Hi everyone!
I just want to take a moment to thank Javabeans, Girlfriday, Kaedejun, Samsooki, aberdeen_angus, red_pill, cassie.opeia, nattacatta, dw4p, soyjoy, gummimochi, Andromytta, skimmy, nokcha icecream, and everyone else who has contributed to dramabeans and written recaps for us to read over the years (I’m sure I’ve forgotten/overlooked someone- sorry!). I very much appreciate this site and all that you bring to it for us, and I wanted to apologize for both the complaints and overly-entitled demands made by a number of the readers here, as well as for not commenting and thanking you all enough myself. I have one and all I can say is that it’s like a mini laptop but you touch everything haha I don’t think it was worth it but I got it as a gift. Also a thing I hate about it is you can’t download flash so you can’t watch a lot of videos other than youtube. But it has all the same apps as an iphone or ipod touch would.
iPad2. It rocks for:
1. dramabeans browsing.
2. light email.
3. netflix and/or tv watching.
4. kid’s games / learning activities
5. ebooks.
it’s not so great for:
Writing stuff, work stuff.
it doesn’t work at all for:
Adobe flash-driven stuff.

There are a ton of K-drama’s on Instant watch. I was surprised when “Lie to Me” was a top 10 suggestion for me.
I just saw that too and I was just thinking of going to disc only! fortunately, none of the shows they have are shows I haven’t seen or want to see. Now, if they get city of glass or a man’s story then I’m a goner!
i saw this too! there are only like 10 dramas up there right now, but if more come, i will willingly switch my plan to the new (more expensive) all instant plan. otherwise they’re not getting a cent more than the $9 bucks a month i currently pay them.

Anybody watching Sparkling/Twinkle Twinkle?
I have been watching it thinking it was 50 episodes however we’ve reached 50 and there’s no conclusion in sight.
Anybody know how many episodes it’s going to be? Hopefully we finish up soon.
I got to 42, read some spoilers on soompi, and said, “WTF?”
I may dl the rest and skip skip skip until I see someone smiling again, then watch from there.
I know it’ll end happy, but I am really sick of the Editor’s mom and GR-biatch.

I walk away so angry when i watch this drama!! I just want to slap GR every time she opens her mouth!
I used to have a more balanced view of her (I only wanted to shake her, lol) but now I find myself shouting “You heiferish cow! What is wrong with you,” etc. and so on. Mind you, “heifer” is one of those Southern insults I vowed never to use. GR totally brings it out of me!

Was there a invite for rude, entitled people demanding/asking/pleading for recaps to sudden congregate here and ask the same question over and over again?
There is an unspoken polite rule in Dramabeans, enforced by people like me who worship JB and GF’s writing and talent, and appreciate ALL they do for the community, that YOU DO NOT DEMAND RECAPS.
Even posting one-liners asking is pretty douchey. If they are going to recap something, the recap will one day show up. Happy, shiny, pretty, witty recap. Oooooh, it’s here. *toddles off to read*

The actual exams will be in less than 100 days. However I’m busy prepping my students for the trial exams which will be twice beginning August. It’s tough for teachers but it’s even tougher for the students.
That’s why I’m only watching two dramas for now. I’m sticking with You’ve Fallen For Me and Myung Wol the Spy for now. If Protect the Boss continues on its awesome route, I’ll pick it up most definitely. I need a whacky drama now for stress-reducing purposes and PTB might just be it.

Hi hi only suddenly popping up because I am going to KL for my holidays
trying to escape winter.
Do they have Korean dramas on the local channels?

A fellow Malaysian stranger once thought that I was a foreigner too. It made me realize that I don’t exactly look like a typical Malaysian (Hmm, must be the cocktail of blood in my veins).
Oh you’re going to KL? Any interesting place in mind? I might have some local wisdom/tips to offer.
Korean dramas are abundant on TV especially on the private station’s channels (I think it’s what our Americans calls cable). And at least 3 of these channels regularly show Korean dramas, the most reliable being KBS World.
I don’t know.I am chilling and shopping.LOL.
No tourist sights.Oh I guess I have to go to the Petronas Tower.Or catch a concert in the ?auditorium there.I hear the acoustic is fantastic.

