First?
Congrats Sari, on being first!
Happy Friday!
Who’s dying to watch episode 5 of Scent of a Woman tomorrow?? Have seen the gorgeous photos of KSA and LDW at a Tango classroom… squee!!!
Me! Me!!
KSA. LDW. Tango?! Where, where? Point me the direction please!
Me three!! lol
Me four
Despite thinking that I should not touch this drama since the ending is going to be other than “happily ever after….”, I can’t help but look forward to it.
“Live in the moment” moments that Kim Sun-ah portrays in the first few episodes are very inspirational, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the writers and actors to continue to surprise me
So3, Love the tango!!!! Brings back haller sweet memories!!! Encore?? lol I have made sure my diary is free for SOW.
kfan13, I agree with you about the live-in-the-moment moments – I am enjoying it too, just like I am enjoying her transformation to do all the things she wants to do before she dies.
I dont think about the ending. I am enjoying KSA touching everyone’s life. This drama has a life-affirming vibe and that makes it so exciting and so good to watch!!! I cant wait for KSA to live an indelible mark on everyone around her and hopefully make them all a better person for it… I cant wait for KSA to have some if not all her dreams come true!!!
Of course, if its a ‘last holiday’ ending I would be disappointed with its unoriginality but other than that I am just enjoying the ride so to speak!!!
Saturday come quickly!!!!!!
Qd, I think tango will play a larger part in SoW than in CH (not the Hunter, hmm, u know
) … and I am so looking forward to seeing how the writer will play with this theme.
It feels like a blessing to watch this drama every week
OMG! You were absolutely spot on with your TANGO prediction! It is all the craze now! Cant wait for more tango!
So3 ! Shall we dance? LOL
Que Que! Where? This is the second time she’s doing the Tango. I wonder who will be the better dance partner CSW or LDW?
Hi Noelle, you can see the pix at soompi’s thread on SoW
http://www.soompi.com/forums/topic/365768-drama-2011-scent-of-a-woman-%EC%97%AC%EC%9D%B8%EC%9D%98-%ED%96%A5%EA%B8%B0/
omg i cant wait!!!!
I must start watching this! I’ve got the dramacrazy page open, lol.
So3,
Hi there! I haven’t caught onto the SOAW. I watched episode 1 and parts of ep 2 but didn’t get into it. I read on some of the other comments that things seem to pick up in episode 4.
By which episode were you hooked?
Well, I pretty much got hooked from the very first episode. I mean, with KSA’s acting I just can’t allow myself to miss this goodie.
Yes the main plot isn’t something new but I find the execution refreshing and they’ve got a great cast for this drama. 4 episodes in I think both the PD and writer nim are really trying to aim high and I feel quite thankful to that. I mean, as an audience I’m just purely enjoying without much input
Not overly dramatic – me like. I know a lot of dramas put in some obvious cliffhangers that actually make the whole narration incoherent but so far SoW hasn’t got into such temptation and I do appreciate that.
I really don’t understand why everyone admires KSA’s acting! in every drama she makes the same ugly faces which are supposed to be funny or smth. I would really like to like her( ’cause the dramas themselves are pretty good from the first glance
Nokke,
Hi! I’d have to say, it’s all personal preference. I too have some actors/actresses that I don’t really like, no matter how hard I try.
It’s okay.
I agree, it is second weekend, ep 3 or 4, that made me want to watch the drama more
ME ME ME , I have been in sort of daze waiting for scent of a woman, all the actors and especially the lead ones r my fav, how i survived till now is a mystri, ok i know i am over doing it a bit, but i really feel it this way.
mystery sorry
I’ve been waiting for this week”s episodes of Heartstrings. I couldn’t contain my excitement that I actually watched them RAW. Now I’m just waiting for kaedejun” s recap. So excited for next week!!! I should be studying for my nursing exam…
me too!!! i need ep 10 & 11 recaps…why is it sooooo late to be post here..T_T
If you want, you can check out the recaps for episode 10 and 11 of Heartstrings that I posted on my blog
Probably not as good as DB recaps but they might tide you over till they’re posted here
Silver!
Wow! I didn’t know you can recap! I am excited to check it out! But I must watch the episodes first.
I didn’t know I could recap either
But then I started to and now I can’t seem to stop. *scratches head in mild embarrassment* It;s mostly because whenever I am in love with a drama(or film, book, song), I feel the need to rant about it, and Heartstrings was just the thing that pushed me over the edge and got me to start ranting in blog form XD
I hope you will enjoy reading them
Be sure to let me know what you think!
Silver,
I skimmed over the last recap. It was pretty good! I’ll be sure to read it before I watch next time, so it will be fresh and I’ll read the whole thing. Then I’ll give you my 2 cents.
Patience patience, it’s not exactly their job to recap, ya know.
ep10 (eng sub) is up on MySoju! and it was so freaking adorable!!! I couldn’t stop gushing, grinning and flailing my arms like an idiot. I should be doing some studying too, but argh, I can’t think about anything else. Desperately needing ep 11 now, hope it’s not as angsty as the preview suggested.
I was anticipating episode 10 so much that i watched it admist exams! It got me all giddy and fangirling~
I am reluctant to watch ep 11 cause i see a storm brewing for our couple..and we JUST got them together all sweet and sugar coated in 10!
blue1004.wordpress.com recaps Heartstrings too if you are impatient for Kaedejun’s. Every episode is named after a song title and she even gives you background info and lyrics on them.
Heartstrings ep 10 & 11 are up with subtitles on DramaFever.
Em,
I’m catching up. I’ve just finished Ep 10!!!!!!! Loved it!
I hope you save enough time for your nursing exam. They are really tough. I have a friend who studied and studied but never was able to pass the test. Yes, my friend was always a bit slow. Ended up becoming a nanny for a family who had a special needs child for some years to follow.
So, don’t forget to study!!! Very Important!!! But, I think you may be a very smart cookie and I hope you pass!!!
Oh, that little sister is a ganster. How do you spell it in Korean Gompeda?
Who’s loving Protect the Boss? It rocks, the first episode was good but the second was awesome! Ji Sung is fantastic in this role.
me me me! super duper in love with it! i laugh and cry the whole episodes… i like all actors + the acting! Jaejoong and Jisung are just lovable. I’m waiting to see more of Jaejoong’s side.
And the ratings went up to 17% on the 2nd ep! a very good start!
Dramabeans please please please do a recap on Protect the Boss! thanks a LOT!
SORRY LAUGH AND SMILE not cry. LOL
(what’s wrong with me? ^^)
but maybe we will cry, because the drama is not only funny, it has a lot of touching moments too
I like Ji Heon and his dad’s relationship, and of course Eun Seol is kind of adorable so far XD
Koala’s playground did recaps, but I’m waiting for the subs. This show seems to have all the elements I like about korean drama. Comedy, romance, eye candy, and a girl who can kick ass when she needs to. Come on subs!!! Why didn’t I learn korean instead of english when I was a kid (shaking fist in air)
I watched it raw and got the gist of it easily, but will watch again with the subs. I’d love java’s recap though, I bet there are nuances and jokes that subs won’t really explain.
Yes please, javabeans, your recaps are always the best…..
You can find them at viki.com
They seem to be taking a while, but I’m trying to be productive and not mutter anything too poisonous waiting…
It’s just a K-Drama, right?
Yeah. Right.
It’s best for all Kdrama addicts to learn Korean. This will alleviate much stress and promote happy feelings toward all fellow addicts. Just don’t drink a bunch of coffee, it will completely negate learning Korean!
me too! Just discovered this yesterday and breezed through the 2 eps… Glad to see Jisung in a Modern Day role and JJ in Kr drama after watching in the jdrama Hard to say I love u. They are both looking good.
I admire JJ for quietly taking on second lead roles to build his repertoire instead of taking on a lead role (which I’m sure he gets offers for) like his idol counterparts. Good on him!
Does Jisungs public speaking jitters remind anyone of King’s speech? I kept thinking about that…
And can i say WELCOME BACK IN HEE BOT? Hope for the actress’s sakes she won’t get fixed into this type of role…
Happy Friday all!
I’m also liking Jaejoong in this drama too. I was expecting to not care for him, but his character plays well against Ji Sung’s character. Their relationship sort of reminds me of Joo-won and Oska’s relationship in Secret Garden, but on a smaller scale. And furthermore, they both look similar and I can easily imagine them to be cousins.
Whoa, wait… In Hee Bot is back? Character or actress? Wait, don’t tell me. I have to catch up on my Kdramas!!!!!
Really?? I guess I’ll be watching!
Update: Just finished the first episode. It’s hilarious! I honestly don’t know what I like so much about it. I’m thinking it’s Ji Sung. I LOVE his character!
Then you’ll like the second even more! I agree with you, Ji Sung’s character is just likeable and endearing in some way
Loving it too!! It is too funny!!!!!
Nah, du!
Laugh out loud silly funny, then, bam, touching and sweet.
When he called ES’s name, then repeated it like a mantra, I stopped breathing for a second. Love the fact that she is the one who he wants to help him, and she has NO clue how to.
I hope the writers put their developing trust and friendship WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAy ahead of the romance.
I could see them not having confessed feelings until the very last episodes.
Both characters need the other right now to grow and get past their pasts first.
I am loving Koala’s recaps.
Is DB recapping it?
I haven’t watched it yet, but I plan to once YFFM ends. I promised YFFM undying love and support, and by golly, I intend to give it!
Also, i don’t think I can take watching another drama that is currently airing right now. City Hunter took a lot out of me, and now with Heartstrings and Myung Wol both driving me crazy with anticipation, I have to at least give PTB some time for more than one or two episodes to add up
it’s my new crack!! LOVE IT SO MUCH! It’s beating out Scent of a Woman and Myung-wol the Spy for me. I LOL-ed so many times and the actors/actresses are a pleasure to watch. Work starts in about 1 minute, so will gush more abt it later! =P
I haven’t really watched Jisung and Choi kang Hee before, and I was a bit don’t care with this drama…
but the trailer looks fun… so I watched ep 1 then 2 RAW…
And just like that, I enjoy the bright and brisk storyline and have a good laugh simply by looking it RAW…
waiting for the sub though…
Unexpectedly, I like Jisung and CHoi Kang Hee’s characters on screen and their interactions
I also like the other casts and looking forward for further development in the story
I am liking it ,too . The two leads are doing great with their characters . Good start to this drama.
Just finished Ep 1 & 2 yesterday and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! Sure it’s the whole poor girl rich chaebol setting again, but it the characters that caught my heart!
Jisung’s character is one major FLAIL fragile hero (oops, we have another ‘hero’ in the drama, sighs, TVXQ-fangirl-mode nips in) I think, I’ve never seen so many ‘flail-ness’ and weaknesses piled into a male lead. Or maybe I just don’t watch enough Kdramas to know my stuff. Hahahaha.
Anyways, I’m contented to switch modes to watch PTB, read Fallen For Me and MyungWol in recaps ^^
i love Protect the Boss.. Is dramabeans gonna do recap?? I’ve been refreshing lke forever waiting ^^ but i’ll wait as long as they tell us they will do recap on that lovely show
Happy friday n happy fasting month for all moslem in the world.
Whoa…..thanks
happy ramadan
Aw thanks~ it’s so hard this year, in London the day has gone longer therefore we have to break our fast nearly 9pm!!
To all muslim friends…. FIGHTING~
Happy Friday!
