Thanks for the re-cap and all the participants’ comments, especially the historical tidbits. But I’m LONGING for some info about the actor who plays Ddol Bok’s father, Suk Sam. It’s not mentioned here or in Wikidrama. Help!

some notes: -Lee Do - or Yi Do (이도), yes it's true it's Sejong's name, but no one ever called him that, even before he became King. People would just call him by his former royal names as either seja or Yangnyeong Daegun -former King Taejong - in his case, since he's not yet dead (to be called as Seondaewang, he's a Sangwang. He's the last of the early Joseon kings to abdicate (a total of 3; his father Taejo and his older brother Jeongjong), since I don't technically count Gojong who did it during the Empire days), Sejong himself ending the abdication trend by dying naturally. -Shim-won - wrong, hun. Queen Soheon (Sejong's Queen Consort)'s father's name is Shim On (1375-December 25, 1418). And for some info, Shim On's brother Shim Jong is Taejo's son-in-law (created Prince Consort Cheongwon) thru his marriage to Princess Gyeongseon

You can say that again. The guy has been worthy of a leading role 2 years ago. How many dramas have we seen when the lead actor gives us only mediocre at best performances? SJK has been pretty amazing in all of his roles, despite the lack of significant screen time. I have to say Tree has been his best performance yet.

After recently watching “Yacha” and finishing up “WarriorBDS” I wasn’t sure if I wanted to dwelve into another sageuk (both had their moments, but were really uneven), but I’m glad I did w/ “TWDP.”

Aside from “Joseon X-Files”, the best 1st ep for a sageuk – really draws you into the story immediately.

While I like Jang Hyuk, have to differ a bit re his performance in “Chuno” – felt that his portrayal was a bit 1 dimensional, overusing the same gruff mannerisms.

Otoh, this is the 1st time seeing Song Joong Ki in anything and his acting thus far, has been pretty darn awesome.
