Lee Da-hae’s Los Angeles photo shoot

Here’s a glimpse at what actress Lee Da-hae has been doing since her last drama Miss Ripley, a role that has successfully put her back in good standing, as far as her public image goes. The drama itself wasn’t nearly as dark as I wanted, but she did a good job playing the wounded heroine, even though I desperately wished she’d stop being wounded and just be BAD.

Here she is in Los Angeles for a photo shoot, the concept of which is a woman’s sad love story. Yeah, thanks for that vaguery. I’m gonna go with “Lee Dae-hae: Pretty Pictures.” Why’s everything gotta be “She Loved And Lost And Now She Broods in Couture”?

She looks beautiful, but the backdrops make me laugh. Why do people spend travel budgets and take thirteen-hour plane rides to shoot in someone’s backyard, or inside a house? There’s maybe one picture with a distinct background, and even then, it doesn’t scream LA to me. Maybe they figure no one’s looking at the background, which I’m sure is the case… but then, I ask again, why the plane ride?

Sometimes there just aren’t enough answers in the universe for when I haven’t had enough coffee. Know what I mean?

This is news to me, was she involved in a scandal of some sort?

She wasn't involved in any huge scandal per se, but there were a bunch of little things, such as the time she immitated Filippino accent, suddenly dropped out of East of Eden, dropped out of another drama etc.
Plus, each time she apologized, it sounded like:
"I'm sorry...
...that the drama sucked."

She never dropped out of my favor though. I don't know why, but I just like her. Even though this spread does nothing for me. She's beautiful, I get that, but why are the dresses and the hairstyles and the scenery so... 'eh'?

I also like her and I really don't mind any of the bad PR about her. Most of the stuff you read on the news are fabricated anyway. Media sucks. Social media too. She's human and she just happened to make mistakes in the limelight. Big deal. I prefer that than "perfect images", and then you'll be surprised later on when they get involved in a scandal. Think of UEE's role in YB. Character and reputation are two different things people. Some of the comments down are absurd.

So just because she shows a little skin she's "slutty"? And suddenly showing some skin means she isn't beautiful or classy? This is a very shallow and short-sighted comment I hope you will reconsider. Lee Da-hae looks absolutely stunning in these pictures and it is disgusting to see her belittled because the shoots don't have her wrapped in a prude potato bag.

Lodging a complaint against her acting? Legitimate. Slut shaming her for what she wears in a shoot? Ridiculous.

Same here. I've liked her tons ever since My Girl (I've seriously been contemplating rewatching that btw -- didn't fully appreciate it until it was almost over, now I get crazy nostalgic when I listen to the soundtrack).
I'm so glad she's "back in good standing". I was getting tired of people hating on her. She's so cute and pretty!

just ask google

In January, 1993, California's United Bank took her to court for $36,000 they claimed she owed them after bouncing more than 70 checks.

Later in 1993, Doherty's ex-fiance, Dean Factor, obtained an order of protection against her after Doherty allegedly pulled a gun on him and "threatened to hire a few guys to beat me and to sodomize me".

Shannen Doherty was married 3 times.

In 2001, Doherty was sentenced to either 10 days in jail or 20 days of work-release duty, three years probation, and was ordered to pay a $1,500 fine for drunk driving charges.

She has appeared several times, nude, in Playboy magazine.

That's precisely what I think! Why the long plane rides if you're just going to shoot indoors? *sigh*

But she's so pretty. Still, I'll always miss her plump cheeks from "My Girl". She got too skinny since then.

The first and the last pictures are my favorite.

I never understand why they have to go all the way to California when they could find these same scenes in Korea. Even if it is cooler in Korea, it's called blue/green screen with some wonderful Photoshop - which is all too standard anyway, these days.

If you didn't say this is a photo shot in LA I wouldn't have known it. I think someone just wanted to fly to LA for some shopping ?

As for the fashion spread... other than the 1st pic, the rest were meh. I'm not talking about LDH. She's flawless as ever (even if I'm not a fan). It's the clothes, the backdrop, and the photography. Even then, the 1st pic has some weird light blurring thing happening in the middle of the chair right under LDH. It's distracting.

ahh my fav actress-so beautiful in Miss Ripley

Both Lee Da Hae and GHS are among actresses that got large fans based. Both are very noticeable locally and internationally, hence we can see the antis, it is unavoidable, and is expected if the actresses are very talented and beautiful actresses. Those actresses that appeared in this blog and without antis are still new and small fans based. I think the attacks are mostly directed to their fans rather than the actresses. I assume they are still normal kids, you can't simply hate people by just reading, watching the news.

We can read the psychology of the antis here, eventhough not proven scientifically why they behaving like that, but it is fun to read though, especially the menstrual part. In other words, the antis here are still mild, compared to this article.

*sigh* I don't understand why singer's/actor's/actress' fans consider anyone who critiques of their idol's singing/acting as anti-fan. Saying you don't like one's poses/singing/acting is not the same as wishing someone dead so why the labels?

Ahen to that, Shiku. It seems like the favorite weapon du jour against any sort of point of view people don't agree with is to label it extreme: obviously the ravings of an anti or whateverphobe, which can therefore be ignored and belittled. Honest debate and thoughtful discourse are terminal, if not dead.

Most of the reader and the commentators here at are not NEW, but many play an angel. Kind of expected what the reactions, when the name of Lee Da Hae, YEH, GHS appeared.
Just read the articles, so scarry, I think Lovelyu indirectly classified those anti here as type 1 category-
'The first category is the "regular anti." These anti-fans just comment or say they don't like certain groups and that's all.'

