Love Rain, literally

Looks like they’re taking the title literally for Love Rain, with series leads Jang Geun-seok and Yoon-ah meeting in the rain in the above still.

The multigenerational “premium melodrama” from melo king PD Yoon Seok-ho (he of the Season dramas) has already pre-sold to Japan, no doubt owing a lot of its hype to the two stars, both of whom have heightened profiles abroad as well as home. The drama has been filming since September, starting with the earlier 1970s period; it’ll then cover the following decades and resume with their children’s generation. The analog-versus-digital dichotomy is one of the main motifs, in addition to the youthful-love-and-angst melo plots we’ve come to expect from PD Yoon.

The drama is planning for an early 2012 broadcast, which means a good amount of it will be pre-shot. That’s probably for the better; it’s hard to maintain “premium” levels of quality when you’re mired deep in the live shoot.

I've got nothing against Yoona, but I really wish Han Hyo-joo had accepted the role instead. She would have been better suited to act against Jang Geun-seok. I know she's not the best actress around, but from what I have seen of her dramas, I think she could act better than Yoona. :(

Why do dramas have to be reserved for the best actors? there are other inexperienced actors who are perfectly capable of acting in dramas and there are a lot of singers who are really good at acting. Yoona isn't even a bad actor ... and against Jang Geun-Suk? .. hes not that good of an actor to be honest, You're making it sound like he's some world class actor. Hes pretty average.

XoXo I totally agree with you on both points Young actors need an opportunity to learn and grow, and Jang Geun-Suk is not yet a great actor (though I hope he will be someday).

While I do agree that dramas shouldn't just be reserved just for the best actors (I mean, even the best actors were inexperienced in the beginning, they had to gain experience in dramas), I disagree with you on Jang Geun Suk. I think he's a very good actor, this coming from a person that was put off by his looks when I first saw You're Beautiful that I almost didn't finish watching the first episode... but then he became the reason I stayed with the drama til the end (well, he and Jeremy!). And then after seeing Beethoven Virus, I knew it wasn't a fluke. I can't comment on Yoona's acting since I never seen it, but I think people should give at least the first episode a chance to see how she does...

Well they're not saying he's bad, but not the best. As for me, I think he's a good actor, not first class but seems to be getting there, but (hope not too mane ppl hate me for this) I really Don't like him as a Singer!! I don't like his singing voice At All!!

JGS Is actually pretty talented for a young guy. From most of the dramas I've seen with actors (young and old) He is one of the top...As for why dramas need to be reserved for the best actors....probably because people really enjoy watching pretty awesome actors act. Sure you can make a drama with mediocre actors or "singers/idols"...but the best dramas are usually the ones that have it all.. great story, great directing, great writing and most importantly awesome actors. They can turn the worst of the first 3 into something tolerable( I even got through half of Mary stayed out all night because the actors in the main love triangle were great even though the writing was terrible) Also average actors usually end up being forgettable in retrospect...this is not to be confused with character actors who do a great job at playing the same character in many dramas...(think Jennifer Aniston in most of her movies) sorry im an actor and had to put my 5 cents in.

Too true. Mostly she opens her eyes really wide and kind of simpers. I like her- esp. on the old Sunday show- she was funny- but her acting is not stellar. As for JGS, he looks almost MANLY in that rain soaked shot- then in the next one, cute but androgynous boy-toy. I'm sure i'll still watch it!

That's a good look on Jang Geun-seok. To the best of luck to this drama, but sadly I'm not up to a drama about love long gone and love that will be fulfilled by the kids whose parents lost their chance to love. Just sooooo dramatic sounding you know?

I'm sorry but seeing Yoona really ruins this for me. She's not the WORST actress but I'd have much rather this role in a "premium" drama been given to someone who's not an idol. Especially next to Jang Geun-seok who I feel will really eclipse her.

I agree. JGS is an experienced actor and I think he is going to eat her alive with his acting skills. I could be wrong but most idols don't get acting jobs because they're good actors but because they're idols. Putting them next to seasoned actors can be disastrous and makes me cringe. I hope she proves me wrong though. (Notable exceptions of singers turning good actors are Choi Si Won who I think did well in Oh! My Lady and especially Han Groo who rocked in Girl K.)

Can't help but join the YA bash... and i think our concerns are not the fan girl talking, but quite justified. I could not stand her in CM, and well, YAMD was just boring. If they wanted a girl idol with a pretty face (and a good voice for the OST), couldn't they have cast someone like IU? She was super cute in dream high and even the acting wasn't bad, and she was a trooper for wearing the fat suit!

IMO, among idols, Jaejoong is turning out to be a pretty good actor and he's been building his skills up the right way by not taking the lead role right of the bat. He def didn't look bad next to Ji Sung who is a seasoned actor in Protect the boss.

People, I like both jae joong and jisung...HP was cute and short and it wasn't a demanding role, good choice for acting debut. I am citing them as examples of 1.) someone who is a very popular /good singer and not rubbish at acting 2) a really good actor. It's not really a comparison, they were in the same drama...and JJ didn't look inadequate.

0

yeah but maybe Han Groo was supposed to be an actor. there's a lot of them right now. actors can't get jobs so they join agencies to become idols. then from there they get acting jobs. weird and sad.

I might be able to answer this. I tend to follow him a little too closely (Trapped and drowned in his pool of Eels as I am).

The twitter and media issue are the same pretty much. Everything he says on twitter been making media and taken out of context. Ironically media actually mentioned that he is angry because of media which kinda proved his point. Plus on twitter antis have been attacking his followers. On the plus side there since he's not using twitter anymore, except thru his agency, he has been posting more on his official APP.

Regarding the movie. Not just his current movie You're My Pet but Budapest Diaries as well... footage from the movies are leaking throughout the internet which is a copywrite infringement. He's especially upset about Budapest Diaries and his photobooks because they are his intellectual property

Merci beaucoup. (Ahem. That much I remember from my high school French class...)

The 'lune'/'luna' is a net-nickname from long ago (although some friends call me that in real life too), but the longer version was me trying to come up with a similarly playful version based on 'Avalovara' (a novel by the Brazilian author Osman Lims --- title that I absolutely love).

Well Im not sure about her acting but tiffany would probably suit the role better in terms of appearance and she would look waay better with jang geun suk.idk about jessica though,I mean she is certainly better looking than yoona, actually I find her the prettiest in snsd,2nd is fanny and then yoona. But yeah I really don't see jessica playing the innocent and nice type role idk,she just seems like she would be a great bitchy character, must be the whole ice princess thing lol.But yeah
yoona might've gotten better so let's not judge before the drama is out :)

Both their hair are so brown. When did koreans start dying their hair? I always thought that hair dying for asians didn't really make a boom until the 90s.
