RAWR.
The melodrama Thousand Day Promise, starring Kim Rae-won and Su Ae, is set to premiere on SBS as a Monday-Tuesday drama, starting October 17. They only started filming recently, but with Kim Soo-hyun (Life Is Beautiful) churning out scripts well in advance, I’m anticipating tight writing, and with this cast, poignant and affective (also effective) acting.
Have I mentioned how excited I am about Thousand Day Promise?

Kim Rae Won is an excellent actor with great chemistry with all his co-stars. Definitely looking forward to this.

Well, this is a melo, yes. But at least we’re almost sure no one dies in the end (she’ll probably lose her memory and it’s going to be painful for us to watch , but she wouldn’t die. See: AMTR)
They look hot in the kiss still. I’m looking forward to this drama, more than Noh Hee Kyung’s Padam Padam.

Su Ae looked so pretty in the teaser trailer. I don’t usually fangirl but, hey, gotta give credit where credit is due.
I think I can deal with melo so long as no one dies or gives up an organ (they don’t still do that in melos, do they?) Since I haven’t finished 49 Days yet, I think the last melo I watched was A Love to Kill (eep!) and I’ve probably recovered from that ending by now…
Wait, the second half of Secret Garden counts as a melo, right?… so if I’m doing the math right… 1/2 49 Days + 1/2 Secret Garden x the trauma that was A Love to Kill = I should really give melodrama another try.

Yeah, I should’ve known. lol. I guess I naively thought the title was a metaphor or something. lol. In my slim defense, this was only the third(?) kdrama I’d ever watched. I know better now.
That said, I fully expect a thousand day promise in a Thousand Day Promise or I’ll be annoyed.

I don’t care if this is a melodrama or that I’m gonna cry buckets on this show– I’m still gonna watch this.
It’s the same as watching A Moment to Remember, one of my favorite and first Korean movies. I’ve seen this film a couple of times, but it always get me teary-eyed. I make it a point to watch this film every year to feed my Jung Woo-sung and Son Ye-jin fandom.
So it’s the same logic. Their hotness (individually and together) compensate for the show’s theme–which is why I’ll add this on my (growing) watch-list.
I saw the first picture and my reaction was, “looks kinda hot, but there could be more…” then I saw the second picture and my mind immediately went, “well, DAYUM”. Chemistry, they have it.
Oh man. What a great pair. Aside from being good-looking, I feel like they’re equal in terms of acting ability. I am officially excited.
RAWR!!!! I like it how he is actually holding her in the right place for a passionate kiss. None of the childish poses that we get from the young’uns. LOL
I watched the movie …ing the other day with KRW and ISJ and it killed me. Great acting and a great movie.
And before that, I watched Once in a Summer with SA and LBH. Also very very sad and a great movie with great acting.
So I am well excited for this one!!

I was looking at the first picture and enjoying myself with the anticipation of the drama (even if it is a melo) when I thought: is there someone in a green shirt in the background? No, it must be a green piece of furniture. But hey, there are also two hands going to touch Kim Rae Won. Why aren’t they my hands, oh why? So whose hands are they? Maybe Someone of the crew saying “all right we’ve got it, you can stop, can you hear me! Or are these hands a plot device?
HAHA. Good eye you got there. I was staring at the hotness that is Kim Rae-won and Su Ae to not notice the picture’s background.
You know, I was admiring them from head to toe when I noticed all these details. When you have a look at the green somebody, you’ll know whom I was admiring at that very moment

I think the lead character who inflicted the most pain on me was Go *sob* Soo in WISFC. I just wanted him to be happy.
Not the Kim Rae-won I was waiting for, looking like a model on a glam gig. His appeal is that he’s so real & down to earth, not artificial or plastic. So they sell his return series as artificial & plastic. I’ll wait to see what the public reaction is. It’ll be too bad if this turns out to be another low-rater in Korea, buzz-only online.
He’s probably getting a charge out of it, though, after wearing fatigues for 2 years.
I’m not sure KRW can actually do glam.
The posters and stills are one thing, but his hair is so unruly, it usually ends up destroying any attempt at coolness, not to mention his own goofy sweet personality showing through the glam.
However the role was planned to be, I expect KRW will make it KRWonderful!
KRW is one of the best on screen kissers out there and I’m happy that they put this talent of his into good use.
Also KRW is one of those actors who doesn’t look much in the pictures but very attractive on screen (Park Shi Hoo is one other)
Su Ae I only liked in A Family (very good film) but I never saw her give a bad performance.
Well also most importantly these two are good actors so at least we’ll get some good performances out of it.
Just a though. The song in the teaser sounds similar to a song used in “All-In”.
On one hand, it`s melo, and I really don`t like melo, but, on the other hand, it`s KIM RAE WON, my first Koren crush. Oh, well, the things we do for love……….
