instead of substituting their given name.

I hate when the character says for example, “Hyung” and the subs say “Byung Jun.”

        • 31.1.2.1 ahjummabunny

me too that is such a peeve! because sometimes that oppa, or hyung is sooo important to the story and if you’re watching at work without sound you miss sooo much!

          • 31.1.2.1.1 Sethe

Completely agree. And I love that you say you watch at work without sound!

        • 31.1.2.2 girlatsea

Gah, I hate it too. Once I see subs that change up what they said, I search for alternative subs. I get especially irritated when I see subs like that on Dramafever. You would think that they would be able provided us with high quality subs. :/

          • 31.1.2.2.1 ahjummabunny

I feel the same way about dramafever. I always think they get us and I feel hurt when things like that happen.

    • 31.2 pohonphee

I have the LIB file and the sub. I have watched the 1st episode, but I got distracted with SG that time so I left it behind. It seem I’ll have to pick it up again after I’ve done with My Princess (Is Mr. Hand Towel beautiful in that one? That eyebrow, that eyelashes…)

      • 31.2.1 Jomo

Mr. Hand Towel is without peer in SK for male beauty!
I prolly watched those eps 6 times each to see him in suits, in tight t’s, in shower water — in everything!

        Even CSW!

        • 31.2.1.1 Sethe

I must have misunderstood. You cannot possibly be saying that Mr. Hand Towel is more beautiful than CSW?

Well, I guess that depends on the definition of “beauty.” Cause I’d probably say that Lee Min ho is more “beautiful” than CSW, but in terms of SEX appeal (as in, who I’d want to shamelessly jump all over the moment I saw him), I don’t think anyone surpasses CSW… although in terms of BEAUTY, I think LMH might win that contest. I’m content to admire LMH from a distance (like a beautiful statue), but I don’t think I could be anywhere near CSW without feeling the pheromones or hormones or whatever you want to call it, and wanting to just… plaster myself to him…

          • 31.2.1.1.1 Jomo

Yes, to be sure, CSW is without peer for “the man I want to be stranded on a desert island with for the rest of eternity” Sex appeal, intelligence, sense of humor, emotional intelligence, face, physique, etc.

But to me, subjective, Mr. Hand Towel’s beauty in moments of quite reflection (and staring) have brought me to tears. In almost any photo of him, or any moving picture.
I can’t explain it. He just moves me.

I made a couple of videos that I should repost to megavideo since YT shut me down.

          • 31.2.1.1.2 izzie

Jomo! I finally saw the CSW full beard DB header! :)

            So delish! ;)

CSW vs. MHT. Do we really have to choose?

          • 31.2.1.1.3 Jomo

He is so hot in that, innit?
            You are right, izzie.
            Why should we choose?

I don’t feel like they are in the same weight class.

Maybe CSW is heavy weight and THT is featherweight?

          • 31.2.1.1.4 pohonphee

I got my own beautiful statue: Kim Jae-wook.And he leaves me for two years without anything to watch. My heart breaks to million pieces.

I like Mr. Hand Towel when he is on move, even just an eyebrow move :D

          • 31.2.1.1.5 Pat

“I don’t feel like they are in the same weight class.”

@Jomo: You’re right. It would be like choosing between Aragorn and Legolas. It hurts the brain just thinking about it, and even the hormones protest against this kind of dilemma.

Not gonna choose. Not me. I’m greedy. ;)

    • 31.3 MJP

      Hello Jomo! *HUGS*

I like the short dramas, not the long ones.

I just marathoned “Star No Koi” 11 episodes in to nights. It had funny parts, maddening parts, no evil female second lead, just a real-life type of struggle.

I also started “Zenkai Girl”. It seems to be a good one too. It’s about a lawyer who gets a job at a lawfirm being assigned to nanny her boss’ 6 year old.

There were more things I watched, but I don’t want to spill my beans all in one place. I am going to sprinkle my drama beans all over the OT. :-)

    • 31.4 cmrprindle

Jomo the Wise! *hugs* I’m not watching Life is Beautiful, but I agree with your point about watching one fantastic long show vs. 3-4 so so shows.

    • 31.5 Pat

I have mentioned LIB before because i too fell totally in love.
It is by far the most realistic, funny, charming, well acted and well written drama EVER. I am re watching it now because of
evil dad reminding me of his part in this show. There are NO
poor performances in this story and I swear I could watch these people for years, like old time American soap operas
but it is as good as a sophisticated movie with tons of heart
but none of it is over done. The wrirter got a well deserved award in spite of the predictable controversy. Every couple story was well developed and interesting. In future I will watch anything this writer gets on the air. Really loved the old couple too!

Happy Friday everyone! been a while since I’ve been on here, but a busy holiday has prevented me from watching dramas. But I’ve been reading a bunch of recaps, so I have to say thanks so much to all the recappers for keeping up with all these awesome shows. Where do I send presents? :D

    • 34.1 ahjummabunny

recappers are awesome! Let’s sub and send javabeans an amazon gift card for christmas.

      • 34.1.1 cmrprindle

…this is not a bad idea. wonder how the ladies feel about it.

  35. 35 Jelly

I’m also got addicted to Heartstrings surprisingly ..but I’m not liking where the story is going at the moment. Episode 6 is just going south to my opinion. Focus is too much on the Ballerina – LS angst.

