Ahh, so this is how they’re going to introduce conflict for Can’t Lose’s extension.
Eom Ki-joon (Scent of a Woman, Dream High) is making a recurring appearance on the drama starting from today’s Episode 14 through Episode 17, playing Eun-jae’s (Choi Ji-woo) ex-boyfriend. That means he’ll probably mess with the couple’s budding reconciliation in the same way that Lee Soo-kyung‘s guest appearance as Hyung-woo’s (Yoon Sang-hyun) ex-girlfriend rocked the boat in the drama’s early episodes.
On the one hand: Manufactured conflict, boooooo. On the other hand: Eom Ki-joon!
I love him, and think he has a wonderful presence no matter what role he’s playing, whether it’s cold and collected (Hero), dorky and bumbling (Dream High), or my favorite, cold-on-the-outside and dorky-on-the-inside (Scent of a Woman). I miss my Dr. Poopy. Eom’s always a nice bonus, even if the appearance is as unremarkable as his cameo in Miss Ripley earlier this year (he was fine, his prosecutor character was fine — it just seemed like a waste of his talent for a role that could’ve been played by any no-name rookie).
But since the bottom line is more Eom Ki-joon, I guess I’m onboard.

I wonder how actors feel when they are the last minute addition to a drama. Is it like being asked for a date 2 hours before the prom? Possibly insulting, but too good to pass up?

Yeah! Although I do not as a rule like extensions, if this brings us more of Eom Ki-Joon, Show is excused. Really looking forward to watching drama from now on.

I love him as poppie pants dr in Scent of a Woman. He plays evil/hateful characters well too.

Haven’t been watching Can’t Lose, only reading the recaps, but I will watch these last episodes if Eom Ki-joon is cameoing. As much as I enjoyed KSA and LDW in Scent of a Woman, EKJ was the highlight of the drama for me. Love him!

I never understood the Eom Ki-joon love until I watched that drama. He totally won me over! And I found myself wondering when he had become so hot?
I think when he sings, he’s totally hot. hehehe. He got some good banter and chemistry with Shim Eun Jin. Yeah, that drama owned me. I didn’t expect to love it but I did.

Hmmm. Interesting. Not sure I like this contrived plotline but I guess it makes sense, somehow. Eun-jae was jealous of Hyung-woo’s ex, so he needs to be jealous of hers.
Plus, Eom Ki-joon is so cute!
All I can say is “Yay!!!!!” Love him too. I haven’t seen all his works yet, just World Within (he rocked), Dream High (loved him there too) and part of Scent of a Woman.
Funny, I was thinking about my favorite Korean actors/actresses and having a conversation with myself (I was alone in my room) and I actually said “I love EKJ because he does subtlety really well and he brings depth to his characters and he conveys that really well. It’s actually palpable when he acts”.
I love the scene in SOAW when he cooks for the KSA character and she tries to touch him (to get something from his hand) and he recoils as if something/someone has just burned him (because he was so sensitive to her presence around him). I rewatched that scene many times and thought about how he had to time his reaction etc and look natural. What a pro!
I didn’t like his character in World Within, but I LOVE how he played him and I think he got an award for that. Well deserved, of course!!!!

It helps that not only is he a fun actor to watch, I absolutely LOVE him voice in the Korean version of The Count of Monte Cristo play. The way he sings and acts

That is a good article. Eom Ki-joon really impressed me with his facial/eye expressions and quick responses to Kim SunA that were so meaningful in Scent of a Woman. He says, “through dramas, I can quicken my reactions. I think that, no matter what medium an actor works in, he needs to be able to adjust his acting pattern to that medium quickly.”
