Hello everyone.
WBDS! Ji Chang Wook was so amazing in ep 13. I wasn’t expecting him to be that good. Yoo Seung Ho on the other hand, I feel his character is just too passive at this point. Give me a little more evilness.
I watched the first 2 episodes of protect the boss last night (Cause there are just so many times you can rewatch WBDS episodes and bromance mv’s). Dont’ you guys just love the female lead? And Ji Sung is so cute.
Happy friday!
The actor playing Baek Song Doo reminds me of Lee Min Hot… not his acting, but his face……
Am I alone in this?
Really? I didn’t see the similarity yet. But now that you mention it, Ji Change Wook just got so much hotter. We can never have enough of Lee Min ho. So probably the drama gods decided to clone him?
do you mean the child actor or the older actor? I have to see I don’t see the similarities either. I think the actor playing woon/un ( older woon/un) looks like lee min ho a bit. except he’s still in boyhood but he’ll be a major hottie soon.
I don’t see any similarities, either, but BOTH boys are doing a fantastic job in this drama! I like the fact that this sageuk doesn’t have an overabundance of characters (sometimes it’s tough keeping track of everyone in these historical dramas) and the strengths of both generations here is wonderful to watch – especially, crazy “Sky Lord” – he’s one bananas dude, on and OFF camera. His turn on Running Man was really kind of creepy for the first half, but it was funny to see how everyone simply cowered in fear around him.
I agree with you Aoiaheen.
I think Yoo Seung Ho’s character is actually boring. I am still waiting though as he turned down the lead for the role.
Sky Lord is still very entertaining
Oh! the sky lord. I wonder why Go Ok (Ji) fell for the swordmaster rather than Chun. The sword fight between Go Ok and the sword master should have been frought with sexual tension but i could only see it in Go Ok’s face. The sword master seemed a little uncomfortable. Now, if it were Chun battling Go Ok, then i think my laptop would have gone up in flames.
the sword fight scene was actual quite interesting to watch…. kind of like dancing the tango with a sword.. but i do agree that the sword master was a little too reserved.
You liked it? Cool. I love dance/sword-play a lot too. If you haven’t watched The Duelist, then I suggest you watch it. You can’t get cooler sword play than that. The movie is not to everyone’s taste (I’m a die hard fan though) So if you don’t want to watch the whole thing watch part 5 (i think) the part where Han Ji Won and Kang Dong Won battle it out in an alley way.
Woon is not boring, he’s just undecided as of what to do or what to choose,
He betrayed his friends & he feels guilty about it, in the other hand he has that killing spirit taking over him, as the swordmaster said “He holds a sword with murderous intentions”
I just hope the ending won’t be tragic, not like “Emperor of The Sea”
If you’ve seen it, it was great but depressing ;(
It must be sad to be Un. At first I wasnt sure why he was on Chun’s side when he spent so little time with him but over 8 years with Dong Soo and group. But when I thought about it a little, it might be because he thought of Chun as the first father figure and wanted to impress him or needed his approval.
I wish too that he gets a happy ending. But i have a feeling he won’t. The story doesnt seem to be going in that direction. Alas!
Worth noting, the writers had to accomodate Yoo Seung Ho’s injury for the Episode 13 and 14 shoots. If you look closely his face was a bit swollen.
I was surprised to see how little damage there was to his cheek – especially when all the initial reports had reported that it was a skull fracture, etc.
As far as his character is being played out – his actions are contrary to his intent. He may have been trained as an assassin, but think about it. Has he really killed anyone? All of his sword work has injured but not directly killed any of his acquaintances. He deliberately spared his friends at the butcher shop, and his sword thrust into the Prince was just the final blow to a man already dying from his battle with the Sky Lord. He’s taking on the guilt for deaths but hasn’t caused any of them. Plus, he cries with each deed. I think that he’ll die at the end but only in defense of Dong Soo. I imagine it will be Dong Soo fighting against the crazy Sky Lord and YSH steps in and kills Sky Lord. I hope!
**Spoiler to those who havent watched ep 13*
I don’t understand YW’s behavior at all. But Dong soo said there was a traitor who gave away the information of the plan to save the crown prince. Did Yeo Woon give out that information? If so, he would be responsible for everyone’s death anyway. And he didn’t kill either the crown prince or the Soong but he watched as they died. I love YSH. But i wish i knew where his character is heading. But character flaws aside, his chemistry with Ji Sun is good. I wish they end up together.
@aoiaheen
Yes I think Yeo Woon gave out the information because the Sky Lord and the other Hoksa assassins were waiting for him after the Crown Prince escaped via the well. Plus he apologized to the Crown Prince guard (am horrible with names) before he died.
What I don’t get is why is he beholden to the Sky Lord. He spent more time with WBDS and the others than the Hoksa group. In addition, he killed his dad at the urging of the Sky Lord
Ah! Perhaps that’s why he seemed a little passive in ep 13 and 14. Before ep 13 I was totally smitten with YSH’s performance. I thought he was very very good conveying the inner conflict that the character was facing. But in ep 13 and 14 he actually seemed to be underperforming (that is, i think he was capable of a better performance given his ability). Perhaps he was just in a lot of pain.
@shiku,
“What I don’t get is why is he beholden to the Sky Lord. He spent more time with WBDS and the others than the Hoksa group. ”
Because he believes that “killer” is his innate nature. Chun chose Yeo Woon as his heir, not because the boy was a genius swordsman, but because he recognize that aspect in his soul. And even the Swordsmaster expressed that Yeo Woon’s eyes was capable of deep hatred.
Think of it as Naruto vs. Sasuke. WBDS is a generational story about swordsmen and their nature. They essentially came of age together, and eventually had to choose according to their essence. Are you a demon or a saint?
@ belleza. totally agree. I think after being beaten by his father time and time again with comments about his “killer star horoscope” i think he just believes that he isn’t worth to be anything more than a killer.
It was depressing? Why? Just because EVERYONE except Su Ae and the baby (and the guy rowing the boat) die?!?
Just being silly, here – but really – how many arrows does it take to kill Song Il-Guk?! He was like a freakin’ porcupine by the last scene…
Emperor of the Sea= Good Times!
“He was like a freakin’ porcupine by the last scene!”
LOL! i haven’t watched whatever drama you were talking about. But your comment is funny even without context.
It was Emperor of the Sea (or, Sea God. Or, Hashein?) – multiple titles even back then for K-drama! I think it aired in 2001, and was like 56 episodes long. It really was an excellent watch.
I know Woon has all these struggles to go through and decisions to get through but I would prefer if he gave me more Bidam (QSD) than Won Bin (Man from Nowhere). I just feel his perfomance is bland.
Yeah I watched Emperor of the Sea and that carnage was unnecessary. I think WBDS will have a tragic ending as one of the them WBDS or Woon will die.
My money is on Woon-ah biting the big one.
After all, Baek Dong-soo is a famous, historical personage in reality, so he can’t die in his youth.
WBDS is one of my favorites right now, along with TPM. Is the season of the saeguk. I’m watching three, Gye Baek is the third one o__O
I love, love Dong Soo and Woon. Woon is not boring, he’s emo. That’s something Yoo Seung Ho does very well. The conflict in his eyes is killing me. He’s basically a good boy that ended that way because of the circumstances and/or bad decisions. He knows that what he’s doing is no the right thing, but for some reason, can’t stop himself. Is not your typical baddie that’s just bad for the sake of it.
I don’t know why, but that’s the kind of stuff that always gets me, and have me weeping like a baby. It’s the same with Myun (Song Jong Ho) from TPM. He chose his side, and he knows he’s doing the wrong thing and again, that conflict… kills me. Another example is Woo Bin (Lee Sang Yoon) in The Scales of Providence.
On a brighter note, Song Jong Ho just became legal, but barely, so we noonas can start letting go of the guilt…
“That’s something Yoo Seung Ho does very well. ‘
Yup, he’s channeling So Ji Sup impression in this role.
I can see the conflict in his eyes but I feel he still under performing in my opinion. Maybe I should have used a better word than boring.
Myun is that the officer guy in TPM (am horrible with names)
I guess he is torn as he does not want to betray his best friend but he wants Seryun all to himself.
Yoo Seung Ho’s dialed down his reactions the past 2 episodes. Too much so, I feel. My guess is that he was conserving his energy/time around his injury, and that he’ll be more “up” in subsequent episodes.
Oh and enjoy the WBDS bromance:

Squeeee!!
Linda165!!! These videos are so…. a product of pure genius. Especially the second one (Dong Soo X Yeo Woon : crack me up) I laughed like crazy when I first watched it.
INR!!! I want to kiss whoever did them!
Ditto! Thanks for the link! All laughing aside, this video editor is really good! I wonder (now) if he did anything with City Hunter?
Back to look!
Nope. **tears**
I want him to make a LMH video involving mud-wrestling and kick-ass sound track from Linkin Park….
Nothing from CH, but he/she did a couple of from Sungkyunkwan Scandal about that other bromance.
Cute!
OK then. I think I definitely have to watch this one. Thanks!!
It annoys me how the drama tries to hard to make some characters cool. Baek Dong Soo is supposed to be goofy so it actually allows us to see what he thinks and feels. But as for Woon and Ji Seon, we are only given these striking phrases that sound really cool but mean little, like “I feel murderous intents in your sword” for Yeo Woon. As for Ji Seon, I know she’s supposed to become a nun, but her constant posturing is driving me nuts. I don’t get why Dong Soo is obsessed with her since the beginning because she hardly uttered two words to him.
In the last two episodes (SPOILERS!) it seemed they tried to wrench as much emotions as they could from us by killing off a few characters in style. But I didn’t even get why Cho Rip (or anyone) had to be a substitute for Prince Sado, and why Chun killed off the general and then seemed to want to let the Prince live (what’s the point of the whole mission then?) but then he wasn’t happy because the Prince tried to fight him: “Prince, after all this you still want to oppose me?” (No, since you killed a few of his men, he’ll just retire to the countryside! -_-).
I liked the bromance between Woon and Dong Soo, but I sometimes feel the drama gives more style than substance.
welcome to the weekend ppl.. hmm, Protect the Boss seems to be going in the right direction.. Ji Sung’s hair-do put me off a lil but he is so good in it that he seems adorable no matter what.. think i’ll wait till it ends though and then marathon it.. i like marathons to weekly waits(read lack of patience:):)..)… so how are you guys finding the drama? Ji Sung, JJ and the lead actress all seem to be doing such a gr8 job..
have you seen snowman? what do you think of kim rae won in it?
no, didn’t watch that.. is it good?watched him in Attic Cat, My Love Patzzi, which star are you from, Gourmet, Love Story in harvard and My Lil Bride.. liked him in all of ‘em.. will watch Snowman this weekend (if i find it online) and let u know..
snowman is on dramafever. I don’t recommend that you watch it. If you had watched it already that is fine, but it’s a bit much.
ohh..so it isn’t good? then i’ll skip it.. cant wait for 1000 days promise.. hope it is good and does well..
ah the subject matter and the execution by the lead actress can wear on you, but kim rae won is the best that I’ve seen him. I was blown away.
I really like it. I was thinking to marathon it after it finished too, but then i saw an MV of it on youtube and it seemed hilarious. I thought I’d just peek at the first episode and I got hooked. I would probably have managed to finish atleast 4 episodes if I my eyes didn’t refuse to stay open.
i’m v. much tempted too.. watched most of Ep1 and 2 and couldn’t resist watching the previews till ep 5.. but now I wanna wait coz it seems so good.. donno if i can though..
I love it. Probably the best drama I’ve seen in over a year. They take all of the stereotypes and turn them on their heads. And it’s actually pretty believable… at least the characters are. So much fun. And for once, the second female lead isn’t some horrible evil wench. She’s just vulnerable and emotional like the rest of u. You actually want to see her happy in the end instead of hoping she’ll die.
Snowman’s my favorite work from the writer of Samsoon and Foxy Lady. Gong Hyo Jin (who had just done Rule of Your Own World) is absolutely ANGUISHED in that show. Kim Rae Won’s good in the show, though his role is more substantial in the 2nd half of the show.
Ironically, the husband and wife of Snowman are adversaries in the current sageuk Gye Baek.
really??? how cool is that! ( I mean about the rivals thing) I think kim rae won is fantastic in the show. I can see a lesser actor making that guy into a pathetic loser. I thought snowman was less subtle and more like a self help book kind of drama. The character is sober but hysterical ( I don’t think it’s a portrayal thing, only that it was written ‘delicately’) I appreciate that and I think everyone played their part really well. I described it to my sister as “the ahjussi gets the girl” but she’s been fortunate enough not to agonize over the excellent ahjussi and the jackass lead guy.
Totally into it! Gah, this drama rocks. It is past paced without leaving anything behind. You don’t need to watched overly made up gags but the actors and the plot are going along in a swift fluid motion. NO ONE, as in no one in this drama will leave feel there is lacking in the drama. How writer-nim could have possibly make each character so interesting and the interactions between them so alive and fluid, makes me wonder and admire you, writer-nim! Episode 6, two kissing scenes, confessions from both boys and loving the non-stop confession from Ji Heon.
Loving Ji Sung here, minus the hair of course, but he is so adorable that you’d overlook that. He totally dominates the screen when he is on. His expressions and his antics just gets me hooked. I could not stop laughing so hard.