Happy Friday everyone
I just had my wisdom teeth removed and its painful *WAIL* At this rate I will be toothless before am middleaged *weep*
Anyway to help bear with the pain I have been watching a marathon of story of a man and it is so good. It makes CityHunter look like child’s play.
Kyung Tae and Eun Soo are so cute, Kyungah is not as smart as I thought she was at the begining. Chae oo Woo has some kind of love/infatuation with his sister Eunsoo.
Anyway I can’t seem to get a stupid Kesha song from my head. I need help
Ooooh, that really is uncomfortable all around.
You will heal, don’t worry!
(I Lost about 5 lbs when I had my WT removed.)
You need a new ear worm, how about this one?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6TwzSGYycM
LOL, watching this video I suddenly had a flashback to Eric’s Kang Woo
Oh dramas, what are you doing to me?
Thanks Jomo.
I wish I could loose 5 lbs too.
The video was okay one of the very few k-pop videos I have watched. There are so many members in the group. I wonder if they all get a chance to sing or are they just given a line to sing
I was talking to Mom about the 9+ members of k-pop groups. I can’t really wrap my head around it, to be honest.
super junior <3
super junior – mr. simple <3 WATCH!
Awww Shiku my weeping watermelon, be well!
I hope you can handle the pain. My uncle had his removed and he was moaning half the time.
Hi Ricky the Royal Spy
How have you been? Wisdom teeth are such a pain
Happy Friday, Shiku!
More wisdom teeth pulled? Oh hun! I only had 2 to be pulled and what an ordeal. I agree with Jomo, I definitely lost 5lbs while unable to eat solid food. Plus dealing with my annoying coworkers mocking my choice of dental surgeons. Hello, they were growing in sideways…it takes a little extra to get them out.
Anywho, this isn’t about me. *hugs!* Feel better, dear.
Oh Shiku! *HUGS*
I hope you feel better soon.
Happy Friday everyone….
Watched the Finale of I Need Romance last night. And I can’t say I love the ending. The ending is realistic and some what predictable… Don’t want to give out any spoiler.. all I can say is that I love Sung Hyun.. I will always have a soft spot for him.
I am enjoying YFFM this week… but the ending of ep11 kind of make me nervious… can’t wait for the next week episode.
I actually was pleased with the finale of INR, to the extent that I hope that there ISN’T going to be a season 2. I feel comfortable and happy with the state in which each of our girls ended up.
Of course, if season 2 does happen, I know that I will be constantly refreshing Dramafever every five minutes waiting for the episodes like I did for this season and will love just hanging out with In Young, Seo Yeon, and Hyun Joo again.
agree with you.. I don’t love the ending but am satisfy… this drama come across very real to me.
I don’t think season 2 will be good idea… I think INR has already covered a lot of ground in terms of love and romance.. if they are going to have a new season.. I would want to see a new cast with cameo of current cast…
Hang on…was it you who raved about INR here?I ended up watching ep 13-16.
I didn’t quite know why everyone hated SS but it wasn’t a bad drama.I am happy I just got the ending.
However since everyone loved SH to bits I didn’t dare comment that IY just went back to someone familiar?I mean she was with him for ?10years or something?
The problem is that SS cheated on IY.. not once but twice… I think the cheating is making me not like SS as much.. I don’t hate him but I just prefer SH. But I think at the end SS did redeem himself for admitting his wrong doing in front of IY’s parents.
Actually he only cheated once..with Kang Hee the other time was just a misunderstanding. He explained that in the last ep, i believe?
I actually like SS and SH equally, they were actually equally flawed.
I think it was wayyyyy too much of SH to ask IY to abandon everything even her name for him. He lost A LOT of points there from me and SS being more mature toward the latter of INR earned him A LOT of points. So i was satisfied by the ending.
Beside, after SS know the price of losing IY i am sure he will be faithful frm now on.
Lol yep, that would be me. What I mean is that I love how realistically yet positively things ended on this drama, and I am concerned with the kind of plot shenanigans that might appear in order to cause conflict in the second season.
I am pleased with the ending too. I thought it was realistic given the nature of the relationships. I really liked INR.
i started watching this show yesterday. and prefering IY with SH more and more. while buffering Ep12 this morning, i checked the spoiler for the final episode. OMG my heart was crushed into pieces, i couldnt continue watching anymore. i HATE HATE HATE the ending and In Young! curse you writer!
how i miss City Hunter…
So sad it’s over! I’ll miss I need romance! Really sad for SH and woudn’t have minded if they put him and IY together, but the writers really bust their butt to redeem SS in the last 2 eps. I really liked it that although they affected their children’s mentality in relationships, the parents were pretty agreeable except HJ’s mom. Def agree that it’s an entertaining, refreshing and realistic series.
My heart broke into pieces with SH..
I love the last time that the IY and SH spent together.. damned I am gonna miss SH.
I know I felt so sad for him. I know what happen to IY, because I kind of been in a similar place…but SH loved her so much.
Hated the ending of I Need Romance with a passion.
Ultimately I felt it was dishonest writing.
I was suspicious of the first episode of ‘cheating’ before episode 16, because it was never elaborated on. Episode 16 validated my suspicion. As written it makes the first ‘cheating’ an over-reaction by In-Young. So the first ‘cheating’ episode was a straw man to make Sung-Soo look VERY bad, and by making it not a cheating episode made him see less bad.
But it didn’t work. Because if In-Young was that upset about a misunderstanding-how did Sung-soo think she would do when her fears were realized?
I so hated how In-Young treated Sung-Hyun during Episode 15 and 16 that I washed my hands of her.
The only scene that worked for me was Sung-Soo’s apology to In-Young’s parents. It made visceral how intertwined their lives were and how difficult it would be to make a clean break.
Hmm…your points are very interesting and I find myself agreeing with you. I found it awkward that IY made such a huge deal with SS’ cheating and then found herself back with him because he seems to be “more sincere”? I guess the question I have is: Can you really trust someone who has cheated once already? More importantly, even if SS did turn over a new leaf and remained faithful and sincere in his feelings for IY, can IY really let the past go and not overreact on SS future excuses? I’ve known couples (married ones) where one spouse cheated on the other and although they went through counseling and reconciled, the cheated-on spouse confessed that they never truly “got over” the betrayal and tend to be mistrustful of the other spouse when things look suspicious when the cheating spouse calls to say he/she is working late due to a sudden deadline or getting caught up in traffic and so on.
I feel like this drama took the theme of betrayal and treated it gratuitously to create conflict within the storyline but was never really truly addressed the PROBLEM with it. But perhaps it’s because Jung Hoon is the main male lead and the writers had both SS and IY together “through thick and thin in the end, no matter what happens”. But I personally feel that SH and IY had better chemistry on screen than IY and SS did. But maybe that’s because I found Choi Jin Hyuk (the actor portraying SH) a better actor and more realistic than I did Kim Jung Hoon. In any case, maybe the real point is that through life and all of its turbulence, it’s really important to have true friends who stick by you and care for you and love you for who you are.
Wasn’t excited about the ending of I Need Romance, but enjoyed the show overall.
SPOILERS
I would have preferred if In young stayed with Sung hyun and tried to find a compromise like he wanted to, but really the story gave a realistic portrayal of when one person has more love than the other in a relationship. I feel bad for Sung hyun, but at least he’s still young and can grow and find another woman who will love him as much as he loves her.
I would have preferred In young be alone than be with Sung soo because as much as the show worked to redeem him, he doesn’t deserve In young. Also the fact the show made his 1st cheating issue a misunderstanding was a cop out. If In young was going to accept him then they should have let her accept him as we’ve known him all along rather than try to pretend that we just got him wrong…
I’m not sure how I feel about how In young’s parents reacted to Sung soo cheating…. I can’t decide if it was incredibly genuine, sincere, and a refreshing portrayal of parents or if it was completely unrealistic and no parent would react that way to hearing a man confess to hurting their daughter so much.
In young and Sung soo are like those friends you have who have a messed up relationship– always have some drama going on or they are arguing or something. They are still together and you don’t know why, but that’s just how it is. They are in it till the end and for them no one needs to understand what they have, but the two of them.
Overall breezy enjoyable kdrama. Could have used a little more heart. Seo yeon and Yun joo just started to have more compelling storylines in ep. 15, but they didn’t go very far. Sung hyun was the most compelling character IMO. Ironically Sung hyun and In young’s relationship was the most interesting to watch develop and root for as opposed to the main pairing… No OTP magic there though.
Definitely an easy watch for when you’re stuck home sick.
Sorry, first time posting, but I just had to ask: Will javabeans or girlfriday recap Protect the Boss?
Not sure.. but I found the recap on Koala’s Playground.
http://koalasplayground.com/
Welcome to the OT, Mina
Dunno if you’ve joined in other conversations, but we’d be happy to see/hear from you on other stuff, too.
Mina!
Welcome to the OT! I hope to read more comments about dramas from you in the future!
Happy friday everyone..
Can’t wait for my new computer monitor to get here, so I can get back to my drama land ….
Everyone have a great weekend..:))
Happy Friday, Keiki55! Don’t suffer too hard. It will all be better soon
Happy weekend.
Keiki55! *HUGS*
Oh, you poor thing! I empathize with you. I hope it gets there soon!
Happy friday everyone!
i’m watching Spy Myeongwol and its been a fun ride for me so far. Especially after the badass ending in episode 8, its going to be more interesting.
i love the fact that the drama still stick being romance-comedy genre. and its getting better each episode!
cant wait or episode 9!
im honestly losing interest in this drama. Kang Woo is a copycat of Dokko Jin, even the way he talks and acts. ugh.
also, the story is quite meh. it tries too hard to both mix comedy and serious stuff. seriously, trying to get hitched with a Hallyu star? that’s the secret mission of the female lead? and then we get the hidden, overarching storyline of the books and Kang Woo’s connection with it, and so far not a thing has been revealed.
when i saw Kangwoo in first few episode, i also see Dokko Jin in Kangwoo’s character..but, after each episodes and till now reach episode 8, i didnt see Dokko in him anymore..
Kangwoo just being Kangwoo
Really? I don’t feel bored at all. For me, it’s an adventure into Absurdity that I’m really enjoying. But then again, I grew up loving Steve Martin, Monty Python, SNL, Bill and Ted, Tim Burton, and discovered Tom Stoppard and Catch-2s in high school.
But this is the first time I’ve seen it in a Korean drama. And I hope it sets a new wave for surreal comedy in Asia.
It’s no more unbelievable than “girl has to disguise herself as a boy to (insert theme)” or “girl from the middle class finds herself inexplicably targeted by a rich boy and her sour personality turns him on.” Or “Ajhumma becomes housekeeper to Movie Star and wins his heart with her kindness (and his Oedipus complex.)”
I find the developments in their relationship perfectly believable and I’m willing to go along with the ride until the book thing is explained, since the writing team did switcheroo a bit.
I agree… I love the absurdity and surrealism of this drama. Of course the premise is unrealistic and ridiculous, but that’s what makes it so hilarious and so much fun to watch.
I also haven’t seen this type/style of kdrama before (although I’m still fairly new to kdramas) — it has an all-around different feel to it, for me.
I like it, Spy Myung-Wol. I love to laugh and it makes me laugh. Life can be way too stressful without laughter.
But if you don’t like it… Then you just don’t like it. I have found lots of dramas like that.