Really hope they get out of it ….they should focus on the musical production , KW story line…..after all she’s the reason I watch this show.

  36. 36 chace

Big Uncle and Representative are my favorite OTP
in this drama. They are hilarious together. The Odd Couple, if you will. It’s so funny whenever Big Uncle rolls up the sleeves of his perfectly starched white shirt, puts on latex gloves, and proceeds to attack the mountain of diry dishes in the sink with steely resolve. The Representative’s uncontrollable “hee-haw” laugh has me in stitches too. And it’s nice how the drama portrays how a middle-aged couple can be warmly affectionate without being sugarly sweet. I love the parents too. Kim Min Jae and Yang Byung Tae have got to be the best kdrama parents ever!

    • 36.1 ahjummabunny

I’m telling you that is one thing I loved about this drama. and when I saw him again as jin pyo I couldn’t remember where I saw him before and then when I did I can only laugh at him as some supposed badass.

      • 36.1.1 chace

He was really badass in Eight Days as King Jeongjo as well.
Now that was one killer drama!

        • 36.1.1.1 Jomo

          How many eps?

          • 36.1.1.1.1 chace

8 compact episodes of a superb drama.

    • 36.2 Jomo

YES! But secretly, Big Uncle is happy doing the dishes, I think.
I always worry about his ties, though. Dae Pyo-nim needs to get him an acceptable apron.

Parents are fab, too. I just love watching her face as she worries, and considers, and simmers. What great actress!
Oh! The interactions with Big Uncle and his Hyung are great, too. Hyung just keeps giggling uncontrolably whenever he sees Big Uncle and Dae Pyo-nim – like me!

      • 36.2.1 ahjummabunny

I love that actress that plays the mum! I watched a few dramas just for her I hate you but it’s fine. I just love her whole presence. And she has such an infectious laugh she reminds me of an aunt of mine actually.

  37. 37 lvsanchez

Happy Friday to all!! I am currently watching You’ve Fallen for Me and 9 End 2 Outs. The first one is sweet and adorable, but I haven’t caught up to episodes 5-6 yet, so I’m scared it will take a turn for the worst after hearing everyone else ranting about the melodrama. The article about the writer getting pressured by low ratings really doesn’t reassure me.

And 9 End 2 Outs… found it on Javabeans’ ratings and it’s cute cute cute. I never watched Playful Kiss and was not interested bc of Kim Hyun Joong mostly, but I’m curious now since I’m loving Lee Tae Sung! Such a hottie, and good actor!

But as much as I love these slower-paced, cute romcoms… I’m missing my crack addictions… the crazy cliffhanger dramas like 49 Days. Should I start City Hunter?

    • 37.1 zgznoona

No doubt about it. You need to watch CH. I was reluctant at first, and catch it after 8 ep had aired already. It’s good

    • 37.2 Roxy

Oh i loved 9 End 2 Outs! The idea of two best friends (for 30 years) getting together was just perfect. Starting out friends is still the best in terms of relationships IMO.

Although I’m not a big fan of Playful Kiss, it doesn’t hurt to watch it. I got annoyed at Oh Ha Ni, but overall the drama was enjoyable. It also helps that KHJ is such an eye-candy.

And you should definitely watch City Hunter! Cliff-hangers at the end of each eps. You just won’t be able to stop watching :)

      • 37.2.1 ricky the royal highness

I love 9 Ends 2 Outs to bits!!!

    • 37.3 girlatsea

I loved 9 End 2 Outs too!! I’m still waiting/searching for a dramas with a similar premise but it’s no where to be found. Any recommendations?

And YES, start City Hunter. Save for the first two episodes or so, the cliffhangers are ridiculous. Seriously, it’s so bad I watch the episodes raw.

    • 37.4 sm

Loved 9 Ends 2 Outs. It’s one of my faves!

Definitely YES for City Hunter. It’s AWESOME and SO, SO ADDICTING!!! And Lee Min Ho is just so amazingly HOT!!

  38. 38 Jelly

Also watching Warrior Beak Dong Soo…. so good !!! seriously….

I’m feeling sad cause no one’s recapping this show….it became a habit of mine to come and read the recaps after watching an episode like City Hunter and You’ve fallen for me.

    • 38.1 ahjummabunny

hmm it is the show that replaces lie to me right? I think lie to me is ending soon on tkc they had the episode where she falls down a pit last week.

    • 38.2 mskololia

      Happy OT everyone!

I agree about WBDS. It’s terrific.

  39. 39 Ladymoonstone143

    Happy Friday everyone!

As I am officially craving for LMH (always crave food when am preggy)…I keep on re watching City Hunter…esp where his face is the only one on the screen. My 7 year old was like…that is the guy from BOF…he looks much better Mommy, I love his hair…lol. I try to not let my daughters see me watching all this kdrama because my in-laws wanted my kids to speak their native tongue which is Italian…but when kpop and kdrama in my house…my youngest knows Anyung already…lol

Wish I can watch HP this weekend but hubby wanted to watch Horrible Bosses. I already dragged him to Transformers so that means, I have to give way this time.

As no English sub for RT yet…and watch the finale raw..it seems as it was ok. Probably will catch up on Warrior or I need romance this weekend…haven’t start watching them yet.

    Take care everyone….