What can I say, Jaejoongie is so awesome here. Personally, I would want him to get Eun Seol but since this is a drama, that will never happen. Mu Won rocks in Episode 6. Tho, I love Eun Seol being with Ji Sung, so much fun and cute moments. I would want Mu Won to be able to find someone who will love him back, and not Na Yun by any chance. Maybe his secretary too… hehehe, wishful thinking. Na Yun’s character is so cute, and the acting is so good, you find yourself pulled into her too. How can you hate such second lead. Love, love, love the ice cream scene.
And who can leave the lead actress behind, Choi Kang Hee is so awesome, making Eun Seol’s character so full of character and vibrant. I am so loving her. I like how she is influencing the grown up boys to become better people.
guys u should recap protect the boss. it’s really good. jisung is adorable and his father is cute too. ahhahaha such a adorkable family
I second that. Protect the Boss is great except…it is really hard to watch JJ look so good and cute all the time. Squirming in my seat trying to not be overcome with cuteness
LOl I totally feel the same thing with both the male leads. They just shouldn’t smile so cute, it makes me unvoluntarily squeel every time. Seriously, I can’t watch this when there is someone at home, cause they definetly would think I was getting crazy or something.
Jisung is addicting – both his character and his acting.
I like him in this, too, but I’m really wondering why he felt it was necessary to drop those 30 lbs off of his already small frame? He looks really rather fragile to me, especially when he plays against Jaejoong.
But, I do think his Lisa Simpson hairdo is calming down a bit compared to the first few episodes.
Lisa Simpson hairdo LOL.
What an apt expression as his hair has me bugging me for quite some time
I’m officially in love with him. I don’t remember the last time I loved a leading man so much. When Protect the Boss ends I’m going to make sure to watch his other dramas.
You should watch “Save the last dance for me”. That was the first drama of his that I watch and I fall for him in there.. He was awesome. Thou, the drama dragged a bit toward the end but yeah… xDDD and just to let you know, the female lead was Eugene.. ^^ and I love the soundtrack.
You should give it a try… ^^
Will do! I can’t wait until I have time to marathon it.
AND KJH is in Save The LAst Dance, also. Bonus!
that’s the second time I’ve heard about kang ji whan in save . . . who doe she play? I can’t remember him. I didn’t like ji sung in save and I made a mistake. But I was lucky enough to see him in royal family and fall in love with him. For me as far as acting chops and character appeal the list is
1. Kim Rae Won- his snowman character plus all the others!
2. Ji Sung- han ji hyun and soon to be his protect the b. character
3. go soo- cha kang jin
I haven’t seen it yet, but according to Hancinema, he plays Joeng Gyu. I”m sure it’s a small part, it was 7 years ago. But, I saw a couple of youtube videos from that drama with him in it. It’s on my (very long) list of dramas to watch, but first there has to be a lull in current dramas for me to find the time.
I was lucky to have rewatched Save the Last Dance for Me before PtB was aired. I did that because I had been thinking about a drama I watched years ago (on local TV, dubbed in Tagalog) when I was not yet addicted. I could remember the plot vaguely (the amnesia part, anyway) but nothing of the cast (that time it was very difficult for me to remember Korean names).
Imagine my very pleasant surprise to find that Eugene played the female lead and that Kang Ji Hwan was in the cast! He played the doctor who treated Eugene’s father (who had cancer) and Ji Sung (when he almost died from a mugging that also resulted in the amnesia).
Eugene’s character at first had a crush on the doctor and they actually dated some before Eugene and Ji Sung got their romance together.
Anyways, Ji Sung’s acting chops were very evident in STLDFM (this is melodrama). In PtB he exhibits a whole new range as an actor.
Ji Sung is daebak! I love him.
First: Happy OT! Happy Friday! Hope its filled with sunshine.
Second: Watching Jaejung makes me feel like he is so sad and lonely. His frown smile launches my noona rescue program (vision: body flying like Myung-wol onto Kang woo). So terribly dangerous.
@tikaa Hey, person! *waves* Just a friendly FYI; it is absolutely verboten to request recaps on Dramabeans. JB doesn’t like it, and Girlfriday hates her some it, so we don’t do it. They’re not going to recap Protect The Boss; they just aren’t. So I thought I’d save you the wrath of some DB veterans who will attempt to skin your hide when they see your comment. Heh, we’re a passionate bunch.
But please DO feel free to talk about it! I’ve heard many people say they like it, so I’m interested to hear what you find so good about it. Do you think that Jae-joong is acting well? I’ve never seen him act in anything. I’ve always been turned off by how weirdly pretty he is. He’s like an alien. It wigs me out so I’ve never looked into anything he’s done.
it’s apparently all heart-on-my-sleeve straightforward-aw-shucks earnestness firing from all sides. can’t get into it because of latent in-hee hate. LOL so yeah, i’m not gonna request for it, as per protocol.. but yeah, just out of curiosity, why isn’t it on here? not much buzz, not much love for it on this page, even though recaplandia isn’t on madness mode anymore and i’m genuinely curious why. i have my reasons, but hey. that’s me.
Oh, I actually don’t have any idea why they’re not recapping it. LOL. It just doesn’t seem to be their style to recap something after it has already been going on for a while. They’ll occasionally do a First Episode recap on something they like, or they’ll do a complete retro recap, like My Name is Kim Sam Soon, but other than that, I’ve never seen them recapping something that is already well underway.
It could be that we’re insanely busy with super-secret projects right now and physically don’t have the time to do everything we want to do. Like sleep and eat and rescue the country on a regular basis. Maybe. Just possibly. It’s a rumor.
Pffft. What. EVER, JB. Go peddle your excuses elsewhere. You’re Korean, aren’t you? Ever heard of live-shoot? Making 25 hours out of one day is what your people do. So if sleeping and eating and rescuing the country cut into your drama recapping time, that just demonstrates your unwillingness to recap every drama, which means that you’re unpatriotic, and that you hate Korea. And you hate Koreans. And you hate non-Koreans. And you hate your readers. So much hate. Aigoo….
So … super-secret projects, huh? What are they? Huh? HUH??? Tell! Pleeeeease? There’s a Kang Ji-hwan in it for you!
Hmmmmm…
Super Secret projects + LMH in California = Coincidence?
I don’t think so.
I think if she’s doing secret projects with LMH, she should give up KJH for the rest of us.
Just sayin’…
Jomo@
I think we all have to face the cold fact that JB & GF have given up on their nefarious idea to grab LMH in L.A.
It was fun to think about the possibilities, though…
at least it didn’t end with any bail bonding.
LOL jomo, *evil hands-rubbing-together* i’m liking this theory.. nooooo certainty here, jb– i mean, i know a bit of about saving the world one baby dolphin at a time, but you and that reply and all this mysterious save-the-world spy hulabaloo makes me wonder: DO I DETECT THE FAINTEST HINT OF *SOMEONE* PITCHING A PERFECT CITY HUNTER 2 STORYLINE TO LEE MIN HOT WHILE HE’S THERE?!?!??!?!?
please say YES!
LOL! Lahlita.
What if one of those super-secret projects is an exclusive interview with Lee Min Hot? with lotsa photos? and a podcast? Eeeee!
Ha! Okay, so it was established in last week’s OT that “to pull a javabeans” means “asserting one’s claim belatedly and then revising history to say one got there first”. I wonder what the term is for making a speculation about oneself quite publicly (such as by announcing it to hundreds of people in a highlighted OT post), and then calling it “a rumor”? Sounds to me like it’s taken from the same playbook!
Anyway, I hope that the rumor is true and that one of the “super-secret projects” is something really juicy like a book or a script, or perhaps a proposal for Na PD’s next show. Of course, finding time to eat and sleep is a good project too.
whoa I have no idea about that,, I just wanna let them know about this drama. I thought it would be a pity if they don’t watch this drama. guess I’m doing something wrong
You’re not doing anything wrong, Tikaa. You just didn’t know about the rule, so I told you. http://www.dramabeans.com/faq/ No harm done; we’re all friends here!
But now you know, she hates it.
http://twitter.com/#!/javabeans/status/99515334314307584.
Like, she really, really hates it.
http://twitter.com/#!/javabeans/status/99522268589330433
Requesteth not recaps, lest thou findst thyself bereft of the very recap which thou wanted … eth. Whatever. I don’t speak Ye Olde English.
Gee, you can’t tell javabeans how to
run….HER OWN….web site, and to stop
posting those annoying opinions of hers?
Who woulda’ thunk it?
(So I guess that it wouldn’t be very smart
of me to wish that we went back to the
“old style” numbering system for rant and
/or rave comments. It’s hard to read the
newest and latest comment when it ends
up hidden somewhere in the middle of an
older post, such as = 3.3.2.1. = or some
such convoluted number.) OOPS!
*
Heh, I have the same issue with the threaded responses. Sometimes it can be quite unwieldy, but it’s nice to see the flow of a conversation. However, it would be totally awesome if there were a display option: threaded or chronological, that way you could switch back and forth (like YouTube beta) but I don’t know if this site has the that functionality. ‘Tis a rare thing.
If you read the post on the phone the responses come out chronologically. I prefer this DB’s method as it’s more interactive and you don’t have to scroll up or down for replies.
Hmm ok NOT requesting a recap then, but Javabeans if you ever have the time, you really should watch Protect the Boss. Judging from the drama’s you recap, you should like it to, but then again I could be wrong.
. . . goes off to check what was airing Aug 5 . . .
JB & GF, I hope you are enjoying whatever you are watching recaps or not.
From the year end reviews, I know javabeans and girlfriday only recap SOME of the dramas they watch. When I read their year end reviews, I’m always amazed at how they fit in extra dramas into their schedule! So just because they’re not recapping, it’s not because they’re not watching it or don’t like it, they just don’t have time to write about it (which takes abt 10 times as much effort than to simply watch it). And if they’re not watching it, then everyone’s clamoring that they should watch it may turn them off it. It’s like all those people who nag at me to read this awesome book, it makes me want to put it off even if I know I’m missing out on something great.
It’s hard to say because I don’t understand enough Korean, but I don’t think Jea-joong is acting particularly great. His lines seem very “delivered” to me. But that’s ok because his character is such a wooden robot-boy anyway that it fits. But like, apparently his heart was broken in episode 6 and I wouldn’t have known if her hadn’t said “I had my heart broken today.”
JJ’s acting isn’t on par with the other three, but that’s to be expected. He’s fairly new as an actor. Quite green compared to the other three. I think JJ has only acted in 1 movie and 1 J-dorama, prior to this. (I’m not counting the short drama special type thing he filmed with his DBSK members way back when, akin more to fan-service than a true drama.)
I can’t remember which part, but in one scene, I could clearly see him holding back his own laughter (not that of Moo-won’s). Probably in a scene w/CKH where she pulls some crazy antic.
And Moo-won’s swagger-ish type walk is the way JJ actually walks. It was a bit disconcerting to see it at first, and I wondered why the PD didn’t suggest that JJ correct it, but it’s not as bad now. Or rather, they don’t show as lengthy stretches of his walking in comparison to earlier episodes, so shorter amounts of time for it to wig me out.
Haha! I caught that, too! There’s been a few times where I was like “I’m pretty sure that is JJ smirking and not Moo-won.” It’s all good, he’s not great but he’s not bad either. And he’s pretty… so really he can be as bad an actor as he wants. I thought his hair had a little too much Beiber in it through the first few episodes but he apparently got a haircut right before the final scene in Episode 6 and he is beautiful. They show him sitting at lunch with Eun-Seol and Ji-Heon is staring at them through the window. And they are alternating close-ups of both boys’ faces and I just started giggling uncontrollably in the face of all that pretty.
LOLS, that was the scene when Eun Seol kick the soda can and hit Na Yun’s face. I really see JJ laughing there and not Mu Won.
And yeah, tikaa dear, we don’t ask recaps this side of town. Actually not this side of town only but for all blogs doing recaps. It is common courtesy not to do such. Tho, you said you’re just trying to suggest.
I think Jaejoong is serviceable in this role and his insane chemistry with the rest of the characters (especially with Ji Sung’s Cha Ji Heon) also helps fit in with the drama, rather than sticking out like a sore thumb as the odd-idol-actor-out. He chose well to pick this charming, second lead role to win over the audience since I betcha he had been offered a bunch of lead roles.
As for his acting, there were many times when I feel like I’m watching Jaejoong rather than Moo Won interacting with the characters. But again, the solid storyline and the fun chemistry between the characters help to hide the shortcomings well.
Jaejoong is good here, after episode 6, I think he is so suited for this drama. Yeah, I sometimes feel that I am seeing Jaejoong instead of Mu Won. But, he just rocks episode 6!
i remember reading Javabeans’s tweet about how she just finished recapping an episode of a drama but because she received so many emails asking her to recap that drama, she instantly deleted it.
i guess its PTB. such a pity. i too find this drama so fun. Jisung is so hilarious. but if people keep asking about it, i dont think we can expect any recap.
just saw the saddest news. 2 days and 1 night will end in 6 months…. sob sob sob
Yup… I just found out about it too through my sister. I know it gonna stop sooner and later but never expected it this soon… Well, every great thing have to end..
So, is Kang Ho Dong dropping all his variety shows? That’s a lot!