It’s okay not to like something that other people like… REALLY!!!
i wonder if JB/GF will recap protect the boss :S
Project The Boss: Ok, let me say first I am a Jaejoong fan. But it is sad each time I see those huge bags under his eyes. I think is a combination of sleepless nights and loosing weight. They should do something about it, he is not the main character so he should rest more. His image is like his character is going to be sick anytime soon. ajajja
Scent of a Woman: It is weird that I want her to teach Jin Wook a leason of life so he can go on, and want her to really fall in love with the doctor? I want her to change his way of practicing medicine. That way she will change both lifes and end up in a realistic way. Ummm just thinking… maybe I change my opinion later. It is just too soon. Why they always have to end up with the rich guy?
I want her to fall in love with the doctor too! And I agree, maybe is too soon and maybe I would change my mind later, but it would be a pleasant surprise.
I wouldn’t mind if she ended up with the doctor, but then he couldn’t be her doctor anymore. Reminds me of Izzy from Grey’s Anatomy, although she went just a little bit psycho!
So isn’t the doctor pretty well off too even if he’s not a chaebol? A lot of kdramas have people in professions which would make them pretty affluent in the U.S., but they are middle class or even poor in Korean kdrama world. (My favorite was the poor plastic surgeon, Yoon Mi joo, from the Lovers trilogy. The poorest plastic surgeon that ever did live!) Are doctors and lawyers etc. not necessarily well paid professions in Korea? Just wondering…
I need Romance’s ending sucks X(
ditto!
gimme back my hours show!
EXACTLY! I feel like i invested in a dud. I mean, yes it’s realistic, but does it make me happy to see Sung Hyun dumped? Not one bit.
Hello everyone here to do a quick wave.I am off to watch MNIKSS ep 1 and 2 before bed.
Have a good weekend all.I start holidays next week for 4 weeks overseas.Made sure I have Internet for my Myung Wol,Heartstrings,SOAW and Drunken to Love You. In between shopping.
Life is just peachy, just need a bit more alcohol to drown a **** workday.Cheers
Have a good time on OT.
Have fun on your vacation! Keep us posted… i don’t know WHEN i’ll be able to squeeze a vacation out of my schedule, this entire year is packed back to back so I’m living vicariously through everyone elses.
Thanks.I intend to do a LOT of shoe window shopping and buying.
Sad to say,I intend to use that time to marathon through 49 Days,Royal Family and Baby Faced Beauty.I didn’t have time during my working week.
Plus still helping for SOAW on viki and prepping for Can’t Lose (with CJW and YSH) and Man of Honor.
I must be insane to do this during my holidays
What do you want to do?I have shopping, roller coaster rides, cycling, swimming, spa, buffets. What strikes your fancy
I could squeeze in elephant rides I suppose.Oh and some jazz live music.
Enjoy your vacay, ck1Oz! And Happy Shopping
ck1Oz,
Have a happy vacation. I hope you stay near a dedicated internet provider because… *GASP* *SOB* I… I… I… don’t think you’ll make it alone!!!!!

ck1Oz, just don’t do it! Stay close, don’t wander away… *SOB* I… I… I… just want you to be safe!!!!!
Happy Friday, everyone!
Absentee addict here since Ep. 20 of City Hunter.
Bonjour, izzie heart!
You feeling good over there?
A lot better, thank you!
Still catching up on YFFM here, and will start with Myul Weol soon. Also, SOW.
miss ya izzieeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
QD!!! *HUGS*
miss ya too!
Still heartbroken here from what happened to Prosecutor in City Hunter, so I’m watching City Hall to enjoy CSW and LJH in one drama. Now that’s an overdose.
BTW, I’ve been to a training on video editing lately, and one of the practice projects that I’m doing is an MV of kdrama actors
(best drama moments, shower scenes… the like)
, which include those of CSW. Wish me luck.
That MV sounds like fun /envious!
and laborious, to add.
I’m still working on my storyboard. So far I have Cha Seung Won, Song Seung Hun, Gong Yoo, Hyun Bin, Lee Min Ho… this list is getting longer the more I look at it. Will it fit a 4.5-minute song? Not sure anymore.
I’m using Janet Jackson’s “All For You” for the music track. If I can’t squeeze all the clips in this song’s duration, I will have to look for track #2. Any suggestions?
Pfft, all I can think of it “It’s Raining Men”
Izzie! Happy Friday! *hugs*
*HUGS* Happy Weekend too, cmr!
♥ iZzie ♥!
*HUGS*
How are you? Have you sufficiently recovered from CH withdrawals? I am guessing that is why you have been absent.
Do you still have the shakes? Have they put you on medication? Just what kind of medicine is available for drama addicts?
I’m sorta like a dram Hobo. I move around too much for them to catch me and put me on drama addict medication.
Or worse, a drambotomy!!! *HORROR* *SCREAM*
Don’t let them get you ♥ iZzie ♥!!!
*HUGS*
CH? Withdrawals? Nope. (nose starts to grow.)
How do I begin with my heartbreak over what happened to Prosecutor?
Okay, change topic. I can’t handle a conversation about that anymore.
I do still have the shakes. The drama docs caught me, but these guys use a different approach. They put me on medication with another CH kind… City Hall. After referring to my addiction record, the docs learned that I still have the Jin virus (as in Dokko Jin), so they prescribed a good serving of City Hall, so I’d stop crying over LJH when I see him with CSW.
I overheard them debating over the next “cure” to administer since I’ve been having dreamy eyes lately. It’s some sort of experiment, I heard them say. The next thing I knew one of them was asking me to sign a waiver, but I was too dazed when I tried to read it so I didn’t sign yet. I only remember a few terms like “ice cream,” “chocolate,” and “Lee Dong Wook.” Should I sign?
Don’t sign anything. Give them the slip!!! When you are out free, do some homeopathic remedies as you have listed in your last couple of lines of comment.
MJP!!! I don’t know if I’m hallucinating or something. One of the attendants here looks like Lee Min Ho. And then there’s another who looks like Eric Mun. Are they assigned by the docs to make me stay, or are they disguising as rehab attendants, on a plan to sneak me out of here? I dunno! I’m confused!
Izzie! <3 How are you?
I’m good, laya!
ikaw, kumusta na?
my apologies coz I wasn’t able to update you with the dvd thing. ganito na lang… every now & then the corp. comm. dept. puts dvds and cds on sale for employees. when they announce one, I’ll give u the list of the items. I’ll just leave it in the comments section of your blog.
Really? Yay! Thanks so much! [Also, if that happens I can recap them, I'm such a sucker for punishment that way.] ^_^
Doing all right even with the floods?
can’t wait for tomorrow’s SOW
Happy Friday/Saturday Everyone!
Been out of town this week with a very poor connection and severely withdrawn from all dramas!!!!!!! My ramen hair has been writhingly like snakes in a bucket! I now have much empathy for those of you who talk about the bad computer connections and the struggle just to get online. We will be driving home late afternoon, so I will be able to read all the comments on Saturday!

Spy Myung Wol
Oh me, oh my, Kang-Woo found out about Myung-Wol!!!!! So, Jomo and some others brought up a very interesting point that Ryu would be better for Myung-Wol. So, tell me who are you shipping?
Answer A:
Kang-Woo and Myung-Wol
Answer B:
Ryu and Myung-Wol
Or Answer C:
Write it in!
+++++++++
I’m up to the very nervous stage with Zenkai Girl (Jdrama). If anyone is watching it, how about you? I don’t have time to look up the names so, the female lead has told the male lead that she wants to date Mr. Rich second lead lawyer because the male lead single father working in seedy little dive restaurant doesn’t have the personal drive she likes in a man. She told him to stop pursuing her so her new man doesn’t mistake their relationship. And, she did it cruelly, right in front of the new boyfriend.
++++++++++
Also got about 20 minutes into Heartstrings! I got up to the part where Kyu-Won and Shin were playing music together in the park. I was having fun watching, but the connection isn’t good.
Happy Weekend too, MJP! Have a safe trip!
Thanks! ♥ iZzie ♥!!!!!
I’m still alive after three days of drama withdrawal!!!!!
I didn’t know if I would make it or not!
Whew!!! *Wipes forehead*
Ryu + Kang-woo isn’t very promising, is it…
Well, I’m Team KW on this one (I usually support the lead)
I think her S and his M fit together just right.
Cabbage!
LOL!!!!!!!
I sure hope you meant that as a joke!!!!!
I haven’t been off the grid for more than 24 hours in a long long time. It must be painful!
B:
I am guessing that KW will go off into the Never Never land of Hallyu while Ryu and MW remain together. I am not sure if they will defect since they haven’t shown any regrets so far in their career choice.
But I always think the second lead will get the girl at this point in the story arc. Because the second lead boy is ALWAYS the best match for the lead girl. The writers are just effing with me, I guess.
Jomo,
I think I am fainting from lack of dramas….
Oh, well maybe not… But I am pretending to faint! Does that count?
Actually I am doing a Kdrama marathon right now and catching up on my Asian Entertainment news and the OT. Ambitious? Yes! But I can DO IT!!!!
So Far I have caught up with Heartstrings/YFFM.
I am watching Protect the Boss now.
I started at 12:30 a.m. and It’s 4:42 a.m. Lots of reading in between the episodes.
Oh! I am watching ZG and I am absolutely loving it. Not up to that part yet, but I am really curious. Wakaba (female lead) has already been pretty cruel to Sota for the past episodes so I don’t know how much more brutal she can be. Though, I am sure she feels bad about it, or will eventually. The girl is way too pragmatic and always had trouble expressing her genuine feelings (unless they were written in the law books of cos) which often leads to her verbally and physically abusing Sota, but we all know she doesn’t hate him as much as much as she wants to. I hope we get to see her do the chasing in the later episodes.
Autumn,
I sorta hate to say this, but I have some of her character traits… It’s scary! I need a hug! I’m very afraid!!!
(Just kidding!)
@MJP,i feel your pain,my too internet connection is terrible so i havent been able to watch dramas for the past few days.needless to say-Its.Killing.Me.:(
oh,and im totally shipping our lead-Kang-Woo and Myung-Wol.hence,my answer is A.
have a safe trip and happy weekend
joybells,
Ugh! It was such a trial, the lack of drama access. But on the other hand it was a nice vacation.
B is my answer but I foresee pain on my part when we get to the end. Logic tells me to go for A but my heart wants it to be B…. Safe trip, MJP.
Thanks for the input and for the kind words!
Definitely shipping Ryu and Myung Wol…I usually avoid second lead syndrome like the plague but I couldn’t help it this time (he’s so cute and stiff/proper)!
Sadly she will probably end up with Kang Woo
Tash!
They are so cute together, it’s cute to see them melting with each other. But yes, sadly she and KW will end up together. This isn’t Queen of Reversals after all.
But why do they put such splended second male leads in these roles? It’s driving me crazy having to choose one over the other.
B! Ryu and Myung Wol! But really, I would basically pick anything that guarantees more Ryu screen time. He’s just so pretty to look at, but more than the pretty, there’s an energy to him that just doesn’t let me take my eyes off him when he’s on screen. I don’t know, maybe it’s that “star quality” people talk about, I just know that for one thing, I want him to have more screen time and for another, I want to know more about his character’s history.
As for my choice, I pick him not because I dislike Kang Woo, because I don’t, it’s just that I get more of an OTP vibe from Ryu than from Kang Woo at this point.
I haven’t seen Lee Jin Wook in anything before and from what I can gather, he’s more famous for his past relationship with Choi Ji Woo than any of his projects (though his recent army service might explain that), but I want to track down some of his past projects and see if it’s a one time thing, a post-army thing or if he’s another Yoon Kye Sang (read: underrated awesomeness).
