I’m enjoying FBRS but still don’t get the Coffee Prince comparisons. Is it because it centers around an eatery of some sort? Or is it the cast of pretty boys? I never felt in CP that there was any manipulation of the pretty boy factor to get viewers or build a plot around — not that there is in this either, but by now the “flower boy” factor (BOF, You’re Beautiful, FBRS, etc) is starting to feel overplayed to me. In Coffee Prince even the supporting characters’ stories held up so well that, for me at least, they didn’t need the pretty factor. I don’t know. I’m still seeing Flower Boy as mostly fluff — but very enjoyable fluff!
I was thinking the same thing, but then again I watched Coffee Prince with zero knowledge of its promos. I agree that it was way more than just a show about pretty boys, but maybe that was how it was marketed? In any case, I am so glad FBRS shows some intelligence and deeper insights instead of just being pretty. Pretty plus brains and heart beats just pretty any day.

YAY for a new podcast! I was wondering the other day when you guys were going to do another podcast. Now I have something to entertain me as I drive out of town for the holiday!
Thank you for an entertaining and hilarious podcast as always! A couple suggestions for your anniversary giveaway: maybe a YesAsia.com gift certificate so someone can pick their own DVD set/kpop CD/toy or a premium membership for DramaFever to watch subbed episodes without ads? FYI the $200 Kindle Fire does relate to you guys because it comes with Netflix and Hulu apps preloaded – both of whom have amped up their kdrama offerings of late — and the ability to handle flash video in general. I watch kdramas on my ipad and android tablets more than I do on my laptop (except for FBRS, which I’m initially watching live on the East Coast every Monday & Tuesday morning).
I would suggest a gift that will work inside and outside the US – I know that makes it harder to choose.

I totally agree with you on the stickiness of dramas because now that I’ve really thought about it, I can’t honestly remember the plots from a lot of the ones I watched this year.

What do you mean by that? Is it implied that they (JB/GF) have a great dislike for those dramas or something?
I so wish PTB had been recapped by the awesome Javabean/Girlfriday. That show was BOSS. I think it was also one of the most highly rated show this year as well.
Funny, Kim Tak Gu, which was also one of the most watched drama ever, was also missing from JB/GF list.
That drama was such a roller-coaster ride for me; it would have been so lovely to hear their thoughts on it as well as having the chance to discuss with others on it.
I wonder if they will ever give either of the two shows a shot, if so, I will be first in line!
I don’t think that she doesn’t like it but simply didn’t watch it. I’ve learned that many asked JB about City Hall. And when I found this wonderful kdrama heaven a year back, I read Samsooki recap because that’s my favorite drama. As a newbie here I curious why JB didn’t rate it, dying to know JB’s opinion. Instead of one prize, perhaps, there should be lots of Dramabeans calendars, designed by Dramabeans. Just like the idol group calendars. Pictures will be drama scenes and quotes selected by Dramabeans.

Thanks for taking time to do a podcast (as usual). Love listening to you guys. And I totally agree with the majority of your assessments (at least of dramas that I actually watched); especially FBRS! It’s crazy but wonderful. Lee Ki Woo has my heart entirely but Jung Il Woo’s Cha Chi Soo makes the drama!
The “stickiness” segment was great. I’d love a post on it. I find that I have more negative “sticky” than positive but there’s plenty of positive too.

I’m watching ITWY, though I must say, Office Girls must be pushing ahead last wkend for Shen MaMa’s grand gesture (I despise using this term, Shen MaMa’s dying wish). I was bawling a little while watching OG’s ep.14.
As for me, OG is 1st place, ITWY runs 2nd place, then Ring Ring Bell at 3rd place.
