You’ve Fallen For Me: Episode 6

It’s a bit of an angst-go-round this episode, as Shin faces some harsh truths and Kyu-won finally realizes her heart. Though it’s hard not to hate anyone who makes Kyu-won’s life difficult, I do appreciate their youthful journeys into and out of love.

EPISODE 6: “With the feeling that it must be” [Also “…that I/you must be here.” It’s intentionally pronoun-less.]

Reeling from the sight of Yoon-su and Seok-hyun reuniting, Shin lashes out at Kyu-won, calling out her crush on him. She fights back angry tears, calling him an idiot.

The teachers walk out, blissfully unaware of all the heartache they’ve left in their wake.

Shin rides home in the rain, full of tears and angry shouts. Kyu-won cries too, sitting alone on the bus. It’s like a chain of heartbreak.

Shin goes to see Dad, who senses right away that it’s been a bad day for Shin, probably because of his lady troubles. He picks up his guitar and plays a melody that he’s written for the song Shin played for him, and it lifts his spirits.

He comes home in a funk, and Mom asks if he’s still going to guitar lessons, fishing to see if his teacher has said anything out of the ordinary. He tells her the story of him loving his friend’s girlfriend and stealing her away… which incenses Mom.

She tells him to stop going there, and he flatly refuses her. She hesitates… “Do you… know who he is?” He tells her that he knows, and that he’s going to keep going there, no matter what she says. Mom trembles, tears flooding her eyes. I honestly don’t know what you thought was going to happen when you introduced them, lady. Your son’s not an idiot.

He arrives at school just in time to see Seok-hyun dropping Yoon-su off, and then goes to confront her about it. He tosses out bitterly, “So you found one—an adult man.” You are such a punk sometimes.

He asks her what she likes so much about Seok-hyun, and Yoon-su tries to walk away from the conversation. But Shin is a dog with a bone, so she finally asks what he likes so much about her.

He says “Everything.” So she says that’s what she likes about Seok-hyun. “Everything. Being with him makes me happy. Him, not you.” Damn. I do admit that although she’s a downer, her set-downs are refreshingly direct and clear—the perfect thing to force the kid to move the hell on.

He tells her that he’ll do it then—he’ll give up and forget her. He says it defiantly, as if challenging her not to regret it. I love the realism of his youthful crush, because to him it’s life and death, and he can’t see beyond what he feels. It’s not his fault either, because he simply lacks the perspective to look beyond himself. It’s sweet and endearing.

Kyu-won comes to school coffee in hand, searching for Shin. She waits by his bike all morning, and ends up leaving his coffee there, unable to see him and clear the air.

He’s busy angsting it out on the field, and finally decides to toss the necklace away. Well at least he’s trying to actually move on.

Ki-young officially joins musical practice, and he gets a half-hearted welcome from everyone except Jun-hee, who bounces up and down and squees. He quickly points out Hee-joo as his Natasha, adding that she’s very shy but really pretty.

Ki-young gets filled in on the fact that Jun-hee is a few marbles short, so not to take anything he says very seriously. Well that’s a character in a nutshell.

Seok-hyun gets warned by his sunbae that trusting Ki-young is risky, and adds that Hee-joo needs to get the lead spot over Kyu-won, to keep the university president happy. That riles him up plenty, and then he comes to practice to find that Kyu-won and Shin are playing hooky.

Oooh, bad timing. He’s just gotten through defending your ass, and then you skip practice to chase Shin? He calls her in front of everyone, yelling into the phone that she’d better get to practice or she’ll be cut from the musical.

She’s too busy following Shin to listen, and just gives him an excuse over the phone. It starts pouring rain and finally Kyu-won shouts at Shin, wondering how long he’s going to keep being like this.

She tells him that he’s being pathetic and petty. I know he’s being a big mope, but I don’t see why it should matter so much to you. I mean, let the guy work through his feelings. It’s only been half a day.

He yells back that it’s over now, and that he’s decided to give it up. He starts to stalk off, but then turns around to take the gayageum out of her hands, to carry it for her. Aw.

They stand outside a music store, waiting out the rain under an awning. It’s a nice silent moment shared between them, as they stick their hands out to catch raindrops. They say nothing, but it’s the first moment of real connection between them.

It’s moving day for Shin’s family, and Kyu-won finds out when his bratty sister comes by asking for a hammer, with no manners whatsoever. Seriously, I’m beginning to think this family was raised badly, based on both kids’ demeanor towards adults. Makes me want to yell at their mom.

She breaks a vase and makes a run for it, so Grandpa chases her all the way to their house, and Kyu-won follows suit, trying to hide her face. Shin is shocked to see her, and now his brat sister recognizes her too: “Hey, it’s that Pumpkin Girl!”

Mom finally comes out and introduces herself to Gramps, and then we flash back to when they first met. Kyu-won’s dad had brought her home as the girl he was going to marry, and Grandpa had called her the band singer who seduced his son with that devil’s music.

Shin’s dad calls Kyu-won’s dad to ask him to visit, because there’s something he wants to tell him before he dies. Kyu-won’s dad isn’t keen on the idea, and makes excuses.

Kyu-won can’t believe that she’s neighbors with Shin now, and greatly regrets her wardrobe choice for the day. The next morning she peeks at Shin’s front door, only to have him come out to find her standing there, looking as if she waited to see him all morning.

