Park Shi-yeon marries

As previously announced, actress Park Shi-yeon (Coffee House, Story of a Man) married her fiancé, identified only as Mr. Park, on November 19 at Seoul’s Grand Hyatt Hotel.

Given that the groom is a non-celebrity, the affair was closed to the press, with just a select few photos from the ceremony now released to the media, as you can see here. Gah, I love how Park Shi-yeon always looks in a wedding dress, no matter the style. And she’s been in a number of them, surprisingly; a few for her roles, and a few in fashion spreads. If Jeon Ji-hyun is the perfect jeans model, then Park Shi-yeon is basically your ideal bridal model.

The event was a who’s who of the entertainment industry, emceed by announcer Oh Sang-jin and featuring a special song by Park Shi-yeon’s close friend, singers Park Hyo-shin and Lee Juck.

Other guests included: Hyori, Park Shi-hoo, Han Ye-seul, Nam Gyuri, Kim Min-jung, Oh Yeon-soo, Jo Yeo-jung, Cha Ye-ryun, Kang Sung-yeon, and Park Hee-soon.

The couple plans to honeymoon in the U.S. after Park completes filming on a movie.

Why did they cut out her husband from the picture? Everyone wants to see how he looks like... I bet he isn't good looking. Lol, that's how most Bussiness man are since they're too busy to keep up with their looks due to stress from the company. Lol

gosh ck, it was just an innocent comment!

I'd have liked to see him too (seems awkward having him cut out but I understand the need for privacy). Weirdly, I think I had a dream about My Girl last night. A kdrama dream, now that's a first! I absolutely have to rewatch it now. The nostalgia!

lol, that wasn't so innocent, more like an ignorant comment!

btw, there's a pic of the couple with the guests out. saw it from a Song JiHyo-dedicated tumblr. it showed PSY's husband's face. from afar, and the pic size is quite small, but he looks decent.

I figured YB was being sarcastic. We all know that business men look like Goo Yong Shik, Heo Tae Joon (Taebong) and Ohn Dal Soo.

P.S. I really wonder what he looks like too. But I think him being non-celebrity it's probably better to try to maintain some semblance of privacy in their lives. Good luck to the happy couple.

You're so right about the celebrity guests. In my country, if someone came to a wedding dressed like that (be it designer, expensive pieces), the bride and groom would feel offended and treated disrespectfully. But if we look at any wedding pictures from Korea, it just looks like that's a standard there. It nearly doesn't strike me any more. ;) Culture differences, I guess.

Congrats to the newlyweds :)

ck1Oz - I know. Here in Miami, you only find people dressed super trendy (if a bit slutty) but no one would EVER dress like that. Haha, I would trip in those heels.

PSH, oppa, I will sit next to you and protect you from all of the fangirls...

She looked beautiful and radiant. Congratulations.

People dressed in dull colours- grey, white and black for a wedding . Is it just Korea? I know in some other Asian countries-people dress very colourful for a wedding as it s a cheerful and happy event.

Congrats to the couple. She looks elegant and classy in the photos. That's what i notice with guests at Korean weddings. Sometimes they don't seem to have proper wedding guest attire and the colors looks so dull and gloomy. It's not just her wedding. It's like at every wedding i've seen them attend.

I've noticed that too. In the 4+ years that I've followed korean entertainment, I've always seen celebrity guests at weddings wearing dull colors like black and gray. If they weren't posing and smiling, you'd think they were all gathering for a funeral. Not only that, most of them dress so casual like they're just out and about to hang out with friends or something.

Yes, can someone with knowledge shed light on this one? Boggles the mind. It's not only the colors, but also the styles. Too casual for a wedding IMHO.

in Asia, we place more importance on the groom and bride. instead if you dressed up too lavishly, you're seen as trying to take the spotlight from them. in my country here, people attend weddings in T-shirt and jeans (lol!!) or a shirt and jeans.

black, gray and other darker colours are normally a no-no in an Asian celebration. but it's becoming acceptable nowadays among the younger generations.