I mean, if he is moving to the cable network…
OMG is this confirmed?!!!!
may i know where you read it?
please no. seriously. i’m having tears already now..
Hello Friday!
Ok… YFFM is over… and I am sad… I will forever miss S and W and how sweet they are, KY’s abs.. JH’s cuteness, SH and Y… and of course the awesome music.. I love YFFM is because it’s beautifully filmed… it’s low key and feel realistic… I love the youthfulness of the drama and the relationship development between the 2 leads.. the ending might be a little rush.. but i like it…
and I am liking PTB.. it’s so cute… all 4 leads have unique and interesting and also the supporting cast.. that might be my wed-thur drama.. .but I must say.. i am looking forward to ‘Can’t lose’.. wondering how the rating will be since it’s against PTB and Princess’s man…
Have a nice weekend everyone!
i watched eps 7 to 13 of Heartstrings.. the OTP was mega-cute.. the kisses were chaste though(pervert me..) is it coz it is a kind of teen-romance? she didn’t hug him back when he hugged her too.. read that itz a lil diff in the last ep though.. need to watch eps 14, 15 today..
Haha, Ki Young’s abs
For something that was in the show for like… one minute tops of its entire run, they sure do come up a lot in YFFM conversations
I think the kisses and hugs were so chaste because of the youth of the characters. In case you haven’t watched the finale and are a spoiler-phobe *spoiler* after the time jump, when Kyu Won has gained some maturity and confidence, she does hug him back, so that’s probably what they were going for with the ultra-PG thing. But personally I don’t mind because the chemistry between the characters was so present all the time that it didn’t so much matter how the kisses or hugs happened so much as the fact they did in terms of story advancement. Besides, most Kdramas have similar kinds of.. um.. body language so it wasn’t all that weird that it should be like this here.
What I really really gonna miss about YFFM is the music.. every single music performance is awesome.. how can we forget the audition performance by YK (If I leave),
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-K8YY-AsCE
how about ‘Because I miss you… ‘ by LS after meeting with his father…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-LPbGcKQKA&feature=related
then KW’s rendition of ‘I will forget You’ in her audition….
also LS singing lucky to KW during their MT
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-q_YZfer5sA
Funny detail about If I Leave. Back in YAB when manager Ma is trying to find a legend for Mi Nam, there’s a sketch where the manager is an assasin sent to kill the Queen, played by ShinHye – and the original If I Leave from the drama they are spoofing plays in the background.
That really did reveal the level of my fangirlism, didn’t it? XD
Believe it or not, my favorite song from the YFFM OST is the one Oh Won Bin sings, followed closely by Kyu Won’s I Will Forget You and Yong Hwa’s Because I Miss You

Hey…. Loving the current drama right now.. Just started to watched Warrior Baek Dong Su. It surprisingly good. I didn’t expect that. I was just watching it due to school holiday. xD Eventhou, its only 2 weeks but yeah~~~~ ^^
Scent of a woman is awesome. Waiting for the recap now.. Hope, it will be out soon.. ^^
And yeah… Protect the boss.. I was really really surprise that I enjoyed it. Don’t get me wrong I love Ji sung and the reason I started to watch it because of him but yeah.. not that keen with the other male lead.. *Don’t kill me* But I kind of like the drama..
Btw, just out of curiosity, any of you watching any current Japanese Drama? hehehe
Haha you’re already waiting for the Scent of a woman recap? But the episode isn’t even out yet!
Anyway, yes besides the current line up of K-dramas, I’m also watching a couple of Jap dramas. I’m watching Ikemen Desu Ne (it’s okay, I only really like the lead guy), Ouran High (HILARIOUS) and the Hana Kimi Remake. I didn’t like the first Jap Hana Kimi, but I’m really liking this one! The lead girl is adorable! And Sano looks like a mix of Won Bin and Kenichi Matsuyama (is it just me?). How about you?
Hehehehe I really really can’t wait for the new episode.. I usually read the recap first then watch the drama.. xDDD
Watched those Japanese Drama too. I really enjoy it. Especially Ouran high… Tamaki-sama is awesome. At first, I was afraid he would not fit for the role. Thou, I give him chance, I mean he is one of favourite Japanese actor. I remember loving him in Hana Kimi… xDD
However, I did not watch Hana Kimi Remake.. Is it good? I watched the 1st episode but I got super busy and decide to drop it as I felt it’s not as interesting as others… So, I’m not really familiar with the lead.. >_<" Maybe I should pick it up again… xDDDD
And you did not watch Detective Conan.. I like Junpei in it…
I started Ouran, but I couldn’t make it past the first episode. Although I like Tamaki and I like the manga, I felt that something was just wrong onscreen. Like the actors had each filmed their scenes separately and were disjointed and not interacting at all. It had nothing to hold me.
Still enjoying Don Quixote. Matsuda Shota is such a cutie, unlike all his other roles.
Hi!
I caught a few episode of Ouran and it’s pretty juvenile but funny. I’m also watching IS which I love!
Talking about IS. I love the drama woo.. Thou, I only catch the 1st episode. Like I said, I was busy and had to pick which one I really really want to watch. and IS is just too heavy for me at the moment… >_<" But I will definitely going to watch it. ^^
The 1st episode made me cry.. To be like that. I love the parents thou and I'm glad they really consider her feeling.. *Hope they still are*
IS episode 1 is dragging but you should watch the episodes after that ’cause it’s really good! Also love Zenkai Girl!
Ryo *sigh*
I hate being busy….. 2 weeks of school holiday and all I think is just stay at home and watch all those drama that I’m suppose to do…
But no, I can’t do that.. >_<" With breaking the fast's dates with friends and cleaning the house and cooking and stuff, I don't think I will be able to make it.
and not to mention.. school work. notes for the students and making power point… *sigh*
LOL Sorry, I'm rambling here.. xDDD
But yeah… watched 3 episodes of Zetai girls and again time is my enemy right now… lol
i’m loving Zenkai Girl! love the couple. the female lead is such a good actress. not to mention Ryo. i always love his acting, from 1 litre of tears and now this series. i dont watch that many Japanese dramas, dont favor them that much. but this one, really cant wait for the next episode!
Zenkai Girl! <3
Though my love is predominately for the three kids, and not the two main leads.
But it's an easy fun J-dorama to watch. Shota's friends are a hoot.
Three kids meaning Hinata, Pitaro, and the young Wakaba.
Btw, just out of curiosity, any of you watching any current Japanese Drama?
Does Ouran High School Host Club count?
I did watch the first episode of the Japanese version of You’re Beautiful, but for me, it didn’t have that charming spark that the original did. It just didn’t grab me.
Happy Friday, DB!
Just dropped by before I have my dinner.
Will be back later.
Anyeong!
Happy Friday, Izzie Star
*hugs* How was dinner?
prindle! *hugs back*
Dinner was good.
Better if Lee Min Ho was there to eat with me. Much better if Lee Joon Hyuk was there too.
Hi everyone.
I watched Rise of thePlanet of the Apes recently and it is such a good movie. The best character was Ceasar and Andy Serkis did an amazing job portraying him even though he was an ape. The movie makes you think whether its morally right to test drugs on animals. But I guess at the end of the day it’s better than testing on humans before knowing whether it works or it’s side effects.
I also watched ‘The Help’ and it was a good movie too. I think it will make a lot of money as I went on Tuesday and the theater was sold out had to go for a later showing. I had never actually thought about how it felt for people to be discriminated so much that the can’t even use the toilet. Living in a place where you are scared for your safety as you don’t know if you will die today. So am thankful for everyone who stood up for civil rights because this things may still be happening if it wasn’t for them.
I watched ep 7 and 8 of Gye Baek raw as subs are slow but Lee seo Jin was fantastic. He didn’t say a word but he was able to express his character extremely well so I am happy to be watching a show where the lead can actually act and is very charismatic. I also love the OST of the show it has such an interesting mix of traditional and modern music
I started watching Protect the Boss, it’s very funny although the lead is scary skinny.
Hi Shiku,
I saw from an earlier post of yours that you’re also watching WBDS. Between Gye Baek and WBDS, which do you prefer?
I was thinking of watching Gye Baek but picked up gf is a gumiho and protect the boss instead.
I’m debatiing whether to watch GB live or wait till later. I dont find recaps of it anywhere so i have no idea whether its good or not.
That’s easy Gye Baek (interesting story but underrated)>>>>>>> WBDS (more flash) because
1. Lee Seo Jin. He is such a talented, intense actor and he is believable in every role he plays. If there was a show about watching paint dry, I would watch him watching the paint dry as he would make it interesting. Need more convincing, his body is ripped here.
2. Gye Baek is an interesting story and I know am in store for some heartache in the future but it will be an interesting ride. OST is pretty awesome as am picky listener.
2. WBDS has the King Yeonjo-Crown Prince Sado- King Jeonjo storyline which was done so much better in Yi San.
3.WBDS has some cool fight scenes and death scenes but this was done so much better in Age of Warriors.
4. Why didn’t the guy missing his thumb, and hand die, or the guy who tried to kill the crown prince bodyguard with arrows? This makes no sense at all. It’s like they have 9 lives.
5. In WBDS am more interested in the sky Lord and the Hoksa group. I want to know who started it, where did all those swords come from, etc. Plus Sky Lord-Jin Ju’s mum-Swordmaster trifecta more interesting than BDS-Samini-Woon one.
You probably won’t see any GB recaps as not a lot of people like sagueks. Maybe I should start recapping it? LOL I would probably suck at it.
Trust me it’s good although subs are slow.
oh wow! that good huh? I need 25 hours in a day! I haven’t watched many sagueks. I’ve only watched SKKS and iljimae so far but was addicted to both of them. but WBDS made me think that maybe I should be watching more sagueks since korean history seems so rich (I never learned any korean history while I was school). and I love history.
ok. so one more to my list (my eye luggage *hands over monopoly money to ricky the royal highness* just got heavier.)
Thanks Shiku. And reading your post and thoughts…you definitely will be great at recapping it. I would read it.
Thanks but I think belleza would be a better recapper as she has such a way with words and I pale in comparison
Well, let’s put it this way. Lee Seo Jin is the Korean Sean Bean. His normal dramas and movies are solid, and he likes to play villain roles. But put him in a costume and OHMYGAWD he transcends mere serious mustache posturing into a grander-than-life hero replete with super gleam in eye.
Gye Baek (foreshadowing his legendary battle) delivers a speech in the 1st episode that made me cry buckets. That said, it’s a mixed bag to me. I appreciate its more modern perspective (less about fighting for country and more about fighting to protect the people you love) and the music plays a little like a 2011 version of Damo . . . but other aspects feel tired. Oh Yung Soo’s character seems self-consciously designed to top Queen Seon Duk’s Mishil.
However, the main problem with Gye Baek is . . . well . . . Gye Baek. It’s not really a spoiler to say that General Gye Baek eventually loses to General Yushin, and that Baekche falls to Shilla. His epic last stand is what established his legend. The ending can ONLY be heartbreaking.
WBDS is basically Naruto Shipuuden. There’s a royal court plot, but the real focus of the story is “Who Is the Strongest Swordsman of Joseon?” You have assassins and ninjas, but in this story, the “good” and “evil” are essentially those who live by a Code and those who do not. Chun and Swordsmaster, though they are adversaries, live by a Code, as do Weon and Dong Soo. They choose opposite sides, but essentially their rain’d'entre is the art of the sword.
It’s all very wuxia, and for the most part, I think half of the fight scenes suck. But in its goofy way, I like it better than Chuno. Chuno confused kitsch with art; WBDS doesn’t even pretend to.
Choi Min Soo’s magnificent though. His sword scenes palpably lack polish, but every swing is expressed with an Achillean rage that is largely absent in wuxia and sageuks, but prescient in jidaegi/taiga. He is a Sword Demon, and he plays it so on point.
‘Lee Seo Jin is the Korean Sean Bean. His normal dramas and movies are solid, and he likes to play villain roles. But put him in a costume and OHMYGAWD he transcends mere serious mustache posturing into a grander-than-life hero replete with super gleam in eye.’
You’ve captured the essence of what I wanted to say. For some reason in sagueks he leaps out of the screen and is so dashing. I also wished they didn’t decide to go with Mishil 2.0.
I also agree Choi Min Soo is magnificent and so interesting that the sword master pales in comparison. Who do you think would be an interesting adversary from other shows? I wonder how he would fare against Ruruoni Kenshin. (I know this is an absurd comparison as the latter is an anime). Or the famous Archfiend
I also prefer WBDS to Chuno as I got tired of the latter with its slow-motion fighting scenes between Daegil and the general.
I think it helps that Choi Min-soo is a certified wack-a-doodle. On and off the screen.
He scared everyone on Running Man – even into the next RR show, when he wasn’t even there! The RM were still looking over their shoulders for him to sneak up and attack them during Ji-Sung’s appearance.
@SHIKU AND KENSHIN!!!!!
“I wonder how he would fare against Ruruoni Kenshin.”
Speaking of Kenshin, the Blue-Ray version of Trust/Betrayal is coming out next week. And in 2012, we’re going to see either a reboot of the full series (JINPUU ARC?!?) or a live-action adaptation (with possibly Takeru Sato, who also played a young assassin in Ryomaden.)