She makes up an excuse about trash day, and I die in embarrassment for her, as she tries to leave nonchalantly, but then realizes she went the wrong way. Hee. I love that they’re neighbors now.

Seok-hyun’s sunbae has had enough of watching the musical go down the tubes, and decides to form his own separate musical, to debut a month before Seok-hyun’s. HA. Oh that’s not petty or anything. It’s hilariously transparent, but whatever—it just means we’ll get some Dream High misfit/cool kids action, which is fine by me.

Kyu-won gets chewed out for missing practice, but Seok-hyun has such a soft spot for her that he lets it go once he sees how sorry she is. But she’s warned that one more missed practice really means that she’s out.

He says the same to Shin when he and Yoon-su pass him in the halls, and Shin just gives a half-hearted okay as he watches them walk off, happily in love.

Kyu-won’s dad finally goes to see Shin’s father, and flips his lid at his request for him to look out for Shin and his mom. Oh that’s a low blow. So you’re gonna steal your best friend’s girl, ruin both their lives, and then swoop in right before dying and pretend to be the noble one? Blech.

Kyu-won’s dad basically has an outburst for good reason, although he’s not exempt from being a martyr and an idiot either, so whatever.

He walks out just as Shin walks in, and his father has a seizure. He waits all day to try and see him, to no avail. So he leaves a music notebook for the nurse, to ask him to take a look at it when he’s awake.

The Brat decides she’s hungry and abuses Shin’s slave privileges to get Kyu-won to cook for her, and of course Kyu-won falls for it, thinking that she’s cooking for Shin. Oy. Mom comes home just in time to see Kyu-won get a call from her dad and run out to meet him.

Shin takes out one of his dad’s old albums that he discovered while unpacking Mom’s stuff, and remembers his short time with Dad wistfully.

The next day at school, Kyu-won reminds Shin that it’s the last day of her slave contract. He almost lets it slide, and then asks if she can find a necklace that he lost in the field. No! Don’t do that!

He rethinks it and tells her not to find it and walks off. But of course, Kyu-won doesn’t let it rest, and gets her friends to help her search the whole field. Problem is, she doesn’t know what it looks like.

Shin gets a call from Mom and then attends a funeral with her… only to find once he’s there that it’s for his father. What, you didn’t even tell him whose funeral he was going to? You are the suckiest mom ever.

They pay their respects, and Dad’s wife hands Shin his music notebook and Dad’s guitar, insisting that he take it. At home Shin asks Mom if those people know who they are, and she nods. He asks if alcoholism is hereditary, and she tells him tearfully that he’s not the same.

He caresses Dad’s album and asks his sister if he looks like him. She asks if that means it’s his father, and wonders what’s going on with him and Mom. He skips school for a few days, and slowly word spreads of the news.

Shin finally cries, looking at the song that he had given to Dad, looking at the changes had made to help him fix it. He pictures Dad’s shaking hand as he added notes and fixed his song, just before dying.

He goes to the club and plays the song, crying and thinking of Dad as he sends him off in his own way. (The song is posted above).

Kyu-won searches again for the necklace and finally finds it. She’s disappointed to discover that it’s a woman’s. She hears that Shin came to the club and rushes over there, but he’s already played and left.

She runs out to the street to find him.

He’s sitting in the rain in the same spot they were before. Only Yoon-su finds him first and hands him an umbrella and turns to go. He stops her and puts his arms around, not in a I-want-you way, but in a really vulnerable I-need-a-shoulder-to-cry-on way.

It still infuriates me that she’s even there, but it breaks my heart to see him finally cry like a little boy on her shoulder.

Kyu-won runs up clutching the necklace, only she’s too late.

Kyu-won: Shin is crying. I wanted to run and tell him before anyone else… “Are you okay? It’ll be okay.” Right now Shin is in someone else’s arms. Not mine… someone else’s.

COMMENTS

Aw, I love the moment of Kyu-won’s heartbreaking realization. She’s denied her growing crush and been able to chalk it up to hurt pride or simply trying to be a good friend, but it’s the first moment of real heartbreak for her, and it’s played beautifully by Park Shin-hye.

I know he’s lost his dad and she’s worried, but it aggravates me to no end that Yoon-su is even giving him an opportunity to hold onto her. I spent the entire episode liking her as much as can be liked because she was so firm and clear in rejecting him, only to have her turn around and do this, which just puts her right back in the doghouse. Grar.

So going in I knew this was going to be a youth melodrama, so I’m okay with any angst having to do with the youthful discovery of love, first heartbreak, confusing feelings and all that, but I certainly hope that the parental angst is going to take a backseat after this. Shin’s relationship with Dad was played nicely, but it’s the Mom-Dad-Kyu-won’s dad triangle that drives me bonkers.

I get that Shin’s going through a rough patch, but I wonder if it’s necessary for Kyu-won to be down just because he’s down. It’s not that I don’t understand her angst—it’s just that I want it to be her OWN. Right now she seems swayed by his emotions rather than acting based on her own, so I’d like to see more development for her, and storylines for her to act independently of Shin. Because a crush is a crush, but girl’s gotta live a life, yeah? I’m looking forward to more of her journey in doing the musical and spreading her wings a bit. And while we’re at it, let’s bring back Gukak vs. Rock.