    • 39.1 ahjummabunny

lmao you are funny ms. ladymoonstone. Happy Friday, have a great weekend.

      • 39.1.1 Ladymoonstone143

        Thanks Ahjummabunny….you have a great weekend too…:)

    • 39.2 judy

me, too! he has gotten so much more handsome with the shorter haircut. he is such a charismatic actor. LOVE him so much, i am addicted too. i’m a mom as well, and i was putting off a lot of stuff to catch up on city hunter episodes. haha.

  40. 40 zgznoona

I almost forgot to thank whomever recommended That Fool last week. I really enjoy it.

    • 40.1 ahjummabunny

isn’t it kyuddd!!! I want to watch it again, but I honestly can’t stand segments these days. Do you watch in english or spanish?

      • 40.1.1 zgznoona

I usually watch dramas with English subs. I got used to the segments, I haven’t dare to try downloading raw+Sub and put together. Somehow I fear it’ll be too complicated, and it’ll take me too long .
        Might be wrong

        • 40.1.1.1 ahjummabunny

I’m getting closer and closer to trying the downloading. I usually watch on crunchyroll, hulu or dramafever. It’s been so long since I watched with segments but I made an exception for that fool. I really wish that the lead actor will have another drama.

          • 40.1.1.1.1 Shiku

I got fed up with dramafever because the ads freeze and ruin my show or for some strange reasons the episodes start over again by itself.

Try downloading its great and you don’t have to watch ads, but you have to be careful and have a kick-ass security not to get viruses

          • 40.1.1.1.2 cmrprindle

Shiku, this has been happening to me with Best Love and drives me nuts! Normally I watch on dramacrazy or mysoju, but the translators there weren’t that great in the beginning, leaving out fairly big and/or important chunks of dialogue so I’ve been watching with dramafever. Even with my ad blocker blocking the segment ads (something I didn’t know it did) DF will still freeze up on me, kill my show, and sometimes weird out the timing.

        • 40.1.1.2 SweetiePie54

I did the downloading thing this week for the first time and it was easier than I thought it would be. I had to re-sync the subs a little bit but it was surprisingly easy with the player I was using.

    • 40.2 ahjummabunny

I think it was anu that recommended it btw.

      • 40.2.1 ricky the royal highness

        Wasn’t it me? *sad face*

        • 40.2.1.1 ahjummabunny

ah maja yo! It was your royal highness. I forgot. I’m sorry.

        • 40.2.1.2 zgznoona

          Thanks to you too.

      • 40.2.2 zgznoona

        THANKS ANU

  41. 41 sierrablue

Happy Friday everyone! just got back from a week in Taiwan…missed all of the current shows but spent my evenings in the hotel watching Korean dramas on 4 different channels.

What did I miss? City Hunter I bet was great…ugh off to bed now.Hope everyone will have a great relaxing weekend!

    • 41.1 ahjummabunny

      have a great weekend sierrablue!

    • 41.2 cmrprindle

Welcome back sierrablue! Hope you slept well!

  42. 42 Sethe

I have a little story that no one in my real life would probably appreciate, but that some of my fellow CSW enthusiasts here might enjoy.

One of the classes that I teach these days is these three girls who’re 3rd/4th grade (really smart and absolutely adorable). Anyway, they recently saw the picture of CSW that comes up when I turn on my laptop, and since then they’ve been obsessed with the idea of me marrying him (sweethearts that they are). [And yes, I did mention that he's married, but they don't think that's important, in relation to my attractions... what darlings they are!]

I had them do a creative writing assignment this week, and all three of them wrote about me marrying CSW. Fantastic in itself, first of all, but the way they wrote it was even more adorable.

First, they described CSW as falling in love with me at first glance (his eyes would pop out and become hearts, and his heart would pound wildly, in the shape of a heart popping out of his chest). Then, he’d beg me to marry him, and I’d “be tough” and say I’d have to think about it. They said he’d beg me to marry him, and I’d still be tough (meanwhile I was like, he wouldn’t have to beg me, duh…).

In the end, I agreed to marry him, and we had a beautiful wedding (complete with adorable illustrations), and we lived happily ever after. SO cute…

    • 42.1 ricky the royal highness

      Fellow teacher, annyeong!!!

Your students sounds adorable. I can never reveal my love for Kdramas or Yoo In Na to my students. High School kids are not so understanding, you see. That’s why Ricky The Royal Highness and Mr Ricky the Biology teacher MUST stay separate :)

      • 42.1.1 Sethe

Yeah, well, this class ends soon, and then I’ll have to deal mostly with bratty elementary school boys and sullen and unmotivated middle school students.

Although, since I’m having visa issues, it may all be a moot point, as my teaching career in this country may come to an abrupt end.

      • 42.1.2 Cabbage

Poor Unlucky you…I keep a picture of Kim Hyun Joon on the outside of my teacher planner, and a pig-rabbit hanging off my pencil-case-that-carries-everything-I-might-need-in-a-classroom-emergency-except-bandaids-maybe-I-should-get-some-bandaids.

For my birthday, my students gave me pictures of Jang Guen Suk.

    • 42.2 zgznoona

      lol
      You students are so cute.

    • 42.3 izzie

      *hugs* to your students. :)

so young and yet they already got the essence of many kdramas.