In this show, Choi Min Soo is essentially playing a “Sword Demon” or a “God of Death”-style character. It’s not so much that he’s evil, but that he brings certain death and therefore he, via his sword, becomes his own moral arbitrator. Choi Min Soo strongly emphasizes this aspect about the character; Chun contemplates his own legacy, knowing that legacy is inexorably RELATIVE to the Swordmaster. This is partially why Chun never really fights Swordmaster to the limits of his ability, because he knows his own death means his identity/legend becomes a mere annotation of the Swordmaster’s greatness, rather than a unique, estimable entity. Chun cannot risk it, and therefore he PROCRASTINATES (i.e. meditates while boozing) for a transcendent perfection that he’s privately afraid is an excuse. (For example, he procures the Swordmaster’s book. Rather than absorbing it, he burns it. Why? Not out of pride, but fear that learning from such a book would remove all his excuses.) At the same time, he willfully imposes his Code upon those around him, putting everybody in suspension until he can realize that perfect (or act on his 20+year performance anxiety) and finally fight the Swordmaster to the death.
It’s tempting to compare Choi Min Soo as the Marlon Brando of Chungmuro, but really he’s more like the Mickey Rourke of Chungmuro. He’s a bona fide Tough Rebel Guy on film and in real life (and personally I don’t think any actor in Chungmuro rivals him in feral presence . . . his eyes rival Bruce Lee), but he’s also an extremely sensitive, vulnerable, and technical actor that’s been kinda locked into that kind of role. He prefers playing oddball characters, stuff that asks him to go outside the box.
I have no doubt Choi Min Soo’s kinda sleepwalking through this role. That doesn’t change that his performance still dominates Warrior Baek Dong Soo and is the most compulsively watchable phenomenon I’ve seen all year in K-drama. He’s simply THAT brilliant at this craft.
Hi Shiku! I’m not as interested in Rise… but I’m hoping to see The Help sooner than later. It looks like it might stick around, though, since it’s doing so well
Happy weekend!
The Help is a nice movie. Happy weekend. How is hot Asian Guy?
Yeah! Been a while since we heard about Hot Asian Guy and Cute Spanish Guy.
Shiku and Izzie Star! :p
HAG’s last day is this week or next….whenever the end of the month is. Plus I’m pretty sure he’s attached, so my serious interest level has tanked. On the other hand, he’s still hot! So I’m still kinda drooly, just with nothing to go with it.
CSG, on the other hand, is totally available! But I think not for me. lol! I know, I know. Also still a delight to look at, which is happening even more now that we’re getting friendlier. He actually took a road trip to the beach this weekend, so I suppose I’ll hear about whatever girls he talked to on Monday :s That’ll be a mixed bag I’m sure.
Shiku, my gram saw The Help and she really liked it.
Aw…
“I’m pretty sure he’s attached.”
My friends tell me, “As long as he’s not married, he’s snatchable.” But then again, that would make you the bad girl.
*sigh.*
And CSG… there’s still hope. “Friendlier” is good development.
what you like about lee so jin, and I would like in anyone else is that same non-talking thing. it seems like he is thinking a million painful things and then he delivers his line with something like a smile and a grimace. I keep thinking of kim rae won, except he is more believable, or I believe that the character is kim rae won, and kim rae won is the character and that kim rae won is not the character but with lee so jin I don’t get to focus on the character, I think oh yes, he’s really this orphaned student ( phoenix) but what is going on with him, does he need to use the bathroom?
Touché
I know he wasn’t that great in the Phoenix and am sure other actors could have done better in that role. Nevertheless you should give this drama or his other dramas a chance.
What do I like about him? His intensity, talent and the ability to make a role believable to me.
I believe he’s talented too. I saw some of yi san and I’ll watch gye baek. It airs at a good time, no conflicts. I don’t mean he’s a bad actor, I only feel that he’s trying too hard. He reminds me slightly of yoon kye sang in best love.
Oh no, I just saw in allkpop the news about 1 night 2 days going to end in 6 months.
JB and GF will be devastated.
http://www.allkpop.com/2011/08/kbs-announces-that-1-night-2-days-will-end-in-six-months
i’m iffy on trusting allkpop completely (they tend to be precipitate SOMETIMES) but HOLY GOD NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Happy Friday!
Am an eager beaver today, as there is something I want to share with OT bloggers.
To toast our 200th OT, I first thought of writing a limerick. Or, a haiku. No sweat, I thought. But then the haiku never saw the light of day. And the limerick morphed into something else altogether.
In the post below), is my very first fanfic, in celebration of my kdrama obsession. Genre? As you will see, it’s a (con)fusion of many whatevers. Be warned—it’s a bit long. Hope it’s within DB’s policy on maximum word count allowed for a post.
I call it Dramabliss Fan Fic cum Quiz #1. As the title suggests, it doubles as a kdrama quiz. Instructions are at the end of the post.
To quote Nodame, “please try your best to enjoy!”
Hahaha, any fanfic that quotes Nodame is already a favourite of mine. Fire away!
miss biscuit hello!
I thought that was you, Miss Bunny! Is it going to be a new username every week?
Yep. I want to read it too, dramabliss.
DRAMABLISS FAN FIC CUM QUIZ #1
(Dedicated to JB, GF, Samsooki and all DB recappers, bloggers and kdrama addicts everywhere)
It Does Not Snow in August aka Creating Destiny in KDramaland
Episode 5: Age of Innocence
SCENE ONE
[ Establishing shot: One fine day, in a secret garden east of Eden ]
[ Sound Track: “Perhaps Love” by Placido Domingo and John Denver ]
A man and a woman walk along a cherry lane. Alas, the blossoms have fallen and withered away many moons ago. The good news: Summer blooms abound. It is a good day for the wind to blow. Best of all, it’s Episode 5, so our lovers can now walk close together, hand in hand.
But first, a word about our OTP… (by way of recapping Eps 1-4)
[ Montage of various scenes showing our hero and heroine in the world that they live in ]
[ Sound Track: “Flower Light” from Ballad of Seo Dong OST ]
Our main female lead is obviously in love, so I’ll call her Blissful Woman (BW). She’s a Paris-trained patissier at the high-end resto, Gourmet, where our OTP first met, when she accidentally went into the men’s room and caught him bawling his eyes out, having been dumped by his girlfriend of three years. (Aside: This merits another story but that’s better left to Samsooki.)
BW’s big dream is to open her own patisserie, to rival that of the famous king of baking, Kim Tak Goo.
Our main male lead belongs to the second generation chaebol family who owns Korea’s number one coffee shop chain, Coffee House, so I’ll call him Coffee Prince (CP). Yup, this chaebol family is modern Korea’s equivalent of a royal family. (Aside: RHRH, I hear CP’s your cousin, forty-nine days removed.)
CP is a hotelier and CEO of the family-owned Harvest Villa Resorts. Rumor has it they are also the biggest stockholder of the clothing line Fashion ‘70s. It must be true judging from the look of his running shirt… ah, ahem, tracksuit… which is nothing spiffy or sparkling as any of these: http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=212013508824300
[Fade out]
SCENE TWO
[ Fade in shot of our couple, near a bench farther down the cherry lane ]
[ Sound Track: “I Believe in Love” by Tata Young ]
CP (raises face and hands to sky):
“Wow, it’s Ep 5 and, finally, we are dating! Hooray for love!
(bows deeply): “Thank you, Show! Kamsa hamnida!”
BW (closes eyes, sniffs here and there, takes deep breaths): “Ohhh, this is wonderful! Can you smell it? Don’t you just love that summer scent?”
CP: “Summer? My personal taste runs more along this line… (catches BW’s waist, turns her round to face him, nuzzles her neck): Hmmm, nothing beats scent of a woman, eh?”
BW (pushes CP away, swats his ear with brand name bag):
“Hey, you bad guy, this is not in the script! Wait for Ep 16!”
CP (rubs ears):
“Oww! How can a woman be that strong. Aissh, such a damo…are you Gil Ra Im? (Mumbles under breath): “Aigoo… what if we get extended to Ep 31? Stars will be falling from the sky before we can kiss…aigoo…”
BW (sticks tongue out at CP, then turns away, walks a bit then stops, points to flower bed):“Look, look, a dandelion family! Irises, too! Pick me an iris, quick!”
CP (shakes head):
“No way. Flower picking not allowed. I’m sorry, I love you but do you know what will happen if I’m caught? All that shining inheritance down the drain. Besides, don’t you know the rule? Boys before flowers, remember? Boys. Before. Flowers.”
BW (looks around, then whispers to CP conspiratorially):
“No one’s looking, see? No city hunter roaming about. No crime squad either. Go! Go! Aja!”
CP, Man of Still that he is, remains unmoved. Well, at least, he rolls his eyes upwards and smiles a la Cha Dong Joo (one-sided), or is it a la Baek Seung Jo? (a smirk, really, pfft.)
BW (stamps feet, wiggles, pouts):
“Oppa, just one, please? If not an iris, then a green rose. Yes, a green rose!” (Pouts some more, wiggles some more): “Oppa….oppa…”
CP (leans a la Park Hae Young alias Mr. P aka Mr. Hand Towel, puts finger on temple, appears to reconsider): “Mmm, this sign says ‘Don’t pick flowers.’ That sign says ‘Don’t walk on grass. I think I can swing it. (takes BW’s hand, leads her to bench) Why don’t you sit here, my girl, and oppa will see what he can do.”
CP goes off, heading to the ground where the grass patch is. BW sits on bench, arranges skirt prettily a la Lee Seol.
[ Zoom out shows BW on bench, eyes closed, head raised towards the sun, as CP looks for something in grass patch.]
[ Call-out near BW’s head: “I am so happy I can swallow the sun!” ]
[ Sound track: Tweets of thorn birds; “Loving You” by Julia Fordham ]
[Fade out]
SCENE THREE
[ Camera follows CP returning to bench, holding something behind his back ]
[ Sound track: CP humming, “You are my destiny…you share my reverie…” ]
CP (sits beside BW):
“You vixen, you know I can never resist that OPW. Still I have my family’s honor to uphold so I got you this instead.” (holds up a three-leaf clover in front of BW’s face) “Tada!”
BW: A clover?
CP: Why not? No crime to pick one. Besides, you’re more beautiful than a flower, my princess. I can search for a four-leaf clover, but that might get us to Ep 78 before I find one. Hah!
CP touches tip of BW’s nose with clover, then lightly brushes BW’s lips with it, back and forth, back and forth, back…and…forth… In slow mo, they lean towards each other. Her lips half open, BW ‘s eyes start to close… (Aside: Dramabliss holds her breath…)
Suddenly, BW opens wide her eyes, and (again, a la Lee Seol) throws herself at CP, wraps arms around his neck, and goes unerringly for his mouth.
[ Call-outs pop on screen. BW’s call-out: “I need romance!” CP’s call-out: “Oh, my lady!” ]
And THEY KISS. (Aside: Dramabliss breathes again.)
[ Camera cuts to extreme close-up of kiss, then pans around kissing couple ]
[ Sound track: “Beethoven Virus Symphony No. 5” soaring to a crescendo ]
Wheww! No playful kiss that. Nope, no, siree! Jo Guk and Shin Mi Rae, hang your head in shame.
[Off camera, sound of commotion]
PD (off camera, shouts frantically):
“Cut! You’re going off script! Hey, do you think this is Myung Wol, the Spy? Cut, I say! Cut! Cut! “
[ Cameras freeze ]
PD (still off camera, voice becomes less frantic but still excited)
“Hot damn! A capital scandal, for sure, but what the heck. This can get us into national drama territory. Script, into the trash bin! Cameras, keep rolling!”
[ Cameras grind again, record kiss in various angles and shots ]
[ Sound track: Beethoven Virus Symphony No. 5 fades out, replaced by “Only You” by Elvis Presley ]
Omo! Omo! And THEY CONTINUE TO KISSSSSSSSSS…
Ice cream kiss? Cola kiss? Never saw. Never heard. Bench kiss is best kiss. In kdramaland. Ever. You say chemistry? I say spontaneous combustion!
(Aside: Jomo, you can now end that debate in Yobosayo.)
[ Fade out ]

Ooh, here it is.
I see. It was supposed to be a birth secret, very hush hush matter. His lineage is closer to the British Royalty though. His mother is 4th cousins with the Queen, 1000 episodes removed.
Aha, now that you’ve outed the secret, let it not be said that CP only belongs to the mercantile class. He has blue blood after all, even if only a teeny-weeny drop.
Newly-hired scriptwriter, take note. That can be a plot point further down out drama, don’t you think? Maybe, ah, Episode 11?
…vaguely familiar… hehe.

Yak I think I watched too many. Need a life definitely!
Hi, Shay, Fan, and all those who answer the quiz:
I was actually thinking of commissioning The Kidnappers to deliver the hottie(s) of your choice to your doorsteps but they forswore any fangirling activities this week.
Will think of something. I always have a runaway Plan B on the side, y’know.
No problem. I already gave myself awards – watching Kiyoung’s singing (YFFM).

Awesome

Kamsa hamnida, Shiku!
LOLS love this one dramabliss!