So we’ve been keeping the recaps warm for the first few weeks until Romance Town ended, because this series was always kaedejun‘s to begin with (she has a love for Kang Min-hyuk that we’d be crazy to mess with). She’ll be taking over the recaps from here on out, but we’ll be watching and commenting along with the rest of you. (Especially since I have no plans to relinquish Song Chang-eui.) Initiate: baton pass!

Like many people here, I'm getting a little annoyed at the main lead girl becoming a *stalker* but I guess it shows the contrast between her two sides (the one that didn't like Shin at the start and the one that fell in love with him) because when you are in love, you don't realise that you're following them around, swayed by their emotions or doing things that they tell you to do.

I don't think that Shin will suddenly come to a realization that he misses her if she stops being around him now because his mind is still filled with grief from both the professor's rejection and his father's death. Furthermore, I just feel that he doesn't like her enough yet to miss her because the more she chases him, the more he seems to get annoyed.

So the best thing for her to do now is to concentrate on the production and be at his side "silently" rather than trying to get his attention or pissing him off by telling him to snap out of it. Maybe by supressing her feelings a little more, he will start to see her significance.

As for the professor, I can understand why she stopped her car and had a look at Shin...out of guilt. When she heard about the news that his father passed away, she probably felt bad for rejecting him as well. But I don't think that she "likes" him in anyway. When she patted him on the back, it was like a mother kind of comforting. He needed that but even if it wasn't the professor, he probably would have hugged anyone who came to him.

Having said that, it doesn't mean that I like the fact that she stopped her car. Maybe the writer shouldn't have made her appear in that scene because if she just drove on, the audience might really bash her for being a heartless bi*ch. I mean, after hearing that kind of news about someone, I think I would stop the car as well to comfort him. Doesn't mean that I have feelings for him, just that I would feel bad.

Dammit, the script is making the story drag. If they extended it a few more episodes, the story might play out quite well but I have no clue how they plan to make the two leads fall in love with each other by the rate that they are going right now. I wanted them to fall for each other at the same time not this unrequited love that is driving my head crazy.

The more a girl chases after a guy that doesn't like her, the more he'll look down upon her and take her for granted. I hope that the following episodes will transform her into a stronger character in order to match up with Shin's cold attitude. Their personalities are contrasts which is good but I wish that this contrast is balanced.

Looking forward to episode 7 ^^

From all the reactions and comment I've read so far,you are the only one that I think I agreed upon.

I don't think Kyu-won is clinging to Shin, she is emphatizing with him in his current situation. She does not even realized she is in love, just maybe like a lot.I don't think she lost her spunky attitude. She does not give up on him, I think.Guys, she has to experience this in order for her learn lessons in love.....which is realistic.

I don't think that Shin ,who is so infatuated(i call it that cos that is what it is,i know from experience) would just jump suddenly from another "love" just cos she's available, that would be kind of petty love, would it?which i don't want to happen to the story.would it be great to slowly build up their connection to make it a genuine love really? That's why people are complaining cos they want the two leads together immediately,,,,guys, for me that is so unrealistic.I think that scene with the rain sums up what real connection would be.

the musical part i think will still be there, its just that they have to build the characters, in doing that some parts have to be put aside for a while.they can't just fill every episode with it.

another point,i think its notable that lee shin is not whining and clinging to the professor but just watching far and accepted the reality that there's nothing he can do about his "love".I believe that when he hug her, its for comfort and not out of his "love".Kyu-won is just bad timing, if i would be in that situation, i would so badly need the comfort.Imagine bottling up your emotions with no one to talk it out.

People are so busy wanting the things they want to happen or see in the drama but not to see the real things that the drama wants to convey which reflects real life. For me it, its a story telling us or pointing us to some things that are lessons in life.....

Come on.....give Shin a break, give the PD a break....even Kyu-won.....they are telling story here, just hear it out patiently.....(though I think I'm on a lonely journey here).

And one of the my biggest issue that I want to point out to those acting critics......hey......are you really watching Yonghwa's acting or are you just biased just because he's an k-pop "idol"(though i don't think he is in that category considering he does not dance).Come on, he improved a lot here though we can't consider it as award winning.

Oh gosh. Thank you, thank you for post. I agree with you completely.

On Kyuwon - I don't think she's a stalker either and she has not lost her spunky character. Spunky is following your heart and your feelings, not hiding them. And Kyuwon is doing just that.

On Shin - he's just as spunky. He likes the professor and he's not afraid to admit it. And since the professor tells him no, he lets it go. For anyone who ever been in love, just how do you expect a person to let go of someone you love so much in a few days?? Of course he'll mope and he'll be angry. Added to that, his dad passed away. I think his reaction is realistic and completely in line with how a 20 year old will act.

On Yonghwa's acting - for the critics out there who says he's stiff and wooden and what-not, are we watching the same drama? He may not be top notch but he's improved so much. And this is only his 2nd drama and to be able to show this much emotion (esp in Ep5&6) deserves praise. His acting is subtle and not over-the-top. True, there are some parts where he could show a bit more emotion but overall, I would say good job. I think he portrayed Shin really well.

The problem with Yonhwa at this point is not his acting - he hasn't really been given a chance. They have just made his character pretty stiff and unlikeable. No chance to show his comic or softer side except when stalking the teacher - which is just hard to take. I think he will look a lot better when they have him interacting more with Kyowon. They are much cuter together.

sigh, I really just don't like this drama. It feels so shallow or something...so....fake. Of course, drama's always is some heightened form of imagination/ "reality" but this one feels like a manhwa or anime or something. Overacting, dramatic, etc. ew. :( I wish it was better.
But I do love Spy Myungwol.
hehe.

are you watching the drama itself or another drama?its seems like your describing another drama or maybe you read the recaps?

your comments are far from facts and just plain disliking........I suggest you just watch the drama you wanted and comment on it not reading another drama's recaps and then being negative(while its obvious you don't know what your talking about).

