Song Hye-gyo’s return to the silver screen delayed

Today, a movie starring famously beautiful Song Hye-gyo (Full House, The World They Live In), has delayed its release to the big screen.

This is Song Hye-gyo’s first movie since her much-publicized split from her love of almost two years, actor Hyun Bin (Secret Garden, The World They Live In). The two actors announced their split merely hours after he started his mandatory army duty on March 7, with both parties stating that it was a mutual decision, that they have the utmost respect for one another, that they’ll remain as friends… blah blah blah… and HOORAY! I mean, considering: Is it fair for one woman to have a claim on Hyun Bin? I’m pretty sure we can agree on the answer to that.

The movie was originally scheduled to open in May, and per the norm, press releases and interviews were scheduled to coincide with the release of the movie. Perhaps Song Hye-gyo realized she couldn’t possibly fit all the interviews and press events into her endorsement-packed schedule? (I don’t even live in Korea, yet I see her face everywhere, advertising everything.)

Officials from the movie announced on Star Today that they are currently working on the music score, computer graphics and completing the final details for the movie, and projecting a fall release. The movie is about a documentary director played by Song Hye-gyo, who loses her fiancé. (It wouldn’t be a Korean movie without some crying, would it?)

Today is Song Hye-gyo’s return to the silver screen since her 2007 movie Hwang Jin-i. The actress claims that Today has been the turning point of her career as an actress, and wishes for the fans to love the movie as much as she does. The movie is now aiming for an October premiere.

As much as I adore Hyun Bin and wish he was mine alone, I appreciate the fact that Song Hye-gyo made him happy. They were in love, so why must we (as third-party outsiders) feel happy for their heartbreak? If we are, then we are no better than those scheming evil mothers or ex-girlfriends that we love to hate in all these kdramas.

Secondly, I believe that their break-up is unlike many break-up's we usually witness. If you actually analyze it, I think they are both better off individually rather than a couple due to the circumstances. He is going away for 2 years and 2 years without regular contact with someone can ruin a relationship. They ended their relationship because I think they were both aware that 2 years apart would put a strain on their relationship. Who knows, when he comes back maybe he'll get back together with Song Hye-gyo. But even if he doesn't, why should it matter to us? As true fans, what makes him happy should make us happy.

I am not a shipper of this couple but it's pretty mean to cheer when people break up. I thought you girls have better sense than that.

iunno man, they broke up months ago.

haven't you ever heard that theory where it's rude to joke about something for a certain amount of time... but once the time is up, jokes are okay? Maybe i just watch too much communitychannel

but my point is, i highly doubt the mention of this breakup would send song hye kyo into torrential tears, so do we really have to tiptoe around it?

I dunno how her comment was mean?
She's not saying "Yay Hurrah, She didn't deserve him"

It sounded more like an after thought to me. Like on the brightside...
And considering it's months later, it seems appropriate enough to me.

I think you guys are taking this a bit too far....I'm a fan of both and I dont think it was offensive or unfair at all...in fact it sounded funny and good humored....they've been broken up long before the news even broke out anyways so what's the biggie??

I love her acting - first saw her in "Hotelier", (the one with Yonsamma :) not the Japanese one), and she was so young and sweet and obviously talented. Her performance just jumped off the screen even then.

Hope this movie is a successful one - I, for one, would rather see her getting back to acting rather than a bunch of CF and print work. She belongs on the screen.

Call me crazy, but wasn't she supposed to have a decent-sized role in an American film? Maybe early last year? Or, it could be that I've had one latte too many and my synapses are misfiring.....

The reason that you "see her face everywhere" is that it is face that most everyone who has ever seen it enjoys seeing the most! The quote from Cynthia@04 is spot on, she and her performance literally, "...jumped off the screen." Although I much prefer dramas to Korean movies, the opportunity of seeing a 40 foot image of Song Hye Kyo is just to appealing to pass up...

Actually, I don't agree about being happy that she broke up with Hyun Bin. As big of a fangirl I am, I was happy that they were together and felt so bad when they broke up.

Song Hye Kyo is officially 30 years old (in Korean years.) Gosh. That makes me feel old. It's weird (translation: depressing) realizing that shows like Full House may seem ancient to the viikiids today.