I think for Japan and Korea, its acceptable to wear black and grey to weddings, especially for Japan, I think thats consider formal colours.

Also since it is a private event with no clothing sponsors and the stars have to wear their own clothes, then their taste and fashion sense becomes apparent.

Plus I think they find it considerate not to upstage the bride or groom.

These are my thoughts.

i don't understand why ppl are dressed so casually for a wedding. is this normal for korea? esp since its such a high profile event and they are all celebs themselves.

I don't understand Korean wedding fashions half the time they look casual the other half is practically clubbing attire. Look at the length of some of thosevskirts. The most appropriate outfits seem to be the ones with blazers.

the wedding dress looks lovely. it actually looks comfortable!! and it's so refreshing to see a covered-up bride for once. everybody seems to pick strapless nowadays, regardless of whether or not it flatters them. the guests, however...

was there not a dress code for this event? it was mostly underwhelming (nobody was badly dressed, but given that this was a wedding...) and they seemed to be covering a fairly wide range of styles. some were too casual, too dull, and nam gyuri rather looked like she was headed out to a club.

and i know it's winter and freezing, but i say all the more reason to add some color to an outfit! :)

I love the first picture.

Aww Park Hyo-shin. Reminds me of Park Yong-ha. If Park Yong-ha was still alive he would've attended her wedding.

And I agree with the clothes. They're too dull and gray for a wedding.

i want to comment about the guests' attire.

i live in korea; my house is near a popular wedding hall. every weekend (from march until october) there is a wedding. the guests are dressed up a lot. men in suits and ties, women in nice dresses and the older women even wear very beautiful traditional korean clothes. basically, everyone is dressed up properly for the wedding.

seeing the celeb pics wearing such casual outfits surprised me too because, in general, koreans know they should dress up for weddings. the celebs should also know the proper way to dress for a wedding. so, im very confused too.

anyway, i wanted to clarify that normal koreans don't dress so casually, so, please don't assume about the rest of society from these pics! haha~

i live in korea too... and only family members really need to dress up for the wedding (suits ties, formalwear, dresses)... they take a full family picture at the end of the wedding. everyone else can come pretty casually... some people choose to dress nice on their own but its nothing too fancy. the reason is because korean weddings ARE SHORT. there's no point in dressing for them unless you're family. 20-30 minutes and then a shared buffet in a cafeteria with the other wedding parties in the wedding hall. there's no real dress code. and people don't think its rude or weird. unless you look like you're about to go clubbing... you'll get eyed but not a death stare.

also another reason is because there are no wedding receptions. its just the meet'n'greet with the bride for pictures, the wedding ceremony, then traditional korean ceremony which is CLOSED OFF to immediate family members and photographers... then the meal (which the bride & groom will make an appearance only to say thank you to each table IF they finish the traditional ceremony and taking pictures). everything is sort of rushed.

Congrats to Park Shi-yeon (or should I say to her husband).

Previously, I had only caught PSY when she appeared on X-Man and FO but she didn't leave much of an impression (bit of a quiet personality, plus she was going thru some health issues when she was filming FO).

Also, I knew that PSY had been criticized for her acting so I didn't have the greatest expectations going into "Coffee House" and what can I say, PSY carried that series.

PSY sure does look radiant in those photos.

Btw, I think Shin Min-ah can hold her own against Jeon Ji-hyun in the jeans model dept, and a little short on the dress there for NGR.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that no one except the bride realized that they were dressing for a wedding. I was afraid I was just being petty. Really, I looks like all the other guests were meeting up for brunch with their old high school buddies afterwards and didn't feel like having to change.

Most of celebs attending are from Eyagi Ent (which is where PSY is signed under).
I could never understand what Nam Gyu Ri's thinking whenever she dressed to some occasions, she has a weird taste. :|
I always love to see K-celebs marries! I hope Lee Hyo Ri will follow Ms Park's path soon!!