If you have nothing to say constructive, then comment anything.

P.S.
Why are you on this site anyway if you don't like it?

She is the only one I hate! 6 episodes about her and her love, urg! I love this drama but Playful kiss, You are beautiful were much better! Lee Shin is sad for 3 episodes and doesn't even try to let that stupid dance teacher go! She doesn't love you, what's to hard to understand? I really, really hope this story changes a little bit with less of the Ballerina story or else she could turn into the main character!

I agree with Nouastella to see or think this story in depth not just love story come with kiss then fight and in the end the both will be happy . Heartstrings is full of drama a beautiful drama not easy as i thought and not happy make me thinking what next and also to do scripts in mind which make me i want to answer many questions . I am sorry the people who disappointed want love story only with PSH and yonghwa they wished them to be to gether ........etc , But what about real life I think i believe the story in this and isn't easy to accept the love between lee shin and professor but is it happening in our life but why are we denied here and some guys think that Kw is annoying to follow him but can i ask you all one question what do you do if you see someone you knew him barely got deeply hurt or has problem do you leave or just follow to know what happen and keep what hurting him away ? this Story un like other stories i watched so I wish to see ep 7 t o see what Next ????????????

Nope. I don't think so, I think all the chasing stuff of KW to LS in this ep is just she's so care about him and want to comfort him after his heart broken rather than she want to gain the love from him.

Just don't see things only with your eyes but with your heart and you will understand people more.

I'm totally hooked!!! I love all the cast, even the three witchy demons are hilarious to watch (OH ROMEOO!!!). Min Hyuk, Ki Young, Bu Won and Hee Ju are all a delight to watch too. =D

The only things that bug me are the coincidental meetings they have sometimes. At night. And with no one else around, Gyu Won will be able to walk in on something important. Lol! The parents' story is pretty boring too but the grandpa is so cute! I love cute grandparents in dramas!

I listen to Lee Shin's Because I Miss You and Min Hyuk's Star every day until the next episode, I'm that obsessed with this.

Maybe what it needs is a reeeally good cliffhanger to keep us on our toes for next week. Wish the ratings were better but it will probably be a cult hit as it's so popular online!

To the viewers and to those who reads the recaps, i found this is an opinion posted by the admin of the fan facebook of You've Fallen for Me.I felt that the admin was kind of frustrated by the reactions of viewers and critics. The opinion was written by a forumer(not sure the right term) in soompi thread not by the admin of the FB page.

Anyway, like the admin, it made me realized what I was feeling while watching the drama...I can't explain why I wanted to stick to it and keep watching...To each to his/her own opinion so don't bash the writer. It's well written anyway without criticizing the hard core critics and "negatives".

I hope the author doesn't mind sharing this.......I just feel the need to explain how i feel also, to which the author exactly explains and sums it. Thank you CATCHER!!!

You've Fallen For me Fan Facebook:

i found an amusing reaction from one of the forumer @ soompi.. i find her point of view somehow enlightening my mind... i just don't know with you guys if you agree to what this forumer says..but for me,i cannot agree more coz she already speak almost what's on my mind...pls try reading this tho.. and share your reactions too..thanks! :)

PS.just would like to remind you this is just one of the point of view that i perhaps agreed and i know all of us have different opinions, and you're entitled for it.. you may find some of the sentences here contradictory with your opinion BUT take it easy as she's just only expressing herself..either way, i'm hoping no bashing of this opinion, coz you have your own too.. :) thanks!

catch22blue @ Heartstrings soompi thread

Here is another essay of mine. Hope you don't mind. LOL.

After watching the latest 2 episodes, I can understand why many people dislike the drama, some even find it dragging and annoying, which is perfectly normal, because this drama needs people with heart and patience and sympathy to accompany with on its journey. Or else, it's gonna be one heck of a lonely ride.

In Heartstrings, I can see the director/scriptwriter's personal experiences in it. Why, you might ask? Because they've experienced heartaches, headaches and most importantly, life itself. So when they bring their knowledge, intentions, and hopeful thoughts into their dramas, be it World Withins, Coffee House, or Heartstrings, we need to nurture and respect them as if we are being taught something, regardless of whether we need it or not.

On a side note, we rarely see a character who gives up his one-sided love and fight against his will to stop, stop loving someone. I can see Lee Shin is trying. At the first attempt, he failed. So he had to confront the girl of his dream and displayed such childish behaviour, because for once, he was not angle. "I'm also a grown man". It's a typical reaction to see from a guy when his pride is crushed, isn't it? But sadly, by doing so, it reinforced the fact that he wasn't, isn't, ready to bridge the age gap between the professor and he.

Whereas, in most of the dramas I've seen, lots of girls and guys either persist, whine, plan, or do anything to make the person change his/her mind. Lee Shin, to my amusement, didn't, or isn't doing that (or so, I'm praying).

Instead, he stands quietly in his practice room, looking out the window, looking at his lifeless face, and unabling to move one.