    • 42.4 ahjummabunny

sooo kyuddd!!! I have to applaud you for your proselytizing! Although I don’t think cha seung won needs that.
I tried to convince someone that “ding dong” is what cool people say when they mean “you’re right” but that guy thinks I find arguers attractive.

      • 42.4.1 Sethe

Proselytizing? All I did was show his picture (a badass photo from his Athena days), and Cha Seung-won did the rest. His charisma/attraction/gravitational pull/whatever is so great that even little girls can see the magic!

(Okay, or maybe they just saw that Ms. Sethe was totally in love with him :) )

    • 42.5 Jomo

They must be so cute in little girl handwriting!

I am jealous of your fictional love stories.

    • 42.6 Shiku

      So sweet

    • 42.7 asianromance

That is so precious!!!! I’m so jealous!

    • 42.8 cmrprindle

Awwww! How adorable! Mom caught a still of CSW and thought he was Tom Cruise.

      • 42.8.1 Sethe

Tom Cruise, really?!? That’s so sad. Even in his Top Gun days, he was never someone I found attractive (although, given my penchant for dark eyes and dark hair, I probably should’ve). I hope Mom at least loves Tom Cruise!

        • 42.8.1.1 ahjummabunny

that is pretty sad! I never got the tom cruise hype but I’ve always loved bad guys. I’d say cha seung won is like a cross between clive owen and cary grant, but sexier and scarier in a good way.

          • 42.8.1.1.1 Sethe

Yeah, I don’t know what English-speaking actors I’d compare CSW to. Interesting thought… I think I’ll go contemplate it right now ;)

          • 42.8.1.1.2 cmrprindle

In the shot she caught of him, CSW was in profile all Dokkofied, and had the big square sunglasses on, so this wasn’t a full-on face shot she got.

I wonder if the appeal of Tom Cruise is like a less extreme version of the appeal of Adrian Brody. By that I mean, I don’t find Adrian Brody visually appealing at all, but once he starts moving/acting/emoting I am totally drawn in. I did not get the love affair with Adrian Brody until I finally saw him in a movie. Tom Cruise, on the other hand, is kinda cute, coupled with a compelling personality and you’ve got Whoevers Sexiest Guy Of the Year and stuff.

            It’s a theory. ;)

          • 42.8.1.1.3 mcalkdrama

Tom cruise??? but someone was passing by and spotted my desktop pic of CSW (the screencap for the best pasta mash up post) and they were like why do you have a picture of Johnny Depp….

          • 42.8.1.1.4 cmrprindle's phone

mcalkdrama, LOL! I’d've preferred Johnny Depp, personally.

        • 42.8.1.2 Cabbage

          Legend. Tights. Cough. Shutting up.

  43. 43 cmrprindle's phone

Happy Friday/Saturday, OT! Managed to get outside for lunch (blessed be!) so I won’t be reading comments til I get home tonight. Best Love, though? Fantastic! Life? Mildly crazy. Said more than 5 words to Hot Asian guy yesterday, but it was b/c I was in “trouble” so I doubt that counts. Cute Spanish Guy, though? Still friendly!

Later! *BIG HUGS unnies and oppas* :)

    • 43.1 ricky the royal highness

Your phone is making more and more cameo appearances these days, cmr. Haha :)

      Happy working!

      • 43.1.1 cmrprindle

Once I discovered this fancy feature called Column View that kept me from going blind reading tiny text, or losing a finger scrolling back and forth across the screen, I was unstoppable! I knew getting a smartphone would be dangerous.

Luckily work is over, woohoo! Thanks for the well wishes, YRH.

    • 43.2 izzie

      Happy Weekend, CMR! :)

So what was Asian Guy’s reaction? :)

I have an idea… you mentioned about learning Spanish… why not ask Cute Spanish Guy to tutor you? ;)

      Big hug to you!

      • 43.2.1 cmrprindle

        izzie! *hugs* How’s the mouth?

HAG all but snatched the paperwork he needed from me out of my hand. Le sigh. Maybe it wasn’t a snatch… Anywho, he was okay when I saw him before end-of-day today, but no more chatty than usual :-/

Anywho, learn spanish from CSG! Great idea! He often asks me to explain English idioms. Why not go explanation-for-explanation. I already told him how horribly my Spanish is. Maybe he’ll take pity on me *hopeful*

        • 43.2.1.1 izzie

mouth is good. thanks for asking. :) I still have two more visits to the dentist before the root canal is completed.

LOL@”HAG”. :) Maybe he’s just too shy to have a longer conversation. As for CSG… that’s great that he tends to interact more. (OMG, have I mentioned yet that I lurrrv listening to a Spanish guy talking?)

“He often asks me to explain English idioms. Why not go explanation-for-explanation.”
That’s great! Then maybe you should prepare a list of things that you want to learn in Spanish and every time he asks you for explanation/translation, you throw him one from your learning list. :) If he asks why, tell him that you’re planning to go on vacation in Spain. ;)

I’m feeling giddy about this. :) Please do update us on the developments.

          • 43.2.1.1.1 cmrprindle

LOL! Sure thing. Now I just have to figure out stuff to ask him. Hrrrmmmm…

It also helps that CSG is right down the hall from me. Honestly, if he stands on the nearer side of his cube and pops his head, I can see him from my desk. HAG, on the other hand, I’d have to make a special trip to see, and I’ve yet to have a reason to see him when I go there, just his officemate. Well, until Wednesday’s incident. But that’s not the kinda thing I want to repeat! *still feels bad*

    • 43.3 Jomo

Trouble can be good sometimes, if you are noticed.