B.. Ryu and Myung Wol
Im looking forward for more interaction.
Ryu’s push up scene while Myung Wol was on Operation Great Wall of China was hot. Just imagine what was on his mind at that time.
I’m also curious about Lee Jin-wook. Has he just not been on my radar because of his recent army service? He caught my attention from his first appearance in this drama (I LOVE the intensity of his eyes…), and made me want to know more both about the Ryu character and the actor himself.
I tracked down and watched his earlier drama Powerful Opponents (in which I really liked him), but he’s taking it to a whole new level here. Maybe it is a post-army duty thing?
I’ve actually been meaning to check out Powerful Opponents too. It sounds really good. I like Chae Rim as well, so it should be interesting, right? I was planning to wait and marathon it when I get some time off work (yay vacation soon!) because right now I can barely keep up with two episodes a week, but if you say it’s worth it, I might risk losing some of my functionality and sacrificing an hour or two of sleep/night to watch it as I go. What say you?
Ah, what dramas to prioritize is always such a difficult decision, isn’t it? (For me, sleep is always the most expendable out of all the things I need to do.)
If you want to see Lee Jin-wook looking hot and playing a fascinating character, then watching Powerful Opponents is certainly a good use of your time. Chae Rim is also great (and I love that her character is a strong, tough woman, rather than one of these calculatedly naive/helpless little princesses we so often see). The ending was a little f*ed up, I thought, and I couldn’t feel any physical attraction for the other male lead, but other than that, I loved the drama, and it certainly drew me in and kept my attention.
So, is it worth a sleepless night or two? I’d say yes, absolutely.
There does seem to be something different about Lee Jin-wook now, though. He had intensity and presence in Powerful Opponents, but it’s much more intensified now. Whatever the reason, I love it!
Somehow the fact that it’s about bodyguards guarding the president’s son makes me think of City Hunter and Kim Nana
Haha, this character is what YS would have been if he had grown up with his biological father.
SO glad the heroine is strong and not the type to take abuse and call it dedication.
Squee! Now I’m all excited for a drama-full of Ryu goodness
Thank you for sharing your opinion.
I’m going to start watching it at the end of next week because I’m on call in the first part so sleeplessness of another kind is guaranteed.
I liked him best in Someday, his cable drama with Bae Doona.
He also had a small (but cute) supporting role in Alone in Love.
Not a fan of Powerful Opponents/Glass Castle/Air City.
Wow, Someday sounds really good. Lee Jin Wook and Kim Min Joon? Wow square
That’s a whole lotta manly
Silver,
I so agree about that OTP vibe between Ryu and Myung-wol.
Hi, MJP! Glad you’ve survived what sounds like a nightmare of a week without internet!
I personally prefer Ryu (so smoldering and intense), but I think he and Myung-wol are too similar. They’re both so militaristic and emotionally repressed/limited… I guess I can envision that Ryu has a LOT of passion underneath that controlled exterior (whoa, some hot imaginings here!), but it doesn’t seem like he would find it proper to treat Myung-wol with any kind of passion (more just respectful caring for/taking care of her). So, I don’t think they’d expand each other’s horizons at all.
It also doesn’t seem that Myung-wol could actually fall in love (as in, have her eyes opened to love and passion and all that) with Ryu… again, they’re too similar for that, I think. Kang-woo and Myung-wol are the two who can really shake each other’s worlds, so for that, I guess I like them together.
(In real life, Ryu and Myung-wol might be a better pairing, for exactly the reasons I’ve given, but in a drama, I certainly prefer the two who are different and challenge each other.)
I’m shipping (B) Choi Ryu and Myung-Wol! I think it’s probably the first time I have even a slight case of SLS (sorry but I was never on Team Pil-joo even if he was pretty awesome). I just can’t help it this time. I really enjoy Lee Jin Wook’s portrayal of the badass, stiff, emotionally-represed spy, lol. I know it’s REALLY unlikely that they would end up together but one can only hope.
As for Zenkai Girl, I kindly suggest you watch the next episode. Honestly, I have a love-hate relationship with the Ayukawa Wakaba (Aragaki Yui) character. I understand her motivation to succeed (I mean, she had it pretty bad with her dad). But, she seems verbalize her thoughts in an extremely cruel manner and Yamada Sota (Nishikido Ryo) bears the brunt. Ugh, I really want to yank her hair sometimes, lol. I don’t think she intends to hurt people’s feelings or that her pragmatic ways (which can liken her to a robot) are a bad, bad thing. She just needs to learn a little something known as tact.
Perhaps my issue is with the show as opposed to the character. I get why she wants to be a successful lawyer that lives in luxury and I think she has a legitimate reason for striving for the very top after overcoming her life at the very bottom of the social barrel. The show, however, can really make her seem like a gold-digging social-climber though. That’s my impression anyways. Ok, I think that was enough of my ‘two cents’. Happy weekend!!!
Still shippin’ A. Can’t get enough of KW and MW. Loved how much KW struggled what to say to MW in the end of ep 8. Although Ryu is cute, I find KW and MW a better match. It was MW that managed to thaw KW’s icy heart after all and made him appreciate her beauty (and wierdness) <3
Hugssssss MJP!
Answer C – Ryu & me! LOL
The only reason I catch SPY is because of Ryu! He is yummier to me than Eric
))))))))))MJP(((((((((((, you cannot have bad internet connection! CANNOT!!! MUST NOT! There is this connection we have especially on fridays! I would miss you too much if I didnt see you here ! So hope to see you on saturday and I also hope you have a good trip!
Also I have a confession to make. You told me that there WILL be other men and I must admit finally and rather reluctantly that you are RIGHT! LMAO! Although I am forever dokkofied and CSW will always be my one and only love that has brought me so much happiness and friends sadly I have been fantasizing about another and his name is Yutaka Takenouchi! After watching Nagareboshi and then swiftly continued by With Love, I confess he occupies my waking existence these past week !!! LOL
I am so happy that you watch Jdramas too ! Have you watched Nagareboshi? Have you watched Yutaka-san’s dramas/movies? I am only now catching up with his 15 years career, so I have alot of catching up to do
This is the MV that got me interested to watch Nagareboshi http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoRS3lZNbVg&list=FLFfPRQ1Mot50&index=12 and this one sealed my heart WITH LOVE for Yutaka! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEq-_72q76M&list=FLFfPRQ1Mot50&index=8
))))))Samgetang(((((((( I hope you are doing well!!! You ask me last friday why I want to be a jellyfish, well it came from nagareboshi. Dont know particularly why but been worrying about you. Is everything ok? You seem quiet of late.
Best Love to you~~~~ my dearest MJP & Samgetang!
wahahaha
Qd, welcome to the dorama-land!! And what a good pick! Yutaka is just so damn gorgeous at his age (similar to CSW I believe). Full of charm really, right?
I would recommend a classic dorama for you – Long Vacation, in which Yukata is the second male lead but man this dorama is just daebak!! A well-made drama during the golden era of Japanese dorama. I absolutely love this dorama to pieces. All the actors, OST, basically everything!! Squee!!
So3! Yutaka most definitely has charm!! He is beyond gorgeous! *blush* Coming from you it really means ALOT! Arigato!
I have heard of Long vacation! My japanese friend also recommended I watch it! Probably do so this weekend since I have just finished Beach Boys and epi 5 SOW! lol
Speak to you soon SOW!!!! Hope you have a BEAUTIFUL Weekend!
Most definately B! Ryu is such a gentlemen. When Kang Woo isn’t slapping or shoving women around, he’s sulking, yelling and being childish in general.Plus Ryu is super hot. Hope he does more frustated push ups in future episods but this time bare chested …drool…
I’m a KW-MW shipper. But I fear they cannot be together in the end. She’ll go home to North Korea with Ryu while KW stays on as Hallyu Star. Sad…..
YY,
I know it’s so sad.
MJP, I’m in the minority, but I feel Myung Wol and KW have so much chemistry together….ok, Ryu and Myung Wol have tons of chemistry as well, but I’m just rooting for KW cos of his eyes…..he’s got such expressive eyes like Kang-ah, when he’s hurting, you can see the pain in those eyes, like Kang-ah. I really think they’ll part in the end, and she’ll only have her memories left when she sees him perform on TV…. do they watch TV in North Korea? As for him, he’ll continue to perform and work hard to fill the emptiness inside him. Ryu will be by Myung Wol’s side to help her and protect her; I think he’ll never say outright that he loves her, but she’ll know. I doubt she’ll accept him though. So ih the end all three would have changed and become more human and much nicer people than they were when they first started. All because each has been touched by the power of love.
/waves at MJP and her ramen hair.
Ryu and Myung-wol!!! They’re both so cute and awkward! And I would love to see a story abt two people who don’t know anything abt love and romance fall in love. I wish LJW and HYS will get to act in another drama together as a couple — maybe in a drama abt arranged marriages so we can see their characters be awkward with the lovey-dovey stuff.
I just can’t see MW and KW making it work in the long run, especially when KW doesn’t have many redeeming features.
I still love Zenkai Girl and am not too nervous abt the show since this is a jdrama and I know Wakaba will learn her lesson by the end — but not so well that she would be unrecognizable (which I always hate in fiction, where the characters turn a complete 180).
But yeah…Wakaba still irks me at this point. I know she has her own way of living and her own philosophy and has as much tact as a sledgehammer, but there is no need to be so cruel to Sota at this stage when he has been so nice.
Hello and a very BIG THANK YOU to all my lovely/handsome fellow co-commentors. I have read your words, but due to the insane night of travelling and then pulling an all nighter Kdrama binge, I am too tired to think, but am reading your comments.
I think I’m going to take a bit of a nap because I am falling asleep here!
It may take me all week to read all the comments. It’s definitely easier to read them as they are being written!
So thanks again for your patience with me and my sleep deprivation + drama deprivation/binge. I do care about what each person has to say.
Happy Friday fellow k-drama-land-addicts!
So did anyone see episode 11 of You’ve Fallen For Me? I saw the raw preview and I’m panicking. Like seriously I wish I korean and not english at this point since english is no use to me write now!lol:) Please a recap! I BEG!!!lol
Also I am loving Scent of a Woman. It has a nice new feel. So again I reach the point of: I WISH I KNEW KOREAN!!!!!!!!!!WHO’S WITH ME?!:)lol*sighs and hangs head*
It’s so bad that i bought an app for my ipad 2 to teach myself korean. I am working on the letters now, lol.
What I do in these cases it watch it raw, I understand some, go to revel souls, she does recaps live. Finally wait for the subs and see the dramabeans recaps for some laughs.
Ah, I hope JB or GF recaps Protect the Boss.
I can do without subs, really. But there are so much inside jokes and double meanings shown in Kdramas that I can not understand, which is why I need Dramabeans as a reinforcement.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE RECAP IT. PWEETY PWEASEEEE? :”3
I vote for that too.
Please girls, we need you for a more complete understanding of the episodes.
(did I sound too desperate?…Should I sound desperate?…Hell yes!)
Happy Friday, everyone!
I don’t know why exactly, but I am giddy, I tell you, giddy! with this week’s shows.
YFFM, finally we have some cuuuuuuuute stuff with the leads.
SMW, oooooooh!
Very worried about KW’s feelings now – don’t want him to get hurt.
Very very worried about his wardrobe being sold off his body for housewares.
I am not worried about his body being bared, though.