Instead, he looks at his love being in love with someone else from aside, and walks away in silence, knowing there's nothing he could do.

That, requires real strength and courage. That, to me, what makes the drama real.

Lee Shin struggled with his wounded pride, but he prevailed against his ego. Doesn't it need a little of heart from us, the viewers, my friends?

On another note, I personally don't expect to see him jumping from one love to the next in a couple of episodes, just because the first one doesn't reciprocate and the next one is more than willing. If he was like that, it'd just be another typical K-drama that I occasionally watch but don't wish it was one of Pyo's works. Speaking of the man, it hurts to see him stating that he wishes to change his nickname from "low rating director" to "popular appeal director" (cr. dramabeans). Please Pyo, just stay true to who you are. Surely there aren't that many favor your works, but there are people who appreciate your way of telling stories. I love Coffee House so much, not because of the leads, but because of the angst between Eun Yong and Jin Soo are unpredictable, twisted, and real. Oops, I'm off track again

-----

They often say hater's gonna hate, but I can't even use that sentence to describe a lot of members here because clearly the majority of us ain't hater. We just kinda, hm, have different expectations. That's all.

For many that can't wait for LeeShin/GyuWon's story to progress, I highly recommend you go and watch City Hunter or something else and come back after, hm, 3 or 4 weeks, I'm sure you'd be more than pleased. For a not so young fan like I am, (I'm 28 by the way), I want to see those two slowly take their pace and blossom into something deeper than fierce love, the kind that sparkles at first and fades with time. I want to see them building their friendship before jumping on each other for kinship and all. When one passes 25, holding someone's heart needs more than just love. It's still important, but not as important as when one was 20. Believe me.

So, in order to follow this kind of low pace drama, don't we all need a little of patience? And it's not all about the ability to wait, but also the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting.

---

On my last note, it hurts me to see a lot of comments here (soompi) and there (drama blogs) getting worked up and angry at how LeeShin character is all about depression and keeping all to himself. Aren't we too busy noticing the things we want see but can't and forget the real things in front of our eyes? Don't we see how LeeShin cried his heart out upon hearing about his father's sudden death? I'm saying this because it didn't, doesn't, matter if it was the professor's or GyuWon's shoulder that LeeShin leaned on under that rainy day, the poor guy just needed someone. Can't we stop being inconsiderate and sympathize with the guy's pain?

LeeShin will always end up with GyuWon, everyone. Let's just sit back, enjoy YongHwa's improvement, dive into characters' struggle and pain, and eat up our selfish demands. Let the drama take its toll and enjoy while we still can.

---

Talking about Yonghwa, I feel for him again because of the few positive criticism out there about his acting skills. Given his choding manner in real life, I'm impressed at how he could be soooo emotional when he needed to be. I liked the last scene so much when he cried on the professor's shoulder. He didn't bawl out his eyes or whimper like a baby. I liked how he cried (oh my, I'm so bad), like a real man with tears trailing down on the cheeks and trembling lips. That crying scene gives me a taste of truth and honesty for some odd reasons. Hm, never mind.

---

Alright, so much for my 2 cents. I shall conclude here before I see you all again next Wednesday. Just remember, not all the time, drama is intended to make us laugh, sometimes it is intended to make us think.

Until next time.

OMG!!! This is so true. I agree also with what she said HATERS will go on HATING!!! People are already prejudiced against YongHwa and also his character Lee Shin. People who have made up their mind in the first episode that YongHwa's acting is stiff like a cardboard box and aren't willing to acknowledge any changes will only see what they want to see. I for one am amazed at how he was able to tackle these last 2 episodes. I guess for the young ones they expect cute guys with cute personalities. Well it's not always that way in life. Lee Shin may be the heartthrob of the campus but he has his flaws and weaknesses and for me that is just okay. I am liking this drama cause it just gives me enough without saturating me with so much that I won't be able to digest it and appreciate it fully. Anyway, I am in this drama for the long haul and can't wait to what will be transpiring between these 2 leads. I am loving YongHwa's improvement and of course Park Shin Hye plays her role to a T.

If there's a like button here, I would have pressed it a million times and more. Thank you Catcher for your insights and Nouastella for sharing it.

I believe this story is about growing up. It is different from the usual K-dramas because I think it's realistic. This is how 20 year olds act when they are in love, upset, angry, happy etc. Above all else, I think this drama has heart. It is aptly named because it does tug at the heartstrings.

As for the actors, all of them (especially Yonghwa and Shinhye) is doing a good job by portraying everything realistically. I hope the director and the actors won't get discouraged by all the negative comments.

Count me in for the long haul.

I'm not young but I also find it dragging. We only have 10 more episodes and a lot of things to get through so the pace needs to pick up real quick. Right now, it's like the writer and director think this is a 30-episode drama.

What you say is right! But the drama already passed 6 episodes. There is only 10 left. But we only see is yoon su 's story only (YS andSH, YS andSHIN). if the story has to be like this they should choose YScharcter as female lead from start. And we won't waste our time for watching her. This is a youthful drama but in last two episode , i can' t find it.

Well I came also to a conclusion about this.

In the first two episodes we got an eye- and heart-candy.
The leaders were great, they were impressed by eachother and both are still pretty strong charachters.
Each of them in their own way.

And they noticed there is interesting material for friendship, for their music, or even for felling in love.

It was Shins personality who brought them in the first place to make this bet. (which music is better.)
And it was her personality who didn`t back off. Just because he threatened.