Details if possible, but not if embarrassing.

      • 43.3.1 cmrprindle

Let me apologize now for vague-ing this up. My own paranoid privacy issues aside, I am always afraid that he is somehow one of the regular OT lurkers and will figure out that (a) he’s the one being talked about and (2) he knows the girl doing the talking!

That said…We all have to give his office paperwork on Weds. I’ve seen some of the stuff my bosses have to go through, and luckily I’m part of the less complicated group of people. That also means I can have it in to him at the crack of dawn since my forms are pretty straightforward. This week, however, I needed input from one my bosses. The one I’d normally go to is out on vacay (few ppl deserve it more, he’s such a nice guy). Trying to catch the other boss is like trying to catch dandelion fluff: you have to be quick, you have to think ahead, and you have to be darn lucky. I was quick, I thought ahead, but luck was not on my side.

I got called by someone else about the missing paperwork, went back to my boss, and got what I thought was an answer. Later that afternoon I had to go to HAG’s floor to talk to someone else in his department about an entirely different issue. Popped my head in to say hi to “Andy” and what do I hear that makes my heart stutter? “CMR? I need your paperwork.” Which sets off this whole “I thought Boss Guy gave it to you. Oh a blank doc doesn’t count as additional information? Are you sure he didn’t send anything else? So you need actual words, huh? I’ll get it to you today…” Seriously, a whole conversation.

That was yesterday just before lunch? I didn’t give him the stuff he needed until almost closing time (for me) and just felt like a heel for the rest of the evening. I probably scripted enough apology, please-don’t-be-mad, I’m-sorry-I-made-the-busy-day-busier scenes that I could have filled a week’s worth of dramas. I may have even gotten a story out of it, but that’s for later.

Today I went past there to deal with the other issue, and gave a wee apology. I’m still stuck on doing something, though. Apparently I show I care by doing. And hugging. But since hugging is often not socially acceptable (don’t know why) I default to do. Andy, I know, likes tea. Dunno what HAG likes. :-/

        And lengthy that was. Pooh.

        • 43.3.1.1 Jomo

Too bad about the mix-up. Even thinking about stuff like that that happened to me decades ago makes my stomach hurt!
This was from the VP of Sales at the time:
“Next time, Jomo, instead of wasting a whole piece of paper for your month end report, how ’bout just using a sticky pad? That should cover all the detail you gave me.”

LOL at the hugging as not-safe-for-work!

Just keep your eyes peeled for what he brings to work, or even smells like! You can find something he likes. Or just go with what everyone likes and give him M&Ms.

          • 43.3.1.1.1 cmrprindle

Omigosh, Jomo! I would have felt about an inch tall if HAG or anyone else had said something like what your VP of Sales said. Or been spitting mad, depending on the circumstances, but still!

Between HAG and “Andy” there is a box of assorted bag candies, and Andy keeps various nuts around (he seems to prefer cashews, almonds and pistachios). But I shall take your advice and keep my eyes and nose peeled. And now I have an excuse to sniff him ;) I wonder how that will go over.

            “Um, CMR?”

“Yeah, HAG? Hi, by the way.”

“Yeah, hi… Uh, you’re standing kinda close to me?”

“Oh. Sorry. I’m trying to figure out what kind of cologne you wear, if any, or your favorite candy so I can sorta kinda repay you for making last week harder than it had to be. Golly, you smell good. What’s the name of the cologne you wear?”

Maybe I’ll just buy him breakfast one morning…

          • 43.3.1.1.2 Jomo

All I can picture is you and HAG with the Police as the OST:
            “Don’t stand…
            Don’t stand…
Don’t stand so close to me…(close to me)”

            Does HAG really smell good?
            That gets me every time!

          • 43.3.1.1.3 Sethe

Regarding harsh words from superiors (and ouch, I feel your pain, Jomo and cmrprindle :( )…

In my experience, no one beats doctors for saying unncessarily harsh and mean things to their underlings, and going out of their way to hurt and humiliate you in front of your peers. I still have so many scars from my unfortunate years in the medical field.

          • 43.3.1.1.4 cmrprindle

Jomo the Wise: if he smells good and he’s secretly geeky I may be completely undone! Omigosh a guy that smells good. I’ve been known to sniff the air after a good-smelling man passes, just to enjoy the yumminess a moment longer (hopefully it’s not too obvious!). As it stands, though, there’s no waft of yumminess coming from HAG. One of my bosses, yes, and that makes things a wee awkward for me b/c I otherwise find him uninteresting (thank God).

Sethe: my cousin worked w/doctors and she had similar horror stories. She’s completely, and I mean completely, unflappable so she wasn’t much effected, but I was embarrassed on her behalf hearing them!

    • 43.4 Shiku

Ithink it counts coz it went from 0 to 5

      • 43.4.1 cmrprindle

From your fingers to HAG’s brain, Shiku!

    • 43.5 ahjummabunny

      Happy weekend prindler!