Trust me, food is NEVER a problem in KL. I expect that you’ll gain a few pounds from all the eating! Haha.
You’ll have fun shopping in 1Utama. It’s huuuuge!!! But take a trip to Mid Valley Megamall too. Every where you turn you’ll see boys trying to dress like Lee Min Ho (K-fashion is really big in KL now).
I’m afraid to offer you any directions on how to get to the hotel because I don’t want to cause you to be lost in the middle of the city. However I do have one tip for you, if you are lost or in doubt, just go to KL Central. This place is the rendezvous point for almost, if not every known public transportation in KL. Just ask the people working behind the Information counter and they’ll you how to get to your destination, which train/bus/taxi to take and where to get off.
If you are going to KL during Raya then you’ll find that they’ll be less people in the city. It’s tradition to go back to your hometown and celebrate Raya with your family. So the streets will have less traffic (Yay!) but some shops will be closed (Nooo!). Your shoe-shopping won’t be affected though, so no worries

We are doing alright here, thanks for asking. How are you and your family? Wee MJP and I picked up some sort of intestinal virus. MJP Hubby is totally fine. But other than that, we are doing well.
The trip to visit Hubby’s family went well. We celebrated Wee MJP’s 4th birthday there. I’m glad to be home, though.
MJP Hubby and I just watched Episode 1 of Channel-X starring Joe Cheng. It’s the sort of thing he likes to watch, suspense, intrigue, twisting plots, action and the like.
Say, I think I know why people think of you as from the U.S.A. It’s because you express yourself very eloquently when writing in English. No blushes or “awe shucks” please, I’m just being pragmatic.
I wish you and your students well on the studying and testing. Keep us updated on the progress, okay?
Say, is your exercising part of your daily routine? Do you get up early to do it? Just curious. You once mentioned you needed to get out exercising one on one previous OT post and I thought I would ask.
I don’t exercise much these days. I have a lot of excuses and little motivation. I know… I need to just do it.

In any case, Blessed Birthday for Wee MJP from this hyung (would ahjussi be more appropriate?).
I have much to learn to improve my command of the English language. So in a way, OTs really help me to be better.
Exercise? I do it often, 3/4 times in a week in the late afternoon. I run and play badminton. It’s sort of a habit “forced” by my parents since I was a teenager. (My mom went crazy obsessed about health after watching a particular Oprah episode and the rest is history). I prefer jogging on parks but most of the time I would use the gym at home and run around the house. Ironically though, I’m not the slightest bit athletic! Heh
Yep, you should just DO it! It’s great for strengthening family bonds and you’ll be healthier too.
And have you decided on what you’re gonna study yet? You listed quite a few choices a few weeks ago.

Didn’t get the chance to watch any K-dramas this week
I come home from work considerably later than usual then do my recaps, and fall into bed. Not to mention the evilly strong rains we had this week– I needed to cross several floods just to get to work! It’s just that I do need to work to support myself, and every day I take off work that I don’t get paid for means less income that will let me do the things I want to do. Sigh, Third World, whyyy. On the good side, the sun is actually shining now.

There’s been a mini-reunion on FB that has greatly lifted my otherwise down-in-the-dumps spirit. Such a craptacular afternoon. Meeting my friend and her cousin helped a bit, and the fancy frozen yogurt helped some more, but once I was alone I got to dwelling on non-work related things that are kinda haunting us at the moment. Nothing life-threateningly traumatic, but a big deal. Anywho, the unexpected reunion turned my wailing into dancing. God…He rocks.
Anywho: HAG’s last day was today…and he didn’t show! Which I didn’t know until later in the day when I went to see “Andy” about something. Argh! Now I don’t have closure. Yes, I know I’m being stupid, but coupled with the yuckiness of the afternoon I haven’t been able to be reasonable about it until just about now.
On the other hand CSG/HHG (same dude) called me “elegant” yesterday. The joys of a skirt and heels, they are many
Best Love: Omo…who was it that told my my Dokko Jin cheerleading would be rewarded? Because you are so right. I’m in the midst of ep 13, I think, and he’s becoming so human! Like this is almost a character-180. I still feel bad about Yoon Pil Jo. He’s such a good guy. Like he’s deserved Ae Jung all along, hands down. They have great chemistry. But now so do Ae Jung and Dokko Jin. Argh! (In a good way) But since I’ve got 3 episodes left, Min Ah has returned, and WhatsHerName and the Evil Manager are still conniving, I know there’s major drama llama to come. But what? I’m not exactly at the edge of my seat, but every time I watch BL, I’m charmed all over again.

Heya! I’m glad you’re feeling better. Don’t worry, I get stumped by the abbreviations all the time too. It took me almost a year to figure out what OTP was. (By the way, for those of us who may still be in the dark, it reads One True Pair.) So here: SOAW = Scent Of A Woman. I’m not sure If I’m following any KDrama abbreviation conventions, though.

Bated is just a shortened form of abated (meaning – to bring down, lower or depress). ‘Abated breath’ makes perfect sense and that’s where the phrase comes from.