And of course she is pretty much trustworthy and brave.
And I agree with some of you, the thing what she is trying to do is not clinging on him, its trying to help him in his worse situation......because it happened always when she was around. So she saw it always with her own eyes. How can you ignore while you are tryin to get along as friends?
-
And for a person like Shin , it is a big step to write a note and paste in on her forhead. (It was his wish not to see her anymore) .
And it was him who bought a coffee with another note on it for her.
So it was him who tried to hold on this kind of a friendship.
-
Although she developed feelings for him which are more of lovefeelings than friendship, she still didn`t confess to him or did something else which would annoy him.
-
And those two moments where she was caught by him, I think since she pretends always something else, (like she was thinking of a funny story....) its more amusing to him than annoying.
---
But the main point is he is full with his obsession for the ballerina which leaves no room for Ky Won to come in. And another point is, he is been forced to leave his love not because he changed his heart or opinion, but because the lady doesn`t love him back. So it is just pain of rejection what he feels and this is of course not easy to handle.
---
But I like it that this happened to him..
He should taste this feeling too, since he was the one who rejects everyone who even tries to come to him. :)
I know I am mean. :))
--

The question which arise for me is, how will they find to each other?

Well, however you describe it and for whatever reason. In the end its still "clinging" if someone tells you to go away and you still persist in coming back. I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I would do the same in her position. If it was someone I cared about who was hurt...okay if they told me to go away I would give them space. I wouldn't stick around. But I'm sure some people would keep clinging on in an attempt to help the loved one out.

hurm...i love every description you point out here... especially this one...

"Although she developed feelings for him which are more of love feelings than friendship, she still didn't confess to him or did something else which would annoy him"

and i know that KW can't just ignore Shin altogether since she can see that Shin is not a bad person from few small actions he portray before...like shin said he want to hear she play the gugak again..or the time when he gave her a ride on his bike... all these small actions from him change her perspective of him and gradually makes KW closer to Shin...

i guess that's y KW chasing after Shin since she feel close to him and try to repay his kindness by being by his side....but the problem is...she's falling in love with him already and it makes her can't ignore Shin more while he is hurting...and in the process, she is hurting too...

1. possibility:

She leaves this place where she was again wittness of Shins feelings...
Full in pain but not been able to tell anyone she plays on her kayakum a sad melody in the middle of the night while others were sleeping. (except shin) He was kind of dozing and living in memories while the melody of her play touches him and lifts his soul up.....

The next day when they meet in school she will probably give him the necklace she found and will heed to practice.
Leaving him all by himself won`t be possible because they need a guitarist.
So while they were waiting for him in the practiceroom, the director will look for another guy, since he predicts he won`t come.
But then Shin appears and takes his position .....:)

During practice he will still try to take glimpses of the ballerina , but wouldn`t be able not to see the chemistry while singing between the other lead singer and Ky Won.
And this kind of a situation can be the keypoint of his changes......

2nd possibility:

after witnessing this scene with shin, she might turn around and walk away, but because she was hurt and kind a lost in her feelings she walks straight into the next car which is director who nearly knocked her down.
(what a coincidence)
He takes her and drives her home , while trying to find out the reason for her bad mood.
Because of the long conversation between them and because director tries to bring Ki Won in a better mood, he acts a little wierd which is been eyecatched from shin and ballerina who are also coming back....
Althogh this moment will be akward for ballerina and Director it will bring her in a position where she can ask Shin about his situation and at least allows her to show a little careness because of his sitution....(lost of his father)
-
Because of her gratitude she will laugh and greet the director whenever she sees him and this will be caught again by Shin ....which will arise his interest in her....
Maybe just because he is annoyed because of the director...but it will lead to the next step......

Ep7 Short Written Preview
“Shin managed to come to terms with his feelings and is better able to cope with his emotions (I guess this implies that he’s finally able to let go of his feelings for the Prof). Having been caught in the heavy downpour, this has caused Kyu Won to fall sick. For the 100th anniversary musical production, it’s been decided that the closing piece would be a fusion of traditional and rock music. Shin is tasked with composing this musical piece. On the other hand, Seok Hyun has Kyu won in mind as the leading actress for the musical”.

I have never watched a show where the romantic lead is so disliked.
Joo Won, who we all called jerk and jerky jerk was appealing because of his quirkiness and his puppy love for Key Lime, but Shin really really really is unappealing as the first lead. Mopey Ballerina is just plain annoying now.

I appreciate trying to break all stereotypes, really I do.

But when everyone is rooting for SH and KW to get together, I wonder if the writers knew what they were creating with this Shin guy loving MB so much. Did they think we would get behind him and his stalker ways?

I think PSH is doing a great job. I feel bad that she is stuck in this storyline, though.

We need more cowbell gayageum!

I think that you are correct.
It would be tough to resist a heart-broken Kim Soo Hyun.
In fact, it would be a totally different show if KSH had been cast.

I have an idea, let's get a do-over and recast KSH as Shin!

The low ratings are proving that putting an idol in doesn't necessarily add up to more viewers. Although, like Playful Kiss, the show may be getting more interest overseas than in SK because of PYH...