In fact, I think about his body bare as often as I can.
I am thinking about it right now, iroke:
Whatever anyone says about Eric, he knows how to look sexy in a ripped white sweater on the beach while peering jealously at a NK spy.
PS: I counted about 7 different sweaters this week with various pre planned holes on Kdramas.
SOAW – Hoooo boy! LDW and KSW are going to have a kiss that is off the charts hot, and I can’t wait!
PTB – Fell in love in the elevator with them all.
INR – Problem is it’s over and we are back to square one. Why, Show, why?
Teaching my 16 year old daughter to drive.
She swears the telephone pole at the end of our circle wasn’t there when she first looked to turn right!
Happy Friday too, Jomo! *HUGS*
LOL@your driving lesson story. But your daughter’s alright, right? (I hope she is.)
Omigosh. I have a lot of kdrama catching up to do. I’ve stopped since the last ep of City Hunter. This addict will relapse very soon, though.
It wasn’t! Those things move on me all the time.
LOL!
Hello….
I so understand what your daughter means, the curb kept moving and I would find myself somehow on top of it.
Happy Friday to you too Jomo!!!!
You got it bad for SMW! You can have Eric though! lol I watch SMW for Ryu! I know I weird that way. hehe
SMW is really getting interesting… the twist absolutely unexpected and sooo good! Hope all your hopes come true for Eric!!!
Loving SOW and enjoying her transformation… of course hot kisses doesnt hurt! Love KSA so much and I think LDW and KSA have good chemistry! More LDW show fanservice wouldnt hurt either! lol
I havent watched any other too busy with Jdramas of late because of a certain someone
Eric walks pensively on an empty beach in shades and a ripped white sweater.
Close-up on Eric’s face.
Eric takes off shades.
He looks at us, says: The next time you want to throw away that old rug, think again. Why not wear it instead?
Eric puts his shades back on, walks away from us with these words flashing across the screen:
Recycle. Start wearing your floor rugs NOW.
LOLOLOLOLOL!
While I had to pause and picture the beauty that is Eric’s face in the close up, I did want to run to my bathroom and send him off my tattered 2X3.
He would look prolly even look nice in chenille…
YY – Thanks for writing the funniest thing I could NEVER think of! Hope whatever is left of your weekend is going well.
I decided to start watching sungkyunkwan scandal, and it’s my first nonmodern korean drama:) nonmodern, as in, the setting is during the Joseon era and all the past rules and laws that pretty much are void now…and just saying, ohmygoodnessgracious I love it!!!!! Micky yoochun’s character is adorably vivacious, park min young pulls off the guy part good enough, and younha and jaeshin are just freaking adorable. YEP:)
SungKyunkwan Scandal is very addictive.. I marathoned it in 2 days… love Younha and jaeshin.. they are my favorite!
I showed Sungkyunkwan to my mom and she loved it! She’s a sageuk fan while I’m more of a modern setting kind of gal (though I don’t mind a sageuk once in a while either). It was hilarious how mom was totally team Moon Jae Shin and I was trying to convince her that Yoochun’s character had some merit too
I spurted my new love for SKKS last week, and I did the only thing I could do to get rid of my new crush. I made another vid…(much better than Spoon, I promise.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyyRx0M4AJQ
Great scene selection for the video
And also liking the song
Lee Sun Joon
Owns me HEARTMINDANDSOUL
Nerdy Sensible Heroes FTW
My fave scenes

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsjzXFql4kc
Hahaha! The study attempts
Awh, I’m getting SKK nostalgia
Anyone watching The Princess’ Man?
Happy Friday!
Drama-watching status:
Dropped YFFM after 2 episodes. I can’t seem to find the motivation to watch it even though I love the music component and Park Shin Hye is so pretty.
Planning to watch Warrior BDS. I wasn’t interested until I saw screencaps of Episode 5, when the kids grew up.
Caught up to ep 5 of The Princess’ Man. The show is quite likable, actually.
1 Night 2 Days: Not a drama, but last week’s episode was so fun. Not as dramatic as previous individual races though.
will you guys be recapping protect the boss?
happy friday! (: hmm kinda new here. anyone here lives in australia?
One thread shy of the big Two-Hundy!
wishing a happy Friday to all! *cue Rebecca Blacks – Friday?* nooooooo? Okay! TGIF and btw since when has August crept up on us? Time flies amazingly fast
aw, we should have a party next week!
Agreed! We can bring back the virtual pojangmacha!
I feel like it was May 2 seconds ago and everyone was just going crazy over all the new crack dramas premiering…OMG that was 3 months ago. :/
happy OT everyone….loving heartsrings so much.it such a sweet and tender romance that is a joy to watch as it buds. I really dislike Hee joo’s mom, i mean setting someone up like that is just a low blow. protect the boss sounds good as well. following the recaps at koala’s playground and have enjoyed it so far. as or spy myung wol i am so shipping myung wol with choi ryu..
I’m in the same boat as you are
I never had second lead syndrome so bad before. I mean sure, there’s been Moon Jae Shin in Sungkyunkwan and Pil Joo in BL, but I never wanted the female character to be with the second lead more than I liked her with the main lead, there was just some momentary wavering going on. But with Myung Wol and Ryu, I am actually rooting for an OTP change. I want her to end up with Ryu and have Kang Woo ride off into the sunset with his mirror
lol! Kang woo and his mirror. now that would be an awesome ending….lets not forget cute North Korean spy babies that MY and CR should have
Haha, yes
And the wedding! Have the wedding be on board a high tech zeppelin-type thing before going on some super spy mission. (why am i talking about high tech zeppelins and instead imagining something out of Dastardly and Muttley, the old cartoon?) Of course, something would go terribly wrong, causing them to have to resort to some insane scenario to explain themselves and the whole madness would begin again
…which would lead to season 2, and more Myung-wol and Ryu! I absolutely love Eric as Kang-woo, but can’t help rooting for Ryu as well.
Loving heartstrings too! And I too dislike Hee joo’s mum with a passion and feel sorry for hee joo (who I actually like) for being pressured into that kind of situation.
I might be in the minority here but I still want something to happen between the director/Kyu Won – brush of the arm, a hug – anything, but hope is fading fast as we’re near the finish line. This is one of the few rare kdramas where I support the second lead more than the first
Man, haven’t been in one of these for a while. There was vacation and now classes so I’ve cut down my Kdrama consumption to recaps and the occasional episode of City Hunter and rewatching Coffee Prince (for my undergrad thesis). I can’t wait till the LSATs are over then I can resume my kdrama craziness to the full extent!
Happy Friday all!!!
That’s a good excuse to see dramas…too bad I couldn’t use it in my field… or can I?
I’ll think about it when I’m taking care of my masters
Now THAT’S at thesis I would like to read!!
Me too!!! Why didnt I ever go to such a school??? lol All the Best!
Your undergrad thesis is Coffee Prince? Man i’d love to go to your school! But yep, i feel your pain…I had to stop watching Kdramas this year, cuz i’m in my final year now. It’s about time i gave my studies first priority! Recaps don’t really fill that void, but when its written as well as they are here on DB, its a great bandaid.
Was just making a plan of my drama watching and realized it may be a bit optimistic… But it got me thinking how many dramas a week do most people here watch?
Here’s my plan…
Mon&Tues
Protect the Boss (Trailer looked awesome!! And I loved Jaejoong in the Hard to say I love you)
Warrior Baek Dong-soo (Only watched one episode so not sure whether I should continue… what does everyone else think?)
Miss Ripley
Coffee Prince (Am I the only one who can’t see what all the fuss is about?)
Sungkyunkwan Scandal
Weds&Tues
My Name is Kim Samsoon
Myung-wol the spy
Return of Iljimae
Heartstrings/You’ve fallen for me
Weekend
Scent of Woman
But I still have to fit in as well:
Material Queen (LOVE IT)
Drunken to love you
1N2D
Ouran High School Host Club
Is this a lot? lol…
That depends. Are you a robot? Do you sleep?
Lol… I just have no life really (well… that’s not quite true…)
I would go with
protect the boss+Sungkyunkwan scandal+CP
only go with ripley if you like dark dramas
MNIKSS+Return of Iljamae
Scent of a woman+material queen+Myungwol on weekends
but that is a LOT you’re trying to watch
wow that is a lot of drama… I don’t understand korean so have to wait for sub..
the current drama that I am watching:
I Need Romance.. just finished the finale.. very nice
Warrier BDS… i like it because there’s a lot of action.. and beautifully film..
Myung-wol the spy.. although i am losing interest..
Heartstrings.. loving it
Material queen.. it’s probably not for everyone but it’s very enjoyable…
Drunken to love you… so far so good.. it’s almost till the end..
Sign – I am watching it just because it’s always been on my list and I never get around to it… i am about half way through.. it’s ok..
scent of woman, protecting the boss and princess man are on my list.. but I think I am gonna wait till the half way point before starting…
Waiting for subs of a show you love is SO annoying even if you completely understand that it does take time…
But by now (having watched K dramas since early 2009) I have become pretty good at locating subs quickly
Oh my god! I don’t know whether to be in awe of your drama-devouring abilities or to be terrified of your supernatural endurance
If it were me, I’d let Baek Dong Soo end before jumping in. Again, this is a personal preference but I think sageuks are best served cold, i.e. after they’ve finished airing. If you’re on vacation and you have the time, go for a sageuk marathon, back to back series. I tried it once and it was borderline surreal, after I finished the marathon, it almost felt weird that people were wearing modern clothes everywhere
As for your question of number of dramas/week, I am watching Heartstrings and Myung Wol right now and it’s all I can handle, but I am crazy busy at work these days so that’s why. A while back, when I was on sick leave from work and was stuck in the house all the time, what you just described would have been seen as appetizer, but back then I wasn’t watching currently airing dramas so yeah
I agree about waiting for the sagueks, partly because subbing them takes more time, bad subbing can ruin a show.
I don’t know which one I was watching, but the subs were so bad, I read them outloud for a laugh, until I started crying with frustration.
“What are you saying to him?”
It was like someone got a hold of Chaucer-only Thesaurus, and used ancient vocab from there.
Be both in awe and afraid
But as I said… this is a plan NOT (yet) reality…
Although I have been watching a LOT of dramas…
But what happens if there isn’t good quality subbing for the saguek you are watching (I don’t think there is for Warrior Baek Dong-soo…)
Do what I do, learn Korean!
The first time I watched a drama episode and realized I understood everything that was going on (not every bit of dialogue, but enough to make sense of things) was one of the giddiest moments ever for me
Or, you know, wait it out, eventually good subs will surface.
Jomo, LOL @ Chaucer
Poor guy, I still remember how much I cursed him in 9th grade when we were studying him in English class.
It reminds me of me during the may madness. Right now I’m just trying to get back on the drama train and mainly watching SMW, YFFM, SOW, and finished INR
Planning on watching Protect the Boss y Hooray for Love, nobody is talking about it but I watch the first 2 raw and looked good.
Sounds like a treat. Would love to watch that many but all I can manage at the moment are:
-Myung Wol
-Heartstrings
-Sparkling (taking my sweet time here)
-Scent of a Woman
-Protect the Boss
-City Hunter
and the odd episode of
-You’re Beautiful and
-Secret Garden
Too many kdramas at once and I can’t keep the characters or the storylines straight. I start to have dreams where the plots mix up…these dreams are sometimes unsettling because they are so bizarre.
