While the mister is off being a vampire, wife Han Ga-in (Bad Guy) is busily lining up projects of her own: First she’s got a movie romance with Uhm Tae-woong in Introduction to Architecture, and now she’s “seriously considering” the drama project Moon That Embraces the Sun (also called Moon That Conceals the Sun, a sageuk set to air on MBC next year.
The drama departs a bit from the sageuk norm, in that it takes place in the Joseon era but is centered around fictional history. The story follows the romance between a fictional king and a female shaman, in what is described as their “secretive love.” There’s some buzz around the project already, since it’s based on a novel written by Jung Eun-gweol — that’s the writer of the novel that was adapted into KBS’s campus-romance sageuk hit Sungkyunkwan Scandal.
According to Han Ga-in’s representation, she loves the strong script and its appealing characters, and is very seriously considering signing on. You know, I wouldn’t peg Han for sageuks, but I’m curious to see how she’d do in one and the Sungkyunkwan Scandal connection is enough to get me intrigued in the storyline.
The reports are being worded cautiously at the moment, but now that casting rumors are starting to leak out I suspect we’ll be hearing a lot more casting news in the near future. Moon that Embraces the Sun will be directed by Royal Family’s PD Kim Do-hoon and written by Jin Soo-wan, who did 2007′s Capital Scandal.
It is looking at an early 2012 premiere on MBC.

This sounds very interesting. I’ve always thoughts Han Ga-In very pretty, but never did like any project she did. (More because of the storyline.) So I’m very curious about this.

I’ve been wanting Han Ga In to take on a sageuk project, to see if she can pull a Gu Hye Sun in King and I am impress me with some genuine acting improvement. I like Ga In but she’s not a strong actress still. She had great chemistry with both guys in Bad Guy, but acting-wise she’s so flimsy.
I’ve been following this novel’s trajectory to the small screen, and have been really hoping it would skew a little bit younger, and maybe cast Song Joong Ki as the King and Moon Geun Young as the female shaman. Then I can watch the acting and chemistry sparks fly.
I’ve heard murmurings of Park Shi Hoo wanting this role. From playing a nobleman-outlaw to a fictional Joseon King? He’ll be feeling right at home if he does take it.

I heard the itty bitty news on PSH too, and i also have mixed feelings about it. Love the man to bunches, but i don’t think he’ll actually take up another sageuk so quickly. Hmm, i’d rather see him in an action and/or comedy! Hah~
last time i saw her in anything was bad guy, thought she was ok. the fact that its connected to sunkyunkwan has me interested. hope the rest of the cast are good!

i know she’s not very well known in acting, but what get my attention is the word ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’ and ‘Ga In in Sageuk’.
I always been mesmerized with her beauty and i would really LOVELOVELOVE to see how she would look like in sageuk drama with all the hanboks and accessories.

This was originally reported to be the next drama of MGY but her agency denied it. Wish it’s MGY though.
On November 11, it was announced that Kim Soo Hyun (Song Sam Dong of DH) will play Lee Hwon, the male lead for MBC “The Moon Embracing Sun,” which is a historical fantasy drama. Kim Soo Hyun was apparently the number one pick ever since.
Han Ga In has been cast as the female shaman, Wol. The forthcoming onscreen chemistry between Kim Soo Hyun and Han Ga In is already gathering much interest.