Required fields are marked *

I don't think everyone dislikes the lead. I like the lead. JYH may not be doing stellar acting here but he's doing okay for the role. His character is written as a semi-jerk. I don't think Lee Shin is such a bad person. He's just irritated by infatuated school girls on hormones and he has his own personal problems. I'm sure everyone has played hookey or late for class or whatnot for whatever reason. He is just a normal guy. As for Shin loving the ballerina so much. Some youngsters have fallen in love with their teachers as a crush. There's even some controversial dramas about it such as "Majo no Jouken/Forbidden Love". Just the teacher isn't reciprocating the love. This isn't something unrealistic. It's part of growing up. Falling in love, heart break, falling in love again. SH won't end up with KW because KW doesn't believe in age differences. Shin doesn't care about age differences. What's age but a number. As for stalking, Shin isn't the only one stalking. KW is always following Shin around. She's stalking too!

*You Fallen For me*
(A case of mistaken identity)

Before YFFM air their first episode, I knew that it was a “youth melodrama,” so I did not let my hopes ups, in the sense that I knew it was going to be different than “Dream High,” or “You Are Beautiful,” even when it was advertise as a musical drama/rom-com/youth-melo.

I personally like this drama a lot, since I was not expecting to compete with the other two mention dramas, but I think is a case of people trying to make YFFM something that it is not.

From the beginning of episode #1 we know that Lee Shin, is infatuated with ballerina Yoon Soo, and the rectangle was establish, and as far as I can tell the drama while a bit slow has kept the love triangle moving quite smooth.

I personally like that fact that he is in love with her teacher, and that, the other main lead, and second lead is taking the back burner per se, I know that a lot of people are thinking that Kyu Won is being wasted, while Yoon Soo still chasing after teacher, but from my point of view Kyu Won is not being wasted, she is the younger Female Lead who is starting to compete for the love of Yoon Soo, and the other teacher is doing what he can to rekindle what he once had with the ballerina, overall IMHO, the story line has a very logical sense of being, thus why I do like it a lot, is very relatable. I think the Korean fans, and a lot of fans abroad, are not giving Jung Yong-hwa, a chance and he is being criticize unfairly, I think from his days in, You Are Beautiful, he has improve a lot, and as for Park Shin Hye/Lee Kyu Won she definitely is no Go Mi-nam.
Musically YFFM, is as good as DH or YAB. I do hope that the ratings get better, but IMHO the story line needs a bit more direction to make it better, I do hope the knew writers can me consistent other wise I fear another Lie To Me in the making!!!!!

I agree with you. YFFM may not be what others want it to be, but for a drama that centres around youth, growth and love, it's doing a pretty good job.

The characters are believable and relatable. I personally like KW and S, they are not perfect but they are learning and discovering themselves, hopefully both will become someone stronger and more dependable by the end of the drama. I agree that people have been unfair towards JYH, he's not fantastic but he's not a block of wood either, I, for one, am happy with his reserved portrayal of S.

I realise I was a little frustrated and impatient with some of the relationship developments before, but I am starting appreciate what they have going now, just hope that they won't take it too slooowly. the flashbacks need to be cut down, it's not necessary to remind us what happened less than 5 minutes ago, honestly.

I hope they would direct the focus back onto the students and the musical production now. Yes, please bring back rock v gukak!!!

a thought occurred to me...

jokingly, anyone want to venture a guess when shin will finally kiss kyuwon? ^_^

it's episode 6 already and the only person in the cast to get any form of PDA is...the dance prof! She gets teasing/flirtation in the flashbacks (from director) and a peck on the lips from shin!

Kyuwon has....a director that ruffles her hair as if she's a pet, a grab at her wrist to keep her from throwing money in his face (shin) and a post-it note on her forehead. (Heck, even cleaning out the drama room seems to be maybe 7-9 inches away from each other...)

sigh...

At this rate, the first kiss for the pair might be on the stage for the musical itself.

oh well... (I wanna see shin grovel at kyuwon's feet)

But the story is just about buying coffee and being obnoxious, so far. I want to see some spark of relationship get going. Tired of the dance teacher who apparently forgot to pack a personality before she left home. Come on - a kid tries to put a necklace around your neck and kisses you and all you can do is stand there like a bush? I like it okay but it could be so much more. Hope the story picks up - because the stars have so much more potential.

Here come my 2 cents fellows. lol. It's like I'm busy sticking my nose to places that talks about HT. I can't help it *pat self*

Okay, I'm not even going to express how awesome you guys made me feel when barging in here and see my post shared by a few kind souls, not to mention here (sp) and there (fb). I suspect that you guys were the ones that gave me the plus on soompi forum? Here I am thinking it might be just me. Ha! Oh well, I'm on cloud nine, nevertheless.

I don't want to repeat myself again because I guess probably those who dislike the drama will continue disliking it and those who find it irresistible will continue staying with it to the end.

The point I'd like to make here in db, and please excuse my possible silliness, is that despite the fact that this drama is never going to be Kiyoung or whoever that is, they keep complaining and whining to either let the said guy take over the lead or change the lead altogether (my poor Yonghwa), which I think is absolutely unappreciative and unfair. Well, again, it might be just me.

Like many of you here often remind us, if one doesn't like watching a drama, one should ignore it and go away. Plain and simple.

I really don't understand why people have to hate and give out nasty, hurtful comments. I mean, I know the leads' acting might not be superb and the story line might not be an award winning script, heck, it might even be cliche to some extend, which i subsequently find the same in most of the favorite dramas here, but I never, never once say it out loud, because what's the point of saying - hey, let's ditch the main lead and find a better guy for it, I can't stand the sight of his mediocre acting skill.