Kamsa hamnida, Nonski! Happy you like it.
dramabliss, I don’t have time to do the quiz (grr, argh, lunch hour/busy work week…) but this was so awesome! Like I am in awe. How long did this take?! Did you do this off the top of your head? Which would be even cooler. Or did you research? Omigosh, all the time you would have had to put in!
Thank you so much for sharing
I was starting with the limerick when the idea hit me to use kdrama titles in the line. Then it got longer and longer. First I used titles off the top of my head that fit the storyline. I pretty much finished the main storyline early.
Got warmer as I went on, so I did a bit of research to include more titles.
The rundown:
There are more than 60 titles in there. About 30% of those I’ve fully watched or am watching; another 30% I have partially watched or currently downloading; the rest I’ve read the recaps/reviews/summaries of. Some I plan to watch. Some I definitely do not have plans of watching.
All in all, maybe 20 hours of work. Which, of course, pushed back further my backlog at work. But no regrets. At. all.
What’s this news I hear about No Min Woo in “talks” of being in Full House 2?
No, scratch that. There will be a Full House 2???
I blame Full House for making me an addict so if there’s a sequel then I’m absolutely going to be excited. Bring on the senseless shouting, obsessive cleaning and endless enamel-destroying teeth brushing!! Yep.
Oh dear… I can’t stay too long. It’s been such a hectic week and tiring day. I’m resisting the seductive calls of my bed, but its beckoning is so irresistible.
Anyway, Happy OT, friends
happy ot your royal highness. have a good weekend.
You too, aejaebeenwhy!
Interesting name BTW
LOL! Bunny! You keep on transforming.
Happy Friday, bunny & ricky!
I knew that I was our Jumma Bunny!
Nice to have unofficial confirmation.
Hihi Izzie! *hugs!*
I am excited to hear NMW might be in FH2.. love him…. now they need to bring Shin Mina back.. so they can be together again and be the OTP.
I disagree. I think shin mina needs to be with someone just a little less attractive than she is. no min woo is waaaay too attractive for her, he makes her look plain.
NMW and Shin Mina would be squee inducing awesome! But what would the plot of the sequel be?
I really hope that it will be a complete different story.. don’t see how they can extend the 1st FH…. may be they should not call it full house at all.
Half-full House?
I agree with you Kaleido.
I don’t even know why they try to make a FH2, when they are so many dramas under similar premises ( boy-girl force to live together and faking a marriage contract to end up falling inlove)
Maybe they want to attract all of us FH lovers, but they can do the same with an original idea that has those ingridients.
I hope I’m making sense
I would to see NMW act in a rom-com. He has a lot of potential. He was good in Rock Rock Rock.
I agree.. NMW has only been 2nd lead except Rock Rock Rock.. and he has so much talent and potential… he needs something to make him shine… watching him in Midas was just wasted….. he needs good role.. and a rom-com might just be the thing for him.
No Min Woo! Definitely rom com. Perhaps even something where he gets to sing, cause he’s a talented musician as well. Bah, idol dramas are my Achilles’ heel, so No Min Woo in one… well… yeah.
If he ever played the lead in a drama, I might just die of heart attack. The man is too sexy to be allowed outside a bounded perimeter.
But it would be a happy death.
I want to see him with philip hair again!!!!
he definitely has potential. you see glimpses of it. I think his humor is deadpan and I love that kind of humor!
Yup, the one thing I can remember from Full House is the teeth brushing. Think of the enormous amount of toothpaste they consumed.
Sometimes I even think of going through the episodes to count how many times they brushed their teeth. Good thing I restrained myself. Otherwise, that fanfic would never be written.
I did feel that they stretched out the bickering too long. The drama could have done as well with four episodes less.
It’s amazing to watch how many times they brush their teeth in that drama. I’ll make it a resolution to count how many times it happened.
What’s funny though, is when they bicker AND brush at the same time!
Will there ever be a FH2??…,they’ve been teasing us with this forever..at least 2 yrs now
I saw it on the future projects on wths2 list.
Happy OT, YRH! I know nothing of this Full House (unless it stars the Olsen twins in their acting debut) but if it makes you happy it can’t be that bad, right?
I haven’t seen full house either. I saw 1 episode I think. But when they were introducing the ex-girlfriend or whatever I was soo bored out of my mind.
I also know nothing of this Full House (well I know Rain was here) but for some reason I don’t feel like watching it.
CMR, Bunny and Shiku,
I’m a sucker for contract relationship. It was this drama that made me crazy about dramas with contract relationships. I wouldn’t say that it’s as good as some of the dramas, like say, Best Love, but it made me addicted.
I was young, not exactly well-versed in my knowledge of Dramaland and was easily influenced by peer pressure. I’m glad my friend made me watch Full House though. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t even be here
So FH has a special spot in my heart, next to Delighful Girl Choon Hyang.
How popular was that series that they would make a faux part deux?
So confused…Not the same cast.. Is it just so they can use the same house?
Any co-habitation rom-com is a FH already. Just be honest and give it another name.
I think they simply want to capitalize on the popularity of the drama, Jomo.
I’m interested to see if they have some fresh ideas. Sequels tend to not work as well as the original, as we sometimes observe.
I had never noticed the enamel-destroy teeth brushing! I need to watch Full House again to check it out!
Oh, no! Now you’re going to be obsessed about the dental aspects of the drama. I’m sorry.
Full House 2 and Coffee Prince 2. When will these happen? (can’t wait.)
Hear, hear
I’ll join you in gleeful anticipation, izzie!
To: Protect The Boss
Where ever you’re located
From: Me
Dear JaeJoong,
First, let me tell you how much I loved your new “do” that we saw at the end of episode 6. Did you take a styling page from your BFF, Yoochun? He did the same thing over at Miss Ripley, and you BOTH look adorable!
Secondly, if your leading lady turns down your request of being your girlfriend, don’t worry. I will step in and fulfill your desires. All of them.
Generally, I like my arm candy pretty, but not prettier than me.
In your case, I’ll make an exception. Really.
Call me.
P.S. Happy Friday, all!
Now you just need to send some expensive BB Cream to seal the deal, cynthia.
LOL – BB cream… I googled it when I was watching PTB last night.
Hah! True, that!
Re: your comment up-thread about Full House 2 – I’d like to see a sequel (paving the way for a City Hunter 2?!) – how much you wanna bet that the only plot point in common with the original will be the actual house? Which really wouldn’t bother me – there were times during FH when the plot was lagging that I was more fascinated with the house’s architecture and front elevation. But then Rain and Song would show up again and my distraction would end…
laughed so much at the BB cream scene.
it’s open thread day again? omgeeezzz… hahaha.
im just gonna read and comment… i havent done any kdrama duties this week thanks to spy myung wol’s weekend scandal. LOL. glad that’s over…
maybe i’ll just comment on that one hahaha…
i really find it hard to get mad at han ye seul unlike what I felt when lee da hae dropped EOE and even Coffee(atleast kim soyeon go the job! lol)… maybe it’s because I have loved her in WISFC and even loved her more in Spy… Han Ye Seul did what she think she had to do… i think she had enough of the stress and pressure she had because of the schedule and I think she thinks she’s better off running away than blow up/scream in one of their working days… that would be more scandalous! She returned and apologized. Everything is well.
I think this scandal put the drama on a positive light, increase in drama ratings and even the plot took a heightened turn of events which I think was better than what they had planned(preview scripts, thank you very much)… i havent watched the episode yet but from the recap of DRAMABEANS(thank you!) it turned out pretty well…
to end this sorta rant/spazz… i’m just so happy that HYS returned and the drama is going to end with the same faces of characters hahaha.
1N2D is ending in 6 months. Why do I feel like my world is crumbling down on me? Totally heartbroken and in disbelief.
I conquer its…totally sad. Like loosing a neighbors puppy because they are moving to a town across the country.
Protect the Boss is too awesome. Highly recommend!
The characters are just delightful. The grandmother-father-son interactions are pure hilarity.
Ji-sung is adorable.
Choi Kang-hee is so funny.
Jae-joong is too pretty.
Wang Ji-hae is precious.
PTB is incredibly refreshing and a blast to watch. Love it to pieces!
First time I can recall, where I don’t hate the second female lead.
So many great scenes to rewind (multiple times) as I clutch my stomach from laughing too hard. If I absolutely had to rank it, PTB trumps SoAW, despite being in a separate genre. I like how it puts an atypical spin on boss-secretary and chaebol family relationships.
A lot of times the parent storyline in a drama can drag things down, but not here.
Ji-sung’s father: “MOOOOOOOMMM!”
Ah, all these little boys trapped in adult bodies.
Happy OThreading, Tomo!
Love PTB to pieces myself. Agree with all the points you mentioned. In addition, I have a special tendresse for Ji Sung.
Anyway, this is one drama that leaves me with aching smile/laugh muscles at the end of each episode.
Still have to watch (waiting for subbed versions) the episodes aired this week so for some chuckles, I go back to the image of Ji Heon protesting in horror when his father hit and tore the Eun Seol cutout: “Abuuujjiiiiii!!!” and his taping the torn parts of the cut-out.
I can’t wait to watch Ep5 where where he throws darts at the cut-out but later puts a band-aid on all the spots he hit (as per AKP recap). That should be capital hilarity!
I
Thanks, dramabliss!
This is my first time on the OT, but I couldn’t hold in my adoration of PTB and since there are no PTB recaps in which I can gush, I came here.
This is actually also my first time seeing Ji-sung in a drama. And already I can’t get enough of him. Friends have recommended Save the Last Dance for Me, so I may give that a go when I get a chance. Would you recommend any of his projects in particular?
You’re in for a treat if you haven’t seen this week’s episodes yet. Seeing JH tenderly place band-aids on the holes from his darts made me melt inside a bit. I love that from what I can tell so far, I’m not seeing recycled bits of stories from dramas past.
Happy Friday, all!
He just finished Royal Family – you might try that one.
Also, check out Running Man – he was on there with his PtB leading lady! It was a riot!
tomo you can find recaps in other sites, I belive koala is doing them. Though she might take a week of vacation
http://koalasplayground.com/
That is where I get my PTB recaps
First time I can recall, where I don’t hate the second female lead
I’m just relieved Wang Ji Hye gets to be 3-d and funny in this, I felt rather sorry for her as a comedic actress in Personal Taste.
I agree, she is hilarious. I didn’t watch PT, just read the recaps so I don’t hate In-Hee as much as some people do. But, Wang-Ji’s Na Yoon has totally made me forgive her In-Hee. She’ adorable.
I have seen PT but I don’t think it was synchronous with the recaps here on DB, and so I didn’t get caught up in InHee Bot Hatred so much.
I mostly recall Han Chang Ryul’s techni-color wardrobe
all the casts still trap in the children mentality. lol. na yoon is so frikkin funny and 4d. why she has to stick the ice cream in the butt area. muahaha.. and the father is definitely the best chaebol’s father of all time. many fave moments
I re-wound that scene 3-4 times.
It was the episode that clinched my love for the drama.
Na-yoon is so petty, immature and haughty, but seeing her insecurities, I can’t hate her because she’s not innately evil.
He is also my fave Chaebol father. The ice cream scene was hilarious
love the scene when he confessed too! sooo hilarious! and when he threatened her by not wanting to go to work and after the kiss, he was scared of her and apologized, omg i couldnt stop laughing. i think if its in the hands of other actors, this character might possibly annoy me to death but jisung is such a great actor seriously! i keep being amazed. his JH is so funny and adorable.
but seriously, with 6 episodes now, this drama just feel completely like a comic. the characters are funny, cute and totally unrealistic. or maybe should i say, very original from what i’ve seen in kdramas. like you said, JH’s family is the best chaebol family ever!i hope his father doesnt turn out like the typical dad when he finds out his son is in love with ES and try to separate them.
Definitely true. There is an abundance of reasons why each of the four main characters would grate on my nerves in the hands of different actors, but all of them do a superb job. Especially Ji-sung! I love him, ahjumma perm and all!
I love that scene after the kiss too. It was so fast, the moment they broke apart, he was on his knees, rubbing his hands together in apology – half of it probably because he was scared for his life after stealing that kiss. I love how Eun Seol pointed out that stealing a kiss like that is similar to what that groper did on the train. Ji Sung is just amazing!
I love PTB to pieces too! I’ve just been rewatching the scenes over and over again until the next episodes come out. I love all the characters so much, especially the crazy Cha Ji Heon and level-headed, tough Noh Eun Seol. And I love not having to hate the second female lead and I love feeling like I can cheer for her to never give up and do well! That’s right, all you other writers out there, you can make the second female lead 3-dimensional and adorkable and the OTP won’t be in any danger. It is such a feel-good drama because I know in the end, not only will Ji Heon and Eun Seol get paired off, but Ji Heon will have finally grown up to be a good leader and Eun Seol will be recognized for her work.
I’m really enjoying it. I like watching Ji Sung’s face as he acts. Super nuanced and expressive.
Happy Fridy everyone!
……. and that’s it! No craziness, no fangirling and definitely no planning kidnappings! I am going to be good today!!
Happy Friday, Viola!
I would want to be good today, but the dark side seems so much interesting, you know.
back!
Happy Friday too, Viola! *HUGS*
“No craziness, no fangirling and definitely no planning kidnappings! I am going to be good today!”
Does Siwon have something to do with it?
Darling Izzie Star,
“You may very well think so, but I could not possibly comment.”
