To the original poster: I think he's just shy; that's all. He was probably very nervous and so said things he shouldn't. He tried too hard to be funny. But that's kind of his charm.
Like someone said, Jang Geun Suk is the real egoistic vainpot. LOL.

I agree with you Kiwi, "egoistic vainpot" it's sooo exagerated, he was cute, shy and polite and did a lot better than most actors on variety for the first time.

It is enough for PSH to be a sensitive actor and a really handsome romantic lead. Not every actor is cut out for reality shows and it's not fair to expect it. I know that PSH tries really hard to show his appreciation to the staff and fans that support him.

I'm not really sure what you mean, but he seemed like an alright guy to me; he has no comedic timing though and he was very shy and unsure of what to say but then again it was his first variety. I think the entire cast did well especially Moon Chae Won who kept getting soaked the poor girl.

perhaps I'm just easily put off by men who seem a little too concerned about getting his freshly styled hair wet (in comparison, moon chae won was so adorable when she kept getting sprayed). when he was sharing his stories he repeatedly emphasised how he got by using his looks, reflecting how handsome he thought he was. i've seen far better looking men who acknowledge their looks in a less ostentatious manner.
It's interesting that some of you are using his lack of variety show experience as an excuse for him to say things incongruent with his chivalrous and handsome image. haha. it's exactly because he's so bad at it that i think he's allowed us a glimpse of who he really is irl.

A lot of korean pretty boys would have reacted the same about their hair though. And I didn't think he emphasized his looks at all. Egoistic vain pot would be Jang Geun Suk haha but I still love him

I think it's just a show. And I think he was nervous. He's never been on a variety show of that caliber before, I think?
I think he is not well adjusted yet. He doesn't look arrogant at all though. I think he just looks inexperienced and awkward/bad timing?

When I watched that episode of happy together, I haven't seen him in any dramas and still, he didn't seem arrogant to me. I felt like he was out of his element, trying to adapt to a variety setting but couldn't quite pull it off.
Now that I've seen almost all of his dramas, I love him. And he doesn't seem to be that type of a guy. I love how someone mentioned JGS since he seriously is the one that fits your description. I adore both of them!

i didn't get that vibe from him except that he was awkward and isn't really cut out for variety shows. i do think he tried a little bit too much to talk to make up for his other co stars' lack of talk. maybe he just said more than he should have. seems like a perfectly OK guy to me from what i see in his BTS and NGs. He seems to be the outgoing sort as well? And I'm thankful for that because I see Moon Chae Won as the more reserved and introvert types.

Btw the last episode of QoR will be airing on one of the TV stations tomorrow, I usually don't do dubbed kdrama

Hi clockwork_orange,
I've never watched the show,but I understand wht u mean :). I've seen his photos and interviews and I kinda guesses that he's the type of guy who really proud of himself. I don't fancy guys like that, but I still like him coz he has great acting skills and,yeah, he's cute. I love seeing him on screen and his acting always interests me.
So, I just think that he's just a person with his own weaknesses :). Hope he'll be better so that people will love him more ;)

i have a friend who's met with many korean actors including the popular Lee Min Ho and Jang Geun Seuk, and the one person she would like to meet again is Park Si Hoo..he was friendly and warm...they met twice and he still remembered her from their first meeting.

If anything, my affection for MCW died down when I saw her on the show. She seemed really shallow and unkind for some reason.

I can see why one could come to that sad conclusion about Park Si Hoo if Happy Together was the first time they'd ever seen him outside of his work. Maybe i'm just biased, but i love the man for the way he loves and respects his fans. As an avid fan, i see he has a certain quality to him that comes off as shy and sweet like an innocent kid. I laughed at the things he said on the show and found them rather an extension of that shy and innocent character in him. Besides, who says he can't be proud of himself too? Which made it funnier because he's the most modest and giving actor i've come to genuinely admire. I don't think he needs variety shows.
Anyway, onto the shoot. Bali is very beautiful! PSH is just extra icing in the frame. And with that smile.. <3

I'm totally agree with you!
It's very sad to see such a harsh comments about him in this post which is specially related to him (and those harsh comments aren't even related to the topic).
I doubt those people knew PSH at all, I don't see why people eventually jump to conclusion; such as him being an 'egoistic vainpot'. I know, I seem to be a biased one, but isn't it true? I also think he was just shy and a bit awkward.
And they said we are using an excuse that it was his first time in variety show? How harsh of them. I wish that if they don't like him, they shouldn't have commented like that on the first place.
Don't forget that he's still a human being. Gee...
People are so overreacting. It's not that if he's gorgeous and all, so he wouldn't make any mistake?