LOL at your reaction to Hyun Bin's freedom. I guess it's always better to be honest.

It seems a little odd for her to say this movie is a turning point in her career when it hasn't even been released - seems a little early for that. Still, good luck to her, I hope it does well. Especially since it probably wasn't fun to face the press after her high-profile breakup.

I know they are celebrities, but I had wished they had kept their relationship private. Now instead of talking of her acting and the new movie, we are talking of their breakup which happened months ago.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Something(s) seem to be missing from the comments section. Let me see if I can't add a necessary something or other:

THANK YOU sassychef, for taking mongo time out of your busy life, adding your talents to the dramabeans family.

THANK YOU sassychef, for working hard to translate the article which I do believe is ENTIRELY WRITTEN IN KOREAN except for the very last line, which lists the reporters email address in english.

THANK YOU sassychef, for being so thoughtful as to take your translation and then share a brief summary of said article with us so that instead of an incomprehensible article with a rather fetching pix of SHG, we now have a slightly greater understanding of what is happening.

and

I AM GRATEFUL, sassychef, because without sassy cooks like yourself, well, the world would be a little 싱겁다 for me.

Thanks sassychef! and welcome to this crazy blog world where - you'll see - posters are very nice, some are very rude or a little passive/aggressive, many are lovely, charming or hilarious.
A great many number of posters seem to have entire fantasy-lives in their minds with their favourite k-drama stars.

Speaking of fantasy: you all can take care of Binnie while I console my lovely SYG.
Someone's got to do it...

Let me add my thanks, sassychef and welcome to DB!...even though I know you've already posted a couple of times, only managed to comment today (Do agree with posters above on your style, which had me scrolling up to try and figure out who was writing this since it didn't sound like JB or GF!)

LOL @ Samsooki, good on you for prodding others into action! (P.S. Good to see you around again finally after so long!)

I've loved Song Hye Gyo since first seeing her in Autumn in My Heart and then again in Full House (even as I cursed the storyline further on into the series), so it's great to hear that she'll be up in another movie. I kinda miss her being together with Hyun Bin - they made such a lovely couple in The Worlds They Live In, but s'long as they're happy, that's what's most important! ;)

I don't have anything against Song Hye-gyo and wish her success with her many endeavors, though I do feel her 'beauty' is highly overrated. I consider many other Korean actresses much prettier than her.

Her face has those perfect proportions, she is undeniably very beautiful. but I do think she's a little overrated, but it's hard to deny her beauty. It's like Lee Yeon Hee with me. Sometimes I'm like, she's not all that, and then she goes and blows me away with her beauty.

The story seems promising. I'm looking forward to her work and I'm also looking forward to that movie with Kang Dong Won she did, Camellia.

Suddenly I got an image in my head of her starring with Johnny Depp is something...anything...

Happy that she will back soon with something (work/movie/TV related work that is). I hope it's worth the wait. I hope she will do a drama soon. ( a TV reunion with WONBIN perhaps..)

And the reason why you see her face almost everywhere is..(could) everyone is copying her face to try to look like her (i.e. plastic surgery) hehehe .

Thanks for the article! I was saddened by their break-up because I still think that they're good together. I read and watched some interviews back when they were dating so I was a bit affected by it. However, I kind of understand given their present situation so I hope that when Hyun Bin comes back they'll hang out as friends again. But I'm glad that she has made Hyun Bin really happy during their relationship. Although it's really not fair to have only one woman to claim for Hyun Bin, she's one of the women whom I don't mind being his girlfriend.

I also think she's not the best actress in the industry, but having seen her dramas, she has definitely improved.

i dont understand what the fuss about hyun bin. he doesnt appeal me at all..
I am not a fan of SHK and HB alltogether...but i watch all of their drama's because i am a K-drama fans.
from MNIKSS till SG, i still dont find HB is cute nor good looking. he looks fine in MNIKSS, but in SG he looks skinny scarier and i dont understand how girls are swooning over him...

but his acting are good..and i think his not overly handsome looks is really helped me to see him drawn into his character a lot...it's better to see a not super handsome actor playing their character rather than to see the most handsome character trying to convinced viewer that they're not just handsome...
