Another poster for You’re My Pet! To be honest, I’m not even that excited about this movie (it looks super-cute and fluffy, but I have no great expectations of it), but they do have some pretty eye-catching promotional materials. Kudos to the marketing team, you get a cookie.
In the latest one, the tagline reads, “The longer you raise him, the more exciting it gets!” The word raise, of course, refers to the conceit of Jang Geun-seok being Kim Haneul’s human “pet” in the movie, which leads to hijinks and romance. In the poster, Jang leans forward, as though to, uh, taste Kim’s (cookie) stick. And no, that’s not as dirty as it sounds. As her pet, he’s probably just trying to snatch a bite of her food like every overeager puppy in the world, right? I’m sure that’s what the producers meant. Uh huh.
The movie, which seems like it’s been filming forever, will finally release in November.

The manga from which the Jdrama and now this Korean version has been adapted is actually quite amazing. Just finished reading it a couple of days back…all I can say it’s not exactly super cute and fluffy all the time!

The more advertisement they release, the more I get tired of it truthfully. I’m not a big fan of remakes, so I don’t know what to expect with this movie (if I even have expectations at all). At least it’s not another trailer, because trailers that shows all the good parts of a movie pisses the living out of me.
Well, I kind of understand how you feel. I’m also not fond of remakes, but given how I’m an old fan of Kimi wa pet, since I’ve heard about this project, I’ve been super-excited. And at that time (heck, more than one year ago), I just finished watching You’re Beautiful, so I was uber-excited to know that JGS was onboard.
But it took so long to actually find a female lead and FILM that it became a running-joke (for me). And now, the more I hear and see promo materials, the more bored I feel about this project.
Took you TOO LONG, movie! Way to stretch fans’ patience…

yes, i do agree about the devil is in the detail. I adored the manga and watched the j-dorama.. so… my expectation is actually quite low..
maybe it’s the defense mechanism talking so i wont be too disappointed with the korean rendition of my beloved characters…hahahaha

Yep. I figure that raising a pet isn’t exciting. Raising a certain bit of his anatomy, the name of which all of us here are too genteel to even think, gives us a few more…options.
These stills have gone beyond silly cutesy and are now firmly in the implied porn realm – the producers crossed over when they released that still of JGS with his head between KH’s legs.
Today’s still with his tongue showing, the “treat” (is the treat Haneul or the cookie? Let’s all guess.) and the print/advert are all so thinly disguised, it’s just silly now.
When push comes to shove, the reality is, is that this is a story about a woman who opts to treat a needy male as a subservient pooch. Just get it over and add some black leather, a whip and a leash. It’s a real thin line between cutesy and not.
I’m wondering how far removed from these alluding poster/stills the movie will really be? JSG been all over the media interviews professing how raunchy filming this movie has been for both of them – this should be interesting.

I have to agree- It’s like looking at a fairly pretty girl on the left, and a slightly less pretty girl on the right. Not getting any “sexy” vibes from this poster at all. saw this in the subway station actually. it’s pretty risque for the subway. movie posters that are put up in the terminals are usually never this sexy. totally caught my eye! it peaked my interest in the movie ^^

Thought I better add in that I DID watch the jdrama version and loved it! Acting was excellent…anything with Matsumoto Jun is very good. Male and female leads were sexy….I don’t see the same chemistry with korean version.

I read this manga years ago and watched the Japanese live action so im excited to compare the 3. It has absolutely nothing to do with JGS! No really, it doesnt! (shifty eyes)
I loved Matsumoto Jun in this role. I hope the story line isn’t changed up too much. I am looking forward to it mildly. If I get too excited about some show, usualy I am disappointed

Poster is the exact same cover as the manga cover, kudos to the team for sticking to the original (well hopefully), when there’s a remake, creators usually do 180 degree change and add their own flair, which either does justice or compromises the core message of the original.
Now, I feel like buying Pocky…
They really are hyping this movie very well. And those of us who have high expectations based upon our manga/dorama experiences really hope not to be disappointed. There is a lot of sexual tension in the manga and the dorama but these promo materials are really working that angle. It seems like a sex game on these posters rather than an idea that a troubled woman came up with to help fix up her messed up life.
I’m definitely going to watch it when it comes out. :]

I actually wasn’t a big fan of the original drama, I don’t watch Japanese dramas, but somehow ended up watching that one…it was a bit too draggy for my liking.