Siwon must be standing right next to you as you were typing, no?
Viola I just wanted you to know that I am going to KILL your brother-in-law. I had an awesome (albeit PG-13) dream about Lee Min-Holy Shit last night and I woke up smiling and Mr. Lahlita was staring at me all funny when I woke up. He asked what I was dreaming about, and I went into graphic detail about me and Min-ho hanging out in a meadow, giving each other back-hugs and noozles and kissing occasionally. Mr. Lahlita looked totally incredulous, and I actually thought to myself, “Oh, yeah, here it comes. My beautiful stud is going to shove me back on the bed and make me forget my own name, let alone Lee Min-ho, and it’s going to be SO AWESOME” and I was all excited about early-mornin’ romance novelin’.
THAT FOOL, gave me a long look and then burst out laughing.
Lahlita: “What’s so funny?”
Mr. L: “BWAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!”
Lahlita: “What the FIZZUCK is so funny???”
Mr. L: “That is THE lamest dream I have ever heard. You mean to tell me that you had Lee Min-ho in your dreams, and that’s all you did? I really have ruined you for all other men.”
Lahlita: “Shut up! It was totally hot!”
Mr. L: “It was Totally NOT, more like. I just won’t tell you about my dreams starring Miranda Kerr. Unlike you, I know what to do in a fantasy. She might be an Angel, but she’s a bad, bad girl.”
Lahlita: GAH??? WHAT!?! *Whips up pillow and smacks boy in the face*
Mr. L: *lifts head out from under The Pillow of Lahlita’s Wrath* “Tee hee heeee!”
Ugh. It’s never like it is in the romance novels, is it? If I didn’t love him so much, I’d murder him. I still might. But what this means is that apparently Lee Min-ho and I fail at being hot, so I’m going to have to borrow !SIWON™ for a few nights, m’keh?
;D Thxbai.
Hmm, maybe Siwon’s !SIWON™ trademark should be italicized and bolded. I’m new at this. What think you?
Thanks Lahlita for making me laugh so hard that I feel relieve there was nobody around to accuse me of being crazy.
No problem, Zgznoona!
My Fail is your WIN!
OI!!! No borrowing! You handed over FULL rights to the !Siwon trademark and all it entails!! !Siwon is the trademark of Viola!! Loook what you did!! I promised to be good and not fangirl, but you made me go back to the crazy possessive mode!
Speaking of which, did you see the link I sent you?
And yes, !Siwon should be bolded and italicized!
Yes, I got the link you sent me, and I giggled muchly. I laughed a lot. I can’t talk about it without outing you to the Open Thread, so I’ll just say that it was great. Hilariousityness.
dude, that is so so gut bustingly funny!! Ah Lahlita, you lucky lucky girl, I am glad you found someone that wonderful.
I think having him in your life beats frolicking with Lee Min Ho in a flowery meadow (snicker) any day. Did LMH burst into song, joined by harmonizing bunnies and squirrels by any chance in said meadow?
Quit snickering!
FROLICKING IN A MEADOW IS TOTALLY HOTTTT!!!
Ah, you young people just don’t understand romance. But no, there were no bunnies and squirrels. Just Me and My Min-ho being cute. I don’t remember much of it, but there was back-hugging and noozling. Wow … that really was the lamest dream ever. Le sigh.
frolicking in the meadow makes you hot, you mean. all that jiggling and wriggling.
You had LMH and all you did was just frolick?
@aejaebeenwhy Heh, shut up.
@Shiku You shut up too.
LOL! You two are too cute!
Mr.L just doesn’t seem to understand the power of back-hugs! Next time, you should fib a little to get your “early-mornin’ romance novelin’”!!
Happy Friday Viola!
*HUGS*
…….are you sure that you’ll be good?
awwww *HUGS back* thank you, mcaldrama!
I WAS sure I was going to be good, but then Lahlita, otherwise known as That Evil Girl came along, and I can’t promise anymore!
Are you new to OT? Did you have your welcome to the OT party yet, if not..WELCOME!!! *sprays silly strings of happiness*
Dude, don’t blame your inability to hold back on me! It’s not my fault that you have no self-control. Poor Siwon.
Happy Friday, Viola darling! (I feel like I should be doing air-kisses whenever I call you darling, darling. lol!)
Are unplanned kidnappings off the list, too?
Prindy, love! *kiss* *kiss* !!
nope unplanned kidnappings are not off the list!
YES! *sets out traps for unsuspecting hot actors*
These don’t count as planned, do they?
jb, gf, any chance of having recaps on princess’s man or a review on your thoughts so far if youre watching? id love to hear what you have to say
Oh poor Ryu,
She loves Kang Woo,
Now what are you gonna do?
More frustrated push ups?
(Hopefully) semi-naked chin ups?
Oh please, PLEASE do
Or you could shower-brood too.
Hear hear! Hopefully the drama gods are listening.
Hey, I love Sweet Darlin’! My favorite She & Him track. Zooey is ma girl
Anyways… How sad is it that 1N2D is ending in 6 months! :’( Tonight there’s supposed to be 1N2D airing on KBS World but no… I feel like 1N2D is taken away from me little by little. I don’t know what to do :’(
On the bright side, today is Friday! Yay! I have a two week holiday so I’m happy for that at least.
Saddened by the imminent end of 1N2D; the best variety show I’ve ever watched in any language.
Tears will flow in the final ep, for sure.
Here’s to new beginnings, though!
kbs is really down on their luck for this period
I’m sad about the news that 1N2D will only be until feb 2012. KBS said that it was a mutual decision between the members to end it together than leave the show 1 by 1.
KBS, pls do something!! I will surely miss their dorkiness.
Hi y’all.
Enjoyed watching Warrior Baek Dong Soo this week to fill in the gaps.
Then I got thinking we have all these good looking males in this drama but where’s the sex? Sure BDS is all googly eyed over the ‘nun’ but is that it?! Don’t they want some? Are these guys in the monks’ group?
I caught the tail end of Sungkyunkwan Scandal on the TV the other night and it brought home how different the approaches are.
you’re funny. But I can see why you might expect some sexy times. I certainly do now that I think about it but I think the dong soo’s character is too goofy.
There’s sex.
But, it’s sageuk sex. Never shown, always implied.
The sexiest that WBDS is going to get has already been shown – when tattooed girl showed her naked back for map-maker-boy.
“Are these guys in the monks’ group? ”
Haven’t you seen Cho Rip and Dong Soo cuddle while they’re sleeping? You know Dong Soo tapped him some Yeo Woon after they were done swinging their sticks.
1n2d is ending in 6 months and I can’t sleep at all.. This is the my worst friday this month. =(
I Know, just when I had found something that just makes me smile all week long, it’s taken away….
It’s my birthday today!!! And then I just read that 1n2d is ending, what a bummer ><
yeah kinda sucks hey but on the bright side it’s your birthday. Happy Birthday, be blessed and may you be showered with happiness all your life:-)
Thank you
Awww…Happy Birthday anyway, Jenny!
Thank you ^^
happy birthday jenny! I hope that 1n2days ending means that we’ll see the guys together in a similar setting. Maybe 2 nights 3 days or something.
Happy B-day Jenny. Have a great day!!
Lest find consolation in the fact that there are still 6 more months of laughs before we have to say good bye.
Feliz cumpleaños! Happy Birthday, Jenny!
Treat yourself to a bowl of miyukguk ala Korean style.
Happy Friday/Saturday everyone!
Kinda sad that YFFM is over. It was such a sweet story, that was simply put to us as viewers and never required me to strain my brain but had me just roll with it and enjoy the sweetness of young love.
As for SOAW, wow! The tango….I can’t even describe what I thought of it. The rawness that was there. It was so beautiful yet darkly sensual…I think I forgot to expel the air in my lungs and then after it was over I had this stupid grin on my face,
Looking forward to Can’t Lose. Really hoping it’ll be good and light. But I do adore PTB. Oh it’s just so hilarious and at the same time endearing.
Hello! *HUGS to all!*
Happy Friday/Saturday!
My eyes are very tired today, so no OT for now! I don’t want to risk getting a migrane.
I hope you all have fun playing! I’ll check back later when they feel better.
Happy Friday too, MJP!
*HUGS*
Try to nap so your eyes would feel better quickly.
Thanks ★ iZzie ★!
*Receives HUGS*
I notice you’re feeling like a Star today!
I’m going to take a nap now and MJP Hubby is going to try to come home from work. It will take him an hour to an hour and 1/2 to get here. So Wee MJP will be left up to his own devices for that time.
He’s already gotten this type of playdough/bouncing foamy putty, but not playdough on his shirt this morning. We are talking the size of a man’s fist! We just bought the stuff last night and it was immediately bounced onto the brown carpet in two places (not sure if it was Wee MJP or MJP Hubby who did it.
)
No clue on how I’m gonna get that out of the shirt or the carpet. It’s almost like a form of stick-tack that you use for posters on your walls.
I must cut myself off now and get some rest. Thanks for all the love!
I hope you’ve gotten a good rest by the time you read this.
Cute Lil Wee MJP! Must be a very active little kid. LOL! You can’t be wrong to suspect MJP Hubby for the carpet marks, coz a toddler’s playfulness is infectious. It brings out the kid within.
As for removing playdough from the carpet… just let it dry completely and then remove it later with a stiff brush. I also read somewhere in the internet that you can also try putting a moist cloth over the stain and gently iron the cloth with a semi-hot pressing iron to make the dough stick to the cloth. I haven’t tried it, so I’m a bit skeptical about the second one. Goodluck!
Thanks Izzie!
*shudders* hard playdough on carpet is murder on your feet. Good luck getting it out, MJP unnie. Izzie Star’s stiff brush idea sounds like a good one.
*hugs*
Hope you feel better soon. Migraines, even just looming ones are awful.
Silver! Hi!
*Receives HUGS gratefully*
Thanks for your kind words. Say, I left you a comment on your recap. I hope you read it knowing it was written with good intentions. I went anonymous just incase you have some fans who might wanna scalp me!
I really, really love your writing though. Now we just gotta get you a fan base! It’s growing already though!
I recognized you right away
I think you are in no danger of being scalped, and I am very, VERY grateful for any suggestions. And your suggestions are things I thought of myself, it’s just… applying self censorship is haaaaard! Especially with a show as pretty looking at this. I swear, the cinematography of YFFM is too brilliant for words.
But most importantly *squee*! I’m so glad you enjoy my writing
Thank you for your kind words and your imput, especially knowing that you took the time to do it when you weren’t feeling well. *hugs lots*
Silver!
Since that one YFFM/Heartstrings is over, what do you plan on doing now? Will you continue recapping?
How are you feeling? All better?
I think I will keep recapping, yes. I want to get some feature film reviews in there as well.
The problem is I’m not sure which drama to pick up next. I’m going to stick with Birdie Buddy and see how it goes, but the episodes are too short to warrant an episode-by-episode recap so I think I’ll just do overviews every now and again when stuff adds up.
As for the rest, I am checking out Protect the Boss and so far it’s a big ball of lovable crazy, so I plan to write something about it and then see if I can keep recapping PTB or if, instead I’m going to like Can’t Lose better. Thousand Day Promise was suggested by someone on my blog but that’s still far away(ish). Hmmm… maybe Poseidon when it starts? There’s a lot to choose from but basically, it’ll come down to whichever really grabs my heart.
Any suggestions? I’d appreciate the input
Oh, I was also thinking about starting a Vintage Drama recap thingy – if I were to choose one to do first it would probably be Goong because it would be a fun way to keep up with the Lee Shin trend, haha
Silver,
Wow! You do have lots of really good ideas!!! I am totally impressed.
As far as ideas that depends on what is coming up next.
Can’t Lose follows Heartstrings/YFFM.
A Thousand Day’s Promise follows WBDS.
Poseidon is slated to air its first episode on September 19 (Per JB).
Wiki d-addicts has a list of all the information you could want regarding what’s coming.
http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Upcoming_KDrama
Silver!
Ditto MJP’s comments – your recaps of YFFM were really good, a nice balance of humor, snark and thoughtfulness plus an accurate recap. They add up to enjoyable reads!
My two cents? The new Choi Ji-woo rom/com. It has a good chance of being excellent, along with it being a fresh take on CJW’s turn on the rom/com side of the tracks.
The only thing I would hope NOT to see? A double-up of the same drama recaps for DB and your site. There’s certainly going to be enough gold to go around with the remainder of this season.
MJP …It must be the weather….I woke up with one today, too. Fortunately, it was shortlived (mine are generally not severe…just the visuals make it hard to do anything….couldn’t watch my morning drama fix). And my baby is 14, so she’s usually ok when left to her own devices. Just messy.
Hope you feel better soon!
Shel, *HUGS*
Glad to hear that you are feeling better. I am too now. I got some rest, but the eyes are still not 100% so I’m gonna take it easy and not read all the posts.
Oh MJP unnie! *many, many HUGS…and a cold compress*
Feel better, unnie.
CMR! *HUGS, HUGS, and Receives HUGS*
Really, a cold compress will help? I’ll try it! Thanks!
MJP unnie, when my headache is an eye-ache sort of thing, a cold compress helps them to feel better. Although, honestly, I mentioned the cold compress b/c it’s an old-fashion-y thing I’ve read about in books and such: the lady or daughter of the house has a headache…someone makes a cold compress and grabs the laudenum
Feel better.
