So the rumors were half-true: Yoon Eun-hye isn’t taking on romantic comedy series Wild Romance, but Lee Dong-wook is.
He’ll be joining Lee Shi-young, who was recently cast as the female lead, a judo athlete turned bodyguard. He plays a baseball player, and their relationship gets off to an inauspicious start with some “unpredictable bad luck.” I foresee lots of comedic clashes in their future, before the antagonism turns to love.
I love Lee Shi-young — she can make even the worst writing somewhat watchable (see: Poseidon) — and I think Lee Dong-wook has solid comic chops, so I’m looking forward to this pairing. But more than the casting, I’m particularly keen on this drama because it comes from writer Park Yeon-seon, who wrote Alone and Love and Mixed-up Investigative Agency, both of which were standouts. Directing is PD Bae Kyung-soo of Infamous Chil Sisters; actor Oh Man-seok has also joined the cast.
The drama is set for 16 episodes and premieres in January. It’ll air on Wednesdays and Thursdays, in the post-Man of Honor timeslot.

I love Lee Dong Wook but don`t hate me for saying this but I don`t like Lee Shi-young since I watched her in “Loving You a Thousand Times” and “playful kiss”. I really love Siwon but the biggest reason that I didn`t watch Poseidon is because of her.

Okay back to normal letters and I am so happy it’s a rom com. Contrary to all the negative comments about the female lead I am not against her. Didn’t like her in Playful Kiss but she has improved a lot and I’ve watched her movies. Besides she at least dares to express her personality in real life.

I was reading on 10Asia, and Lee Dong Wook’s character in Wild Romance is named Park Moo-Yeol? Wasn’t this also Min Ki’s character’s name in Mixed-up Investigative Agency? Can’t remember if the last name was also Park or not, but Moo-Yeol was also Min Ki’s character’s name. And Lee Shi Young’s character’s name is supposedly Yoo Eun-chae. Hmm, just off by 2 letters from Mixed-up Investigative Agency’s Eun Jae character…coincidence?
I saw this writer’s White Christmas, and the main character was named Park Mu-yeol as well, and there was a girl called Eun-sung or something, so I think that she likes to reuse the names for different characters. There was also a Kim Junsu in both dramas. I was hoping that Minki would be in this and be Park Mu-yeol again. Sigh! Not a LDW fan so you guys can have him, but am a big fan of the writer so I will certainly be tuning in.
And I recently watched Miss Kim’s Million Dollar quest by the same writer (old drama, Ji Jin-hee and Kim Hyun-joo) and the main characters are called Park Mu-yeol and Lee Eun-jae. Um… how weird. I wonder why she does this. She’s such a talented writer, I don’t think it’s lack of creativity.
I think it’s a sort of signature, her way of putting a stamp on her dramas. All the characters are so different anyway. I just wonder if these names may be some people she knows. Also, I checked, and the main characters names are different in Alone in Love, so I wonder what happened there.
True, the name is the only thing they have in common. I’m curious to know if they have real life parallels.
Maybe because Alone in Love is not her original story but based on a Japanese novel?

Don’t care what people say. It’s been a while I’m excited by the cast (before the script) I only see LSY through some YT videos and Boys over flower(?) but I like her acting. She’s not the most gorgeous that catches eyes right away, but by observing her more you’ll fall for her on the way w/o knowing it. lol
And LDW, oh LDW, can’t he be more perfect. Beside ‘My girl’ which I didn’t and stil don’t want to touch, I like most of his dramas. Such a cutie, hopefully this role will be different than others.
She has a comedic feature length film out, Couples, too.

ok with both leads:) i see that people are pretty divided as to casting LSY as the female lead! i geddit… she acts pretty well with some people. in playful kiss, i don’t know if it was the role or the lack of depth in the scriptwriting, but she was mediocre.
btw, forgive me, but i am dying to know what’s wrong with Poseidon’s scriptwriting???? really really! because i watched 4 episodes so far [just random ones] and i thought, ooh interesting plot! or maybe i’m just a sucker for action/thrillers?

wow. that was just uncalled for. just because there are other actresses that can do well w/ this role, it doesn’t mean that she can’t. even so, it’s one thing to be skeptical of her abilities, but to imply that she got the role through sponsorship is just … >_> there are plenty of worse actors who got lead roles right away (LSY didn’t), and i’m sure you wouldn’t accuse them of getting by through connections.
The production company for this drama is Lee Shi Young’s agency..
But I think she’s fine. The script went to Kim Tae Hee according to Tae Hee’s interview, but she wasn’t interested. I’d figure script also went to few other actresses as well, but in the end Lee Shi Young was probably the best actress for the role from the production company’s point of view.
I’m in big dilemma here. Would watch the drama because of Wookie, but wouldn’t watch the drama because of the female lead cast. I’m sorry, I just don’t like her, I don’t like her in PK and maybe also because I think her face is more of antagonist face.

Though I think I will love this pairing I still wish it YEH with him. I want YEH with a great comeback project and this seemed like it. Oh well, it’ll probably turn out to be for the better for all parties at the end of the day
As much as I love Lee Dong Wook, I will have to take a pass on this one. The female lead is not very enticing. Never liked her acting in any of the series…first saw her in BOF, then Birth of the Rich, PK and now Poseidon. I’ve given myself enough chances to like her but can’t get myself to do so. Funny thing is, she is always coincidentally in a drama with actors that I am somewhat fond off.
I wouldn’t say she is a bad actress, cause I’ve seen a whole lot worse, but she lacks charisma and a certain screen presence.

I went to different korean portals and interest for this series went down big time eversince the announcement that Lee Si Young is the lead.
When news of this series first broke out with Yoon Eun Hye and Lee Dong Wook, interest was very high but now, many think it wont do too well and have lost interest in it.
I hope ratings won’t be poor cause it would be so unfortunate for LDW after his successful comeback in Scent of a Woman.
