Bachelor’s Veggie Store: Yoon Shi-yoon out, Ji Chang-wook in?

It’s certainly cable’s year, that’s for sure. And it looks like there’s a running theme in this fall’s lineup — TvN’s got Flower Boy Ramyun Shop in the works, and now jTBC is gunning to air its pretty-boy-shop-owner show, Bachelor’s Vegetable Store, in the fall as well. Does every pretty boy get a shop now? What’s next, Beast Man Pet Shop? Sensitive Boy Record Store? Salami Prince: Meat Shop #1?
Don’t get me wrong. I much prefer modest shopkeepers to chaebols and princes, and I’m looking forward to middle class heroes being back in vogue. Former Baker King Yoon Shi-yoon was the name originally attached to the project, but now he’s out, and the actor rumored to fill the shoes of last year’s It Boy is this year’s It Boy, Warrior Baek Dong-soo‘s Ji Chang-wook.
I love him in Baek Dong-soo. I may have watched for Yoo Seung-ho, expecting that the hero would be the boring straight-laced guy, but Ji Chang-wook is so adorable as the the bumbling hero with more bravado than skill, that I ended up loving him more. (Though their love for each other is what I REALLY watch for.)
I hope he takes on the Veggiemart. It’s based on a true story about a young man who opened a small vegetable store in the 90s and went on to become a huge success. The neighborhood ajummas called him “bachelor” because he was a young shopkeeper (not quite old enough to be called “boss” as per usual with ajusshi shopkeepers), and so his store became known as the Bachelor’s Vegetable Store. I think he’d be perfect as the young hard-working entrepreneur who slays the ajummas with his smile. Wouldn’t you line up to buy your produce from this guy?
Bachelor’s Vegetable Store is set to air this November on jTBC, which means Ji Chang-wook would be going straight from the set of Baek Dong-soo to this drama. Whew. No rest for the pretty. Let the battle of the pretty boy shop owners begin.

The titles sound a bit weird, translated at least, but Salami Prince really does have it's own ring to it! There's this family-owned ink and paper store nearby where one of my aunt's lives and there's a pretty boy cashier that I can't help but ogle at. His drama would be "Ink Boy is Open for Business" maybe ? Sometimes I use some extra sheets of paper so I have a reason to go and buy some and see Ink Boy (sorry trees!).
I'm not against this whole Pretty Boy shop theme, can we ever have too much Pretty? I can learn to love more Jung Il Woos :).

awww he's a cutie, but i think he needs to work more on his facial expressions in baek dong soo. they're pretty much all the same

this pretty much says what he does through out the latter half of the show LOL
and yea i watched it for yoo seung ho too and i gotta say. the bad guys are stealing the spotlight for this show!!!

I disagree. Wow...the way he smiles specially as the playful Dongsoo, the tears, the anger & his loving ways with his friends specially with Yun...his emotions on his face are so effective. His facial expression changes according to his mood...happy, dreamy, sad, afraid, anger...what does not change is his being cute.
I've actually taken photos of his different moods onscreen as Dongsoo & Donghae. Amazing changes of his facial mood expressions. Playful or serious...always adorable!

JCW is slaying (heh) his role in WBDS and I'll look forward to seeing him in ANY new project he signs up for - but it will be a sad note when he'll have to get rid of the Mane of Glory... **sniff**

Yay! I'm so happy to see more of Ji Chang wook soon again after WBDS. I found the adorable Ji Chang wook as Dong soo in WBDS then found him as the adorable Donghae in Smile, Donghae.
Look forward to his new drama. He's the one you'd like to have as a son, son in law, boyfriend, husband or friend in the characters he played as Dongsoo & Donghae.

Ummm... So I'm definitely watching this show now. WBDS has made me a devoted Ji Chang Wook fan. Kid's got talent (well I shouldn't say kid, we're the same age) and he's BEAUTIFUL to boot. Charisma? He's got it in spades.
Also, I'm so glad to hear DB discuss WBDS, even in this article. I'm just glad to know that even though there aren't recaps, girlfriday is watching!

Sadly, the Mane of Glory With or Without Extra Spicy Topknot and/or Bun will have to go. I promise to host the memorial service for the fallen pieces of hair when JCW has to hit the stylist chair. :) But dang, I was hoping he'd get some quality rest between WDBS and his next gig. Oh well, might as well have the pretty on our screens 24/7 until he goes off for military service in 4 or 5 years... (SOB!!!)
That picture is from the promo stills from October 2010 for his turn in the musical "Thrill Me," which was about the Leopold and Loeb child killings in the 1930s back in Chicago. Being born and raised there, that mess was always downplayed in our history books because of the salacious nature of the two partners-in-crime. Those two took the meaning of the word 'bromance' literally... and I mean *literally*.
And Salami Prince was the name of my alternative-rock band in college. We didn't go very far... :(

I like him in Warrior Baek Dong Soo. He's good looking etc...However, after completing WBDS, I feel that Yoon Shi Yoon is a better actor. I'd like it better if YSY is in this one but JCW is not a bad choice!
On the other hand, I really can't wait to see another drama with Yoo Seung Ho. Such a cutie!

I'm sorry to hear about his car accident on Feb. 27 or 28th & i hope he's going to be fine, i read that he's got 4 stitches to his forehead & hope he didn't suffer any internal injuries though!
