Try out for MBC Star Audition in Los Angeles

MBC Star Audition is a reality singing-competition show, and it’s holding open auditions for its second season in Los Angeles, on Saturday, July 16, 2011. They’ll be held at the Sheraton Los Angeles Downtown Hotel (711 South Hope Street, Los Angeles, CA 90017).

That means you’ve got two weeks to apply if you want to take your shot, which you can do:

  • If you can sing at least 1 song in Korean (no restrictions on age, gender, ethnicity);
  • are not a professional singer or have a recording contract;
  • through July 15, 2011;
  • in time for the auditions on July 16 at the above address.

For the uninitiated (e.g., me), here’s a clip from the show. (I love that the girl played a singer-songwriter-ized rendition of Seo Taiji’s pop-rap megahit “난 알아요,” even if the judges didn’t.)

    I have neither one of their qualifications and i can only mumble korean-sounding phrases whenever I attempt to sing Lie by Bigbang.. does that count???? =)

    July 16th? Lol, good luck to the people who have to battle the I-405 closure in order to make the audition in Los Angeles.

      that’s EXACTLY what I was thinking!!! freeways are going to be death that weekend. terrible time to have the auditions~

    the judges are so scary! not like american idol AT ALL. lol. i don’t see a paula abdul in the mix.

    Well, a song in korean? I can speak korean so it least that should be ok. The bigger problem is the singing part! It doesn’t really matter which language I just suck at singing….-_-

        Los Angeles has a large population of Koreans more than any other City in the U.S. Makes sense why there going to L.A. New York is 2nd don’t be surprise if they go there too.

      Maybe they’ll do Youtube auditions again? They did worldwide Youtube auditions for the December one.. people came from Australia, Europe, the US, Southeast Asia… so who knows :) Maybe they’ll do that again~

    yeeaah I can’t speak Korean or have amazing vocals so no thnaks.

    On a side note: did anyone got to anime expo today? I saw this girl dressed up as G-dragon from his heart breaker music video and she was looked really good! I was surprised to see someone cosplay as a K-pop star.

    Being resident in the UK; nope.

    Interesting…. On the form in Korean, you have to state your height and weight. But not on the form in English.

    Someone’s afraid of inches and pounds? Or someone understood that it’s not what matters?

    I luv the reqrmts no age limit, no ethnicity whatsoever, & I can sing a lot of Korean songs since i fell in love with Korean music, lately i’ve been singing along with Younha titled Broke Up Today or something like that, a beautiful song, but i guess i am camera shy & i might just have cold feet during the audition. I must say i also lately fell for IRIS ost & been singing along with Baek Ji Yeong titled Don’t Forget….woah i want to audition but July 16th is fast approaching! I dunno now but i’m excited already! hehehe