I keep a list of dramas I want to watch kinda like saving for a rainy day. They list keeps growing though and I rarely check anything off of it. Good luck with your drama watching!
No, you can do it. Yes, I am serious. Yes, I am an addict. Yes, I skip sleep to watch dramas. You can do it!!!!
*Ramen haired woman with crazy eyes waves her hands and her ramen hair waves along*
Don’t give up! We are your support network and don’t let anyone here tell you that they haven’t done the exact same thing at one point or another.
Ba Ha Ha Haaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*Ramen hair waves as if in hurricane winds and maniacal woman mutters four different languages all together making absolutely no sense.*
Hahahaha. ROFLMAO!…. I can relate. My sister has woken up in the middle of the night to find me watching a kdrama at 4am. The next day I can’t even pretend so I just hang my head or gloat about knowing what happens in the next episode!
My list:
1.) I Need Romance – darn spoilers hahaha! i want SH & IY!
2.) Spy Myung Wol – gahh… so loving yeseul unni here.
3.) Heartstrings – will start soon…
4.) Protect the Boss
5.) Scent of a Woman
my abandoned dramas (but will continue):
6.) You are my Destiny
7.) Romance Town
8.) Baby Faced Beauty
9.) Sign
10.) I Am Legend (I think im really dropping this drama hahaha!)
JB and GF, you guys should do a weekly critique post on how you view “You’ve Fallen for Me”.
I fell for it mainly cos all of a sudden, Yonghwa can act! and act so well!
give us your thoughts on it ladies!
So I’m loving the classic recaps. MNIKSS here, and Star Candy/Biscuit Teacher over at Thundie’s Prattle. I’m hoping for My Girl, Delightful Girl Choon Hyang or Goong recaps next. What classic drama would you like to relive?
@ Georgia,i think javabeans/girlfriday have done the recap of the first episode of Delightful Girl Choon Hyang. You can check it out.
As for DGCh,its my favourite hong sister drama,n the OTP is simply the best
I agree, among Hong sister drama, OTP of DGCH is the best!
I just marathon through Biscuit Teacher, Star Candy this week thanks to thundie’s recap
Ooh, glad you’re enjoying the Biscuit Teacher and Star Candy recaps! Episode 2 is up.
OMG! Biscuit Teacher recaps? Hooray! Man, i loved that show.
Your Biscuit Teacher star candy recap is too good to be true, thundie. I though you just would recap the first episode, But will you recap it till the end instead? How awsome if it’s true…
<3
My Girl, Full House, Goong and DGCH recaps please.
And I want them all done by tonight.
Thanks.
I’m only kidding. Next week is fine too.
hahaha!
I just watched Chuno this past week — what a fantastic drama! I really don’t know why I avoided it before. It was a little disappointing when the weather got colder and Jang Hyuk and Oh Ji-ho started wearing shirts (I had hopes in the beginning that they’d spend the entire drama topless), but other than that, it was pretty amazing.
I’m also really liking Myung-wol the Spy. So wacky and so adorable! I see where people are coming from with the comparisons to Best Love and Dokko Jin (I can’t help comparing/contrasting the agent and manager), but I think the similarity is only noticeable because this drama comes so soon after Best Love, and also features an arrogant “top star” and his retinue. (I mean, look at how many dramas feature similar cold, arrogant chaebol types and their evil mothers, right?)
I absolutely LOVE Ryu. Why did I never discover this actor before? He’s almost making me transfer my allegiance from Cha Seung-won, and that’s something I never thought I’d say! (I guess it’s nice to feel that there are other fish in the sea, though.
)
It was a little disappointing when the weather got colder and Jang Hyuk and Oh Ji-ho started wearing shirts
You know I dropped this drama for some reason. Never made the connection to the skin to clothing ratio!
You may not believe me, sethe, but Eric is squeezing out CSW for me in my fantasies. It happened after watching Que Sera Sera…I know, I know. I’m fickle!
LOL. Yeah, I will admit that all of the beautiful, muscled chests and arms were perhaps what kept me watching Chuno in the beginning, but then I did get into the story and the characters. (Other dramas might learn a lesson from this — just have the male leads be topless for the first few episodes! One might think, well, it doesn’t make sense for a rich CEO to go to work shirtless, but I think viewers could get past that, right?)
I tried to watch Que Sera Sera before, but I couldn’t get into it (and kept falling asleep). Maybe I’ll try it again, now that I’ve seen the appeal of Eric. I can’t quite say yet that I think Eric is an acceptable substitute for CSW, Jomo, but I’m both happy and sad that I’m beginning to move on (from my imaginary relationship with CSW) and to see that there are other actors out there that I can love (okay, be fanatically obsessed with
).
it doesn’t make sense for a rich CEO to go to work shirtless
THAT, my friend, is what Kdrama showers were invented for.
Have you watched LDW in SOAW? Holy sh%t!
http://soulsrebel.files.wordpress.com/2011/07/ldw3.jpg
(There are some good shots from this site, but my work n/w blocked it.)
Yes, kdrama showers are nice and all, but they’re really too short. How can these men get fully clean if they’re only in the shower for 30 seconds or so?
If I thought about it, I might have the mildly disconcerting feeling that my pleasure in looking at hot shirtless men comes uncomfortably close to the genres of voyeurism/porn… but hey, I watch kdramas for the stories, right?
That picture of LDW is pretty hot… I hadn’t been planning to check out SOAW, but now I think I might. I’m realizing more and more that my kdrama horizons (meaning the actors I’ve paid attention to) have really been pretty limited, and I’m going to take immediate action to remedy that.
Oh my god.
That’s exactly the motivation I need to get back to watching this drama train. I was finding it too slow for some reason… Thank you for this!
I love that this conversation is happening… The first drama that finds a way to get a chaebol to work shirtless everyday is Boss.
Hands down winner.
Sethe:
Porn for women can be just shirtless men, a man NOT running like hell after you throw up on him, a man who follows you around town as you go about your business hoping you will forgive him, a man putting a window in your dark apartment, a man handing you ointment, or putting a cool compress on your forehead when you have a cold…
In other words, K-dramas and porn share the fact they are fantasies and not about day to day reality. HA! As long as everyone agrees real life is OK, too.
(This is how I justify my habit, you see…and the fact that I have a gorgeous picture of Eric on my laptop wallpaper that makes me weep when I gaze at it.)
Sethe!!! I am like you!!! I didnt like Que Sera Sera. It was ok, only average for me.. but when there was a particular scene I got right put off!!! I havent watch Chuno though, adding this to my ultra long list of dramas to watch!
I like SPY and me too! I love RYU! I call him ‘woof’ because I spelled his name wrongly while chatting to my friend and he is now the main reason I watch SPY! hehe
Oh Sethe! I felt guilty liking Yutaka Takenouchi over CSW too ! I guess I have moved on but I will continue to support CSW and swoon over him all the same because he is just too special a man! He is just not any actor, he also brought me so many friends all over the world, including YOU!!!
I can totally understand when you say you are happy and sad at the same time…I feel exactly the same but I cant help myself fantasizing more about Yutaka. How can you tell your heart not to do feel drawn to someone else ? I know I am a goner! lol ! So much so Ive been busy trying to catch up 15 years of career which I have missed! May god help me! lol
Thanks for making me less guily and less alone!!! Hope you have a great Weekend!
Hi Qd! Thank you back for making me feel less guilty and less alone about moving on (more or less) from CSW. I agree completely with what you said — he’ll always have a special place in my heart, first of all because he is just one amazingly hot, sexy, magnetic, charismatic man, but also because of all the fun we had and the connections we all made watching BL and swooning over him.
But yes, life goes on, and I am a living woman with a heart, eyes, and hormones, so I guess it’s only natural that I’ll find other actors to love, right?
But yes, life goes on, and I am a living woman with a heart, eyes, and hormones, so I guess it’s only natural that I’ll find other actors to love, right?
TOTALLY AGREE!!! lol !!! I am so glad weekend is here so I can continuing dreaming of Yutaka-san! *^-^*
Best Love to you~~~
I am in love with Shin’s shoes from Heartstrings and I really like the grandfather, he’s hilarious and reminds me of people in my own life who are like that and yes, I had to listen to them in politeness…Back to the shoes – Did anyone else notice that the shoes are the same colours as his clothes?
I happened to watch an episode of the part historic drama – Warrior Baek Dong-Soo and noticed the boots are boots from the present day…dont think they had boots with waffle soles in the 16th century.
This I have an obsession with shoes.
I second you on the obsession with shoes; it’s usually the first thing I look at on a guy!
Maybe that explains why I’m half in love with Shin and by extension Jung Yong Hwa
LOL@by extension Jung Yong Hwa…I admit, hes cute(in that small kid, little puppy/kitten kind of way) but hes just too young for my liking. I do think hes more of a singer than an actor. He will really have to hone on his skill wrt to his expressions. But hes young, theres time. He will need life experiences to draw from to develop acting as a skill.
I have to say, that a very interesting handle. A fellow Indian shoe lover says hello, although i don’t think my love quite reaches your levels!
Hello to you too Indian shoe lover. Thank you…Nomad at heart and then being Indian. I dont love Shoes(apart from the fact that I love comfortable shoes). Its just that in this drama I seem to notice the shoes, specifically Shin’s shoes…so I shifted to another drama, a saguek at that, and realized the obsession still carried, I noticed the shoes there too.
HEllo, everyone,so howz your weekend goin? Mine is terrible, bad internet connection spells no dramas and heaven is pouring buckets.
So a random question-If you could land smack in the middle of one of your favourite kdrama and take our heroine’ place.which drama would it be? and what would you do differently(then the above said heroine)?
Cool question!!! Can I pick two?
1.Goong-The little girl in me picks Chae Kyung from Goong. The idea of being a real-life princess is my catnip. What I’d do differently is stay far away from Yool, get mother-in-law to make Hyo Rin disappear sooner (WAY SOONER), and lets just say Shin and Chae kyung would have been “married” in every sense of the word during the beach trip.
2. Damo-I wanted Chae Ohk and Naeuri to have a happy-ending so so so much. Even more than Goong I pick Chae Ohk. I’d never have gone to the mountain camp and I would have openly confessed to Naeuri, the bravest, most upright, compassionate, loyal, and truest friend ever. We would have left the police station, gotten married, and have 5 kids. Aghhh, my heart still bleeds for them.
You can pick as many as you like..
Ah! goong..LOved that drama…And i would love to be in that drama just for that one scene-”the wedding scene”.its like a ultimate dream wedding.Wearing gorgeous Hangboks, ridding in carriages, and those beautiful traditional jewellries.aah!
Yeah, I was so mesmerized by all the royal traditions, finery, and pomp. Even having to deal with Shin’s middle-school jerk ways would be worth it.
I agree with both your choices! If any outcome of any drama could be changed, I’d save Naeuri. I am still scarred from when I watched Damo my first and only time. It’s one of my favorite dramas to date and one I would recommend to anyone, but whenever I get the urge to rewatch it, I remember the heartbreak of the last two episodes and I just can’t bring myself to *wipes solitary tear from eye*
Goong too, double agree with what you said.
Since I don’t want to be a copycat, I’ll go with Queen Seondeok. I don’t remember most of what happened because I watched the last half for one reason only, that being Kim Nam Gil’s Bidam. So I’d make it so he didin’t have to die. Instead, I’d keep him by my side forever and issue a royal order that he would always have to wear that hwarang uniform that made him look so damn swoon-worthy
I knew that Damo was supposed to a life-scarring experience before watching it, but afterwards DANG did it hurt!