      • 43.5.1 cmrprindle

Hey Jumma! I saw “prindler” and burst out laughing. :D I had a friend in college who called me something similar. She was the only one…until you :)

    • 43.6 cmrprindle

Not that ppl care, per se, but I just got the twitter if anyone’s interested in following…or letting me know where you are so I can follow. Ah the joy of having DB tweeting on my phone. It is greater than I could have even imagined!

      • 43.6.1 ahjummabunny

hmm db on twitter that’s true. You guys are forcing me into social whatsits, I’m not sure if I’m ready yet!

        • 43.6.1.1 cmrprindle

Hey, don’t do it if you don’t feel comfortable with it. I mean I changed my DB handle to match up with my comfort level here. My mum and aunt are anti-social network. One of my “brothers” is fairly anti. I keep up with him through my e-sister in law. We’ll just make do with hugs and commentary we get from you here :)

          • 43.6.1.1.1 ahjummabunny

Do I give hugs? Hmm I must be drinking a lot more than I realize to go around hugging. hmm.

          • 43.6.1.1.2 cmrprindle

lol…Jumma, not that I can think of now that I am thinking about it. If I didn’t know that you were local, I’d think you were a friend of mine using a particularly unexpected screen name.

  44. 44 ricky the royal highness

Watching 9 Ends 2 Outs really made me think. Is it okay for best friends to start dating each other? Two people who grew up and are very close to each other, will it work? I myself have a girl best friend (known each other since we were 13) and I sometimes ‘see’ her differently. This raises another issue – Can a man and a woman BE best friends?

What are your thoughts on dating best friends and being best friends with a member of the opposite sex?

    • 44.1 Roxy

Well to me, I think it IS possible to be best friends with the opposite sex. IMO being friends first before starting a relationship is still the best as i said before. You understand each other and trust one another more :)
It does come with responsibilities like the worries that if the relationship didn’t work out you may lose your friendship. It just depends on whether you’re willing to risk everything to be with him/her.

Lol i really don’t know if i’m helping here but i’m trying xD

      • 44.1.1 ricky the royal highness

I really appreciate your opinion, Roxy. Thanks.

    • 44.2 pohonphee

All the movies and dramas about how best friend turns to be girl/boy friend make it seem to be prevalent in IRL, but it doesn’t .

I don’t have one, nor my friends.

Why the main leads in k drama have to have a male – female romantic relationship?

I just finish Royal Family, and the relationship between the 1st female and male leads is just odd. How a mother like affection turns to be lover kind of affection? I wish it stayed in noona – dongsaeng relationship but not in romantic term.

      • 44.2.1 ahjummabunny

did it really change? I think she thinks of him fondly, but they don’t cross the line.

        • 44.2.1.1 pohonphee

I start to doubt her feeling for him still pure noona – dongsaeng without romantic baggage when she showed a little bit jealousy on ji hoon (ji sung) and hyun jin (the chaebol girl) closer relationship.

They don’t cross the line, but I can’t make my self believe that their relationship not in romantic term considering the ending.

And this drama synopsis just irk me, I prefer both of their feeling keep in mystery from start till the end, if they want to give us open ending. They can give us the signs on the relationship to go that way but still make us guessing, if they want to. That will make the drama “darker”, more complex characters.

          • 44.2.1.1.1 ahjummabunny

I loved the kiss anyway. It looked so good on his end I wish it was me.

      • 44.2.2 malta

I loved Royal Family till the last 10minutes of the last episode. I was just confused by the end and didn’t understand their relationship anymore or if they were still with us on this earth…confusion. I could see their noona-dongsaeng relationship turning into a romantic one. (That happened pretty convincingly in What’s up Fox, one of my faves! Plus they have that kind of relationship all the time but reversed with an oppa instead of a noona…) Didn’t Ji hoon pretty much grow up in love with In sook and was just waiting for her to get her stuff together? As you can see, I am still confused.

yeah royal paemaeri can be quite mind boggling. I can’t say I have it all figured out I just started watching it a second time. I think insook loved her husband and only considered jihoon a dongsaeng but at the end the feeling is starting to change for her. It’s obvious jihoon was always mad about her, but using the president and lawyer kim’s relationship as a parallel I don’t think their relationship will ever become romantic. but that’s what makes the pseudo-cliffhanger strange for me when I believe the letter, I think but how are they living in a strange land? Isn’t he frustrated? and when I disbelieve the letter I think maybe those gazes meant something happened at the house.

    • 44.3 Shiku

It can go both ways. Some people can stay friends and nothing happens becoz the timing isn’t right, priorities or they value their friendship. I personally think being such good friends is a great way to start a relationship becoz you know each other so well and can accept each others flaws.
On a personal note, I wish my sister would go out with her best friend becoz he is such a great guy, hardworking and is always there for her. The problem is he has too much baggage – has like 6 kids who he has to support.

      • 44.3.1 ricky the royal highness

I think timing is important. When you lose the Perfect Time to jump into a romantic relationship, you lose a valuable window of opportunity which may never come again. There’s also the ‘boredom’ issue, in my opinion. You’ve known each other for such a long time that you can practically finish all his/her sentences. It’s not good for a healthy romantic relationship – the thrill of getting know someone or courtship is gone, so to speak.

p/s the blog which I mentioned earlier is my blog which I did when I was a wee bit immature.

        • 44.3.1.1 cmrprindle

I have missed out on dating opportunities b/c the timing was off. I was interested and he wasn’t. Then he was interested and I had moved on, so that can be way tricky.