I always wondered what the possible purpose is for us to experience debilitating pain other than to drop everything in your life so you can focus on YOU.
We will be here somewhere when you get back.
See you later, alligator!
*HUGS* Jomo and Thanks!
I’ll talk more when I am rested!
Just wanted to tell you that they didn’t die in royal family ( after watching the last episode the 4th time!) Ji sung-i says something to the effect of how about you follow me wherever I want to go. My sister on the other hand who has only seen it once is fuming and doesn’t believe me when I tell her they’re really fine.
Rest up and come play later.
Bunny Love, *HUGS*
It’s a good thing that I read Ricky TRH’s post to find out that you are going under another name this week. You sure are keeping us all on our toes. It took me a bit to catch on to it. ajbny!
I’m glad that they didn’t die. It sure was a confusing ending.
Say, forgive my addled brain, but who is your current Kactor love?
*HUGS* MJP, darling! I hope you have a wonderful rest!
Viola Dahling! *Receives HUGS and HUGS back*
After our Siwon pics this week in the other DB article, I must have read something about the Super Junior Full House show done in 2006, because I started watching it this week. I finished up to Episode 9. Those guys sure are funny. Makes me wonder if they are always pulling pranks on each other, or if it was all for the show.
Oh, my poor MJP!
Here are some cucumber eye pads to relieve the strain.
HUGS! HUGS! HUGS!
Dramabliss, *Receives HUGS! HUGS! HUGS! and HUGS back*
*Gratefully takes cucumber eye pads and places them on eyes.*
Oh, thank you ever so much for the eye pads.
Hi MJP I hope you feel better
Thanks Shiku! *HUGS*
Happy Friday to all….
Saw “Musa” last night (finally got the DVD from Netflix) and it was amazing. So now am catching up on all Jung Woo-sung films and drama…:))
Now am excited about Padam Padam…
Hi hi everyone. This might be a short post from me unless someone here is IT savvy?
I think my Firewall or the hotel Firewall is blocking a lot of K drama sites. It is taking me 5min to load a DB page so there goes all hope of writing on this OT.
I can’t play a single viki video and it is blocking semi-fly’s account so I can’t get the torrents link and MU files were taking 14hrs to load.I switched hotel and now it’s only taking 4hrs @__@ when it usually takes 15min.
Sigh, guess I will have a real holiday and have no K drama.
However have anyone of you seen SOAW ep 9 preview?
I have and it’s daebak
what kind of ridiculous, useless, classless, insensitive hotel is this!
For realz….geez. Tell us the chain and we’ll boycott them.
Scene: Two Years Ago at Monthly Girlfriends’ Luncheon
Leonardswench (LW from here on in): I’ve got to go, so much to do today.
MR (bff drama coach): Oh, what’s up today?
LW: Re-writes, you know, stuff like that. (Texting under table to husband to see if the yesasia.com box has arrived.)
MR: Which work?
LW: Oh … (totally distracted and trying not to squee that 4 k-dramas have just arrived on her doorstep) … uhm, that one about that guy and girl.
MR: What’s up with you, the last year?
LW: I’m just very busy, as you know.
MR: No, no. something is different. Out with it.
LW: well, you know how I review Asian movies and television for the writer’s forum?
MR: So?
LW: I kind of got sucked in a little bit, I’m totally LOVIN’ it.
MR: Do you even understand the languages?
LW: Yes.
MR: What do you like about them?
LW: Everything.
MR: Well, I may have to watch one sometime.
LW: TOtally, i gotta go. Love you, hon. Bye. (Kisses and hugs and flees restaurant without backward glance.)
Scene: One Year Ago at Shakespeare Festival Summer Wrap Party
MR: Still on those Korean soap operas?
LW: They are called k-dramas, and they are not soap operas.
MR: How many do you own now?
LW: a couple dozen (hand over mouth to muffle answer)
MR: I’ve got to see one of these one day and find out what is wrong with you. (Laughs heartily.)
LW: Yeah, you’ll have to do that. (Laughs weakly.)
MR’s daughter (new character): I’d like to see one, can you pull it up on my laptop?
LW: Sure, honey, let me start you on You’re Beautiful.
(a year passes, we start a facebook group for teen girls who are into k-dramas)
Last week
MR: Alright, it’s my last week of vacation before school starts back up, bring me one of those “HOT MESSES”.
LW: Sure, I just happen to have Boys Over Flowers in the van.
a week of silence
two days ago
MR’s daughter via FB: here are six videos of mom watching BOF, she’s SSSSSOOOOOO into it!
yesterday
MR’s daughter via text: MOM JUST BOUGHT BOF from AMAZON OMGGGG SHE’S COMPLETELY TAKEN WITH JUMP-YO!!!!!
(Jump-yo because MR didn’t have her glasses on during the first few minutes he was on screen, saw the name, mispronounced it, and now it has stuck. Lee Min Ho is JUMP-YO.)
Today
via phone call LW placed to MR: what did you do yesterday?
MR: oh, the usual, busy day.
LW: anything new or exciting?
MR: open house at the school
LW: How’s the BOF watching going?
MR: fine
LW: so ……. nothing special there, then?
LLLLLLLOOOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGGGG silence
MR: Those brats told you, didn’t they? I told them not to!!
LW: laughing hysterically — GOT YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
This whole story is outstanding, but I have to say that
the JUMP-YO detail is the best thing ever.
There may need to be a rap/ome in the future…going off to rhyme…
first: lol at JUMP-YO. Best nickname ever!
then:
OMG! this is so cute! It’s just like me and my sister, except that i was the MR equivalent. I used to wonder why my sister was so crazed about K-dramas. One “My girl” later i realized why. Now I eat, sleep and sleep-talk K-Dramas. a few days ago, i dreamt that Chun (an assassin from the drama WBDS) went around killing all my best friends. And i kept wondering (in my dream) why not me? Why was he ignoring me?
Ok. Now i know how to get my friends addicted. You’re beautiful and BOF it is. Thanks for the tip
Bahahaha! Good job LW in converting more to KDramas!
That is the BEST! Omigosh, two years of perseverance, help from the Daughter and never giving up on the power of dramas to overcome awkward conversations totally paid off! Too funny.
Hah! Good one! It’s funny how most of the non-watchers are all so “uppity” with the ‘tude towards K-drama, until they’re hooked well and good and begging for a seat on the drama bus.
and begging for a seat on the drama bus.
LOL!
LW, you are indeed a many splendored being. That is such a funny story!
The power of Boys Over Flowers!
This is so funny. I really want to introduce k-dramas to my sisters but am afraid I will get them addicted like me.
I love the open thread, it’s the one place where I don’t just have to talk to myself about Kdrama
Mr Cauliflower Head in Protect the Boss is growing on me, but I’m not sure about the dreads in Birdie Buddy. That hair is like a separate entity.
However, what it does do right – like PtB – is another forthright female protagonist, and a second female lead who isn’t just Bitchy McBitchiness.
Josina –
I am making a prediction for PTB that I want documented.
My guess is there will be a hair-style swap in an upcoming episode.
We will see MW wearing curled hair, and Cauliflower head will be sporting his version of bangs/fringe.
OK, maybe MW won’t go curly, but I do think JH will be desperate enough to keep ES’s attention to copy cat.
I’ll make a note on my To Do/Remember/Someday/OMG Ankle Boots list…..
Your prediction doesn’t seem all that out there for the PtB universe, and truth be told I have no idea what Cauliflower Head usually looks like. I take it it’s not his normal do? Definitely ranks up there on the list of distracting hair.
MW is so delicately pretty I suspect he’s really an elf. I just can’t imagine him doing a tango though.
This is the response to your question about Park Si Yeon in La Dolce Vita.
Yes, she is in it.
It is not easy to watch, but the acting is top notch from everyone. Lee Dong Wook, Jung Bo Suk (from Giant and CYHMH) Park Si Yeon, Jung Gyu Woon(Dr. Champ, Romance Town)
Oh Yun Soo was just OK. She did have to play an emotionally unavailable character so I understand why I didn’t connect that much with her. If someone better were in the role, I would have cried more with her.
Oh right, yes, in one of the other threads (gets confusing).
Dramawiki calls it Bittersweet Life, which I think roughly translates into Dolce Vita.
I’m not much of a melodrama fan (either they’re milking the melo and I feel like causing bodily harm, or I’m hiding behind the sofa because I don’t want anything bad to happen to the poor wee protagonist) and right now I’m taking baby steps with SoaW – but if I get through that unscathed I might give Dolce Vita a go.
What Happened in Bali still seems too ambitious at this stage.
I finally Googled Cauliflower Head sans Cauliflower. I can understand the appeal now
Is anyone watching Birdie Buddy? I managed to marathon all four episodes yesterday. I flew through the episodes! I swear, 45 min v 60 min episodes make a huge difference.
Anyway, I’m really enjoying it. The guy who plays John Lee is beautiful. Also, I’ve always liked inspirational, underdog sports movies. I think that’s what I like about this one. I’m already rooting for UEE’s character. I can’t wait until John Lee coaches her and she gets so good she kicks everyone’s ass at that tournament or whatever!
I just watched the first two episodes, girlatsea – subbed 3 and 4 aren’t available yet in my country – and it’s definitely zippy story-telling.
I was sort of expecting a mess of plot, but it’s actually really coherent, and I do like the emphasis on sports. And it’s not ‘Invincible Lee Pyung Kang’ either.

I know NONE of us would go to such lengths for a little obsession …..
This girl had TONGUE SURGERY so she could speak KOREAN better ……..
Just finished What Happened In Bali (WHIB).
My interest was piqued through sporadic OT WHIB ramblings. I waited for the right mood and now I’m totally lost in the JIS – SHS – HJW – PYJ rectangle. Totally lost and totally missed the first train. I’m standing alone at the platform. My head is spinning from all the jealousies, possibilities, swirling emotions & intense longing from all sides. The chemistry between HJW – JIS makes HJW – HB looks adolescent.
I’ll rewatch WHIB again but now I really need to take a step away from that toxic yet so delicious drama *grappling for the wall*. Me need some light dramas.
Thanks my fellow DBs for recommending it.
Chukayo!
I remember finishing Bail and feeling the same way – bruised and confused.
They say that finishing Bali is like finishing K-drama adolescence: a powerful and painful experience that changes you forever. You never look at dramas again in the same way.
Can you imagine being in the first audience as it aired? We get to marathon in a few days and it still leaves a mark. Living two months of that darkness and pain?
I know people watch and re-watch, but I can’t do that. Not for a while.
JIS floored me. I never thought of him as attractive – although I hear he makes top ten lists all the time – but man, did he live that role. He was unforgettable.
Jeezzz – I was thinking of watching this (it’s in my DramaFever “Q”) but now I’m afraid to….. I hate these dark ending type of dramas.
I guess it won’t be “A Millionaire’s First Love” type of watch, huh? Bali = Happy. No?
Yap JIS is really something, a cut above the rest. He wears the following yet my heart still beats wildly:
1. fugly leopard/tiger prints all over his neck
2. pink flowery shirt mixed with striped blazer
3. backpack ala ninja the teenage mutant / the hunchback
4. flared jeans + white shoes
It’s hard to put him in a clear category. He confuses me: boy, man, metro, sex on legs. If the role had been played by a weaker actor, I would have had the urge to chase him away with a broomstick to get rid of that weak and silly-sissy character. But it’s JIS!
WHIB is the one kdrama that left me with the most pain.
I was emotionally drained and kept asking, like Yoon Kye Sang (he said this in an interview) “Why? Why?” through several days after it ended. It was just so tragic.
After having gone through the dark tragedy of WHIB, the way 49 Days ended wasn’t so painful anymore. And I am already braced for what may happen in Scent of a Woman.
I was just thinking about jb’s comment about Kang Ji-hwan’s recent photo shoot – the chaebol vampire one. I’m surprised that the vampire trend hasn’t hit kdramaland.
Anyone else interested in seeing how well (or horribly) this would go? I hate the trend in the US but I’m fascinated to see how Korea would do a take on it. What do you guys think?
I’m a vampire fanatic (novel’s a vampire one) and I’d love to see the Korean take on it. I wonder if there’s a vampire myth already in Korea. The Chinese version is very different from the Western vampire.
hmm i suppose they have the nine-tailed fox thing… but i don’t know for sure.
i’m wondering too why they didn’t make a vampire drama yet. they could pull that off well with the manliner and the bleached-white skin trend
btw i’m from Transylvania (for real!).
isn’ t there one called franceska or something. It’s pretty frunny if I remember correctly.
Vampire Prosecutor – JB ran a post on this a week or so ago.
They should do a drama version of the manga “Vampire Knight.”
Really? Wow… I majorly missed that post. That should be interesting to see.
I watched a couple of episodes of Franceska… but I had to stop because I couldnt find a site that did all of the episodes.. :*(
It’s funny and i loved what i saw… where i can stream it? i’ll even download it if i can find the subs for it.
A doctor from Transylvania? Cool!
Yeah! I’m waiting for a tango-dancing vampire hero in kdrama-land. My best bet for the role would be Cha Seung Won.