And I have got to watch QSD. Kim Nam Gil is mighty fine! Plus, there are QSD references in other kdramas. I wanna be in the know.
Haha, you should! Kim Nam Gil makes it worth it, as do the references it spawned.
To think Dokko Jin was supposed to play Bidam…
Ooh, great question!
I would choose Athena, and I would want to rescue (yeah, I have those kinds of fantasies) the obviously deeply wounded and tormented Son Hyuk (CSW). If he didn’t just shoot me, our relationship could be hot as hell!
OMG!!!! EXACTLY Sethe! what I would do!!! LOL Son Hyuk soooo handsome with the cow and mostly in italian black!!! Yes pls!!!
Qd, you have great taste! (Because it agrees with mine
)
Yeah, he looked particularly elegant and stylish in all that black, and with the cow, and he exuded a kind of sensual menace that I was helpless against. If I could even be in just one scene of that drama with him (um, his bedroom scene with Lee Ji-ah, of course), I think I’d be happy forever.
Great minds think alike Sethe!!! LOL!!!
That bedroom scene was like WOAH~~~ HOT D*MN !! lol
It dreams like these come true, I would die happy too! lol
City Hunter – not only because it’s still fresh in my mind, but because I LOVE action thrillers and would love to be a badass heroine who gets to work alongside Lee Min-Ho. I would actually approach him in the finale though; c’mon, we didn’t suffer for 20 episodes for no reunion! I get that the core of the story is his relationship with his father, but I’d have liked a little more closure to the romance at the end.
LOL, FUN!
We played this game on twitter not long ago…
Do you have to be a hero or heroine?
I don’t want to be the hero, I’d rather be the hilarious side-kick / assistant who never gets fired no matter what he does.
Ooh! Like Secretary Kim from Secret Garden. Omomomo. Hahah. Love him!
Easy, I would choose SMW and be myung wol just so that I could have Ryu. He is so damn cute/ stiff, and the intensity in his eyes is so hot.
I just finished Best Love the night before last. Instead of being depressed, the warmth of the show still cheers my heart. I love you for EVAR Dokko Jin!
hehe! So happy you loved it!!!! I am Dokkofied forever!!!
If you want to RECHARGE~ Hope you can make a stop here http://bestlovedictionary.wordpress.com/
Thanks, but I’ve already bookmarked it! It’s a really fun site
That’s exactly how the Hong sisters dramas are – they pull our your heart and take a meat mallet to it, and then they pack it up nicely, put a bow on it, hand it back to you and give you a hug. You feel warm and fuzzy, but the pain still keeps you in bed for a week.
OMG. i miss them T_T dokko jin! <3 piljo oppa! <3
Totally random, but after City Hunter ended I needed another thriller/revenge drama SO I started watching TIME BETWEEN DOG AND WOLF!
Best decision EVER (okay I’m only on ep. 4, but its so good…so far)
Any opinions on the drama, will it get crazy on me. And I love Jung Kyung ho’s character more than Lee Jun ki’s, but I have this fear that he is going to go all dark and villany – tell me it ain’t so!
err, have you seen a man’s story? is time . . . as good as a man’s story?
Story of a Man is better than Dog and Wolf.
I love that drama. It took me a few episodes to get into it but it turned out, for me, a great one. I’ve not seen many action kdramas so I cannot compare it to anything else. Lee Jun Ki’s actions scenes are quite good; he must have some martial arts training or something. the bro-mance is even better that the romance between LJK and the lead girl. The OST is memorable.
Happy OT everyone.
I hope you have a great weekend.
Hope everyone had a great week and is looking forward to the weekend!
Splended eve of Saturday to everyone!
Question for Korean speakers: is there a male equivalent of agasshi? I know that 30-something women are ajumma and men are ajusshi, but what about young men? Or are men and women addressed similarly to the way that they are in English, in that we differentiate between Ms./Mrs./Miss but there is only Mr.? Just curious.
Chong-gak (총각). It means bachelor/ young unmarried man.
maybe Chung Nyun? meaning unmarried man.
http://www.dramabeans.com/2011/05/yoon-shi-yoon-eyes-drama-for-next-project/
3rd paragraph in the article.
I think I freaked myself out remembering this article had the defination and then finding it @__@
Well, I freak myself out for not remembering where I put my keys, so
*thumbs up*
Well, back in the day, if you were like 18 and a guy, you’d probably be called a more gender neutral term of hak-seng (student), since it would be likely that you’d still be in school.
If not, then yes, you would be called ajusshi.
Ajusshi is not just a term for an old guy, it’s a term for guy.
Chong-gak is (bachelor) is kind of a context-specific word.
Example for a guy to an agasshi:
You’re walking down the street. A comely young lass walks by and drops her scarf. You notice and immediately grab it before another guy grabs it. You call out, “Agasshi, your scarf! I think you dropped it so I could hit on you!”
Example for a girl for a young man:
You’re walking down the street. A handsome young man in stylish clothes grabs you by the wrist and starts pulling you in a different direction. You are outraged and say, “Ya! Ee-bah-yo! Moo-sun jit-shi ya! Neh sohn ahn nwah??!” Oh wait, that’s what Kim Sam Soon would say, sorry, hold on, lemme try again.
Example for a more normal girl for a young man (ajusshi):
You’re walking down the street. A handsome young man in stylish clothes grabs you by the wrist and starts pulling you in a different direction. You act surprised and say, “Excuse me, ajusshi, could you let go of my wrist?”
Example for a more normal girl for a young man (chong-gak):
You’re walking down the street. A handsome young man in stylish clothes walks by. you sigh and say, “If only that chong-gak grabbed my wrist…”
So, you can call a young man a chong-gak, but it would be to reference his bachelor-ship. His “title” would still be ajusshi.
That said, I do have to remind y’all that in Korea, so much of what is said between two people depends entirely about gender, class and age.
A 60 year old man or woman, addressing a 22 year old guy, would find it weird to call that guy “ajushhi.”
Most likely, it would just be, “Hey you.” I’ve seen old Korean people just kick young people in the leg to get their attention, rather than have to speak first.
Calling a guy a chong-gak is one way to do it, since chong-gak not only references his age (chong-gaks are usually young) but also their status (single and ready to mingle).
Of course, my own mother and my mother-in-law both call my 22-month old son (their grandson) “chong-gak.” Not that my son is single and ready to mingle, but just cuz its cute.
/”Most likely, it would just be, “Hey you.” I’ve seen old Korean people just kick young people in the leg to get their attention, rather than have to speak first.”/
haha!
That’s pretty hilarious. When I’m 60 I plan on being exactly like that! By then I’ll have lived enough life to get away with it.
Man, I need a cure for this City Hunter withdrawal. Lee Min-ho even woke me up (wow, how I wish that were true in reality!) at 3:00 in the morning!
I am contemplating watching Time Between Dog and Wolf. I would love to do a rewatch of Story of a Man, but the thought of Park Yong-ha still makes my heart ache.
Protect the Boss looks like so much fun, can’t wait to start it soon and gush with the rest of you!
Also, I started Zenkai Girl on MJP’s rec, and I just love the setup! Finally, a jdorama I can enjoy after such a long time. Thanks MJP!
You are welcome, Mems!
Hi everyone, hope you all have a great weekend!

Haven’t watched any dramas since Baby faced Beauty as I had another interest (or is it addiction) keeping me very occupied-reading mangas! Are there any dramabeaner manga lovers here? Thank God for dramabeans that I can keep up-to-date with the ongoing dramas which I will catch up soon, hopefully
Just finished reading Hana Kimi and Hot Gimmick. Wanted to read the former after watching SKKS Scandal since I heard the premise was quite similar. The story is cute and appealing but you need to suspend disbelief of how a girl can keep up the bluff of being a boy in an all-boys boarding school for so long (don’t the school authorities check IDs and/or passports before admission?). And the beautiful artwork of the male characters will make you not want to look twice at guys who are below 180 cm, haha!
Hot Gimmick was quite a disturbing read as it touched on social issues like sexual and physical abuse. I mean, the main guy shows his affection to the protagonist by being abusive? That’s sick. But the story moves at a fast pace with interesting subplots which keeps you reading until the end. Wondering what manga(s) should I read next? Any recommendations?
I used to read manga before watching kdramas (before I knew that kdramas exist). I read Shōjo manga, a little bit of another type of mangas but mostly the ones that were funny, cute and had romance. Let me remember…I read Fruits Basket (I LOVE MOMIJI FOR EVER AND EVER), Ouran High School Host Club (the one thing I loved the most was the friendship between the guys. The romance was cute too.) I read (and watched too) Inuyasha, Ranma 1/2, Mars (this one was different, I think it wast Shōjo, but i liked it) and Hana Yori Dango. My story with that one is kind of funny. Hana to akuma…I couldnt finish Skip Beat, I read like 1/4 of it. Hmm, I now theres another…
I read mangas like 1 year, one after another. I dropped mangas to watch kdramas, and Im happy here, but maybe if another manga catch my attention (I need to finish Fullmetal alchimist) I would read it.
I dont know if you would like the ones I read, but it could help you.
Manga fan here! Hana-kimi was so cute, haha. I dropped Hot Gimmick some years back because it just didn’t appeal to me.
Depends on what type of manga you’re looking for. I’m currently following The One by Nicky Lee. The art is so gorgeous and the characters are so compelling. Check it out on Baka-updates?
Any manga recs for me?
read midori no hibi aka midory’s days it’s so damn hillarious, quirky, and funny… haha
Oh, thanks so much y’all for the recommendations!
I’ve been reading mangas even before getting caught up in Kdramas but they were children’s mangas like Slam Dunk, Detective Conan, Dragon Ball etc (you get my drift). So I’m a newbie in shojo mangas. My first one was Hana Yori Dango and since then, I got hooked
I love Hana Kimi, still haven’t got around to finish the manga yet, mainly coz I love Nakatsu and I couldn’t stand seeing him being all heart-broken and sad.
Hot Gimmick was just all-around terrible, should’ve dropped it when I could.
As for recommendations, try NG LIFE. It’s a relatively new shojo with a male protagonist. There’s reincarnation going on and some psuedo-shonenai-ai. It’s funny, sweet (but not saccharine) and surprisingly heart-felt. FRUITS BASKET is a must. EMMA is also wonderful, but it might take a while to get use to the art.
I like manga that are a little quirky, like Oresama Teacher, Lovely Complex, and Skip Beat. I’m a die-hard fan of Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge, which is also a j-drama with Kamenashi Kazuya. (that’s all I need to know)
Of course, there’s the big ones like Ouran HS Host Club, and Vampire Knight.
But here’s a few less known ones like Dengeki Daisy, Barajou No Kiss, and Reimei no Arcana.
Don’t forget the classics: Sailor Moon, Inuyasha, Ohmi Tomu’s books (Barairo My Honey, Midnight Secretary)
And One Piece!
Happy Friday/Saturday, everyone. I’ve just had an unpleasant lunch-getting experience so I’m kinda not up to posting an update on HAG (it’s his last day) or even reading the comments
I’m sure I’ll be better later. I have a “date” w/my bandmate and her niece later and I’m sure that’ll cheer me.
Anywho, till later unnies and oppas!
Aww, tinpra…that’s unfortunate. *hug*
I hope your day gets better. xoxo
Yo, CMR!
We (I, anyway) will be waiting with baited* breath for your return.
(*What does that mean, anyway?)