    • 44.4 ahjummabunny

I have an 8 year old relationship a friend and we’ve had bouts of romance, it didn’t work for us because his dating persona is different from the person who is usually my friend. He doesn’t communicate as well, he’s more self conscious, criticisms about me as a person are harsher. Our romance usually starts when he’s going away for a while and dissolves during the time he’s away but it adds a layer to our friendship that makes it better. I don’t think we would still be friends if it wasn’t for me because he’s always awkward when we meet again. I think it’s possible for men and women to be friends if both people want to be friends, I don’t like when people say let’s be friends and then try to get romantic that seems sneaky.

      • 44.4.1 ricky the royal highness

The ‘layer of friendship’ you mentioned is interesting. I think my best friend and I have that too. The chemistry is there – we even acknowledged it ourselves, but we’re fine as we are.

Yes, I hate it when people try to be ‘friends’ when the romantic intention is already planted originally in the brain. Me thinks that romantic relationships should happen organically. I have no idea if I’m making sense, Bunny.

    • 44.5 cmrprindle

I have never dated one of my good friends, although they are invariably who I fall for. Sometimes, as I mention later, it’s a matter of timing: I’m into it and he’s not, then he’s into it and I’m not. Other times, what I like about the person as a friend would be too intense as a romantic partner. I love my friends, but some of them I can only take in doses, lol!

That said, I think you can marry your best friend. I’ve heard that advice given. You figure they’re someone who knows you in an intimate way that has nothing to do with sex, they care about you deeply, they’ve already proven that they will stick with you through thick and thin. The magic part of the equation is attraction. I sometimes try to imagine kissing SoAndSo. If I can’t do that, then there’s no spark. And I’ll try that occasionally b/c, y’know, feelings are fickle.

I also totally believe that men and women can be besties. I’m an only child, but I have many “brothers” who I am very close with. With one of them, he and I briefly joked about being in a relationship, but we know it wouldn’t work out. There’s also a study out there somewhere that shows the younger you are when you know someone, the less likely you are to think of them romantically. So if you really grew up with them from childhood, they’ll always be like a sib to you. Or so says the study.

But, yeah, I don’t fall for guys I meet on the street or at a party, etc. Nice to look at, fun to be with for that moment, possibly quite skeevy (I find being hit on very weird), but not romantic potential in my eyes. Invariably the guy I really fall for is the guy I know. He’s the one I can imagine kissing.

      • 44.5.1 ricky the royal highness

wow cool insights, cmr! Thanks soo much. I learned a lot in the OT today :)

  45. 45 hapacalgirl

Its always a risk to start dating your best friend because sometimes it can end very badly and thus you lose that amazing friend. But at the same time some of the best relationships started as friends, so it really comes down to the individuals themselves. People will disagree but I actually think that guys and girls can be best friends. In fact I have a couple male best friends that I am in no way attracted to which is funny considering most of my friends actually find them highly attractive. The cool thing about having a close/best friend of the opposite sex is that in a lot of cases they are willing to be more blunt with you then say someone of the same gender. Like my guy friends will call me on my stuff or when I am in the wrong while many of by gal friends will sugarcoat it.

    • 45.1 hapacalgirl

this was meant to be a response to Ricky the Royal Highness’s comment about 9 ends 2 outs

    • 45.2 Roxy

I agree with this. You said it perfectly :)

    • 45.3 ricky the royal highness

Agree 100% with what you said, hapacalgirl.

My best friend would seriously reprimand me if I’m in the wrong. And I would do the same thing if she’s showing too much skin. Haha. That’s how we watch out for one another.

This, totally! Which is part of how I end up with so many “brothers” wanted or otherwise.

    • 46.2 pohonphee

I’ve been in deep in love with Jang Kiha and the Faces. Their 1st full length album is epic.

The song that stuck on my head:

      Geu namja whae?? Naege
      Geu namja whae?? Naege
      Geu namja whae?? Naege
      Molla
      Molla

      • 46.2.1 ahjummabunny

jank kiha and the faces are hilarious! I saw them perform last night on you hee yol. so I had leessang’s uie chigum manna in my head all this week. every two minutes ui chigum manna, tangjang manna.

        • 46.2.1.1 pohonphee

Have you seen their another relationship (geureogo geuron sai) MV? the MV with only hands on two third of the MV. Another epicness from Jang Kiha and The Faces.

Norang narang neun, norang narang neun, yee
sainikka, sainikka… (plus the hands move)

I almost burst it out in front of my client (when I’m happy I tent to sing/hum while working). She might think I am crazy, since she doesn’t understand Korean or can differ it is Chinese, Japanese, or Korean.

          • 46.2.1.1.1 ahjummabunny

no I haven’t seen that one yet. I was just thinking when I saw them perform that I couldn’t just listen for enjoyment I’d have to research the lyrics first, because they are so witty. you hee yol has subtitles and lyrics in hangul at the side of the screen.

  47. 47 girlatsea

Happy Friday everyone! I have work in an hour but I need to write about how these dramas are stressing me out. So, I’ve been watching way too many dramas these days.. Too many to handle but I can’t stop (!!!!). Every week I’ve been watching You’ve Fallen for Me, City Hunter, I Need Romance, just finished Romance Town… Yesterday, I watched the first two episodes of Spy Myung Wol and I loved it. And for the past two days I’ve been marathoning Queen of Reversals which I LOVEE (seriously Park Shi-hoo in the drama is too much.) Anyway, then we have Scent of a Women (Lee Dong-wook is the reason I’m into dramas so there’s no way I’m missing this one) and My Princess Man (more Park Shi-hoo aka I can’t miss this one either) airing soon.