He turned 4 this week. We celebrated with Hubby’s family and had a very nice time.
I spent all night Friday from 12:30 a.m. until 7:00 a.m. watching dramas, catching up on Asian Entertainment news and reading/writing on the OT.

Waiting for subs! I really wish I could learn Korean. Ya know how easy it would be watching dramas? No more waiting for subs. I can better understand their jokes so I can laugh in the moment. I just finished watching the first two episodes over at Viki.
This is by FAR the funniest Kdrama I can ever remember seeing – and that includes Best Love.
It’s refreshingly funny, the characters don’t play true to type and each of them has two sides – i.e., the father is overbearing and too physical but loves his son to distraction. He’s frustrated and doesn’t understand his son’s odd behaviors. The grandmother is a hoot! I really liked her in BOF, and how funny is it to see this little lady putting a guy in a headlock for the beat-down?! Heee!
JaeJoong is good and I can’t quite figure him out yet – is he devious or not? Is he concerned and caring, or not? Difficult to say as we’re only 2 episodes in.
Have to give our leading man BIG props for this crazy turn – I really didn’t connect with his character in Royal Family, but here he is EXCELLENT. Watching him is like seeing a cat trying to keep its feet dry on a wet surface, dancing and twitching all over the place.
What I really like about PTB is that I don’t have to be Korean to get the humor – that was a big problem for me in watching Best Love – all that meta was distracting ’cause I just didn’t “get” the additional innuendos, inferences, etc.
Here, the funny is just funny. It’s delightful and I’m loving it.

well i just want to make an explaination here bcoz it seems many people seems annoy with d people who r requesting for DB to recap PTB… me also want to read d recap frm PTB plus with jaejoong in drama makes me fangirling…^^ well majority of us just requesting not forcing… many people seems misunderstood we r forcing PTB to do d recap… n to d one’s who r doing d recap if u dun want to do d recap of PTB n feels like being forced out of ur wills then dun do it… i dun want to feel like a bad girl forcing people to do that n this… i also know that d rules of this site “dun ask for recap’…. n for d fans of PTB it is this site choice whether to recap d drama or not n we cant REQUESTING them to do d recap out of their wills… maybe we just shud watch d drama directly.. plus i heard at mysoju they ad post d PTB ep1..

Is asking :”will dramabeans be recapping this series?” a demand written in passive agressive manner? Or is it a question (granted, asked too many times but only because the series is popular and a lot of fans would like to see it recapped here.) I have not seen ANY agressive, demanding, insulting questions for PtB recaps. A simple answer: “Yes” or “No”, would stop the influx of those. I don’t know what sort of silly or angry e-mails java got, I’m simply commenting on what I’ve seen here in the comments.

This is the first time (and possibly the last) that I am posting here on the Dramabeans Open Thread. Usually I am just a silent visitor.
I really enjoy reading Dramabeans recaps. Even though I usually just read the recaps and don’t watch the drama itself, I really feel like I am watching the drama when I read them. So, to those who write the recaps I want to compliment you and let you know that you are doing an awesome job. Thank you very much.
After reviewing many comments regarding the issue of asking/requesting/demanding in a passive-aggressive/polite manner to recap Protect The Boss, I would like to offer up my personal thoughts as to why people may write such comments.
I must confess that I too would enjoy reading recaps of Protect The Boss because Jaejoong gets me excited beyond belief. I believe that the majority of the people are simply putting in a request, there is no malice or intent to force the issue, as we have no control over what Dramabeans recaps.
So to the people who write the recaps: I truly understand that you will not write recaps you don’t want to write. I admit it saddens me to read the controversy between those doing the requesting and those who are reacting to the comments containing the requests.
I certainly don’t want to give the impression that I am a “bad girl” forcing people to do my will. I also understand the rules for the Dramabeans website. So for those who want recaps of Protect the Boss I say, it is this site’s, Dramabeans, choice whether to recap a drama or to not recap a drama and we cannot “request” them to do a recap, so please stop doing it.
Maybe everyone should just watch the drama and come to their own conculsion regarding the events or wait until the English subs come out. The good news that I can share with you is that you can watch it subbed at mysoju!
Again, thank you Dramabeans writers for all your hard work and please do not feel stressed with us Protect The Boss fans. We don’t want you to feel pressured by our requests.

I just retyurned from watching “Sunny” at the local theatre and it was such an explosion of awesomeness!!!! It’s got a little bit of everything: friendship, self-discovery, growing pains, horror, action, musical, romance, comedy… I’m positive that all card carrying beanies will love it as much as I love it.