What would really be the point? Sure it's to voice out your disappointment, or even anger, because the expected drama isn't up to personal standard, but really everyone, there are too many ways out there to express your frustration WITHOUT being insensitive and being such jackass. I know it's a generalization I'm making because there are people who criticize for better purpose, but it doesn't mean it doesn't hurt my little unworthy self to see people work hard and get dished just because other people out there are just plain cruel.

How I wish people would stop giving Yonghwa their cold shoulder and the director/scriptwriters such a hard time. I don't see what's wrong with a realistic scenario where a guy loves his girl and reluctantly/stubbornly when he should to move on just because the girl doesn't reciprocates. Love hurts and takes to heal. What's so hard to understand that?

If you can't accept the drama, move on, but don't leave behind untoward comments/remarks, even though I know it's a free world.

Well again, maybe it might be just me.

peace, peace, peace.

Off I go.

0

Required fields are marked *

Hi Kayti,

Thanks for reading, and sorry for making you confused with my post. To answer your question, it's a no and no.

No, we don't have to only say positive things about a show just to please other people. And no, we don't have to stop watching it because it sucks. All I'm saying is, we should be civilize and kind to the show we're watching because there are a lot of people liking it and by complaining, some even whining, I don't think it helps the show in whatever way.

You can look around in this blog, or others, or in soompi thread for HT, not everyone is praising the drama plot, even the actor/actress's acting. Instead, they constructively criticize the drama with logic and kind words. And that, is all I'm saying we should.

But that doesn't mean you, or anyone else, have to do exactly the same thing. You can still watch the drama and hate its gut. You can still love the idea that you think the drama is supposed to be and dislike the real show. You can still go around read comments about HT and leave your own. Like I said, it's a free world.

But if the drama bugs people so much, to the extend that they have to spit out hurtful comments, I humbly suggest they should switch drama and ignore it altogether. Wouldn't that be easier?

And I'm not saying you, Kayti, are amongst one of those with a tongue full of venom. Please don't feel offended.

I might be wrong in what I'm thinking, or wrong in any possible way. But I'm sure all of us, who started to watch the drama, be it one full episode or just a glimpse of the first episode, was once kind-hearted to begin with.

So, with all my respect, I sincerely hope we could continuously to be that way with this drama, no matter how bad or disappointing it might become in the end.

I absolutely love Park Shin Hye and Jung Yong Hwa, and I think that they are expressing themselves perfectly, according to their respective personalities in this drama. At the same time, I am wondering how much more "angst" my heart can take! So many powerful emotions have already been expressed...I am ready for things to lighten up just a bit. :)
The story line has been laid out for us, now it is time for the "meat" of the story to begin...Heartstrings, fighting!!! :)

i just watched the subbed version of ep 6 and (my crazy speculations)...

for some reason, i think shin grabs kyu-won's instrument mostly to make sure she follows him. (a strange cry for companionship and company?)

...and while hopefully shin and kyu-won aren't siblings...neither do i think kyu-won and the brat are sisters either. (I think that maybe shin's mom maybe found a nice(?) guy tried to make something out of out and got the brat...and then somehow that relationshp fell apart due to emotional baggage

the other thing that made me pause/chuckle was the dance prof's comment that hee joo would make a better lead. Jokingly, maybe because the dance prof sees a lot of herself in Hee Joo (i mean, the nicknames alone are similar "exercise freak for one...or something like that...and the fact the one guy to chase her and charm her is maybe a saner version of mr drummer boy) and if the musical is sorta of the dance prof's story...then it's almost natural that she'd want a better(?) student to protray her younger self. At the same time, maybe she's a little nervous about the director's fondness for kyu-won... (probably all of the above) It also seems that since the director is determined to have kyu-won play lead, maybe the teachers' aren't completely reconciled/resolved (if nothing else, doesn't the director have obligations to the US supposedy...unless he just abondons all to also stay permanantly at the school...hmm)....oh well. We'll see on that, I guess.

oh yeah! could someone explain the details of the term "melodrama," please? for some reason, i'm beginning to wonder if there'll be a happy happy ending (like...city hall or secret garden or even sungkyungkwan scandal) for this series....or if it will be a overall happy ending (like kyu-wn and shin get together but one has to go overseas to study and whatnot...like shining inheritance...or like dream high--where the leads DO kiss, but....) or a technical happy ending (like maybe cinderella's sister or royal family or 49 days even)

jokingly, if the text preview of ep 7 is to believed, then kyu-won's gonna be sick...i'm almost beginning to feel bad for the cast of said musical and director regarding that because if kyu-won beomces sick...she either has to goto rehearsal sick or...miss one (and the director's gonna need to come up with ANOTHER exemption? ^_^)

okay, i'll stop now. really. ^_^

This drama reminds me so much of "They kiss again" even the umbrella and the raining part. And, I feel like they've copy little bits of pieces of some drama like the Coffee in City Hunter? Pls to those who watch it: Please don't kill me.

But I feel like the flow of the story is so confused that they lost who the real main character are. Right now if I don't know the synopsis of the story I would have taught the drama revolves around the mom and the love triangle or the director and the professor. It's like the drama should be called "the story of the past triangle" lol

I agree to some of the comments here. It seems like the lead just lost her identity. Well, I guess when your young your emotion rules over your head?

I hope it gets better soon.