Well, at least the wolf trend has already been answered with the gumiho dramas.
wow that would be awesome! Dokko as a vampire, that’s so cool
i’d also like Jang Geum Seok to be cast. it could be way nicer than the Brad Pitt/Tom Cruise in that 90′s movie. does South korea have an equivalent of New Orleans?
Try ‘Freeze’ with Lee Seo Jin and Park Han Byul – it’s only 5 episodes long and I don’t remember any major chances in the vampire myth, but then I did sort of skim-watch it.
And there’s Hello Franceska and the upcoming Vampire Prosecutor.
happy friday everyone! this is completely random, but since no one around me understands my awe at meeting KIM HANEUL yesterday night i thought i’d share it with you guys!
she was at the marc jacobs fashion show in hk, and I was lucky enough to be one of the people to escort her down from her hotel room to the fashion show. honestly, the camera does not do her justice. she is so much prettier in realife. I was lucky enough to get a photo and an autograph, but too bad i couldn’t speak korean/she couldn’t speak english! anyways, sorry for the randomness of this post, but wanted to share with some people who would understand just how AWESOME it was!
hope everyone has a great weekend!
YOU MET KIM HANEUL?!
I am so happy for you and totally jealous at the same time!
Oh em gee! How cool! Go You!
dude! Awesome!
I am fainting for you now! that’s what is called a wan jon dae bak!
Omg, lucky lucky you! What’s she like in person? I mean, besides her gorgeousness.
Oh, oops, I see you didn’t get the opportunity to talk to her. Language barriers..sigh…
You’re so lucky!!
Hey Guys
Is someone else having problems with the forums of http://www.am-addiction.com ?
The forums are not opening for me
There is a back-up site:
http://amabackup.wordpress.com/
*bows 90 degrees*
Thanks so much Ms. Jomo.
You truly are my life saver. I’ve already offered to name my first born after you. What else do you want?
We are all in this together, sister!
Meanwhile, are you watching SOAW?
I bring this up because there are some big hands in it.
I even got a “most voted” comment talking about LDW’s hands on YT for this clip
—-> A MAJOR SPOILER FOR SOAW EPISODE 8 IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT, DON’T CLICK PEOPLE! <——–
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzGb_cRAkA4
I love this man, but not as much as leonardswench who loves him more and I just do a little, too, sorry can't help it.
by the way, what is am whatsit?
Not yet, I was waiting to finish You’ve fallen for me. I’ll probably start it this weekend. I’ve been lightly reading the recaps, but I’ve been trying to stay spoiler free.
Thanks for the heads up (hands up?). With that info alone you know I’ll be watching
Am addiction the site where can download almost drama ever made.
For the current shows, they have them up as soon as same day of airing, a few hours later.
No wonder its called addiction!!!
Happy Friday everyone! Schmazel needs her drama fix!! It’s been 2 drama-free weeks for me and it’s torture that I haven’t watched PTB past episode 2, the remaining episodes of Heartstrings/YFFM, MWS and SOAW. *cold turkey shivers*
This weekend, I will be marching down to a nearby café to leech off their wifi to get my hands on my crack. So, if you see a girl screaming at her laptop, pleading for the downloads to “hurry up and get to 100% already”, that’ll be me. Yep.
Other than that, I’m so excited for all the Cha Tae Hyun movies coming out. He’s one of my favourite actors!!
Anyway, I hope everyone has a great weekend! I’ve gotta go grab something to eat before my class starts. (I’ll try to sneak in a peep or two later on. Don’t tell my prof. Ahem.)
Annyeong!
Crap, the 1N2D news is true after all. Major bummer. Where will I get my weekly fix of awesome hilarity after it ends?
The Running Man recaps are entertaining so that show seems like a good alternative.
@MJP get well soon hey. Get some well deserved rest. *hugs straight from Africa*
Mcalkdrama, *HUGS*
Thanks! I’m going to bed soon 10 p.m. here now. Feeling better, but not 100% yet.
In Africa huh? I have a friend who moved to South Africa. She works teaching about HIV AIDS.
well i stay in the tiny country to the north of south africa called zimbabwe. is she enjoying it down there?
Yes. She enjoys it. She gets to travel a bit around Africa when she isn’t working or for training at HIV AIDS schools.
Konichiwa !!!! Miss you jomo, MJP , viola, Izzie , so3, samgetang, ricky the royalness!!!! Happy weekend to all of you!!!
With every goodbye you learn.
This poem has really been helping me. I am in day 5 of NC. Best day yet.
After a while you learn the subtle difference
Between holding a hand and chaining a soul,
And you learn that love doesn’t mean leaning
And company doesn’t mean security.
And you begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts
And presents aren’t promises
And you begin to accept your defeats
With your head up and your eyes open
With the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child.
Samsooki’s latest awesome mnikss recap has tugged at my heart with laughter, lessons, memories happy and sad & tears! I have looked at this in a long time… Thought I’d share…
And you learn to build all your roads on today
Because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans
And futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.
After a while you learn…
That even sunshine burns if you get too much.
So you plant your garden and decorate your own soul,
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure…
That you really are strong
And you really do have worth…
And you learn and learn…
With every good-bye you learn.
what a nice poem Qd! can i repost this? can i? can i?
Of course Shay! I didnt write this poem so its not mine to keep!
Its beautiful isnt? I knew this poem long long time ago…..
Qd,
It’s a very nice poem and I am glad that you are learning new things from it.
))))))))))MJP(((((((((((( Learning everyday… sometimes I think ‘I NEVER LEARN’ as I still make mistakes ! lol
Miss you MJP!!!!! Hope you have a great week ahead Lovely!
I forgot!!! Hugs to Sethe too!!!!
Happy Weekend too, QD! *HUGS*
I’m so excited, coz my video editing project is going great and I am able to incorporate a lot of Cha Seung Won in it.
Ding Dong!
That is so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please share with me your work! I would love to see it! I am getting excited too! lol
)))))))))))))))))))izzie(((((((((((((((((((((((
Sure, I will.
But I think this will take me another week or two to finish. BTW, as I’ve mentioned in the last OT, it’s an MV of kdrama actors’ shower/abs scenes. I’m still “hunting” for more videos, which makes me wish I’ve made a shot list of all the dramas I’ve downloaded in the past.
Will post and tell you about it as soon as it’s done.
So as a relative newbie to kdrama obsession i always read up comments that kept mentioning a chap named Won Bin. And i used to wonder who this lad was that pple wud miss him in dramaland and that there ws so much talk of his good looks. So i came upon A Man from Nowhere and decided to have a look. Around midnight i decided to watch the first 30mins. Needless to say when i lifted my eyes frm the screen it was two hours later. Yep nw i get it. I nw understand why there is so much talk abt this man. I evn started raving abt the movie and him on facebook (wel mostly him). And everyone was like ‘wat r u talking abt?’ but i knew i was hooked. Lvd the movie and nw lv Won Bin.
ok you just made me download this movie. looking forward to see it!
hello Plume
Hmmmmmm…hope you enjoy it as much as i did. i may have over done the raving part..
i enjoy a good thriller from time to time
i didn’t have time this week-end to watch it but i just took a peek at the first 10 minutes and so far i’m satisfied, i think it’s a good choice for later in the night.
I watched like the first 15 minutes and then shut it off. I have to be in the mood to watch thing like the man from nowhere.
lol…yeah think so too. i watched with no expectations whatsoever and i enjoyed it plus i was really bored that night so that could be a contributing factor.
So, I just realized that I started watching dramas about a YEAR ago. I remember it being mid-August when I first started watching and falling in love with You’re Beautiful. I can’t believe it’s been a WHOLE YEAR! Time flies.
I’m looking at my drama list now and I’ve watched (or watched 12+ episodes of) about 42 dramas. 42.
Anyway, I’m really glad I got into drama watching. I stressed out so much during my first year of college and I think these dramas are the reason I was able to get through my second year.
I think I’m gonna watch dramas forever because they make me happy.
Wow. I’ve never actually counted but I’ve been watching dramas for about 5 years and I’ve been obsessed for about three and I don’t know if I’ve watched that many. Kudos.
Hey, me too!! August, 2010 was the beginning of my addiction
I have a bit more in my list thou… 90!! O____o
I’ve been a bit busy catching up
Well, happy anniversary to us!
*clinck*
I started last year and you have watched more than me
I did the same thing! Last year, my second year of university, I started watching kdrams and jdoramas, and my list only reaches about 21 (although I’ve watched a ton of other ones that I ended up abandoning halfway through). If I didn’t have these dramas life would be so much more stressful!
IL-BAK!!!!!!
*crawls into a corner and cries*
@Viola
i’ve been around for a couple of weeks nw bt with that i will still gladly receive the second welcoming. Btw a little badness/craziness can be good esp when it comes to kdramaland so i heartily approve of a bit of crazy.
Hello! Happy Friday!
So 1n2d is ending, soo sad
I’m going to miss the awesomeness of it, but at the same time even though there were so many episodes where kang ho dong wasn’t chosen for things, he is quite essential for the show. They’ll end on a super high note
My request for the last episode, play EVERY GAME IMAGINABLE/have the episode take a couple of hours.
Another thing … I am sort of in a drama slump, I know how weird. After I watched coffee prince and dream high back to back (maybe I shouldn’t have watched two epic dramas so close together) nothing else is cutting it. I watched 9 end 2 outs after and it was okay, not my cup of tea. And I tried watching other stuff but I didn’t get past the first or second episode. So in short, has anyone been in the same position as me? Or am I just weird? Also, I was thinking, maybe I force myself to watch a really bad horrible drama, so then everything after would be okay? Iunno
Have you watched My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox (Gumiho)?
It’s funny, charming, sweet and just wonderful. It’d be a good one to boot you out of your summer doldrums..
Yes I have! I lovee lee seung gi! Maybe I should just rewatch some old favorites for a while, lol
when you say horrible do you mean makjang? Makjang is the crazy plot twists we usually get in family/weekend dramas just when we thought everything was resolved. but there is such a thing as makjang done right I recommend Temptation of an Angel. It stars lee so yon and bae soo bin there are 21 episodes. The drama is about a young woman who marries into a rich family to get revenge on them for killing her parents, her husband finds out and subsequently changes his face with plastic surgery to get revenge on her. I recommend this drama because it is great at polarizing you. I started out firmly on the young woman’s side and then switched teams and then switched again. I like this drama because everything is fast paced and all the characters that matter are smart and conniving even the innocent ones. I usually hate to see people act like monsters ( like geum ran in sparkling) but there is no such occasion because these people have a cause and are only going until they each get their revenge.
Or, you should treat yourself to A Man’s story/story of a man/slingshot. Did you like any thriller drama? A man’s story is better than it.
I believe this is the first time I have seen someone mention Temptation of Angel here on DB. I watched it for Han Sang Jin (the 2nd son from Sons of Sol Pharmacy/My Too Perfect Sons) and Bae Soo Bin.
Not sure if you’ve watched it yet, but I recommend Shining Inheritance/Brilliant Inheritance, another Seung Gi drama. It’s got a good plot and exciting too.
I am having the same problem this week I just started watching The Princess’ Man… And got a little obsessed although now I can’t find ep 7 with eng subs anywhere! So I’ve been trying to find something to fill its place but I can’t… So frustrating!
Anyone know where I can watch ep 7 with subs? or Do you know a show that is simiar that I can watch?
hey, so i’ve been following dramabeans for about a year (and i totally love you guys), even though i’ve never actually commented… but i love jdoramas just as much as kdramas and i was wondering if there’s a similar website like this for the japanese version? if anyone knows i’d really appreciate it!
thanks!
xxx
Welcome ksquicci! we’re all happy to see you de-lurked.
Unfortunately, i don’t know of any site that offers up dorama the way drambeans does kdrama!
ah well thanks anyways for responding!!!
(p.s. i love your name ^.^)
CNN/GO Just posted the list “World’s Sexiest Accents,” and I am glad that Spanish got 3th place, since that is my mother tongue, here are the rankings:
12. Argentine— 11. Thai— 10. Trinidadian— 9. Brazilian Portuguese— 8. U.S. Southern— 7. Oxford British— 6. Irish
— 5. Nigerian— 4. Czech— 3. Spanish— 2. French—
1. Italian…..
Congrats to all the “Italianos” in Da House… going!!!!!!
Congrats to all the “5 Romance Language Speakers” Keep Up The Sexy!!!!!!!!
This sort of thing always reminds me of A Fish Called Wanda
My hubby speaks Italian, and my daughter is learning. He lived in Italy back in the 70′s so he’s a little rusty, but we met a man from Verona in line for the Empire State Bldg last May, and he told hubby that his Italian is still pretty good. He goes around singing Italian opera all the time, lol, I love it.
I’m so late for open thread
Anyway, hope everyone has a great weekend with much kdrama viewing!!
Can somebody tell me what PD, FD and CD stands for in the drama making world? Thanks!
I only know PD is program Director
PD = Production Director?
FD = Floor Director?
CD = Creative Director?
FD = Film Director?
Nope. FD is definitely Floor Director. It was mentioned on Running Man, especially since the Makna FD has become his own character during the games
*Maknae FD
PD is producer director
Thank you! I asked that question before then forgot to go back to the thread for the answer
Hooray that someone else was as lost as I was!
Thanks everyone!