And then I have work, my two summer classes (I’m trying to maintain above a 3.5 gpa) and sometimes I need a social life. Gah, I love that it’s raining dramas but couldn’t the drama gods spread them out a little bit? haha, well there’s my rant. I hope you all have a lovely day!

    • 47.1 ahjummabunny

you too girl at sea! I wish I had your drama dilemma right now!

    • 47.2 lvsanchez

oh wow so many!! how do you do it? I was watching 3 K-dramas and 1 J-drama and my social life was just non-existent. I’ve had to talk myself out of watching new ones, so I’m down to two now lol I’ve even cut down my time at Dramabeans so I don’t read articles which lead me to watch any more.

      I commend you! lol

      • 47.2.1 girlatsea

Haha well, basically, I don’t sleep. It’s terrible. I cancelled plans with a friend just so I could come and sleep after work because I’m exhausted but here I am, on dramabeans. And I’m itching to get back to watching episode 21 of Queen of Reversals.

Honestly, I should probably stay away from Scent of a Woman and The Princess’ Man.

    • 47.3 cmrprindle

Happy working girlatsea! Hope you have the day off, tomorrow :)

  48. 48 Roxy

Arghh am tired…gotta sleep…lost alot of sleep because of this open thread xD.
Anywayz see ya guys in a few hours! Happy friday! :)

  49. 49 Linda165

    Hey Guys, and happy Friday…

I don’t know why I was feeling strangely detached watching episode 16 of City Hunter. During some scenes that I should be bawling my eyes out, I didn’t feel anything. Perhaps my little heart senses a messy finale and its getting ready for it :(

On a more cheery note, I learned a new way of doing tequila shots watching I Need Romance last night. Ufffff!!

And… I hope Eric keeps wearing those tank tops all the time :)

    • 49.1 Jomo

INR – Yes, that shot sequence was delightfully sexy!
I haven’t watched it subbed yet. I had to guess what everyone was saying.

CH – Some of the aspects for the OTP are a little lather, rinse, repeat right now. Could be why we are feeling detached.

    • 49.2 ahjummabunny

hmm I think I need, I need romance too. I plan to buy a bottle of wine on my way home from work, or maybe beer. I don’t know I have to drink tonight!

    • 49.3 Sethe

      @ Linda165

“I hope Eric keeps wearing those tank tops all the time.” LOL. You like to see a little nipple here and there? (Okay, I should probably say “now and then” rather than “here and there,” right? ;) )

    • 49.4 cmrprindle

Linda165! I meant to thank you last week for being the first follower on my blog! *hugs!*

  50. 50 bourbon

I’m here! I’m here! What’d i miss all these weeks?

    • 50.1 ahjummabunny

      BOURBON BISCUIT!!!! pogussipo! chalchinae?

    • 50.2 izzie

      welcome back, bourbon! :)

missed? well, there’s the regular stir-craziness. :) Mr. Hand Towel never fails to be mentioned in every OT, it seems. There’s something magical about him, I suspect.

    • 50.3 Shiku

Hi Bourbon. Did you watch BL? Are you Pil-jooled or Dokkofied

    • 50.4 Jomo

      Bonjour Nougat-shi!
      You were missed!

    • 50.5 ricky the royal highness

      How ya been, bourbon?

    • 50.6 bourbon

It has been one craaaazzzzy week for my city. I’m just happy that the casualty count wasn’t as high as the last time. Then again, merely thinking a thought like that reminds me how jaded we’ve become. We’re so inured to terrorism now, we’re always looking for reasons to bounce back rather than stay angry. Because we realise that there’s really no escaping this cycle for us. :/

Sorry, for the depression… Anyway, Bonjour, Annoyong, namaste, and any other languages that were mentioned! I’ve missed OT soooo much, but i haven’t managed to reach home in time for it lately… works being crazy. But i finish in three days, which is sad, cuz i learned SO much here, more than I’ve learned in college, so far. Its the classical case of practical vs. theoretical knowledge, i suspect.

Shiku… i am a mix of Dokkofied and PilJoofied! Every time i thought i would be converted to one side, the other side won me back over again! But strangely the show i miss a little more, is Baby Faced Beauty… I didn’t expect it to grab me that much!

Speaking of something magical… i was out last night watching Potter. Your thoughts? I must admit, i was slightly disappointed.

But overall Bourbon has been good… how is it on your ends of the world?

      • 50.6.1 MJP

        bourbon,

I am sorry to hear of all the losses. Glad to know your family was safe.

We are well here. Celebrated a couple of birthdays today.

      • 50.6.2 samgetang

        hi bourbon!

        where’s your city?

BFB is also a sweet surprise for me. What makes it so is maybe because of the good development of the relationship between the male and female leads. For their set-up that the society does not easily approve of, the writers were able to build sufficient sympathy and empathy from the viewers that we were able to root for them. Daniel Choi’s CJW is surprisingly one of the more mature lead male despite his age diff w Jang Nara’s LSY.