0

I too think it's too narrow a view to pin labels like "antis" when it's just a reasonable and honest opinion shared.

I don't think it is a matter of liking or disliking an actor/actress. Many just pointed out in their opinions that some of these actors/actress simply can't act, though that doesn't mean they are not likeable as a public persona.

We are no oscar judges or veteran actors/actress/directors ourselves, when we feel that some actors/actress can't act, it can simply mean they don't resonate well with us in this or that movie/drama, it don't mean they won't do well in another projects.

Does having an opinion about someone's acting capability makes one an anti? i think when we start posting hate mails, then that is when the line is crossed...PEACE!

0

LDH is pretty, but in a nondescript way, but that also describes her acting.

I guess that makes me an "anti."

I think Kim Tae hee is one of the most beautiful women in the world, but until "My Princess", her acting has been subpar.

I guess that makes me an "anti."

I adore YEH, but aside from "Coffee Prince", her acting has been subpar.

I guess that makes me an "anti."

Never fail to amuse me that when people don't like an actress, they still check out their news anyway and comments that she's a rotten person and she did plastic surgery.

Why waste your time like that if you don't like her!

I love her personality outside. She's such a goofball. Not the pretty Da hae that we see on photoshoots or dramas.

She's so popular in China now it's crazy. She said her next drama will be a Chinese idol drama. What is up with Korean actors hopping to china these days! They must pay triple or something. Plus they shoot their dramas before hand so it's not as tiring.

This is a prime example of utterly failing to utilize your surroundings. L.A. has a lot of distinctive Americana and a specifically Southern Californian environment that they could have taken advantage of to signify that 'this is why we came all the way out here to L.A..' Lee Da-hae looks out of place.
It's especially disappointing after Lee Min Jung's photoshoot, which was such an awesome example of how to imbue the pictures with Southern Californian ambiance.

Anything I have seen her act in I have enjoyed. Sooo very sorry I cannot say the same for these photos . . . .

1. She looks very bland and washed out here. Dress matches skin/hair tones too well, and really does nothing for her. Background also does not add anything to the pictured.

2. Best dress of the 4. Unfortunately, again nothing pops in the picture. Probably paid someone a lot of money for the hair ‘style.’ My question is, why??

3. The purpose of it? Dress is really nice, but she reminds me of a walking zombie. Or is she just trying to take a short cut to her car, after a night of really, really, really, I mean really bad hair?

4. A dress that color wise goes well with her, but is just me, or does the top along the chest line look off? With gathers and center line, the eye is pulled up, but her cleavage and top line of the dress do not match. Are they suppose to, don’t know. It just makes her looked smashed and ’out of alignment’ with the bodice of the gown.

She's such a beautiful girl (as evidenced in that Miss Ripley scene where she was dressed in that stunning red gown) - what a waste of flight miles for this session.

What she really needs is a photo layout with Rachel Zoe and Annie Leibovitz. That way, haute couture wouldn't wind up like pic #4. The story doesn't read "disappointed love story" - it reads "hooker returning from a busy night".

Makes me wonder who had final approval for this terrible shoot. LDH needs to keep a firm hold on her newly regained approval points and get busy on her next drama.

Criticizing her is not being an anti
but if you look at the pattern of commenting in LDH articles you would know it wasnt just "contructive criticism"
Does Yoo In Na or Park Min Young get this much flak for their plastic surgery when they did just as much if not more than Lee Da Hae?

being anti means actively hating on someone.. and wishing ill... but i mean, i think we are all entitled to our opinions and dislikes right..

for ex, kim tae hee, i think is really cute and pretty and gorgeous and a genuinely nice person, but as an actress, terrabad. i remember the first time i saw her in love story in harvard, and i had no idea who she was then, but remembering thinking, wow, how did this girl get hired, is this a joke?

and i dont like lee da hae, she just looks so plastic fantastic. like every inch of her. not just her face. i feel like she just wants to embody this female ideal, but with no inner content. i even feel like she sculpted her body and pushed her cleavageless body together for the shoot, when we all know, shes skinny as a stick, to fulfill other feminine ideals. not cool.

and song hye kyo? what has this girl been up to? just bc you have one major hit in korea, it seems you can just stop working...

exhibit A. jun ji hyun. i thought she was beautiful in my sassy girl and great or whatever, but i dont really think she's done anything of note since then. has it been like almost 10 years.

yoon eun hye on the other hand, i think has had her drama flops, but also has had a few major hits. coffee prince, goong.. right? at least she's working all the time to continually pursue her craft..

I've never watched any of LDH dramas but I know who she is. Since I am neither a fan or an anti, I suppose I can offer a more non-bias opinion?

I've seen many korean celebs who had gone plastic surgery, but to be honest I can't see obvious plastic face in LDH as some have written here. She must have had an awesome plastic surgeon or she did a little bit or she hasn't had any. Don't know.

In my opinion, she is a very pretty and sexy lady. She has such a soft sweet face and a voluptuous body but what's lacking is charisma that can only be gained through inner confidence and maturity.

My favorite picture is the last one. blue dress is simply amazing on her , I would have liked it better with less cleavage.

I am weird that I don't find Kim Tae Hee to be gorgeous. Pretty? YES! Gorgeous? NO Beauty is truly in the eye of beholder. For me, I find a woman beautiful when she is beautiful inside and out and possesses a certain charisma that captures your eyes. Based on looks alone, I find these women to be extremely beautiful (again others may not find them necessarily beautiful): Lee Young Ae, Choi Ji Woo, Kim Sa Rang. They are tall and beautiful.