Jomo,
Here is a linky to answer your question!
Hello everyone! Happy Friday!
I just got on the SOAW wagon and boy, is it a lovely show. Still hooked to MWS and YFFM as well. It’s gonna be a drama-ful few months, I’m a happy camper with all these great shows but my internet at home is non-existent so I have to find other ways to get my shows *cough*fix*cough. Heheh.
Hey there, Schamzel!
I’m not saying that you should watch Protect the Boss, but you really should watch Protect the Boss.
The comedic acting is as solid as some of the olde tyme movies.
You don’t get that rushed and frenetic editing from some of the trendies. It feels like a film.
Music is nice, too.
Really? Must get on that boat asap! Hahah. Thanks for the heads up, Jomo!
(I travelled 3 hours to my brother’s house just so that I could access the internet and get my dramas.)
First time ever in an open thread, this place is fun!
!!!
I have gotten so obsessed with Myung wol the Spy that Monday and Tuesday, the days that I used to dread have temporarily become my most looked-forward-to days in a week. Is this normal >_>;;?
And my other baby! Protect the Boss! I thought I was going to be in a treat after seeing the trailers, but the actual episodes turned out to be even better
I like how all the main characters are all very real, flawed and yet endearing. I also like the tender atmosphere this show has, I laughed, snickered, smiled and sympathized along the show and generally felt good afterwards. It’s a really ‘healing’ drama to watch
Which is why I am reeeaaally hoping that the DB crew will recap the show! K-drama watching experience, esp one that I adore, is just incomplete without DB recap DX (look at me being all pathetically dependant haha)
Everyone enjoy your weekend!
Welcome to the OT!
Agree totally on your take of PTB. It’ll be the sleeper hit of the season.
Thanks for the welcoming =) !
I adore the show! But I am so worried that some of its more “fierce” stans are turning pple off the show by being ridiculously self-centered and *demanding* it be subbed and recapped ;__;
Anyhow, hope lots of people watch PtB and enjoy its refreshing gentleness ^^
Anyone know if there are any english subs up anywhere for Protect the Boss?
Also, Heartstrings question: why does the drummer call Hee-Joo “onnie” or “unnie” shouldn’t it be noona or does his term mean somethign else entirely?
I just finished watching both episodes on Viki. The subs aren’t complete yet but you can get the gist of it. Also Koala’s Playground has recaps, so that help me too.
I think the drummer just calls everyone who feeds him “unnie”.
Ohmigoodness!! It’s going to be OT#200 next week!!!! What’s the plan guys? =DDDDD
Well, it depends on whether OT is a girl or a boy.
Different celebrations for when a boy reaches a certain age than when a girl reaches a certain age….
Hmmm…I’m not quite sure I get what your implying there, samsooki??
mud, I was thinking much the same! There should be e-festivities, e-cake, and…and…um…stuff! Mayhap an acknowledgment of 200-ness.
samsooki: um, how do we determine the gender of a number? Should we base it on whether the OT jpeg is more blue or more pink? lol.
Well, the reality is, women outnumber men on OT probably 8 to 1?
So… looks like OT has to dress up in green and red.

check out the neat video.
The women start out wearing a yellow and red hanbok, an during the ceremony, they add a green top and put a hair pin (bi-nyuh).

I couldn’t get the Korean site to load (grr, argh) but the English language site was great! Thanks for the link. I’ll try the other site again at work before ppl come in and jam the bandwidth.
Hmm…how can we stick a binyeo in the OT’s hair? think think think
Hi everyone!!! Just wanted to scream YAY i’m all done with my Naplex and CPJE exams and now just gotta pray that i passed both to get license. Time to chill and watch kdrama:)
Is anyone else around here watching The Princess’s Man? I’ve been trying to look for recaps but alas other than first impressions, most of the usual drama bloggers don’t seem to be covering it at all.
I’d been hoping a guest recapper (samsooki? Kaedejun? Ockoala?) would take it on since this isn’t usual JB or GF fare, but think with the current run of recaps and dramas it may be impossible for them to do it, since how y’all do this and still have a life I don’t know. I can barely hold my job and follow a drama at a time and still have time to sleep!
I’m still wallowing over the end of CH and trying to fill the gap, hence TPM and MW. Myoung wol’s fight scenes, I have to say, strike me as ineffectual after being spoilt by CH but I love the absurd tone of the drama! Eric’s facial expressions are priceless, really.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend and if you find any TPM recaps let me know….
Happy Friday!
.
Im going to return to school on Monday. I want to return, but that means less Kdrama time
I Need Romance ends (I read the comments) but its subbed only until episode 12, so I have to wait.
I need to finish Miss Ripley and Romance Town, but i have to be in certain mood to watch those two, and for the moment Im not in it.
But Im still watching My love by my side. And in the first place for reasons why I watch it? I want to see Seok Bin suffering. A lot. Thank god that now is established that he is a villan too, because I hope that means tha he will suffer. I like the romance between Mi sol’s mom an Seok Bin’s uncle. And the kid.
Im also watching Myung-wol the spy, but Im behind. Its very funny.
dramafever has all 16 episode of INR subs.
thank you!
Oh i just remember. I cant watch them on Dramfever. They re not available in my country

I’ve been trying to find excerpts of 1N2D on YouTube, as I can’t find the entire old shows subtitled in English.
Anyway, I came across some very funny scenes. There’s the one with Lee Seung Gi and his “bikini show” line, the scene with Lee Su Geun who had to be taken out of a tub because he was too cold…
Do you have any favorite ones that are a must-see?

oh wow, thank you!!!
@WARRIOR BAEK DONG SOO,
I’m up to Episode 7, and I’ve decided that this may be the worst use of special effects I’ve seen since 1000 Years of Love. The worst aspects of jaidaeki and wuxia. The fight scenes in Chuno were tedious, but this is just painful.
Warrior Baek Dong Soo absorbs the worst aspects of jaidaeki and wuxia, yet because episodes play a lot like . . .well . . NARUTO, it’s compulsively watchable. Choi Min Soo’s Jack Sparrow act is all sorts of goofy awesome, and Yoo Seung Ho . . . is it too early to want to have your babies???
Ah, Yoo Seung Ho (aka this show’s “Sasuke.”) You’re good in the normal show, but you’re Jang Dong Gun when you’re in sageuks. May your flowing mane always flow!
Hi Belleza! I find WBDS ridiculously addictive. It’s like WotS meets Naruto – but with extra pretty scenery.
Choi Min Soo is owning this show though.
We’ll have to check YSH’s birthday…Aug 17, 1993. Ok, you’re getting close – passes THE BUCKET in the meantime.
I may go shoot whatever director or SE editor decided to use the effect they use for battles that uses flashes of still photos. All it does is make me feel like I’m having a seizure. On the other hand, the lighting guy is going to get a 7 course meal for his lighting of Choi Min Soo – just beautiful.
To me, this show is so utterly stupid that it’s awesome LOL.
I swear, everybody’s a ninja in this show. You got a kid ninja school, Team Baek Dong Soo, and Oh Man Suk wears that uncomfortable expression that says “uhhh . . . this isn’t what I signed up for.”
I like how everybody does a mini-speech before the fight. And that one dude who keeps giving his sword a blowjob . . . is he going to be like that Black Knight from Monty Python and still insist on fighting the Swordmaster even after he loses all his arms.
“On the other hand, the lighting guy is going to get a 7 course meal for his lighting of Choi Min Soo – just beautiful.”
The funny thing is, I think Choi Min Soo may actually be inebriated as he’s performing. It’s like he’s doing a different show from the normal show, and the director’s hiring a mini-production crew just for Choi Min Soo’s character. I LOVE IT. He really was the Johnny Depp of his generation, I love it when Choi Min Soo does weird, it’s so . . . manly and ridiculous . . . ridiculously awesome.
I keep having fun by watching the clock…11 minute mark – oops time for a fight scene! – no fight scene possible in the plot? Well, let’s have a FLASHBACK to a fight scene! 23 minutes? fight or battle or flashback!
This thing is just crack. However, I must say that Choi Min Soo is probably good for about 3/4 of my love for this show. I also wouldn’t be surprised to find out that the job for the 2nd unit for this show is nothing but filming him.
I’m lmao at what you wrote. You said everything that I’ve been thinking , only better!
Also who thought that putting Harry Potter glasses on that kid was a GOOD idea? Couldn’t he just squint?
I forgot to say that this thing owned from Episode 1 where Choi Min Soo shows up – dressed in black, scruffy mane of glory, on a horse, with a hawk on his arm. Right there, I knew – here’s a show that is pandering to every failing I have in my life. It bought me body and soul.
Your comments really cracked me up!
WBDS is so awesome it hurts – those two pretty, pretty jailbait boys running around and bringing the bromance factor (it kinda reminds me of SKKS).
Choi is totally terrific in his own debauched way, Just once, I’d like to see ALL the liquor make it into his piehole instead of pouring all down his front. The Sword Saint is lacking an arm yet still remains his calm, neat self.
I’m still laughing at your description of “In” aka SwordLicker.
Lost a thumb, a forearm and hand and now that he’s escaped death from Choi’s slash and is doing all his scenes crawling or sitting, I’m wondering if he’s minus a leg? Too bad that no one figured out how to cut that pig-caught-in-a-legtrap shrieky laugh out of him.
Seriously, though – the kid playing BDS is doing a wonderful job along with junior Hotness sidekick who’s rocking his Mane of Glory!
I’m not thrilled with the young actresses (except for the tattooed monkette) – I really think they skew too old (physically) for their parts, especially in scenes with the two boys.
Thanks for your recap at thundie’s blog.. pretty awesome.. WBDS is so addictive…. storywise.. kinda silly.. but i do like the flighting scene and it’s beautifully filmed… so i am watching it for pure entertaining factor.
Choi Min Soo WAS drunk at the press conference. He showed up rather twitchy, and when asked why he chose this role, he said “because of the paycheck.”
And you can actually see Jung Kwang Ryul turns towards Choi Min Soo (becase they were standing next to each other) and mouth “what the fuck?”
It was a brilliant amazing meta moment for me.
Choi Min Soo – you seriously don’t give a shit and I love you more for it.
@belleza
It’s insane lusting after Yoo Seung Ho when I could have bore him had I been a young teenage mom. I don’t just feel dirty, I feel criminal. And to think he was the jackass kid in The Way Home (Jibeuro)…..
@momosan sweetie – banking this for a marathon on my vacay, so not reading your recaps, but HUGS on having such a blast doing it!
“It’s insane lusting after Yoo Seung Ho when I could have bore him had I been a young teenage mom. ”
For his definitive likeness to So Ji Sup, he never actually reminded me of him. Until this role.
The way his eyes conveys a mix of sadness and moral concern reminds me of Bali’s In-Wook. In every scene, Yoo Seung Ho conveys the tension of a character who understands the game and consequences of choices, yet still has a dream of escaping it. Like he knows his time is almost up, and he’ll have to choose for good.
He’s 7-9 years younger than all of his costars, yet he’s the one who seems most lived-in, wisest, and just THERE THERE in this role. How can Yoo Seung Ho be THIS good at 17??!!?
Couple of years and he will be in prime (err… more legal) noona killer territory….I can wait. I’m patient like that. Muahahahaha.
It’s very bankable. I think it’s going to be a show that marathons well.
My favorite part of that conference was the fact Choi Min Soo showed up in a ball cap and blue jeans like he had just rolled out of a biker bar, when everyone else was spiffed up.
