Full House 2 confirms Noh Min-woo, Hwang Jung-eum

And here I thought this casting rumor was all full of hot air. But as it turns out, Full House 2 is back in the works, and has confirmed its leads after dancing around the topic for ages. They’ll be played by two up-and-comers, Noh Min-woo (Midas, My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho) and Hwang Jung-eum (Can You Hear My Heart?, High Kick Through the Roof).

If you’re like me, you probably thought rumors of a Full House sequel would pop up every year from now to eternity without a drama ever actually materializing. After all, sequel rumors have been floating around practically since the original rom-com miniseries hit 40%+ ratings back in 2004 and made two superstars (Rain, Song Hye-gyo) even superer. And I recall last hearing news about a sequel three years ago, with nothing coming of it.

Even when the Noh-Hwang rumors started circulating recently, I wrote them off because they were followed by the usual flurry of denials from the actors. But with casting announced as official today, I guess this sucker may really happen after all.

In case you’re unfamiliar with the original series (who are you and where have you been for seven years?): Full House was one of the earlier examples of several plot devices that have since been used and abused by practically every single rom-com afterward. We had the movie-star hero, the gorgeous heroine who was called “ordinary” looking (pfft), the co-habitation setup, the landlord/maid scenario, the contract marriage, and the bickering-as-foreplay. There’s the hyung-as-Daddy-Long-Legs, too, and a first love who won’t go away. Rain played the movie star jerkwad (also former med school student and son of rich family, of course) who buys Song Hye-gyo’s house…which she’s swindled out of by her “friends,” who need the money and are somehow able to convey the deed. Left homeless, the heroine becomes maid to the new owner, then agrees to contract-marry him, and lots of fluffy cuteness (with the requisite head-scratching separation angst) ensues.

Since it’s unlikely that the so-called sequel will actually be a continuation of the original story, which already got its happy ending, it remains to be seen whether Full House 2 will just take the concept and refashion it into a new version of the same story. Or, you know, you could just slap the Full House 2 title onto any contract-cohabitation drama in the past seven years, since those have basically used all the same tricks.

MY FIRST KDRAMA!
After teasing my friends day and night about seeing korean, got so bored one day and started to watch this just to tease her more!
AND THERE THAT STARTED OFF MY NEVER ENDING ADDICTION TO KDRAMAS!
Spent sleepless nights and finished it in 2 days!
I know its not a perfect drama, but it has all things that gives warm feelings about a kdrama, the feeling we long for whenever a new drama comes our way.
As much as I gave my heart to full house forever and was one among those many many who got disappointed when this full house 2 turned out ot be rumour EVERYTIME,
AM NOT EXCITED FOR THIS!

whats the point of full house 2 when it doesnt have Rain and song hye go and their bickering love?!??!??!
This is gonna be just another rom com. Will be checking it out but not excited!

No complain bout that (^^) eventhough I don't have any high expectation either.
Usually, some sequel, version number 2 thingy drama fail down flat to bleh, I'm sorry but you are not better then number 1 because of the same plot device or running away from the plot device *dillema*
But hey, look at briiiight sight, Minwoo there! With his shine the world oh so pretty face. Can't wait, yay!

I think I bought a manga of Full House II long time ago. The story of the same leads with some kind of separation or the girl with another man, sorry I forgot, but it didn't pull in, so I didn't finish the manga hehe.

The PD made the right choice for the male lead Noh Min Woo. Opportunity should be given for newbie actor as
lead so that he can improved and advance in his acting.
Fighting Noh Min Woo. Will be watching this series.

They're using the title Full House 2 as a marketing device obviously... but I'm excited for this news! I have a warm fuzzy place in my heart for Full House. :)

With all the good and bad talk of idol actors that always heats up dramabeans, I'm surprised no one mentioned No Minwoo and Hwang Jungeum's idol background... I guess they have to be a certain member of a certain girl group who shall not be named to get all the hate here.. I mean "dislike."

FH broke many boundaries for subsequent dramas in the same (rom-com) genre and spawned copycats in other asian countries as well as similar plot re-writes in subsequent projects

It also launched Rain's A lister career in Asia, without which, he could still be dancing his ass off and still being a dancer/singer with mediocre recognition.

It had its flaws but remains one of my favorite dramas alongside MNIKSS and Que Sera Sera.

I have a feeling this project wont have the slightest connection to the original. They're just drumming up interest by calling it a sequel and marketing it as such

"you know, you could just slap the Full House 2 title onto any contract-cohabitation drama in the past seven years, since those have basically used all the same tricks. "

LOL yup.

Full house was my first kdrama and I loved it for that. But then the whole contract thing got really annoying fast. and the bickering. gosh... I hope they spice this up somehow or it'd be a pass for me.

why make a sequel when it does not even follow the prequel?
it could have been better if they just make a new drama out of the chosen characters.

The shooting for the remake of Full House 2 has been started..starring NMW and HJE...one more striking difference from the original...are the hairstyle of the lead couple...

I have high hopes that this FH remake...would be entirely different from FH1...
